This is a lesson on how not to serve bbq. The chicken was dry. The brisket had more fat on it than meat and protein. The side of broccoli was cold and brown. There was no smoke taste in any of the meat. No bbq flavor in the beans. Very disappointing experience. Not even any smoke rings on the meat.

Well, this was an unexpected surprise. Yelp led me here for dinner last Friday night as I'm always interested in a good bbq restaurant. Naked BBQ is located very close to I-17 on the end cap of a strip center with parking out front. Inside, it's a counter service restaurant with a smallish dining area next to a self serve drink fountain. Two bbq sauces are also available there. A sweet one and a spicy one. I asked for a two meat platter with two sides for $16. I chose sliced brisket and pulled chicken with beans and potato salad. The platter also came with some cornbread and is prepared in front of you as it is selected. Immediately, I noticed the very generous serving sizes of everything on the platter. It was a lot of food and a steal for $16. The brisket was moist cut (with fat) and had a nice bark on it. It was tasty and tender with good flavor. The pulled chicken was also flavorful and tender and with some of the sweet sauce on top delicious. I also tried some of the spicy sauce and found it to be only slightly spicy so I enjoyed it also on the meats. The baked beans had some brisket in them (a plus) and were in a savory broth. I enjoyed them. Finally the potato salad was served cool and while mayo based also had a little bit of mustard and along with the other ingredients was quite good tasting too. With the moist cornbread, I could find no fault with this meal. My only very slight criticism (no stars deducted) is that I thought both bbq sauces while flavorful were a little bit runny. I would have liked more body to them however I am nitpicking. This meal was a 4+ and when I add the price and large serving sizes, I must give a 5 here. This is an excellent BBQ restaurant!

A two meat platter costs $17.38 which is what I ordered. I decided to try their brisket (you can either get this sliced or chopped) and jalepeno hot link along with two orders of mac n cheese since a platter already comes with one cornbread. They have a vegetable of the day side but I decided against it since they weren't making one that I liked. This two meat platter is more than enough for me to get full. The only thing I didn't finish is half of a sliced brisket. I have to say that I liked the jalepeno hot links the most even though it wasn't spicy at all. They have spicy and sweet BBQ sauce too. The entire meal was absolutely delicious.

Got a two meat combo and brisket and Ribs were awesome !!! Tried Carolina coleslaw and was strong but a great compliment to the meat. Potato salad was also good!! Did I say it was good! Best in the valley !!

Driving by, I decided to stop and grab something to go! It smelt delicious. Smoked Bbq is one of my favorites. Easy to order. Decided on a half rack of ribs. The sauce comes on the side. 5 different kinds! Ribs were meaty! They could have been more tender though, like fall off the bone as soon as you bite in. Also the Rib rub was pretty ligjht. I did like the price though. Very affordable for not doing the base of the work. When I got home, I added seasonings and cooked them a little longer Yummy for my tummy! I'll try pulled pork or brisket next time.

Tried the Naked BBQ in Scottsdale a few weeks ago and had the opportunity to try the Bell Road location today. Ordered the sliced brisket and ribs, green beans and potato salad. Brisket and ribs were tasty and tender. I liked the potato salad much better than the tangy slaw. Green beans were edible, but probably pass on that next time. Restaurant is smal. Food is good and at the end of the day, once you get your order, you are on your own at the self service area.

Brisket is moist and perfect flavor, turkey is juicy and not to chewy, Mac and cheese is okay with the cheese and black pepper, ranch style beans carry the flavor from the other pieces of meat. Service was quick during my lunch break. The place is always clean and smells great every time I've come. Surprised it's not busier during this time of day.

