They have a variety of shoes and a small selection of socks. Some shoes seem over priced, $100+ for a simple sandal. We went in and were the only people in the store at the time. The lady was a bit rude in her tone and seamed upset after we decided not to purchase. We had no other option as they didn't carry shoes "wide enough" as she explained. LOVE kidOshoe! This is a rare store where you can find high quality childrens shoes and get properly fitted in person. We stop whenever we visit from Dallas. My 5yr old is going through a very annoying stage- she wants to choose her own clothes, but she's also annoyingly picky. The sales lady was very sweet and patient with us. Surprisingly, my girl found several pairs she wanted. Although they didn't have her size in stock in every style, she walked out with two pair (Bopy and Pablosky) that she loves. My daughter loves to shop, just like me. I found out coming here. We came to get her some "grown-up" kid's shoes. As a pandemic-adjacent baby she'd never been shoe-shopping before. The salesperson was friendly, kind and understanding of a curious toddler who views the world as her oyster. My daughter got to wear her shoes home, which I loved about shoe-shopping when I was little. Anytime I'm not sure about what size to get or think my LO needs to be measured, I'm coming here. This place has a terrible boy shoe selection! I've tried to shop local, but whatever size my preschooler wears, they are out of his size in 90% of the shoes. The latest were Native shoes in bright green - my kid had a meltdown because he wanted green shoes and you guessed it - they didn't have them in his size. Only pink and red. I went home, ordered everything we needed on a major retailer website and had them in 2 days. We won't be going back - way too much effort to shop in person (especially during the pandemic) to come home empty handed. read more

I'm not sure why these other reviewers have had such negative experiences! We literally plan a fun outing to Kid O every few months to get new shoes. We get a milkshake at Terra Toys, grab a few marbles and a Japanese eraser, then we head next door to get new shoes! The staff are all so courteous and kind. Kids don't have to sit quietly and be bored out of their minds. They are ASKED to run around to try out their shoes to make sure they feel good. There's a bubble gum machine, toys to interact with and plenty of safe space for crawling babies. Totally cutes accessories, laces for shoes and socks. There's also always a healthy selection in the sale section, so if you're scared of the higher prices for shoes you can usually find something there. The only down side is that in the last few months my son sized out of children's shoes and we have to move up to adult shoes :( Every time we are in Terra Toys, he insists on going next door to Kid O to visit his favorite sales person, Anna! read more

The two ladies who helped us (we were the only ones there so it was a group effort) were amazing. My daughter's feet are hard to fit since she's a good half size off from right to left foot and she had an extremely high instep. Anna was so sweet to use the term "Cinderella Feet" in front of my child. After trying on numerous shoes, we agreed the best pair at that time was a pair they didn't have in the right size. They looked at the manufacturer's website and wrote down all the information for me to order it myself... an order for which they would get nothing. We ended up buying a different pair of shoes and I'm going to order the ones they gave me the information for. They embody what real customer service is and should be everywhere you shop. read more

My Mother always instilled in me the belief that kids should wear quality shoes since their feet are doing lots of growing. I grew up going to a shop where I knew the shopkeeper by name (Mr. Murray) and each kid had their own card, where they recorded the shoes you got, sizes and other issues. This is a shop that carries high quality kid shoes, so I thought it would be the perfect place for me to start buying shoes for my son. I thought this may be similar to the shop I went to as a child. He had just started walking, so we needed to get his first pair of "real" shoes. With high quality shoes, I expect high quality service. I walked in and was amazed and overwhelmed by the selection. I love that this store has many quality shoes. I was incredibly disappointed to find that their staff is not able to even answer some of the most basic questions. I asked which shoes were squeaker shoes and the sales girl said "We have them, but I don't know which ones they are". She didn't give me any clue or even help me try to find them. I basically had to test every shoe on the display to see if was a squeaker and she stood there and watched me. She didn't pick up one shoe to help me identify them. When I found some shoes I was interested in (about 3 pairs), there was only one pair in my son's size. So, I asked to see a few more pairs and there was only one more in his size. With all the shoes they had, you'd think they would have a bit better stock on sizing. The only thing helpful from the sales staff was when someone else walked in and asked if it was Sandy's, the other girl said "No, that is across the street.". Well, I decided to check out Sandy's since I was so disappointd in this place and let me tell you Sandy's rocks! I won't be going back to this place. The service was terrible! read more

My son is 17 months and no where near walking. We went in to see if we could get help in finding him a pair of shoes that could help him to balance and give him confidence. I walked in and two ladies greeted me with huge smiles! I told them the issue and they immediately had a solution. They gave me a brochure about the shoe and brought several out to try on. I put the first pair on my son, looked up and bubbles had filled the room for a welcomed distraction! They helped me to find the correct size and they even suggested the size larger, because they saw that the larger size was not hindering his movements at all. It is impossible to buy baby/toddler shoes on the internet. Thank goodness there is still Kiddoshoe to help get my baby into the correct size and shoe for his needs! read more

