If you're looking for a solid Korean buffet option with good variety and value, this spot is worth checking out. Pricing is quite reasonable, with lunch at $18.99 and dinner at $28.99. The dinner service includes additional premium items like LA kalbi (beef ribs) and a rotating special of the day. The buffet is fully self-serve, with a wide selection of both hot and cold dishes. You'll find classic Korean staples alongside more casual options, making it easy to mix and match based on what you're craving. One standout feature is the ability to build your own bibimbap, which is a nice interactive touch and lets you customize flavors to your liking. Drinks are also included with unlimited yogurt drinks and coffee available. Lunch is probably the better deal unless you specifically want the LA kalbi or the dinner-only specials, the lunch offering already covers a wide range of dishes at a lower price point.

I decided to try Nakwon Kisa for my first solo dining experience since it looked interesting and I saw that they recently switched to a buffet-style setup. I went on a Friday evening after work. You have to register your party on a touchscreen at the entrance, then you get a text confirmation and another text when your table is ready. Since I was dining alone, I assumed the wait would be quick... but nope. I waited almost 45 minutes, while multiple parties of 2+ who arrived after me were seated first. That part honestly confused me, so I eventually asked a server about my spot in line. She then confirmed that I was dining solo, which made me wonder if they don't get many one-person diners and just... skipped calling my number? I was seated at the bar stool facing the wall. Not the best view, but at that point I was starving and just grateful to finally have a seat. There's a plastic storage box under the table for personal items, which was actually very necessary, especially in winter when you're dealing with bulky jackets and limited space. The buffet includes banchan stations, a bibimbap DIY area, and hot food with classic Korean dishes like LA kalbi, tteokbokki, fried pork, and chicken cutlets. To get my money's worth, I focused mainly on the LA kalbi, which was super tender, perfectly marinated, and honestly addictive. One interesting item they had was raw soy sauce / spicy marinated shrimp, plus unlimited mini probiotic drinks. It was my first time seeing the marinated shrimp in person, so I took a leap of faith. As a shrimp lover (cooked shrimp, to be clear), this was unfortunately a one-and-done for me. The soy sauce kept it from being fishy, but the texture just wasn't doing it for me at all. The food overall is authentic Korean, and they also have a mini freezer with ice cream bars (limited to one per person). There's also a Korean coffee machine that only takes Korean coins, which they provide, and it was honestly kind of fun to use. Press a button, a cup drops, and the coffee pours automatically. It comes pre-mixed with cream and sugar, and it is very sweet, not gonna lie, but somehow still addictive. Ambiance is pretty basic. Wooden tables and chairs, nothing fancy. Each table has a drawer with cutlery and napkins, which I appreciated... very smart and convenient, and you don't have to keep flagging down staff. Washrooms are downstairs and were clean. For anyone with mobility issues, the stairs aren't super steep, but I didn't notice a handicap-accessible bathroom on the main floor. Overall, decent food and a fun concept, but the long wait and some of the buffet choices brought it down for me.

AYCE for a very reasonable price! (Discount too if you pay with cash). If you love Korean food, Nakeon Kisa is a must try spot. Tip for you all: make sure to come early or you'll be waiting for a spot in line!

Food 4/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 3.5/5 We decided to try this place as it looked interesting & had never been in here before. I ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap & hubby had the chicken katsu with pork. Each meal comes with sides: spicy tofu, deep fried spam, miso soup & seaweed. Hubby's dish also came with rice & coleslaw. For me it's a lot of food! LOL. Besides the main dishes there's a small buffet table of side dishes, which is the korean banchan others have been talking about in their reviews. The only side dish I tried was the japchae (glass noodles) which I love. They were cold though, not sure if they are traditionally served that way. But I have had them hot before at other restaurants. I will say the food seems to be authentic Korean. Mind you, I'm not an expert on Korean food, which is why I say "seems to be". Others will know better than me. Anyway, the menu isn't a large one & for me there are only a couple of main dishes I would like. Most of their proteins are chicken or pork which I'm not fond of. But I will try pork next time we go. I almost forgot to mention that with each main dish you can take a dessert from the mini freezer they have. Service was two lovely young ladies that were the waitstaff. The lady who served us reminded me of the Korean actress Yunjin Kim (played Sun-Hwa Kwon on the tv show Lost) when she was young. I didn't catch her name but she was really friendly & nice. She explained how things worked at the restaurant & hubby tried the Korean coffee. It's a special coffee machine from Korea that only takes Korean coins. LOL. Ambiance is pretty basic. The chairs & tables are wood. Each table has a drawer with the cutlery & napkins. That's smart & convenient. You don't have to bug the waitstaff for things all the time. The dining area isn't large so on peak times you might want to make a reservation. We came on a Saturday for a late lunch & we were able to get a table quickly. Washrooms are downstairs & were clean. For those who are mobility challenged the stairs aren't very steep but I didn't see a handicap bathroom on the main floor. The pricing of the dishes is really great. You get a lot of food for the price so if you are very hungry this is a good place to go. Food quality is great for the price also. I would come back here again to try some of their other dishes!

