Monday I stopped by the store, as it's down the road from where I work. Unfortunately, he was out, however, a young man by the name of Dre, I think I spelled it right, took care of me. Very impressed and satisfied with his recommendations and knowledge.Outstanding customer service indeed. It reflects on the owners, Ryan and Pam, of how they approach customer service and making the experience wonderful. The shoes I ended up purchasing were spot on to what I needed. Tested them out after work. I am back on the wagon again and looking forward to once again continuing my running journey with the help of The Loop Running Supply. Ryan and Pam Hess (formerly of Ready to Run on Far West and RunTex before that) have put their heart & soul into creating a new kind of running retail shop that focuses exactly on what runners need, with none of the excesses of the traditional retailers & big box stores. The new space (co-located with Gilbert's Gazelles) is compact with a modern, clean layout and a carefully curated mix of apparel, shoes, nutrition, and accessories. If you don't see something you want, just ask, as chances are that they have it in the inventory in the back or they can order it for you. The product offerings are from both tried & true brands, as well as from some new independent/boutique labels targeting high-performance athletes (such as Satisfy Running) and those who prefer minimalist styles. There are a lot of reasons to buy running stuff from anywhere except a local running store, so my goal is to convince you why you should support not only your local running store, but this local running store. VS online: two major downsides to buying online - 1) the inability to try things on before you buy them, and 2) the inability to get expert advice from someone instantly. The first one can really be solved by any brick and mortar, but the staff at the Loop live and breathe running-- its clear that they have extensive historical and hands-on knowledge about all of the gear they sell. VS national chains: three main differences here -- First: The Loop not only has the essentials in stock, but they also have a curated collection of harder-to-find brands not sold in many, or any, other stores, like Satisfy, BLK RBN, RunBK, and others. Second, similarly to online, national chains typically don't have the breadth and depth of knowledge that the staff at The Loop has. Third and most importantly for me, at the end of the day, buying from any local running store vs a chain means more money supporting the local running community here in Austin. read more

Was visiting town with my husband for our anniversary, checked out their website and noticed they have a wide variety of shoes not normally sold in other specialty stores. Decided to take a trip to the store and had a great experience with the staff. All the guys were very down to earth and knowledgeable about all their products. Support your local running store! These guys are great. Rod and Pam are super friendly, knowledgeable, and are easy to talk to. Don't come in expecting hundreds of shoes in all the colors, take that as a good thing! They only carry the latest and greatest in regards to their products. I would give 10 stars if I could! The guys made us feel welcome as soon as we walked into the store. Josh introduced himself, took a look at our shoes and instantly knew what we wanted. He is super knowledgable and very friendly. I'm nerdy and read dozens of "expert" reviews on the latest running shoes, so I was very pleasantly shocked to find that Josh had helpful insights on the shoes that I couldn't glean from the articles. I don't consider myself a real runner. I join run/walk groups to try to get in shape. Even when I am running consistently, I am very slow and have rarely run a sub 10 minute mile. So going to a real Running Store that looks to cater to RUNNERS (people who enter and place in 5k, 10k, 1/2 Marathons and Full Marathons across the country), can be super intimidating. But this is not the case with The Loop. Ryan and team are so friendly and helpful and will make sure to get you into the right shoe. They are encouraging to all levels of runners and will help you find the right group for your ability level. They support The Austin running community and this store is a great addition to the trail area downtown. Can you go to Academy and find a pair of running shoe for less money? Probably. But will you end up with injuries because that shoe might look cool, but is a horrible fit for your foot or stride? Definitely! And you will probably have to go back and get another pair or just give up running altogether because you didn't have a specialist helping you pick the best shoe for you. And they may not always remember your name, but they will remember you as "New Balance 880 who transitioned from Mizuno xxx". I don't remember what model the "xxx" was, but I guarantee you that Ryan does! And because they keep track of their customers and purchases on computer, you will never have to remember the brand or pesky little model number. I basically bought my most recent shoes via FB messenger. P.S. I went to the New Balance "outlet" in San Marcos a couple of weeks ago thinking I could find my shoes for a good deal. Turns out I could have purchased the 2018 model for the same price I paid for the 2019 model at the Loop today. True Story. read more

