Chilaquiles w carnitas on top

Had a fabulous birthday brunch with friends here yesterday and tried the chilaquiles and oh em gee!!! They were perfect, delicious and had great service. Highly recommend!!

Chicken and waffles.? What?

The location is nice and there is plenty of parking in the back of the resturant. Walking into the resturant it was open and big but a little dark in the area we sat. The wait staff was pleasant but slow. The food was disappointing and just basic! The country potatoes sounded great and delicious when I ordered them but when they came they were salty and crispy all the way around. The salmon omelette with cream cheese is what I ordered and I was hoping it was going to be screaming by the description but it wasn't! So sad! The chicken and waffles is what my hubs ordered...oh wow that was sadder than mine...the waffles looked like frozen eggo waffles not even a big Belgium waffle literally....the chicken though boneless was meh. So the question is would I come here again...I think I might have to pass. Small college town I guess I'm expecting that mmmmm wow factory but it didnt

dragging the zucchini on the avocado toast breakfast plate

I think they were really trying hard to do a good job today. They weren't ready for the amount of people that were in town for the weekend of special events around the university. This place is really popular for their champagne brunch. But for warned when this place gets busy, it is so loud you can't even hear yourself talk. The weight was about 30 to 45 minutes to get seated. We all thought our food was pretty good. Except I was disappointed that some of my zucchini on my avocado toast order was dragging from my plate. I didn't order extra dark toast either. My friend had to send back his coffee because it was lukewarm also. Again it was super busy so I'd like to say they were doing the best they could. Maybe next time we need to drink more champagne.

Chicken fried chicken!! Yummy!!!

OK, first of all let me say this is only the second time that I've been to this place both times are pretty decent. Service was really good. Ambience was decent for that type of restaurant. Food was not bad. I really like the chicken fried chicken. Not a lot of places make it this way. It's usually chicken fried steak so this one was really better!! Potatoes were ok ! I think I'll do Ashly browns next time though!! Over all not bad! When I go back to. Chico I will try again to raise the stars!! If you out here check it out!!! I will put up picks to see what we had!!

We came for Sunday breakfast and had about a 10 minute wait. The interior is cute and clean. The service was great, they were quick and attentive. We ordered the Sausage Scramble and The Hangover and both were delicious. I especially enjoyed the Country Potatoes. We will be back! (Both breakfasts included Cheese which we did without)

First Nash's is a Chico Icon! Their champagne brunch was of legends, everywhere in Chico has scaled back on free-flowing bubbles. Secondly, we were a party of 19 to celebrate my nieces birthday. We made reservations so they knew we were coming. However, it took 45 minutes for them to take our food order. The drink girl was awesome & she pretty much stayed on top of it. Food took about 30 minutes to come out, not unreasonable with a large party. The hostesses brought the food out together when it was ready. One downside is those who ordered eggs benedict mostly had hard centers vs true poached. Only one out of 5 orders was perfect. Overall. 5 for refreshment server 5 beautiful patio 3 food 1 time waited to order 1 parking

First off, this restaurant is huge. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. We came on a Sunday morning and we didn't have to wait. The service was great. Each server that came to our table was very personable. The food was delicious and they served huge portions. The house potato's and hashbrowns are super crispy. I would recommend the chicken and waffles. If you want more veggies, my friend really enjoyed the garden burrito.

Reuben thin sliced meat and small portion

This is a wonderful building and it has a nice spacious, openness and cleanliness. The staff were very efficient, however not overly pleasant. We ordered two dishes. One was the Reuben with the side salad? Both were very unremarkable. The Reuben came with 3 ultra thin deli, sliced pastrami, ther was no real sauerkraut to speak of, and the bread was burnt. It was very obvious the bread was burnt when it was served to me, and there was no effort to fix the burnt crust. The other dish was a special, called angel hair pasta, which came in a very small bowl Was completely dry except for the grease at the bottom of the bowl. I guess that's enough said about all that.

Belgian Waffles with strawberries and whipped cream

The most unique country potatoes I've ever had! I believe they're bartered, crispy in the outside and soft in the inside, I'm a fan of potatoes, so these were my favorite. Everything else was very tasty too, I really liked the Chicken Fried Chicken and the Carnitas Benedicts. I honestly didn't think the Benedicts would be good with carnitas but my son shared and I was wrong, I'm glad I got to try them. The service was pretty fast and friendly. The place seems very popular around the area, there were people waiting in line by the time we were leaving. The inside of the place felt very cozy with those cabin vibes, I had a lovely experience dining here.

