My AC had been performing rather poorly for many years. My lower level was sufficiently cool but I typically had to leave my upper level around 82 degrees during the heat of summer just so it would shut off. I finally decided to take the plunge and get it replaced. I put my project out to bid to 4 companies. 2 came back with astronomical prices. 1 never provided me anything in writing. The Ac in my home started blowing warm air. Chris came by on a Saturday and checked the system . It was low on freon. He added freon to the system and it started cooling but he advised it probably has a leak. Approximately 6 weeks later it stopped cooling again. We can't say enough about Chris and his employees. Our air conditioner failed Wednesday night. We left a Chris a message and by 8 on Thursday morning he called us back. I wasn't aware that there was a primary and a secondary drain on most home ACs and was rudely made aware of this by my HOA just this weekend. Evidently the main drain can get clogged with debris (rust, sediment, etc.) and needs to be blown out with compressed air and have bleach poured down the drain annually. I called several AC places after looking at Yelp reviews and 'AC By Chris' was the first available that had good ratings. Chris answered the call and was professional and courteous. He listened to my description and knew what the issue was immediately and had Orlando to my house in a little over an hour. Orlando was professional, personal and to the point. Chris has replaced two original ACs for my house in the last three years. The most recent one was a couple weeks ago. I highly recommend Chris and his team for the following reasons. 1. Chris is very responsive and kept promise. I contacted Chris on Saturday and he showed up first thing on the next Monday for my warm air blowing AC. Freon in my 14 years AC leaked out and Chris suggested to replace it. He scheduled the replacement on Thursday and his team showed up first thing on the Thursday morning. 2. His price is lower than other two "highly rated" AC contractors. He used Carrier Performance series which is the middle line of the Carrier product line. 4. The new AC installation is all about workmanship. His installation team is super efficient and knowledgeable. The entire plenum was rebuilt and the new unit looks neat after the installation. I would actually give them a ZERO star...first of all they don't have good customer service because when I called them they were very rude just because they do free diagnostics it doesn't give them an authority to call the customer liar or dishonest. Even though they provide free diagnostics they will charge you double for the service if you go with them. I got mine fix for half price that he provided. Free diagnostics is a SCAM from this company and I would not suggest this crappy service to anyone. read more

AC by Chris is amazing. I cannot recommend them enough. Chris and his team are the most friendly, helpful, honest, and professional service team I have ever used for any service. We had warm air blowing but didn't notice until late in the evening. Chris answered the phone himself (after hours) on the first call and his crew came out the next day. Ok, I took a chance and went with a new HVAC company today and I couldn't be happier with their service and pricing. My AC stopped working last night and the temp inside was over 85deg. This review was originally written on June 16 2012. Don't know why it didn't post then. Called A/C by Chris and Chris answered the phone himself. Told him that our house was hit by lighting last night and our A/C was out, among other things. I asked if he did insurance estimates and he asked exactly what had happened. After I told him he said that there is a separate breaker for the A/C unit and where to find it. Told me what to do and to call him back in 5 minutes to tell him what was up and he'd be over if need be. Well he fixed the problem over the phone! He could have come over and bs'd me and got a service call and maybe an insurance repair or replacement job. But no. He was honest and helpful . I WILL be using and recommending him to others in the future. read more

I had two A/C units go out on the same day. On one of them I had recently replaced the condenser unit switch due to ants, so I figured there was something more serious. Called A/C by Chris based on a friend's recommendation. They came out and determined that the ants had attacked the new switch and the switch in the second unit. Brian said that he could install two new switches, but that it would be pointless until the ants were taken care of. There was no charge for the diagnosis - which I really appreciated - most other companies would have charged just for coming out. I bought some ant killer, took care of the ants, and replaced/fixed the switches. Then I called A/C by Chris to do maintenance/checkup on the two units and another. They checked these out and found they were working fine, no leaks - good to know since the units are 13 years old. They also fixed an annoying vibration heard in the room opposite the condensers with one unit's coolant lines. Turned out just needed to redo the duct tape wrapping the coolant lines (disintegrated after 13 years). Very happy about that - it's been doing it for several years - other A/C companies hadn't figured this out. I'll recommend these guys to all my friends. read more

Woke up this morning, the house was cold and the furnace wouldn't come on. Checked the circuit breakers and they were OK. I finally called AC By Chris about 1PM. Needed a new AC in January!!! Called Chris up and he sent Brian and team out to give us a quote. Brian explained the numbers in detail so that we would understand and at no time did we feel like they were charging for something we didn't need. Told them we would need to wait until our tax return before we could do anything but we TX weather, that quickly changed.
