Needless to will not be involved with this company ever again I tried reaching out them in response to a complaint about some items that was purchased from this location and I've reached out to the company itself about the items in question so instead of them reaching out to through phone like they promised they go send me an cheesy email for a coupon which wasn't doesn't resolve the issue at hand so therefore I will not ever go there to this establishment anymore because the fact they tried hide emails instead of reaching out by was totally disrespectful to me as customer especially when someone was supposed to call me about the situation at hand this company doesn't by there word but it's ok clothing is just worh the trouble of purchasing if they not go stand by there merchandise seriously read more

One of the best times I've had shopping in truly years. The employees were kind and competent and truly compassionate with me, and I really needed that. I had spent years trying to find clothes at target that fit, and while I could manage it, the selection just kept dwindling. It took me a while to decide to just go to DXL, I had known about it, but everything I had been told about big and tall stores made it seem like the most I could expect was bland clothing with no style to it at all, and employees that couldn't give a damn about you. I have never been more wrong, and I can't express how grateful I am to have the employees help me out. They helped me find my sizes, and were jovial to be around, and left me feeling not just unashamed, but proud to have gone there. While the clothing is pricier than Target, it feels like it will last much longer than i'm used to. It's incredibly sturdy, and lets me move without much issue. I do a lot of running around and squatting for my job, and now I can do so without awkward splits in my pants! 10/10 would go again read more

I am aways getting awards code email after spending hundreds of dollars, and the reward never works for what your buying. The dot sale they have is a joke. Lorie made this so easy--I've gained during Covid, used to be a clothes horse- this was like the service at Bergdorf's with a personal shopper who had a great sense of style and humor and helped me put together a wardrobe that would have been impossible for me to do on my own. Lorie is low key but totally "gets" it, has a great eye and can read people well. She cut through the hurdles-- totally painless and I walked out fully outfitted! What a pleasure. Excellent customer service and frIendly store clerks sum up my experience . DXL carries a wide variety of clothes which not only fit but, also make me look good. When I simply want clothes which fit me without running around to several different stores DXL has them in a wide selection which is why I don't mind the slightly high prices at DXL. DXL has become my go to regardless of city for my clothing needs. This is a larger DXL location than I am accustomed to visiting. I enjoy having the clothing a little more spread out than in the other DXL locations in Houston and New Orleans I have shopped in the past few weeks. I was greeted by a friendly employee when I came in, she asked if I was looking for anything in particular, and I said, "no, I'd like to just look around." About two minutes later she returns, directs me to some merchandise. "Thanks for showing me... I'd like to just look around," I say again. About two minutes later she returns, and talks to me about something else - Ralph Lauren Polo, or Lacoste, or something. I smile, and think to myself "I'm done." After she walks away I leave. I hope the store is watching reviews, because although I appreciate help when I need it, I also think they need to know that when someone says they want to just look around it also means "leave me alone". I just wanted to browse the store. I just wanted to look at what they had, and see if there was anything I liked... and there was, but I wasn't going to stay any longer and be "helped" to a degree that, frankly, made me uncomfortable. I didn't want to be trying on a pair of pants and have to maintain a conversation with a helpful employee. I didn't want to touch a shirt and have her comment on it. I didn't want to feel like I was being stalked, and I kind of did. Please tell your folks that while some people may want that level of attention, when they say "I'd like to look around" you should just back off and be easy to find in case they need you. read more

Nicole is the best! I was looking for an item for my uncle who was in the hospital. I called the store and Nicole voluntarily looked for similar items and saved them at the register! I called later and she still had them set aside! I came from a ways and arrived near closing time. She greeted me at the door and lead me to the checkout counter. She was patient as I called my uncle for his choice in product. Nicole followed up on store promotions, and was understanding that I was on the clock to take care of a bill and bid me a kind farewell. Nicole's fun and friendly attitude throughout the day was like sunshine during a stressful time. When many would have returned products to the shelves, Nicole's integrity was a relief. So, the pros are there's finally a store for big and tall dudes where you're not shoved away in the Corner of Shame and everything is ugly and made of polyester. Even better there's actually a selection and stuff from designers. The merch is pretty decent, if pricey. And they do alterations and stuff. The con is, as John B. said, the sales staff is like hungry sharks and you're the wounded seal. I went in and literally had two of them come up to me and box me in demanding to know how they could help me, then sort of eyeball me as I wandered around the store, obviously ready to come leaping to assist. Now I worked retail so I know it's probably not them doing it intentionally, it's some CS initiative from above, but it's super-creepy. Just let me shop, yo. read more