I stopped by Caldwell County BBQ for dinner on a Saturday evening. Located in Gilbert, I found…read morestreet parking right in front of the restaurant despite it being quite busy. I'll preface this review by saying I have very high standards when it comes to BBQ. I am from Houston after all. Caldwell County BBQ very much lived up to the hype. It's no surprise their reviews are so good. Ambiance (5/5): Caldwell County BBQ serves Texas-style BBQ. I felt right at home. There's a lot of Texan decor and the sort of ambiance you would expect at a BBQ joint. It's a spacious restaurant with plenty of seating outside and a decent amount of seating inside. We sat inside. One of the things they do well is keeping the A/C blasting both indoors and outdoors (while you're likely going to wait in line) along with misters. Definitely something you need in Phoenix! Service (4/5): I hate waiting in line. Though it's not unusual at popular BBQ spots, I still wish places like this would hire a couple of more people to make the line move faster (or even completely eliminate the lines). We probably waited in line for about 20 minutes. They have a water cooler along the route, but it was all out. Something the staff should check on a little more frequently. With all this being said, Caldwell County is well worth the wait. Drinks (5/5): Whenever I'm at a BBQ joint, I'm looking for sweet tea. Which they have here. Plus your standard assortment of soft drinks and alcohol, with a focus on beer. Food (5/5): BBQ joints typically have you pay by weight or by plates (one meat, two meats, three meats, etc.). Caldwell does it by the pound unless you go with a sandwich, loaded baked potato, etc. What's nice is they also have a family pack for 4 which comes with brisket, pulled pork, and your choice of ribs, sausage, or one other protein which is escaping me. Plus two large pint-size sides. We rolled with this option as it's a good deal (brisket, pulled pork, and St. Louis style ribs with corn casserole and mac and cheese). White bread, pickles, onions, and jalapenos are available free of charge. There are three BBQ sauces at each table: their classic BBQ, spicy, and AZ gold). We also added a quarter pound of the AZ burnt ends. Man, these are some quality meats. Brisket is the true test of Texas BBQ and the shining star. The brisket here isn't the best I've ever had but it's quite respectable. The sweet and spicy AZ burnt ends were delicious too. The ribs were tender and had a nice sweet glaze on them. The pulled pork was my least favorite, but still quite good. The sides are solid, though they could be a bit better. The mac and cheese was too peppery for my taste and the corn casserole was too sweet. Like pretty much all craft BBQ these days, Caldwell County BBQ isn't cheap. But the quality is there. This is the type of place that I would come back to again and again. They also have a location in Peoria though this one is the original. And I hear they don't run out of meats as other BBQ joints do (especially in Texas). That's a big plus! It's always a bummer when a BBQ joint is out of something you want. If you haven't been to Caldwell County BBQ, change that quick. Yeehaw!

We had about 135 guests, and everyone was raving about how good everything tasted. Working with Marcus was super easy from the start. He made the entire process smooth and stress-free, and he was always accommodating whenever we needed to make changes to the quotes or menu. He was friendly, professional, and genuinely great to work with. He provided the charcuterie boards for our cocktail hour, which were a huge hit, and then served BBQ for dinner. The buffet-style setup worked perfectly, and the line moved quickly. We never ran out of food, and guests kept coming up to us throughout the night to tell us how amazing everything was. They handled all the setup and even brought their trailer on-site, smoking and cooking right there at the venue which was so cool to see and added to the whole experience. On top of all that, Marcus is super affordable, especially considering that the quality of the food is truly exceptional. You get incredible value for what you pay. We absolutely loved working with Marcus and would definitely use Gibson's Smokehouse again. Highly recommend for any wedding or event!- Megan & Cierra

For sides, they were $4 for what appeared to be 8oz cups which seemed a little pricey but if homemade it's worth the price point. Both my cousin and I thought the coleslaw was an odd flavor like there was either red apple or radish in there, but we couldn't quite figure it out. A skip for me if I visit this truck again. As for the potato salad, it was fairly decent though it had large pieces of potato skins which I personally do not care for in my potato salad. Since we didn't get any actual food as I stick to a vegetarian diet mostly, I'll give it a 4 star for the sides. Overall, the service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere is what you make of where a food truck is parked. The condiment/utensils available on the ledge do make it easier for grab-and-go.