    DIY bimbimbap

Been waiting to go here for so long after it went viral and then the lineups and then they limited number of customers per day deterred me away. So finally got the chance to come on a weeknite (Thursday) and it was not busy at all. Mind you there was a steady stream of customers coming in. This spot is a no frills value meal to get the basics. Don't expect anything fancy. Their banchan is amazing and can easily fill up on that. Hot dishes ranged from bulgogi and tteobokki and katsu. Their soup was a real winnner. I wish I had room for more of that. And of course the DIY bimbimbap. How can you go wrong with that? Lastly your meal is topped off with your choice of popsicle. (1 per person). Lastly need to add: unlimited Yakult?! BONUS!! All for $29 for Dinner!! ($19 for lunch). Come and check them out.

I really love the concept of this restaurant. Originally, these restaurants are meant for taxi drivers who need a quick stop for lunch or dinner and have a hearty and healthy meal. The banchan and salad are buffet style, and you just order the main. I picked the dolsot bibimbap. You also get a free ice cream at the end. I would definitely come back when I'm in the area for an easy, hearty, Korean comfort food.

    Shrimp soba

I'm usually not into AYCE places so my expectations were set low in terms of quality. They had a variety Korean food from stir fry meats, katsu and variety of toppings that can make your perfect bibimbap (even purple rice). For dinner time it's a bit more of a premium but still reasonable around $29 and you get the extra choice from what I heard is battered fried chicken and short ribs, which isn't included at lunch. I really enjoyed the soba that you can order from their QR code menu and the radish beef soup. It's unexpectedly good! I also like that you can really load up on veggies like spinach and also lots of fresh lettuce and cabbage so you can make your perfect lettuce wrap. I think the quality and taste is alright but the value is certainly there and we did load up on the short rib to make it worth the price. Though I do think the short rib is a bit dry probably better with some sauce. The temperature of the food is kind of not as warm as we would have liked given it's been sitting in the trays. Overall still a good way to get a budget meal, especially if can you eat a lot or go at lunch to save even more.

The Nakwon Kisa story -- from their IG @nakwon_kisarestaurant
    Rachel W.

Unlimited banchan (Korean side dishes) are not new to Korean restaurants, but the fact that they have it at a self-serve bar offers a new novelty, one that Toronto has probably not seen before. Your visit includes free coffee refills from an imported coffee machine, and one ice cream dessert that you get to hand-pick from the box freezer! The rules of the game are: minimum one menu order per person. Fair. So essentially, it's a $25 (lunch) or $38 (dinner) admission to unlock access to the wide-variety Banchan bar which includes soup and rice refills. They even have yogurt drinks at the bar! For children, they have a Kids Set Meal. Overall, the food was excellent! I enjoyed every aspect of my meal. My fave: the marinated raw shrimp. Never had it before and I was so impressed. Lucky me, unlimited refills. The staff were super friendly, they would take time to explain the cafeteria-style concept. They found an idea which proves popular and saves both sides a lot of hassle and hustle. I'd say it's here to stay. One unlikely thing that I appreciate are their food pics on their IG lol! They really draw me in and can be seriously turned into stickers or something (perhaps a sticker collection loyalty card promo idea?) They are quite active on Instagram, so visit their page often for the most recent deals, promos, and rotating menu @nakwon_kisarestaurant. Their motto is: "Come hungry, leave happy" - which very accurately described me that day. I had just finished a morning of sports, so I undoubtedly got my fill and left satiated. As someone who's not a huge fan of Korean food (can't eat spicy), that says a lot! Nakwon has been a long time staple for Korean food on Yonge St. When I read their story and vision for this new concept: Hearty & generous meals, Homestyle Korean flavours, and Warm hospitality, it resonated during my first visit. I will be back again. Notes: * They only serve 160 customers a day! * They have daily closing from 3:30-5:00pm * But they take phone reservations for groups of 4+ With all this, it certainly adds to the novelty of it, but also it makes a dinner visit quite risky?! Maybe call before you go ;)