After leaving another retail store which wasn't that helpful and didn't carry many big and tall sizes we headed here. Impressed the moment we walked in. My boyfriend and I walk over to the dress shirts with a paper of his measurements from the last retailer. Within a minute we had an employee asking questions in order to help us find what we were looking for. A couple minutes has passed and we found some styles and another employee came over and measured my boyfriend again because what size we had said leaned more towards the longer arm length vs the short. Dress shirts got tried on and purchased. Long story short.. We got excellent service and were able to get what we came for. My boyfriend even mentioned how great the experience was. Destination XL is just Casual Male rebranded and trying to appear more upscale. I've shopped at Casual Male for years, but this was my first experience at DXL. I have four main complaints. The first two item apply to the whole chain; the last two are specific to the north Austin location. 1. The prices are outrageous. $55 for store brand jeans? CM/DXL has a monopoly on big & tall, and they take full advantage on it. Yes, I will keep shopping here, but only because I don't have another option. 2. Their Thanksgiving ad was deliberately misleading. It boldly advertised 2 for 1 "plus" $35 off on the weekend. When I got there, they told me the fine print said the 2 for 1 was only on Wed and Fri. I could have saved more if I came earlier, but I waited until Saturday to get the "plus". Even after I reread the flyer, I couldn't see how anyone would interpret it correctly. 3. The whole store was saturated with a strong perfume. I asked about it, and they said it was an air freshener, but it was worse than the perfume counter in mall department stores. It gave me an immediate headache, and I had to take a nap when I got home to clear my head before I could function. The next day when I opened the bag and removed my shirts, the perfume hit me again and gave me another headache. The first time I wore one of the shirts FOUR DAYS LATER, it still had a strong perfume smell. 4. I'm a grown man who can choose his own clothes. Three salespeople approached me, and I declined help from each. To their credit, they were polite about it, but it was overkill. At the checkout, the lady asked who helped me. I said no one, but she pushed me to give her a name. I said I talked to three people about the perfume, but I selected my own clothes. She told me to just pick someone. I said no, so she just randomly picked a salesperson to credit for the sale. Don't make me answer the same question three times; just do what you have to do and let me get the hell out of this store. read more

Positive first, 1) Great merchandising, its great going to a retail store where you know your size is in stock, and sales people match your body style etc. Stylish clothes, I really like the store. 2) Very helpful staff (more on this later) and seamstress / tailor on site, and every ready for work on a Sunday. Negative 1) Very expensive clothes, it seems like the prices here are about 30% more than most places. Maybe I need to join some VIP club or wait for sales. 2) You can 100% tell the sales staff is commission / performance based. Without a doubt, the guy who helped me was VERY informative, and friendly and provided white glove service. The problem comes from doing some window shopping on line and drove into the store prepared to pay ~$180 for a sport coat, but when I asked what I needed a $298 coat was put on, and when I questioned the price I was told that everything else in the store was inferior. No other option was offered or tried on, and it felt a little pushy. I bought the Jacket, jeans and belt and had some minor adjustments made and the cost was $490+ . The salesman told if I didn't buy a 28 dollar cedar hanger that moths would eat my jacket. I didn't buy the cedar hanger. read more

Great store, great service, until you need alterations. I was told that the alterations would cost 12.00, it was 25.00. I was told the alterations would be done 3 days after purchase. A week later they were still not done, mainly because the salesperson neglected to charge me, so I had to go back into the store, pay for the alterations at 25.00 instead of 12.00 and then wait 4 more days to get my pants. read more

