Hello Big 5 Sporting Goods - Studio City!…read more It's been a hot minute since I strolled in and found some fun finds, including a par of awesome combat boots in my size (13). Even though I was more on a browsing expedition with one item set in mind the Big 5 Sporting Good Crew of SC was super friendly, personable and very much supportive of one another as well as all customers in the store. It's a boutique style Big 5 - located on Ventura Place between Laurel Canyon Blvd and Radford Avenue, parallel to Venture Blvd. I don't pop in much as other locations speak to me a little better in terms of what I need or might be looking for. All locations could use a modern update or some tlc - it does feel a bit like a 90s time capsule... I did luck in a portable fan, double AA battery powered and perfect for a humid and/or super sunny day. Batteries are reasonable here as well. Good deals on sporting goods, beach gear, apparel, indoor and outdoor goods. I can't remember the last time I saw a Big 5 that carried firearms but this is one of the locations. Obviously they aren't loaded and it's all about safety first, but it caught me off guard with so many families and kids in the store. They carry a huge variety of everything from tents and canopies to baseball gear and softball equipment. Swimwear, camping things and even have in-store as well as online sales, deals and coupons. Street and private lot parking with access through the alley, making it easy during Sundays with the Farmers Market direct in front along the street. Hours vary through the week, but service and selection is always consistent.

After I had lunch with a friend of mine yesterday, I decided to stop by at this particular store in Van Nuys to check out the store, and if they had what I was looking for. Yes they did! I needed boxing gloves since I take a class, a women's sports bra in black, (was on clearance rack 50% off). Not too shabby. I also needed a folding chair that I can use to sit outside. I found the exact chair in the color that I was looking for. It was $15 NOT/including tax. It even has a cup holder which is a plus. I also needed a Foam Roller for my back. Got that too. Last, but not least, I needed 2 and half pound dumbbells. They had pink and black. I went with the pink color. That's all I needed from this store yesterday. Everything was nicely organized, got a very nice welcome from 2 of their employees, store was clean with decent sized parking lot, and they did have a bathroom. Love Big 5. They truly have anything & everything for all of your athletic needs. Go get what you need!!

We have had a terrible, horrible, customer experience with this business. We have sent several emails, several more texts and calls to the person who initially took our order (who was quite communicative in the beginning until payment was taken) with little to no response. As a customer who spent nearly $12,000 on an order that was placed in OCTOBER, we deserve much more respect than this. As of December 30th we have only received half of our initial order. Nazo Boxing seems to operate under there own rules of service and most likely prioritize some customers over others. I.e the Floyd Mayweather marketing photos. I warn anyone who is thinking about purchasing from this business to consider other options. Customers deserve to be treated better. read more

How do I give zero stars? After spending around $1,800 total -- including $300 just for shipping --…read moreI feel obligated to share my experience. When my order arrived, the product was damaged and defective. The pole had two visible chips. The stage plate had a dent. The gel protectors on the stage feet were already peeling and falling off. Worst of all, no matter how much I adjust or raise the stage, when I step on a certain plate it pops downward toward the base. That's not just cosmetic -- it's a serious safety concern. To be clear, this damage was NOT caused by transit. These are obvious manufacturing and quality control issues. However, the company repeatedly tried to suggest it could have been due to shipping, which was extremely frustrating given the nature of the defects. For this price point, the quality is unacceptable. When you pay $1,800 (with $300 of that being shipping alone), you expect proper quality control and a product that arrives in excellent condition. They eventually offered an exchange -- but said it wouldn't even be available for another month and still couldn't guarantee the quality due to possible transit issues. Waiting another month for a replacement that may also arrive defective is not a real solution. That response was incredibly discouraging. What's even more disappointing is that I purchased a stage from this company three years ago and the quality was absolutely perfect. That's why I chose to buy from them again. The difference in quality now is shocking. This one feels like a complete piece of junk in comparison. After three weeks of back and forth without a proper resolution, I felt I had no choice but to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Between the manufacturing defects, safety concerns, declining quality, and poor resolution process, this experience has been incredibly disappointing. If you're considering purchasing, you may want to explore other companies. At this price point, customers deserve much better.

The Sebenza purchase is actually a very funny and memorable story for me. One day, I was out for a drive with my three-year-old daughter, who always falls asleep better when I play music in the car. After she dozes off, I usually take her home and put her to bed. That day, while driving past the knife shop's new location, I noticed a celebrity walking into the store. I won't say who he was, but he's been around for a long time, and I'm a huge fan. Of course, I pulled into the parking lot and went inside right away. Besides the employees, it was just me and him in the store. I walked over to a display featuring some knives I had been considering for a while--kind of a grail knife for me. Clearly, I was just stalling, and everyone knew it, but they were kind and polite. Meanwhile, my three-year-old daughter ran all over the store, touching the glass display cases and leaving smudges everywhere. One of the employees casually followed behind her, quietly cleaning the glass but never saying anything rude to me or my daughter. After standing around for what felt like an uncomfortably long time, I decided to bite the bullet and make a purchase. I still have that knife and use it regularly, just like any other pocket knife. But every once in a while, I look at it, smile, and think about that day--the day I stood awkwardly close to one of my childhood idols, unable to say anything intelligible, while my daughter ran around making noise and leaving fingerprints on everything. It is one of the local bike shops that is assigned as a current dealer for XDS X-Lab bikes. When I went in, I was greeted by Bam and Lucy. Despite them not having my desired bike, they said they would inquire with the XDS manufacturer on when the bike inventory would be restocked. Lucy and Bam were helpful, patient, and friendly. Lucy said she would get back to me with availability details. That was Sunday. Monday, she called to tell me the manufacturer gave her a specific date. Not only was Lucy able to source the bike that was sold out online at the time (and still is on the XDS website), but my bike arrived and was assembled on the exact day she said it would be. When I picked up the bike, Lucy and Jamie were thorough with explaining to me the components and accessories of the bike and offered helpful tidbits. Lucy even helped me squeeze the bike into my hatchback. She's right, I need a bike rack.