Came for lunch, the daily ban chan wasn't the best selection but the mains made up for it. Ordered the tonkatsu with grilled pork and the seasonal bibim noodles without meat. The noodles wasn't too spicy which I prefer. The tonkatsu and grilled meat was more than enough for two. The grilled pork was very fragrant with the grill/ charcoal. Might be the highlight of the meat was this and the noodles combo. Loved how all the utensils and napkin were under the table. On our way out I got the apple and strawberry popsicle and it was refreshing. The red bean was also delicious. Would love to visit for dinner as their ban chan seem to be more premium with the marinated shrimp.

Chicken Katsu Curry meal, with side of Beef Bulgogi
    Brandyn T.

Nakwon Kisa went viral on Tiktok and piqued my interest with all their FREE sides! The story is that this style of restaurant was originally for long distance truck drivers to have quick and hearty meals. They have a separate lunch and dinner menu filled with set meals which give you access to the free unlimited side/banchan bar and popsicle. We visited on a Friday evening and there was about a 45-60 minute wait for a table of 5. They also post that they have a maximum daily limit of seatings likely due to how much food is prepped. FOOD (3.5/5) We ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry meal and the Sizzling Stew meal. The meals come in a tray with the main dish plus a few other sides like fried kimchi, pickled cucumbers, clear broth, and green beans. As part of the chicken katsu, you can pick a secondary protein between beef bulgogi, soy pork, and one other option. The katsu was deep fried nicely but I think the curry was a bit too sweet for my liking. The sizzling stew has a similar sweetness at first but ends with a kick, and is filled with chicken and vegetables. The bar for sides is in the middle of the restaurant and has your typical banchans (side dishes) like bean sprouts, fish cakes, japchae/noodles plus all-you-can-drink yakult! There's also free popsicle or coffee at the end of your dinner. SERVICE (4/5) Staff were nice but a bit confusing with figuring out waitlist and approximate timing. VALUE (3.5/5) Prices for the set meals were about $35-40 since it covers the cost for the unlimited sides. My recommendation would be to eat 25% of the meal, fill up on unlimited sides and have the remainder as a takeout for another meal. OVERALL (3.5/5) Interesting concept and food was decent, but it feels expensive to commit around $40 per person for simple Korean food. Factoring in the sides and a possible leftover meal makes the cost easier to digest. I'll visit again, but won't be something I'll frequent based on the pricepoint.

I can see this being a neighbourhood favourite for years to come - a truly special concept that fits in perfectly in the Yonge and Sheppard area. For around $25, you can get a great Korean entree with delicious unlimited sides, Korean coffee, ice cream, soup, and dessert. You will 100% leave stuffed, in my case I was full before my main even arrived. The highlight of the meal is definitely the extras, as the main dish was tasty but not unlike what you could get at another restaurant in the area. I tried the summer special lime soba, and my partner tried the curry katsu. I think the soba was better - very refreshing and the noodle texture was perfect. The katsu was good but the chicken was pounded quite thin. My favourite side dishes included the egg / potato / apple salad, fish cake, and bean sprouts. The Korean coffee that came out of a machine in the front of the restaurant was also surprisingly good! For your visit, I'd recommend coming for lunch or earlier for dinner in case they reach their 160 people maximum. We walked in on Sunday at 12PM for lunch and got a bar seat easily - there were definitely people waiting while we were dining. The space is not big so they could reach capacity pretty easily. If you bring cash there is an additional 10% off which I took advantage of.