So I usually order things from here all the time and I preordered a shirt to which I was told was going to ship to me in two weeks. Then I was told that it would ship a week later. Then when I went and checked they canceled my order and stated that they didn't get any of the shipment in which was untrue. I went on their site and the only size that was left was a 3x which is not what I ordered. No gift card no nothing. The person who I spoke with the first time told me it was arriving late but its coming and I would still get it for Christmas then the second person stated that they never got the shipment and won't be getting it at this point. I was highly upset and they didn't offer me any kind of reconciliation of this matter. read more

DLX big and tall clothing store located in victoria gardens area is the store that I shopped at to purchase shoes, pants and several belts totaling several hundred dollars. One of the belts purchased I had worned 3 times which came apart. Shoddy manufactured of belt loop attached to belt costing under one hundred dollars. They would not replace the expensive belt a replacement belt stating and that it was one me. Buyer BEWARE when purchasing from DLX Big and Tall stores and note where it is made! read more

was at your store in pigeon forge and felt discriminated because i was told i could not use the restroom. i asked him how people was supposed to shop and where would they use the restroom in an emergency. he said he was not opening it becuase beople did not clean up thir mess? i would like a reply from your corporate office as to why this is is the policy and why you allow dressing rooms open but not restrooms? i feel i was discreminated because of my weight as he was insinuating over weight people are not clean. i will never give your stores another red cent. i run a business and offer restrooms for your employees when they enter. you all should be ashamed. ps, i was not the only one in this location that left due to this. i watched two other customers leave becuase they could not use the restrooms. i did put down over $300 worth of clothing. your loss! read more

I have shopped at several DXL stores; but this one deserves a special mention. Upon entering the store, Teresa greeted me, introduced herself and shook my hand. All that I needed was a simple collar extender for the dress shirt that I was wearing. She quickly found what I was looking for. I noticed that this DXL store was larger and offered a larger selection than any other I had shopped previously. I was truly impressed. I am a big guy and often have trouble finding proper-fitting shirts. I gave Teresa my shirt size. Without hesitation, she found a large selection of shirts in my size. She selected one which was close to the color I was wearing. The shirt was a bit pricier than my usual; but it seemed like a nice shirt, and I decided to buy it and wear it. Teresa was very helpful in removing all the pins, and she led me to a dressing room. When I asked if the shirt took cuff links; she said that their tailors could alter that for me. Since I was short on time; I took a pass on her offer. The shirt was a perfect fit -- far better than my original shirt. As she was ringing up the items, she explained how they could integrate items found online to their store stock. Previously, I would find items online, only to learn that it was not in stock. Clearly, that was in the last century. Now i feel if I see an item online, I can rely on Teresa at this DXL to offer me what I want, or a reasonable alternate choice. Teresa was a joy to deal with and now I have confidence that DXL understands the true meaning of "Customer Service". BRAVO!! read more

Unlike the other two reviewers, I had a very different experience in that no salespeople so much as acknowledged me during my visit! That is a good thing. If I need help I'll go ask for it. However, at 6'6" / 230 it seemed this was not the store for me. I am very tall but relatively slender, and the clothes here were for tall AND large men. The jean waist sizes started in the 40s. I was hoping to find a 36/36 or something but saw nothing remotely close. The shirts also seemed more like moo-moos than shirts. Sigh... read more