This is a great shoe shop that has everything very nicely arranged. It's a REAL shoe store. They have cute accessories too like belts, socks (so many socks!) And all sizes for babies up to older kids. The staff is friendly and laid back too. I hate those "posh" shops that glare at your kid when she starts messing with merchandise. Here I can look around without my kid pulling stuff off shelves because the boxes are all in the back, only one of each model is out. In addition there are also lots of toys to play with. What I like best is that they carry shoes from all over the world you can't find anywhere else. Lines like Bear Feet(Texas), Miki House(Japan), and Livie & Lucas are in there as well as some others I hadn't heard of. Super disappointed in my experiences here. I bought a pair of saltwaters for my son who has some tactile sensory issues. He tried on about 15 pair of shoes (mainly b/c the associate wasn't knowledgeable and kept bringing out the wrong sizes)before we tried saltwaters in hopes that the buckle could deter him from ripping them off first thing. I was really on the fence about getting them b/c he seemed uncomfortable but the sales associate assured me I had 30 days that I could bring them back if they didn't work. My mom wanted to buy them so I asked the associate to hold them behind the counter and I went out to stay w/ the kids while my mom went in to pay. My mom came out w/ the wrong size. The associate obviously just didn't take me seriously or didn't have the tools and resources to do her job well. So, they didn't work out and I tried to take them back the following week. I was greeted rudely w/ the fact that since they had some wear that I couldn't return them. And I get that, but if a sales person sells shoes based on telling me that I have 30 days to try them, isn't that quite misleading? They were so rude and unhelpful and it just bums me out b/c I want to "support local" but to be honest, had I bought the saltwaters at Nordstrom, I could have returned them worn for a year! Getting my kids shoes properly measured and then being able to pick up shoes for summer is great. They carry Tsukihoshi - a great, light, stable athletic shoe. I'm giving 5 stars because their sales man was extremely patient and kind to my autistic son who struggles with eye contact and talking to people. The man was already extremely nice before I informed him of my son's condition, then seemed to really get the struggles of kids on the spectrum when I explained why my son refused to speak to or look at him. There are a couple of sales people who don't seem to know what they are doing or how to help you. In addition they seem put off to help out at times. Let's face it, I have a little girl. She's the only grandkid on my side (so far, but we have another in the oven) and it's not likely that she'll find herself with any cousins any time soon. Possibly ever. (Which is totally okay and if you're one of my sisters reading this I am SO not putting pressure on you!) Anyways, her grandma LOVES to buy her crap. Loves. (You sisters know this for a fact.) So, of course, when my mom tells me she wants to take the girl to Kid O Shoes, I'm like, oh, hi. I'm coming with you. It's difficult for me to explain how I like to shop. For one, I'm picky. My aesthetics are, well, different. Y'all, don't bother trying to pick anything out for me, 'cause it's just no use. Seriously, I even told my babydaddy (who I am not married to) that if he ever wants to get married and buy me a ring to just give me a budget, but under no circumstances should he try and pick me out something like that. Aside from being exceedingly fussy, I'm thrifty. This is where the four and not five stars come in to the review. I don't think that the store is overpriced, I would just be content to buy the shoes either used or online for a better deal. I'm torn about whether or not to buy a toddler brand new shoes (even if it's grandma's cash- I've got principles). Kid's going to be done with them in, you know, 5 minutes. Add to this that they will be utterly thrashed. There will be no hand-me-downs. This means that buying her a pair of shoes that cost the same as a pair of MY shoes feels unnaturally, fiscally, retarded. I just don't have it in me to pay that much for something so fleeting. On the other hand, she's so hard on the darn things that there is a certain logic and appeal to investing in a pair that she can go berserk in. I'll be frank. She's going to stomp, run, fall, climb in them, and then probably even chew on them at some point just to see how the hell they taste. Given that amount of bustle, one begins to reconsider being such a dang Scrooge after all. I mean, I don't ask that much of my shoes... that cost the same amount... And so it is that if you're going to buy shoes for your kid that'll look good AND last, you better march your butt to some place like Kid O Shoes. But maybe you really just feel like chancing it on Ebay (Will they fit? Will you win the bid?), or hoping for a better deal on some discarded shoes that someone else's toddler hardly wore from the resale store down the street (don't hold your breath, champ). I'm basically talking to myself now. I've done those things, and with marginal success. I'm always going to be on the lookout for used shoes at those consignment stores I frequent, but I'm under no delusions that there will actually be any footwear there that I'll wanna put on my kid. So I get it now. And I still look at the sale rack first because, you know, I'm a penny-pincher, but all in all I really like this place. Lastly, did I mention these folks are local? Owned by the amazing local toy store Terra Toys next door? Yeah, I'm a sucker for all that, too. They're not a giant chain out to sell, sell, sell, and they've got a great atmosphere for kidlets to play around and explore a little bit. Not much worse than trying to shop for them, with them, whilst simultaneously running after them. Trust me, it's practically impossible to shop for your child when they're with you unless the store has taken these sorts of things into account. Went in for the first time today. My son has EXTREMELY sensitive feet. For years, we have struggled to find shoes for him. I wish I knew the lady we worked with, but she was VERY knowledgeable! Probably the most knowledgeable shoe person I've met! She listened carefully to our concerns and knew the selections that would be best to try first. My son now has some nice leather sneakers. He's taken them on and off several times today and even said they were "satisfying". I'm excited and optimistic to see how they work out in the long term. read more

