I went here in 2013 when it was Mediterranean Shish-Kebab Restaurant. The buffet was excellent, and the customer service was great! Fast forward to August 18,2017. The buffet is still good, but the customer service was not as great yet fair. Takeout buffet is $10.99 -fair price. I didn't take it personally. The staff seemed sad or indifferent. I was in the mood for Indian food and this place is truly an authentic Indian food restaurant! I can still taste the spices in my mouth from my buffet lunch. I am critical when it comes to Indian food. I have been to India and eaten authentic Indian food in restaurants and homes. "Auntie" , a friend, would cook me authentic Indian food in her home and it was the best Indian food in the world. Namaste restaurant cooks good Indian food that helps me get my fix for Indian food, yet it isn't the best. The best Indian food to me is Indian food cooked with love. Sadly there are very few Indian restaurants in Jacksonville and even less in St Augustine. Namaste is thankfully well above average to extremely good on all of there entrees. If you have a taste for Indian food this will fit the bill. The location could use a bit of updates. Simple things to help the ambience. For example take down the Christmas lights. In the evening get a dimmer switch and lite a little candle in a glass multi colored votive at the table if you wish to add some class and color. Also spend a little to update the bathrooms. A plastic bag to catch a leaky pipe does not inspire confidence. The owners are extremely nice however and the food it absolutely lovely. I do very much love this place and only include the negatives in hopes the owners may review. Give them a shot I doubt it will disappoint. read more

We moved to the Jacksonville area two years ago from California. We were very spoiled in California with wonderful Indian restaurants. Since moving to Florida, we haven't been able to find anything that measured up. Not that the food has been bad, but we walked out of all of them saying "that was okay." Until we walked out of Namsante that is. this is not only the best Indian food since we came to Florida, this may be the best Indian food I've ever had. The butter chicken was incredible. My wife does not like spicy food and they were able to make it mild and it still had all the flavor of a good butter chicken. I had the tandoori chicken. again, it was absolutely wonderful and it was nice that there was some white meat as well. Many places only do dark meat. And the portion was substantial. And it was obvious that the naan had not been made in advance and sitting around like many restaurants do. It was fresh, hot, fluffy and delicious. Went in very excited as it was our first time visiting this restaurant. Lady/server in front very unwelcoming, didn't greet us, just asked how many people and sat us at a table with 3 chairs and no high chair for our baby (party of 4 of us).Then she didn't give us enough time to look at the menu to select , said we have to quickly order as the kitchen closes in about 20 mins . I wish she would have told us that they were closing soon when we first arrived. Don't think will be going back here due to the extremely poor service. Prices are pretty steep as well. Probably the worst Indian food I have had, unfortunately. Ordered Tiki Masala, lamb saag, and garlic naan. It was flavorless and the rice was barely tolerable. We live in Palm Coast and do have an "Indian Restaurant" here. We ate there once and haven't been back. But, we recently tried Namaste, in St, Augustine, and it may not be the prettiest restaurant, inside or out-- but the food is excellent, very authentic, and to me, THAT'S the most important part. For the appetizer, I had vegetable samosas, for my main, I ordered one of my, all-time, favorite Indian dishes: lamb saag. For the bread, I got the naan stuffed with crushed almonds, coconut, and raisins. I was in heaven. They have beers, chai, sodas. I just had a Corona light, but it was a perfect pairing with the food. If you enjoy Indian cuisine, you should, definitely give Namaste a try. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

I don't understand the lower ratings. We frequent this restaurant and find the food, service and prices exceptional. Love the garlic naan, sag paneer, aloo gobi, butter chicken, lamb curry and vegetable biryani. Have not had a dish we did not enjoy. They allow you to dictate the level of spice and heat. Great chai and rice pudding after your meal. Check them out! The restaurant and facility are always very clean. Don't let the outside dissuade you. Only recommendation is that they could upgrade signage and curb appeal. But go there for the authentic Indian fare. read more

This place is hidden in plain sight in what looks to be a former convenience store building on US-1. This place looks so clean and new I assumed it just opened a couple of weeks ago, it was about the cleanest restaurant I've ever seen. The food was excellent, the regular and garlic naan (tastes a bit like Little Caesars Crazy Bread in a good way) was fresh and hot, the hummus was tasty, the rice was hot and fresh, and the okra and tomatoes was spot on. The portions were okay but not as quite large as you'd expect for the price. The service was very friendly and I'm thinking it must be a family owned and operated place. This place is a little overpriced for a place off of the highway in St. Augustine. That being said, I'd be back here if I wanted Indian food in St. Augustine and would be interested to try their lunch buffet. read more

The best Indian food in Saint Augustine! It's all perfectly cooked. The restaurant is also very clean, and the service is great!