Menu via on line bar code

On a Saturday afternoon around the lunch hour we managed to get one of the last tables. When this place opened there were long lineups causing the business to now limit the number of customers they serve so we felt fortunate to get a table. A highlight of this restaurant is the self serve all you can eat banchan. The selection changes everyday and is pretty extensive. It also includes rice and soup and sauces. Ordering is done via scanning the bar code at the table. Menu is limited to about a half dozen items all in the 25 dollar price point. With your main you get 3 sides (which are not all you can eat) and soup. Napkins and cutlery is in a drawer at your table...self serve. What was ordered: Katsu - which comes with some soy fried pork. Bibimbap Portions are generous and you can easily get caught just eating sides and getting full before your main arrives. The price also includes coffee which is served from a machine at the front of the restaurant. Just pop a quarter (provided by the restaurant) in and the machine makes the coffee. At the end of the meal you can also grab an ice cream from the freezer at the front door Melona, Jaws etc). Service is excellent. Despite this being a quick serve style we were checked on at least twice and asked if we were enjoying the food, tea was refilled without asking and food arrived quickly. Takeout boxes are provided if you don't finish your meal and we saw lots of people getting the rest of their meal to go. Good experience!

I went to check out the hype and was not disappointed. Waitresses were bilingual and excitedly spoke Korean to me- which actually does not happen in the city anymore but it was really nice actually. They explained the concept to me and sat me down at the booth. I got up and got some of the banchan but was afraid to fill up too much and yes- the main meal was sooooooo big. I literally ate 1:10th of it. And since it was buffet style, I was afraid they wouldn't give me a takeout container but they did- (I explained to them I don't eat too much- I'm not sure if they'd do this for everyone? People could take advantage??) Anyway, and so it became dinner. The taste was also good- got the katsu with some soy pork. Loved that it also came with a variety of sides. 10% discount with cash. On my way out, grabbed a strawberry ice bar from my childhood, and happily ate it for dessert- free instant Korean coffee also available. Happy. Fill up your hungry tummy and tame your nostalgia here (I wish there was a better expression in English for this).

There were lots of vegetarian and vegan options, such as the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, Vegetables Bibimbap, Mushrooms Bibimbap, Vegetables Udon, Vegetables Fried Rice, Kimchi Pancake, Soondubu-jjigae (Soft Tofu Stew) in different variations, and more. The menu was pretty extensive, covering the most typical Korean dishes from the stews and grilled items, to a few Korean-Chinese dishes (such as Jajangmyeon) and everything in between. Steamed Vegetables Dumplings were quite small individually, but came in a sizeable portion. I liked the green onion garnish. Taste-wise, they were alright. Vegetables Bibimbap was excellent - good amount of mixed vegetables (spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, carrot strips, lettuce, bean sprouts) and the fried egg was perfectly crispy on the outer edges, with a still gooey and runny yolk. Grilled Croaker was also decent. It had a lot of small bones as it was a whole fish. It came served with purple rice, and we chose to add on extra lettuce. Seafood Knife Cut Noodles came in a big portion - with lots of slippery, thick udon noodles, pieces of seafood (mussels, clams, squid, shrimps, octopus), and a little big of vegetables (zucchini, carrot, onion). They came in a nice seafood-infused broth - perfect for a cold winter day. I'd come again for the variety of menu items they offer (especially the wide selection of vegetarian options), satisfying tastes, and great & efficient service.