Took our twin boys for the first pair of shoes last weekend. Amazing experience! There are toys for the kids to play with, while the amazing staff not only educate parents on proper shoes, but proper fit too. The guy that took care of us was so great with the kids and pulled a ton of shoes to find the perfect size and style. (Hidden secret is the clearance rack to the left when you walk in. I bought a Groupon for this place and I'm glad I did! It had a GREAT selection of shoes. The costumer device was the best, and the layout of the store was really well done for those active toddlers. They had rocking horses and other fun things, so I could concentrate on picking my 20 month old a nice pair of shoes. I typically buy my son's shoes at Nordstrom, since they are surprisingly affordable, but I've gotten a few pairs at KidOShoes and have loved them. Love love love this store. Yes, they can be expensive, but that's because they sell expensive shoes, not because they're marking up the prices. And they have FANTASTIC sales. The salespeople are super helpful and great with kids. The first time we went was to buy my son his first pair of proper shoes - he was 12 months old and had just started walking. We told them that we didn't want to spend a ton of money, so they were really nice about pointing us in the direction of the less expensive shoes (and they do have some). My kid has super boxy feet, so they only pulled brands that worked for his foot type. It took over an hour of letting him run around the store while they looked at the fit, and nobody seemed bothered that he occasionally tossed a pair of shoes on the floor (we were mortified). They even made sure to get him into a pair with a bit of growing room so that they'd last longer. We walked out with a $35 pair of really cute shoes that would probably have lasted until he was 18 had he not grown out of them in 6 months - and the kid is super hard on shoes. They even keep a little card with your kid's name and a list of the shoes they buy with sizes, dates, etc. Fast forward a couple of years, and the store is just as great. We went in recently and the staff was literally running around the store playing chase with my kid so that they could see how the shoes did when he moved. If they weren't enjoying it, they fake it really well. We ended up finding a pair of shoes in the clearance section ($85 shoes for $35 - can't beat that!) but the staff still spent a bunch of time with us making sure they were a good fit. They even stayed past closing time to get us taken care of (my kid was heartbroken about losing a ball in the store so the sales person helped us find it - although I'm sure she had other things to be doing!). My kid is rough on shoes and will easily kill a cheap pair in a week. We buy his clothes at the thrift store but splurge on his shoes. Even still, I really don't want to spend more than $50 on his shoes until he's stopped growing quite so fast. This is totally doable at KidOShoe. Sometimes I do end up buying his shoes online, but I always feel guilty! We'll be customers here until my kid starts begging me to take him to a grown-up shoe store - so hopefully at least 10 more years :) read more

If you want good service, with a very attentive staff who are always ready to drag out as many shoes as it takes to find the one...than this place is for you. If you shop Stride Rite than the prices are equal and greater value.....however, you are getting a better shoe that is more unique will pay the extra few dollars for that!!! read more

I have noticed that most of the negative reviews about this store are about its service. Do you know why it sucks? They only give new recruits fourteen days to become a master shoe salesman, before they toss them out like so much trash. Therefor, the service you receive is often from a novice, or someone who does not care. Though the quality of their product is fine indeed, they do not know how to run a business. My grandson is just starting to walk, so I wanted him to have a proper pair of shoes. I think it is VERY important for children to have good shoes that fit them properly. This is the ONLY shoe store for toddlers in Austin as far as I can tell, so we drove quite far to get there. Before I got my grand one out of the car, I went in and asked if there was anyone working there who actually knew how to fit a child with shoes? Kristen said "we all do." I was so relieved. She was right -- she knew exactly what she was doing. She noticed everything about the baby -- how he walked and how to correct this with the right shoes. I picked out a pair and she gently moved me towards other shoes -- telling me she thought they might be too heavy for him at this point. She was patient, helpful and very kind. I like the selection and variety of brands this store carries. they have unique and high quality kids shoes but the customer service sucks. I went in today with my two daughters ready to spend a bundle on new shoes. I was in need of several shoes for each girl. The sales lady didn't even want to measure my older daughters foot instead she insisted on measuring the 13 month old who obviously was gonna fight. Then I handed her 4 pairs of shoes to start with and told her which sizes to get. First she only brought out shoes for my older daughter and not in right sizes or colors. Every time I asked for a color or size i didn't get what I asked for. They had nothing for my 13 month old in her size apparently. The sales lady seemed like she had no clue where anything was, what shoes they carried and couldn't remember anything for over 2 seconds. When I go into a high end store with my 13 month old and 3 year old I expect speedy and top notch service.
