    Nduja!
    Bob B.

This is a lovely little place, very informal and friendly. I came here to try/get nduja, which I'd heard about but never tried. It's very different than I imagined but now I know what all the fuss is about and I get it! They've had such demand that they were packing boxes of nduja in the front room and people were coming in to pick up orders they'd called in. In addition to selling nduja, they also make sandwiches that use the product, and they sell some other italian products. I got some of the Calabrian pecorino. I'd had "pecorino" before but this actually reminded me of some very local cheeses I'd had in villages in southern Turkey of all places. I guess what it has in common is being an old style, all natural product made of local ingredients with no artificial ingredients, and not mass-produced. I talked for a while with the owner, a lovely, unassuming guy who's passionate about the foods and traditions of his region. I ended up getting some of the pecorino and a small amount of nduja to try; it will clearly not be enough.

It's like Calabria in Seattle - they host warm, welcoming aperitivo every month or so. Their nduja is delicious & pairs well with wine or aperol. Fun live music with rotating musicians. You're sure to make a friend or two. I love this laidback, intimate venue which bridges the gap between a bar & restaurant. A must visit! Tell Giuseppe Ani sent you lol

The noodles had the perfect texture, and although the sauce was just a simple tomato sauce, it was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and comforting. It really proves that you don't need a long list of ingredients to create an amazing dish when everything is made with quality and care. We ordered for pickup, and our food was ready in about 10 minutes, which was a nice bonus. Finding the restaurant was easy--it's tucked inside the Atrium building at Pike Place Market. Just walk south past the famous fish market, and you'll see the Atrium entrance. It's a bit of a hidden gem, but it's definitely worth seeking out. I'd definitely come back just for this pasta!

You walk in and order at a self-service kiosk, and there are plenty of options to customize your pasta. You can choose from different pasta types and sauces, which makes it easy to build exactly what you want. We ordered the short rib pasta and the carbonara, along with a cannoli for dessert. After ordering, you seat yourself and they call your name when the food is ready. We had no problem finding a table for two. There seemed to be a lot of takeout orders coming through. Both pastas tasted fresh and were cooked al dente, just as advertised. The carbonara was creamy and flavorful. The short rib itself was good, but the pasta and sauce were a bit separated, so the pasta didn't absorb as much flavor as I expected. The cannoli was very filling and had a hint or orange in it. Overall, it's a good spot if you're looking for quick, customizable pasta. Just keep in mind that it's more of a fast-casual place rather than a full sit-down service restaurant.

Upon setting foot inside, the employee at the counter was super welcoming and friendly. She held my flowers for me at the front while I looked around. We are having a friend over for dinner this week who we have not seen in over a year, so we wanted to make it extra nice. This is a PERFECT place to stop for a host/hostess/housewarming gift, FYI. There is local honey, wine, meats, tamales, cheese, fresh pasta they make themselves, pantry items and canned goods like St. Jude's tuna. Plus Sweet Alchemy ice cream! I grabbed a jar of pickled asparagus and had to resist buying some really tempting dip they make in-house. As I was checking out, the staff person mentioned that the Tall Grass baked goods in the case were free because they were two days old and would be replaced the next morning by a fresh batch. So nice! I brought home a savory spinach breakfast item with me, which my partner greatly appreciated. Hint: Make sure you have cash on hand for a tip! They can't include tips on card purchases.

We ordered the Meatball Sub and Eggplant Sub with marinara sauce. Both sandwiches were flavorful and satisfying. The meatball sub was hearty and comforting, while the eggplant sub had a rich marinara sauce that worked well with the sandwich. We were especially disappointed that the Cubano was sold out, as it was one of the main reasons we stopped by. The only drawback was the price--at around $20 per sandwich, it felt a bit expensive for what you get, especially considering it was just a 6-inch sub, even though the quality was good. We visited during a FIFA World Cup match, so the line was quite long, but it moved steadily and efficiently. No complaints there. The atmosphere is casual and straightforward, with indoor seating only. Its downtown location near the stadiums makes it a convenient spot for a quick meal before or after an event. Overall, a good sandwich shop with quality food, though the pricing keeps it from being a must-visit. I'd still come back to finally try that Cubano.

Just wander along each aisle, you'll understand and be inspired. Also, what an expansive meat and cheese case with knowledgeable staff for your charcuterie needs! Back on the main floor towards 1st Avenue, there's a busy espresso bar and where one can get an Italian panini or pizza slices to go. Highly recommended while at Pike Place Market. Buon Appetito!

Even though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy during our visit, our server was extremely quiet and difficult to hear, which made communication a bit challenging. One nice touch was the complimentary bread service, which came with a generous amount of butter. We started with the artichokes from the seasonal menu. I was expecting them to be served warm or roasted, but they arrived cold, which was admittedly a misunderstanding on my part. The accompanying sauce was excellent though and definitely saved the dish for me. We also ordered the tajarin al ragù, one of the restaurant's signature dishes. Unfortunately, this was where my expectations and experience diverged. The pasta felt under-seasoned to me, and the noodles seemed overcooked. Rather than the silky texture I was hoping for, I found myself eating what felt like clumps of dough. It was a dish I really wanted to love given its reputation, but it just didn't click for me. We weren't looking for a heavy dinner, so we only ordered a couple of items. It's entirely possible we came on an off night or simply didn't choose the restaurant's strongest dishes. I'd be open to giving Cascina Spinasse another try in the future, but this visit left me feeling a bit underwhelmed compared to the hype.
