Chicken shawarma with rice and hummus
    Paul G.

Tried it out while I was in town and it was decent. Food was tasty, but hummus was spicier than usual. Ladies in the back running the shop were nice and prompt cooking and ringing up while one of their sons served the food and picked up dishes after. Place was a bit small, but food was great.

this is supposed to be a Chicken Shawarma Sandwich with hummus for an up charge (came with no hummus and 5 pieces of bland chicken)

for starters, upon arrival we were told that we shouldn't order through a delivery service again because it charges the business, unprofessional to bring up to a customer. Then comes the food... Completely bland, little to no flavor besides greasy vegetables and garlic. Beef kebab was unseasoned and tough, hummus wasn't even as good as walmart brand, tabbouli genuinely had no flavor whatsoever. grape leaves were the worst and greasiest i've ever had. Chicken Shawarma sandwich came with no hummus that i paid extra for and came in a shambolic state. DO NOT EAT HERE

Great middle eastern food. I had the chicken Sherman wrap and it was great. I didn't see Kibbe on the menu but asked and the lady with a big smile asked how many pieces. I said two and got kibbe. My friend had the sampler plate. It was good oh and there hummus very good also. Hidden gem kinda small but good. And very friendly definitely family owned.

This meal was DELISH!!! They cooked the food right in front of me with fresh ingredients, and this meal was as healthy as it was filling. The owners of the restaurant could not have been kinder, and the service was quick and friendly. The chicken was seasoned well along with the veggies and rice, and the hummus and garlic paste were bursting with flavor, and the pita bread which was served with the meal complimented all the bold flavors perfectly. The interior of the restaurant was authentic and charming and I truly felt relaxed and at home. I plan to go back SOON!!! Great meal. Great spot. (Also, there is a discount offered for those who pay in cash.)

We just tried this hole in the wall Greek resturant. So good!!!!!!!!!! Everything is made here and the ladies that run it are straight from My Big Fat Greek Wedding!!! They were so kind and funny.

The vegetarian platter with hummus, baba ghanouj, falafel grape leaves and tabbouleh.

My wife and I have visited The Ice Plant several times over the years, and it remains one of our…read morefavorite dining destinations in St. Augustine. The combination of imaginative cocktails, exceptional food, and a unique atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The cocktail program is outstanding. We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

The Ice Plant is one of those places where the experience starts before you ever take a bite of…read morefood. The decor fits St. Augustine perfectly. Antique, rustic, comfortable, and full of enough character that you almost feel like you've stepped 200 years back in time. Then the drinks arrive, and suddenly you realize you've been transported into the future of cocktails. I wish I could remember the name of the drink I ordered because it was spectacular. Whiskey, a little sweetness, mint, and crushed ice. That's about all I can tell you. What I can tell you is that I could have happily consumed about 30 of them, tumbled down the stairs, and been perfectly happy about the whole experience. My wife went with the Mojito, and it was brilliantly constructed. The crushed ice and layered mint made it look almost too good to drink. Almost. The drinks absolutely deserve five stars. Then came the blue crab beignets, and they were spectacular. That's the kind of appetizer that makes you stop talking for a minute because everyone at the table is too busy enjoying what's happening. Unfortunately, the rest of the food didn't quite live up to the cocktails. The fish dip was very average and lacked much flavor, and the menu itself felt pretty limited. So here's the deal: if you're coming to The Ice Plant for drinks, I would have no problem giving it five stars. The cocktails are that good. This is a highly recommended stop for a drink in St. Augustine. But I have to review the entire experience, and the limited menu and average fish dip bring the overall experience down a notch. Four stars. Come for the drinks. Stay for the atmosphere. Definitely order the blue crab beignets. And if you happen to find yourself three cocktails deep, admiring the antique decor while contemplating the stairs, maybe just take your time.

We started with Hummus and Tata Chips, which was crispy pita chips with a standard (but delicious) hummus. The Tata chips had great flavor, like Stacy's Pita Chips but better! The firat course was White Bean Fahsulia, which was a rich and hearty bean stew that packed huge flavor! Second course was Falafel with Tahini Sauce. These were a nice little bite between dishes. The center of the falafel was light, fluffy, and flavorful! Course 3 was Masaka-Ah served with Timan Asfur Rice. While this dish was good, it was my least favorite of the evening. I ate half of the stew and passed the rest off to my husband, who loved it! Course 4 brought us Dolma's served with Roasted Vegetables. I LOVE stuffed grape leaves and these were seriously on point! Tart and tangy up front followed by a whole lot of savory. Course 5, my favorite, was the Spicy Curry Chicken served with White Rice. This was the dish that made me fall in love with Fast Eddy's food and had me coming back for more. I took a couple bites and got a to-go container to enjoy this later at home. Finally, we reached the end of our dinner and Course 6, dessert, came out. Freshly made, sweet and decadent, traditional baklava. Filo dough, crushed walnuts, butter, and honey. This just melted away once it hit my mouth. I don't eat a whole lot of sweets but this had me closing my eyes and enjoying every bite. Every time I've visited Fast Eddy's the staff has been amazing, friendly, and hospitable. And of course, the place being completely decked out with rock and metal music memorabilia, i feel right at home here. Oh, and there's never a time where I leave that place without an order of the Pasta Anatoli to-go!

It was so phenomenal and the chicken moist flavorful outstanding I cannot brag enough about how phenomenal that chicken dish was. Now let's talk about the vegetables. They were seasoned to perfection and cooked where they were still crunchy but yet they were soft enough that you didn't have to worry. The vegetables were outstanding and I wanted to get second helping on the vegetables they were that good! The pita bread looked to be homemade, but given it was Passover I was not able to try it. I came in as a solo diner and was seated quickly, although my table was kind of nestled underneath the high outdoor bar. That meant hearing some of the bartender's phone conversations. I ordered a glass of Lebanese rose wine and liked it! But my meal wasn't impressive. The vegetarian grape leaves (one of my favorite dishes, generally) were OK, although several were split up on my plate (but hey, it happens). I thought the flavor was underwhelming; there was a lot of acidity but nothing else. I also ordered a side of "extra crispy seasoned potato fries" which just turned out to be generic crinkle fries with salt. Definitely wouldn't order those again. I thought maybe there would be some sort of twist on them? The big frustration was service. The restaurant was far from full when I went -- I counted maybe a dozen seated tables. After I finished eating, I spent more than 30 minutes trying to get my waiter's attention to get my check even as I sat with my plates pushed away, glasses empty, and credit card out. He walked by multiple times to wait on and check with other tables, and I saw at least five other employees working in the front of house and walking by me. Even when I got his attention for the check, it took quite a few minutes to get it, despite him walking out to other tables. (Although I will note he seemed busier than the other employees!) My check before tip came to $24, which felt on the pricey side for what I got. I hope I'm wrong, but I got the vibe that I wasn't exactly their favorite type of guest -- a solo diner who wasn't smoking hookah. (I noticed another solo non-smoker go similarly unnoticed by staff.) Maybe they heavily favor regulars, too. But they weren't at capacity, and I'd have gotten out quicker had I been able to pay. Maybe it was just an off night. But it's just not a great feeling to be ignored.