Apple Maps said they were open. We took an expensive Uber to find they were closed. It's on them to keep media up to date. Plus, there is no sign on the door stating hours. To top it off, the owners, who were all in the parking lot, didn't feel obliged to speak to us as we tried to figure out why the door was locked. read more

I ordered a dish that's normally with chicken, another meat, and shrimp, and I asked to replace the shrimp with vegetables and she warned me it'd be bad because she cooks it, but I still ordered it. The service is great every time I come here. These people are not the type to coddle you though, which is fine. Just because you walk into a restaurant doesn't mean these people have to be your slave, which I find a lot of rude people treat restaurant staff that way. Better leave your entitlements at the door because they will not entertain that at all. Which I actually love. The ambiance is very hole in the wall type of set up but very cozy. It's very clean. The real take away is the food though. It's not watered down Indian food to accommodate the southern American palate. This is real deal Indian food. QAlways piping hot and fresh. The prices are frankly too much for the quality of the food. The empty beer bottle six-pack decorations just needs to go. Best choice for Indian Cuisine in Saint Augustine! I just visited this Namaste for the second time and realized I never left a review. My mistake! Anyplace worth a return visit definitely needs to be shared. When we perused the menu, there were so many delicious choices that we decided create a mini buffet right at our table so that we could try everything. Since Namaste serves "family style," this worked well. We ordered a number of vegetarian selections - Chana Masala, Vegetable Korma, Palak Paneer, and Dal something. It was the only lentil dish on the menu other than soup but I don't remember what it was called. The Korma was ordered at my request. It is my favorite of all Indian dishes and usually my go-to. Namaste prepares it perfectly. The sauce was very creamy with a hint of sweet that complimented the spiciness very nicely. The Chana Masala was some of the best I've had in a nice, light tomato sauce that still revealed the flavor of the chickpeas. I have never ordered the palak paneer before but found it to be very tasty as well, the cheese cubes were a special treat among the masterfully prepared spinach. I did not love the lentil dish. It was very puréed which may have very well been the intent and how it is traditionally prepared. It had nice flavor, I didn't love the consistency. I will chalk his up to my own ignorance about the dish. We had samosas and naan to compliment our meal. Both were very tasty. The staff was friendly and provided excellent service. The ambiance is bright and clean with nice decor. I highly recommend Namaste. read more

First I ordered Chai tea and they used some kind of instant tea with tons of sugar. When I explained I didn't want it because I can't have sugar I was given an attitude. I expected proper Indian chai not some crappy mix. My husband asked if the server was mad because she was giving us a bad attitude and she gave some kind of expression and walked away. Then the food came - I expected something more authentic. My main dish was so hot I couldn't eat it, and the ingredients used had no flavor anyway. My husband ate his but it wasn't good either, just hot with no flavor. The server came by again and asked if it was ok and was it too hot - I thought this a strange question because how would she know it was going to be too hot. This made me feel like they had made it hot on purpose because I had complained about the tea. Then she tried to argue with us about their heat scale, and walked off again when I tried to explain I hadn't asked for it to be hot. So the review is not only the food was cheaply made, not flavorful and not authentic but also that the owners are rude, tired and not even trying to make the customer happy. So I wonder why they don't just go and do something they actually like doing because clearly they are sick of the restaurant business. Great experience!!! Ordered the Chicken Korma (6 of 10 spicy) and it was perfect! My wife ordered the Shrimp Korma (3 of 10 spicy) and it was great as well! Seems like they use some sort of pre-packed sauce mix for all their curries, you can tell that they are not truly made in-house because there's no oil separation, a huge amount of salt in every dish, and the rice was stuck together like it had been microwaved! Also, usually after eating a curry you feel lighter and more fit but after this place I just felt heavy and dehydrated. The mango lassi is also not good quality and the chai tea tasted like a horribly burnt boxed mix that they stuck in the microwave. Worst Indian food ever. read more

You got to be insane to order from this place. We ordered take out, they said 50 minutes. Got there in 50 minutes had to wait 30 extra minutes for the food. Not a large order, the restaurant wasn't that busy. Got home, half of the order was missing. After calling them and going over what was missing about 5 times, I went back to pick up the food. When I got home, the other half of the order was cold. Never got an apology from the clueless girl on the phone and at the restaurant. I asked to speak to a manager, she said he was busy and couldn't talk. Now the food. It's flavorless, blend and not fun. Now, if you don't know Indian food, you're going to think this food is bad, if you know Indian food, you're going to think this food is horrible!
