We finally got around to trying this place and were not disappointed. We ordered vegetable Samosas, Chicken Korma, and Garlic Naan. Everything was DELICIOUS. Our server was kind and attentive, when we ordered she asked if wanted our Korma mild or spicy, and offered 10 levels of spice. We ordered level 2 to be safe but will probably go a little higher next time. We plan to be back! read more

Decided to try this place out while vacationing in the area. Started off with samosa chaat and lamb kebobs. They put the spice level from 1-10. The samosa chaat was a 7, and spicy. We debated going here after looking at reviews but we were all glad we did. The reviews certainly don't represent the experience we had. The dining room was nice, spacious and clean. The service was friendly and prompt drinks came out quickly as did the appetizers. The food was all delicious. It smelled so good, we all started before I took pictures. I've been craving indian food for a long time and was thrilled to find one in my own backyard. We finally found a chance to try it and were not disappointed! Food is delicious and authentic, service was excellent and polite, and the interior beautifully decorated. I had the tandoori mixed grill which comes with tandoori chicken, chicken kabob, lamb kabob, and shrimp. The flavors were intense and exquisite without being overwhelming. The butter chicken was excellent as well. Rice comes with the meals on the side and is okay. Pro tip: Order the naan. Fresh, flavorful, and utterly delicious. The garlic naan made the perfect savory complement to the main dishes, but the peshwari naan tasted more like a dessert, very satisfying. The mango lassi also comes highly recommended. Very nice people feeding hungry college students with the Indian food needed to maintain a good GPA and obtain an undergraduate degree with excellent graduate study prospects. It important that every college student identify and locate a mom and pop Indian restaurant which a cheery, brightly painted interior and somewhat non-descript convenience store looking exterior like this within 1 mile of campus. Students can door dash, sure, but when the parents come to town to visit during parents weekend or to help the student take care of some administrative, health or domestic matter, this is where the student will ask the parents to take them for a sit down meal. The parents will wear a mask out of respect for the workers and owners of the restaurant who expose themselves to the exhales of their guests and patrons. The student will not know of the importance of always ordering the chaat appetizer as the proper hors d'oeuvre before the arrival of the chicken korma, biryani, and the obligatory okra dish (bhindi bhajee in this case). The parent will demonstrate how to order and consume said chaat. Ordering the gobi cauliflower appetizer is also acceptable and encouraged. I really wanted to like this place. We were on a road trip and I was craving the butter chicken. I was ordering naan and they told me they had none because they were too busy. There was literally 2 more tables of 4 in the place. The rest of the tables (over 10) were empty. Less than 10 min later, the table next to us had 2 baskets. The butter chicken sauce was good but the chicken was hard and rubbery. It was 3 long chicken tender like pieces. The rice was decent but not the best. My husband ordered the Namaste Biryani which was combination. We asked to make sure it wasn't spicy. We'd never tried and didn't know. She said on a scale of 1-10 it was a 3 because of the kinds of spices used but no additional spice was added for heat. He likes spicy but didn't want it because he wasn't feeling well. Turned out to be way spicier than 3 out of 10. He ended up eating my leftover because He couldn't finish. Also, the menu says the Biryani comes with chopped cucumber, tomato & and egg on top, which it did NOT. When we asked for it, she said it's "and old old old old old menu" that they don't do that. We were looking for vegetarian options and they were somewhat limited around st augustine. Also the reviews for Namaste were less than flattering. In any case we decided to take a chance. We ordered indian bread, paneer (indian cheese) and a few varieties of lentils. You can tell the quality of food and the ingredients by asking the cook to lower the spices and then tasting the food. Bad quality can be obscured by adding ingredients and other sauces. To our pleasant surprise the food was very well made and full of flavor. And as we are of indian ethnicity, we can differentiate the quality quite well. This place is clearly 4 to 4.5 stars. read more

We got an order to-go that we ordered in-house. Staff was pleasant and food was delicious. We will absolutely be ordering again. I am thankful this restaurant is located so close to home. I'm sorry to report that on 1 June 2023, Namaste Indian Restaurant (2180 US 1 South, St Augustine, Fl 32086) refused to serve me, simply because I have a service dog.  This is a fully certified service dog, which as my father tried to explain to the Namaste owner, is protected under both federal and Florida state laws on equal opportunity/access.  The owner said he didn't care, and slammed the door in our faces.  Then the sheriff tried to educate the owner but to no avail.  I am aware that not everyone likes dogs, but service dogs are not pets.... They are there because the disabled person needs them to be independent.  To prevent the service dog from doing his or her job is to discriminate against the disabled person.  My goal in voicing this complaint against Namaste Indian Restaurant is to educate, and hopefully to prevent further discrimination. read more