I love this store! My husband and I went in there today looking to buy a couple of shirts and a pair of shorts for him. We had already looked online and knew what brands we were looking for, and luckily, the store is divided by brand names! The sales associate greeted us when we entered, asked if she could help (we said no), and she let us browse around. The thing I love most about this store is that my husband usually hates shopping. As a guy who wears a 3XL, it's rare to find his size most places, and if we do, it's normally something he doesn't like. This store had a GREAT selection. We found four shirt, and he came out of the dressing room smiling and modeling his clothes. The sales associate then came back to check on us, took the clothes to the register, and brought us back ice cold waters. The store has a really good range of high end pricey stuff to casual and affordable brands. I will be taking my husband there whenever he needs to shop from now on. Please ask them if alterations are included when you purchase a $800 suit. For the record they are not included. Kind of a ripoff if you ask me. I also let the sales girl grab a button down shirt to go under my new suit and I should of tried it on before I left. It was about three sizes to big. They are great at customer service because they are all on commission. The prices are very high, but they are the only game in town and you have to pay the big bucks for over sized men's cloths. I had such a great experience shopping at this DXL! Yes it is pricier than other locations that provide clothing for plus sized men, but the quality is great to match. Even though I have been to this location before, this was probably my best experience. I was in the market for a suit/suit jacket. I happened to go to the clearance rack and their happened to be one available in my size. Although it was exactly what I needed, it did need some alterations. I didn't even really need the pants, which would have required $100+ in alterations. Liz really helped me make the best decisions when altering the jacket, gave me some insight in to how I can make clothes I already own look a little less baggy and how they could compliment the suit jacket appropriately. She was so patient, especially with me constantly distracted by a toddler, and was able to help me tremendously. She also guaranteed my alterations with a very quick turnaround. I will definitely be back! read more

I've been a very satisfied DXL customer that's bought the Gold Series brand of pants for almost 20 years. However, a few years ago, DXL started implementing the Perfect Fit styling in these pants. Perfect Fit is terrible because it means there's little room in the crotch, they're tight in the thighs, and even the waist is too narrow and tight (other reviewers about the Gold Series of pants are making these same complaints but DXL is not listening). This Perfect Fit styling makes no sense since DXL's products are supposed to be geared towards big and tall men. By the way, DXL's website is misleading because it doesn't state that these use the Perfect Fit styling. Furthermore, the color of one of the pairs I bought was supposed to be "navy" but it actually was a light blue color; one of the pairs I bought was supposed to be "black" but it actually was a gray color; one of the pairs was supposed to be "dark taupe" but was actually a khaki color...what is going on?! The fabric has also been made thinner (everything about these pants is being made of a cheaper quality). So, since I couldn't try them on before buying at the store, these will be thrown away. A total waste! Run, don't walk, away from these pants! I'm never buying any Gold Series pants again. And, DXL does not stock other brands of dress pants in any of my local stores so I'm going to avoid DXL entirely and instead buy pants from JC Penney and Kohl's from now on. And, to add insult to injury, when I posted my negative review on their website, DXL refused to publish my review. read more

I ordered a Kenneth Cole coat online thru the DXL Website. When I received the coat it was too big. Reviewing my order information it was totally my fault, I had clicked on the wrong size. I didn't want to go through the hassles of shipping it back so I called the DXL store over in The Arbor Walk. The rep I spoke to explained that they didn't currently have any of those particular coats in stock but I could come in and check out what they had if I wanted to exchange it or they would even take the coat and reorder the correct size for me. I was happily surprised that they would go to such lengths when it was my order mistake to begin with. So I grabbed the coat and headed over to the DXL store. All the guys working there were friendly, super helpful and easy going with no sales pressure. I tried on a couple Ralph Lauren coats that I didn't like as much as the Kenneth Cole so they simply ordered my new coat online. That was Saturday and I received the coat on Tuesday. Perfect Fit! The DXL store is good-looking with a great selection of clothing for us bigger dudes. I can't wait to get back there for some more shopping. Thanks DXL bros read more

Horrible!!!!!!! My husband bought a shirt here got home to put it on to wear to a wedding and noticed a stain on the arm. He had taken the tags off since we were planning on keeping it, he called told them the situation the lady remembered him said to bring it in tomorrow and we can get it fixed for you. He gets up there right when they open and she said well since you opened it we can only return it minus $7 because they are going to send it to dry cleaners and put it back on the shelf????? WHAT!!!!!! First off wasn't aware this was a second hand store. Second, the day before it was no big deal he obviously didn't wear it because he called about 30 minutes after he left the store. Very disappointing!!!! Won't have our business anymore. read more

I had been hesitating for a while to buy a pair of DXL men's cargo pants, but I caved, and bought 2 pair. The fabric is great, but the cargo side pockets are too far down the leg near the knee!, very inconvenient to reach for. I will not order another item from DXL, nor could I recommend them either. read more