It's dry aged meats so you can expect the pricing to be higher than other Korean bbq's. The service was top notch with servers coming to check in with us throughout our meal. The food was amazing here and the quality of their meats is definitely the highlight. Here's what we got: Yukhoe (raw beef tartare) 5/5 - So fresh, so delicious and a must get appetizer. Pairs perfectly with the sweet pear slices and delicious crisps. Cold Noodle Soup 5/5 - Chewy noodles with a cold broth that is the perfect carb and contrast to the bbq meats. Refreshing and delicious. Heritage No Name 5/5 - Such bang for buck in my opinion. $25 for 240g of this premium heritage pork. When cooked, there was no porky flavour at all, it got so brown when cooked that it almost looked like beef. A must get! Marinated bone-in short rib 5/5 - This was so good and was one thick piece of short rib. My favourite meat of the night for sure. Like all Korean bbqs, this spot also serves a variety of banchans and kbbq comes with a complimentary soup that I thought was the best compd soup ever (compared to all other kbbq places). Note that Omiwol provides 4 hour parking validation if you eat there - more than enough time for meal. Staff were friendly and provided helpful tip around the amount of food and cooking the meat. We came on a weekday for lunch and decided on the lunch feast for 2. One thing that I immediately noticed was different than other Korean bbq places was that they seem to have internal ventilation within the grills at each table as there is almost no smoke in the restaurant despite many grills going on. This gives the restaurant a higher class feel and your clothes don't smell like bbq meat by the end of your meal! In terms of the meat, these were the stars of the meal. The pork belly had a nice fat that crisped up on cooking. The collar was tender and meaty that developed a good crust on grilling. The flat iron steak was soooo tender and juicy. Similarly, the picanha was meaty with good flavor though a big firmer. The banchans and lettuce were fresh. We got kimchi, spicy cucumber and onions, pickled onions, cabbage and jalapeño peppers, pickled sheets of radish and honey glazed sweet potatoes. All of which were tasty and go well with the bbq meats. On the side is a dish of sauces that include what looks like a sweet brown sauce (to me had minimal flavor relative to everything else), fresh wasabi - really great accompaniment to the beef and seemed more authentic than normal horseradish like wasabi, and a red sauce that reminds me of sauce that goes on bibimbap. The lunch set also comes with your choice of pork or beef kalguksu which is like a home made noodle dish in a stew. Very enjoyable to have to contrast the bbq meats. For us, our meal ended with melona popsicle which they have a variety of flavors. Price: 70$ pre tax and tip for lunch special which was well worth. Bring cash for a 5% discount.

I've been dealing with some dental pain, and my partner is just getting over a nasty cold, so we wanted something gentle, nourishing, and easy on the body - not a heavy, greasy brunch. Bonjuk's whole vibe of "comfort food with heart" really delivered. We'd only done takeout before, so this was our first time dining in. The space is small but really welcoming - warm lighting, clean and simple decor, and comfortable seating that makes you want to slow down and relax. It's not a huge place, so there aren't tons of indoor seats, but that also gives it a cozy, intimate feel. Service was friendly and low‑pressure, which we appreciated when we were both feeling a bit under the weather. We ordered the Chicken Porridge ($23) and the Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap ($24), both for dine‑in (prices don't include tax and tip). The chicken porridge was savoury, and soothing, with a rich broth that felt healing without being heavy. It was easy to eat with my sore teeth and left me feeling comforted, not stuffed. The beef bulgogi bibimbap was a nice contrast - colourful, fresh, and full of flavour. The bulgogi was sweet, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the mix of veggies and egg made it feel like a balanced, healthy meal. It's definitely a step up from typical brunch fare if you're looking for something lighter but still satisfying. One thing that really stood out was their baby porridge menu. It's such a thoughtful touch - separate, gentle, low‑salt options for little ones. As someone who's seen new parents struggle to find safe, easy meals out, this felt genuinely helpful and kind. It's easy to see why their marketing feels like they actually care about making food that's good for people, not just trendy. If you're looking for the best value, I'd say go for takeaway. We noticed a steady stream of takeout orders, and the overall costs are slightly lower that way, especially when there are discounts offered by different order platform. Overall, Bonjuk Canada is a good spot when you want something comforting, healthy, and easy on the stomach - whether you're recovering from illness, have dental issues, or just want a more mindful brunch.

TLDR: Premium rice porridge made in a Korean way so all of the flavors are Korean ones like bulgogi…read moreor kimchi. The portion given is generous so the price does reflect that too. -[OCTOPUS KIMCHI PORRIDGE] $20 The octopus doesn't have that strong of a flavor and there didn't seem to be that much of itbbut the kimchi definitely packs a punch. Loved all of the sides it came with, especially the pickled radish (?). Would be interested to try their non-porridge dishes by dining in next time. The woman who took my order was super kind and provided an accurate ETA on when the porridge would be ready. Would come back again!