We are locals here. The place is owned by a husband and wife. The owners kicked us out "like dogs" as he said verbatim when inquiring what the issue was. We requested to be seated for a table of 4, while 1 person was requesting the table, and the other was in restroom, the remainder were in parking lot walking in. The owner (husband of hostess) is an absolute ego maniac and seems to have the same issues as the other 1 star reviews for this restaurant. They all have 1 thing in common: the owner is flat out rude and egotistical. Seems to be an on going issue. What you read on the 1 star reviews are pretty accurate. Never got to try their food. Got takeout from Namaste for the first time this weekend and WOW! What a fantastic Indian restaurant we have in St Augustine! We ordered the garlic naan (x2), veggie samosas (1 order has 2), chicken tikka masala (comes w rice), and mutter paneer (comes w rice) - all in about $40ish before tax and tip. Everything was perfect! We ordered medium (5 out of 10 on the spice scale) and we def got that. If you don't love spicy, just let them know! I grew up eating Indian food in Jacksonville and feel like I have a pretty high standard. With that being said Namaste hit the nail on the head. It's amazing! I have been here many times as it's the only place in st Augustine and it's gotten progressively worse (or changed hands). They aren't very welcoming. However this might also be because I had a service dog with me (border collie) and they refused entry of my dog. I left him in the car as I was desperate for spicy food but they still tried to explain that dogs scare away customers and I'm in the wrong. I advised them to check the law and we could have sat in the corner but he wouldn't listen. So to the food; there was just lots of sauce, too much. Not much food at all and it was very bland and not spicy. This really is the Panda Express equivalent to Chinese food for Indian cuisine. Please don't change your food or culture to accommodate American taste. Make the cultural differences of food explode with taste in our mouths so we can drink another lassi (yoghurt drink) and at least experience REAL India. What an amazing experience. Was visiting St. Augustine and spotted this place. No other customers there when we arrived, but we were greeted by staff who were very friendly. Service was fast, food came out in a reasonably short time. For drinks we got Mango Lassi, which was great. The Naan bread was incredible. Our food, butter chicken and tikka marsala hit the spot. Oh my goodness is this place delicious! Recently I have been craving Indian food. I don't eat Indian often so I stick with what I'm familiar with and boy, this place did not disappoint. I decided to order take out for my friend and I. I ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, rice, and garlic naan. They allow you to choose your level of spice which I was shocked with the heat! For the butter chicken I ordered a level 3 spice level. This wasn't too spicy - it had the slightest kick. My favorite part of my dinner was the Chicken Tikka Masala. This was absolutely delicious and making my mouth water as I write. I ordered a spice level 4 and wow did it have a kick. His definitely made my nose run and it was hot! However, as hot as it was, it was super delicious. The rice was really good and a perfect addition to the meal. My second favorite item was the garlic naan. The ban was warm, soft, and slightly crispy. The garlic wasn't too much and wasn't too little. This review is mostly for the rude old man that serves there. We were coming back from Daytona Beach and were going to Ponte Vedra and on the way we ordered TO GO. The girl on phone told us that its gonna take 30 min and I said Ok and kept the phone. Then I realized that I will reach there in 10 and so I called again and asked if we can eat there instead of TOGO because we are reaching in just 10 min. She said ok then you can come and then order again. Though I felt a bit odd but I did not mind and I said that also works and kept the phone down. Then we(husband and I) finally reached the restaurant and gave order to the old man. He recognized the same order and the conversation went like this: He: Are you the same people who ordered on phone. We: Yes He: Then why did not you tell the girl? We: uuumm, yes we did call her and told her we'd be coming instead of TO GO He: No, Why did not you tell her after coming that you are the same people who ordered on phone We: Because she cancelled the order and asked us to order again anyways He: No she did not We: umm,, yes she did and we told her.. He: No you should have told her that you ordered on phone We again tried to explain him what happened but he interrupted, showed us hand and asked us to stop talking and left!! WEIRD and RUDE!! I dont understand instead of blaming us why didnt he get things clarified with that girl. He kept arguing and blaming us! I wanted to leave the place but my husband is too sophisticated and did not want to be rude. I had ordered a lassi to drink. After 10 min he came and asked my husband if he wants anything to drink. He said no. I never got my lassi.