Does anyone know the name of the red sauce that comes in the squirt bottle on the tables? I saw the actual container it comes in once when I was there, but I forgot the name.

The pepper plant, they sell it at s&s or amazon

(Make sure to ask one of the employees about the hanging coffee mugs!) What really stood out was the service. The servers worked together seamlessly, refilling drinks, topping off coffee, bringing requested extras, and checking in with guests. Definitely a well-oiled machine! As a solo diner, I had the opportunity to sit back and observe, and I was genuinely impressed. Every interaction seemed friendly, heartfelt, and professional. What a great combination! The restaurant itself is a sweet, unpretentious little diner. Pretty packed for a Tuesday morning, but I happened to arrive at just the right time and was seated without a wait. Coffee wasn't great but I did drink two cups so I probably shouldn't complain. :) On their menu, it states "We are proud of our large servings, so sharing a meal with an extra plate +.75. Half portions of omelettes and scrambles are available, price varies." Great option for me but pricewise, it's only $1.50 less. Something to consider. I ordered the Mexican Omelette, filled with green chiles, tomatoes, green onions, and Jack cheese, then topped with salsa and sour cream. The salsa was delicious and full of flavor, although a wee bit overpowering. It became the dominant flavor, and I found myself missing the green chiles and melty Jack cheese that I was looking forward to. That said, everything worked well together, and I'd absolutely order it again, just with the salsa on the side! Perfectly crispy hash browns and toasty English muffin rounded out this hearty breakfast. Delicious diner breakfast and incredible service!

We held the door for an elderly couple leaving as we entered, so for the sake of argument let's say we crossed their threshold at exactly 1:30 pm. "Hostess" ( college girl with messy hair under a baseball cap) immediately informs us they are CLOSED. No hello no greeting at all, just and abrupt , "We are closed." Huh. Sign says 2 pm?!!! She kinda shrugs us off with a parting comment, "we stop seating at 1:30." News to me, we've been coming here for five plus years and always between 1:30 and 2:00 pm. Never ever had a problem or had anyone tell us about this 1:30 pm seating rule. Ok. But I show her my phone. "it's 1:30 now" and she just shrugs and says sorry. Disappointed, we cruise over to The Farmers Skillet located a few miles away in Chico on Rio Lindo. We strolled in at 1:50 pm, noting they also close at 2 pm. I ask politely if we are too late even though our hostess already has two menus in her hand and a smile on her face. "Not at all," she exclaims and then says "Welcome". Service there was warm, and unhurried. The Roost could learn a lesson here. If your 24/7 policy is to stop serving half an hour prior to closing then it should be posted, and door locked maybe? I know Deja Vu (also in Chico, on the Esplanade) closes at 2 pm and they have the CLOSED sign up with door locked at 1:45 pm. We shan't be returning. Very disrespectful and unnecessary. IF in fact that IS the policy of this diner and not just the whim of a lazy student/hostess then we should still have been seated. It was 1:30 pm as we entered. Shame on management. Know your staff and make sure they are operating with YOUR agenda and priorities, not theirs.

I'm so glad I did because it did not disappoint! The cafe has a nice open and airy atmosphere, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I ordered a medium pour over coffee, black, along with a pastry and spent some time just sitting, relaxing, and enjoying my morning. It was exactly what I needed. I enjoyed the coffee so much that I ordered another pour over to go. I also picked up an Oat Maple Leaf Latte and several pastries to bring back to my family. Everything was delicious, and my family enjoyed the treats as well. If I'm ever back in the area, Bidwell Perk will definitely be one of my go to places. Great coffee, tasty pastries, friendly service, and a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Bidwell Perk absolutely nailed it. Everyone working there was genuinely friendly and provided excellent customer service. They clearly use high-quality beans, and as someone who drinks coffee black and is admittedly a bit of a coffee snob, that matters. I also grabbed a ginger snap cookie, and it was everything I hoped for: perfectly gingery without being overpowering, soft, and wonderfully chewy. We were only there briefly (mostly due to the prompt service) since we were just passing through on our way home, but if we'd had more time, I would've happily lingered and enjoyed the space. I'll definitely stop here again the next time I'm in the area.