I was shopping online with them and had to call with a question. Ryan, who I believe was the person I was speaking with, was extremely helpful. I had intended on having the shoes shipped, but Ryan offered to drop them off at my door, himself, that same day. You rarely experience customer service as thorough as that. I'll be the first to admit, I'm not a big running enthusiast. But I love boxing, and my trainer is forcing me to run. Dammit. I knew I needed a decent pair of running shoes and had seen a feature on this place in Austin Fit magazine. So I decided to check them out, and man - I am so glad I did!! A little backstory - years ago I went to RunTex because I'd heard they check your feet, gait, stride, etc. and hook you up with a great shoe. My experience was less than stellar. I went to Rogue a couple years ago with the same hopes of finding a shoe that worked for my high arches. The Mizunos they put me in were a disaster. I've been wearing mostly Brooks since I was 15, but I've been having trouble finding the style I usually wear (Glycerines). Imagine my surprise when Gilbert himself spent a great deal of time and care helping me. I think I tried about 7 different shoes - including Brooks Glycerines. THIS was the kind of service I'd been hoping for at the other places. Simply amazing. This place is first-class all the way, and I can't recommend them highly enough or say enough great things about them. Thank you, Gilbert, for your patient and thoughtful help. Ryan was absolutely wonderful to work with. I am not a runner and I was looking to try out different shoes to find out what would be most comfortable on my feet for walking and maybe running at some point. He welcomed me and my little chihuahua mix dog warmly into the store. I told him that I wasn't ready to buy but that I wanted to try things on. He spent about 40 minutes with me explaining the virtues of different shoes and letting me try on several pairs. He gave me shoes at different price points and made me feel comfortable when I asked basic questions. They are the only local running store in Austin as far as I know. So glad that my first ever Yelp review will be for The Loop. It is as simple as this.....I had a Gazelle point to point long run that finished at The Loop. My car was 14 miles away and one of the owners was kind enough to drive me back to my car. Serious.....who else does that!?!?! I don't think this is something that they hope to do every day, but it is nice to see that Customer Service still exists. Great service at the Loop! I have some pretty specific injuries/shoe needs that I needed a fitting for. Both are different. One is normal....one way not normal...and a back issue to contend with. We tried 10 pairs of shoes. "We" meaning Bernard and I collaborated on each pair. He watched me walk, job barefoot and with each pair. I thought he was going to get bored but he was more determine than I was to ensure a perfect fit. I wasn't sure and he said try it for a few days and let him know. I heard that before from another shoe company only to be told, "well...you ran in them so we can't take them back" You told me to try them? So, I walked 3+ miles at Town Lake and had a concern and took them back. I spoke with someone else who said to try them another 1-2 weeks to see if the normal foot adapted to it given it was just 1 time. He took my information and assured me there'd be no problem returning them for store credit. Well, more time on the trail, volleyball court and running errands and they fit beautifully. Thanks to the team at The Loop for the help in the fitting, the great shoe and standing behind their word. Highly recommend! read more

Bought shoes here and used them immediately. Next day I was in pain and ultimately had to go to podiatrist for massive heel pain. He said the problem was Possibly the shoes, but I didn't wear them again and planned to return them. A couple of months went by before I finally got down there. Told the people my story and they understood and quickly helped me find a new pair. No questions asked, no b.s. they just wanted me to be happy. Half way from Alabama I realized I forgot my run shoes. Thinking I would need to drive all over Austin the Friday before Christmas looking for my shoes I didn't hesitate to make that first call to The Loop. New running store opened up next to the trail so I decided to stop by. The store has this hip vibe to it but at the same time you can tell they are serious about what they do. The owners are super knowledgeable and seemed pretty plugged into the Austin running community. I really loved my experience with The Loop. I'm not a super intense runner--more of the once-a-week run type of person. After some bad experiences at other running stores where I felt like I wasn't getting the guidance I wanted or was being ignored because I wasn't part of the running "clique", I dropped by the Loop with my 4-year-old running sneakers. Ryan was great! He did a really thorough gait analysis that took twice as long as other places I have been! He listened to how I use my shoes and did not seem at all judgmental that I was a true "occasional" runner, but needed some good shoes for a variety of athletic activities. read more

I love this place so much! The Loop is no question the coolest running store I've been to. They have a huge selection of first rate running shoes from a wide range of brands including Nike, Brooks, New Balance, Altra, and Skechers Performance (who are making incredible products). They also have some of the best apparel on the market. The apparel includes things like the French brand Satisfy - who uses fabrics that are normally only obtainable by elite athletes and which has an amazing design aesthetic, the American brand Tracksmith - who produces beautifully designed basics of the highest quality, and the most nicest kit you can find from companies like New Balance. They also have very cool designs on their custom Loop singlets and tees. Don't forget all the great running accessories - bottles, packs, delicious gels, the best socks you can find - etc. Their employees are all really great people, and it's locally owned and operated by passionate runners.
