We've worked with Jacob twice now. The first time I requested a system evaluation because it seemed like it was running all day despite leaving the temp set to 79 degrees. He came out within a few hours with another gentleman and got right to work. They were both kind and professional. They answered my questions and explained the high summer temps were the reason for the system was running so much. They didn't charge us for this service call. The second time, I texted Jacob on a Saturday to ask if they had some time to come by as our system was running but the house was only getting hotter. By far the best experience replacing an HVAC system we could have asked for. Our 20 year old system was starting to make funny, squeaky sounds when it ran and we could tell it was on its last leg. After being bombarded with companies and bids, we were told by a coworker about Tall Guys A/C. We scheduled a bid and they were in and up in the attic within minutes. I'm a very smart and capable handy man who does excellent work. When I inevitably punched through my coolant line while nailing in baseboards and completely drained my R22 system, I admitted defeat. I called another company first that said there was nothing they could do and told me they would need to run a new line. Not liking that answer, I called Tall Guy. Before I discovered Tall Guy I was paying way too much, but tall guy taught me how to fix it myself by unclogging my drain. Easy. I'm also super impressed by how responsive and fast he is, he responds quickly via phone and email normally the same day, except that time it broke at night and he responded to my email the next day. Once he correctly diagnosed the problem over the phone, which resolved the issue. I don't think he even charged me. When my heat pump stopped working during 8 degree weather in our Feb 2021 winter storm, I tried calling a few places, including the company who installed my system. A few didnt call back (prob due to the inclement weather situation - everything is closed) and one was able to come out "sometime Thursday" (it was Monday and supposed to be freezing for the next 4-5 days). Called their service first thing in the morning the day our air stopped working. Jacob answered the phone personally and got my information. He scheduled me that afternoon. Came by and diagnosed the problem within 10 minutes. My system is over 15 years old and I had a feeling he was going to give me the bad news that it had to be replaced. Instead he gave me the great news that it was only a capacitor. He literally could have told me it was almost anything and I would have probably believed it and paid it. Our air conditioning recently went out on a Friday evening. Because of course on Friday. Their Facebook chat rep was responsive and got me onto the schedule to be seen first thing Monday morning. Another AC company had come out and told us that about $700 worth of parts would have to be replaced to even see if the condenser was working properly. The unit was 23 years old, so I figured it's time to replace it. I got the first AC company to offer a bid and asked Tall Guy to do the same thing on Monday. Within about 15 minutes of their arrival, Jacob came inside and told me he had fixed our AC unit. I was stunned and told him I thought they were just bidding a replacement. His response was that he wanted us to have AC during late July/early August and to not have to make a big decision under duress. Further, he said that he wasn't going to charge us for the repair, even if we went with another company's bid to replace the AC unit. He said just to call him and he'd come out and take his parts off, free of charge. Needless to say, I was absolutely shocked by his level of service for us, then I was pleasantly surprised by how competitive his bid was to replace our outside unit and furnace. It was significantly cheaper than the other company with a warranty that's twice as long. These guys are the best and they're the only AC company I'm going to call going forward. It's been a slog - truly cruel and unusual punishment, from repair costs (including $800 in freon in May that just went, who knows where) to replacing this and replacing that....I called in another company for a total replacement when I couldn't reach Tall Guy after hours and that's on me and my lack of patience in trip digit weather...and got a quote for alot of money. After having disastrous experiences with two different A/C companies over the last few years (both of which used to be locally owned but were bought out by national companies, which ruined them) and being cheated by both and spending thousands of dollars on A/C repairs which were not done properly, I thankfully found out about Tall Guy A/C & Heat from my brother, who owns a car/truck A/C business. He has known the owner of Tall Guy A/C, Jeff Carter, for years and highly recommended him for our newest problem, a leak in our evaporator coil (the third coil we've had in 9 years!). Jeff works with his son Jacob, so it is truly a local, small business. They came out promptly and after finding out that we had our third evaporator coil leak on a 10 year old A/C unit and not wanting to spend close to $2,000 on that repair again, we decided to have Jeff and Jacob install a new Rheem unit. (Our old unit was Lennox and we will never have one again.) They came out a few days later and in just a few hours had our new unit installed and working great. They immediately registered the new unit with Rheem and emailed us proof of the 10 year warranty. My husband and I were both impressed with Jeff's and Jacob's honesty, straight-forward answers to all our questions, and their knowledge. Jeff has been in the A/C business for 35 years and Jacob has worked with his dad for at least 10. They don't have any other employees, so I was a bit concerned about what would happen if we decide to use them from now on and the typical situation occurs where our A/C stops cooling and it's 100 degrees outside. Jacob said they work weekends and even holidays and will come out on weekends for existing customers, usually by the next day, and that they can fix most problems quickly. They stand behind their work and work with Rheem to get any issues resolved quickly.
