A restaurant with a focus on whole food nutrition that leaves your taste buds agreeing with your body's nutritional needs. I cannot believe I haven't been to any of the 4 locations in SD. They are located in Encinitas, Solana Beach, Carlsbad and Point Loma. I ordered the Transcendance Wrap. The tofu looked like chicken. The texture was great and the flavors paired nicely together. It also came with a generous portion of quinoa and salad. The quinoa needed more flavoring and I added a little siracha to it, which did the trick. There were many other Vegan, Vegetarian and Omnivore dishes to choose from. To drink I ordered the hot Moroccan tea. I love Moroccan tea and this did not disappoint. I added a little honey to mine as I prefer mine to be Sweet Moroccan Tea. Although, not organic, they assured me their meats came from cage-free animals raised without the use of antibiotics and hormones. Our server Josh had extensive knowledge about the products and menu items. He even showed me the tofu label which was part of the non-gmo project. Such great menu items it's hard to choose. Had an egg white spinach feta scramble that was so great. It normally has soy sausage but they subbed for avo. It came with quinoa and salsa. Add scricha and you've got a tasty breakfast. Reasonably priced. We did wait forever for it due to some to go order but our waiter brought us a piece of pumpkin chocolate chip bread to go which was sweet. They have soup, carrot ginger, chix, steak bowls with ginger and thai peanut which is so good. Spinach tortillas and so much more to choose from? We've been going to the Solana Beach location for years. We love the food, but SB is always packed! This new location is bigger and never too crowded (it's in a very ugly strip mall, but don't let that stop you). The servers are young, hippie types that are super friendly. Be sure to start with one of their delicious hot drinks. My daughter loves the Mexican hot chocolate and I'm a big fan of the Green Tea Soy Latte and the Fairy Chai Latte. For breakfast, the Rising Sun Quesadilla is delicious and large enough for two people to share. I especially love the Buff Breakfast with brown rice...it sounds weird but it is truly delicious. Buffalo breakfast burritos = good, lots of beans transcendence wrap is great, but I sub out tofu for chicken, and sub the quinoa for beans, which I think go well with it. Yerba mate latte is very good. Service is usually good, only had one problems there once on a Sunday when it seemed like servers were directionless. You can also buy coffee from them, and they will grind it for you based on what type of coffee maker you have. Lastly, they have some small pocket menus, which are pretty cool. So delicious! Every time I come here I get a different breakfast plate knowing that they all taste fresh and are made with quality ingredients. Some of my favorites include the yin and yang, rising sun quesadilla, the calexxican, the crispy vegetarian burritos, and so much more. The portions are pretty big in my opinion but I still don't get that bloated or disgusting feeling I get like at other breakfast places. Just comfortably stuffed! We came in for lunch, thinking we could get in and out in an hour or so - alas, in order to meet our post-lunch appointments, we had to get boxes and ask for our check when the food arrived.. I got the basil chicken sandwich, which was very tasty - good chicken, basil pesto sauce, nice bread. it came with a decent amount of naked salad, with balsamic vinegarettte. good salad. another in our party got just the grilled chicken sandwich, which pretty much was the same as mine, sans pesto. same salad too. our third in the party got a chicken salad sandwich, with chips and salsa instead of salad. chips were baked, and not fried (going for healthy here), but not really that tasty. the salsa was good, or at least made up for the mediocrity of baked tortilla chips. also a decaf coffee that was pretty earthy and flavorful. i'd give 5 stars for food and service and decor and the use of compostable to-go containers instead of styrofoam or plastic. but the long wait between ordering our lunch and getting it makes me wonder if Slow Food and the hour lunch are incompatible. i don't know if this place is meant to be slow food, or just a busy time today. Every time I come here, I have a hard time deciding on what to order - it all sounds so good! Ingredients are fresh and creatively combined, dishes come out hot, and I always have leftovers to take home for a 2nd meal. What more could you ask for? I LOVE their Dual Delight dish and will eat it for breakfast, it's that good. But everything I've tried or my friends have tried has been excellent. Their champagne concoctions are great, as are the coffee/tea drinks. The Solana Beach location is always packed and the service has been hit and miss there (always friendly, but sometimes they're so busy that it's a bit slow for my taste), but Encinitas is a winner every time in all regards. It's very rare that I open up a menu and 75% of it sounds like something I'd want to order. I came here for the first time on a Sunday and competed with a steady brunch crowd for a table. We got seated at a table that afforded us a nice view of the ocean and a bunch of people of all ages practicing the Thriller dance. The menu here is quite large and all their breakfast items seem to be made with lots of vegetables. I looked around and everyone's plate was overflowing with man sized portions of food. I went with one of the scramblers that came with artichoke hearts. It came piping hot with a side of perfectly roasted potatoes and a few slices of wonderfully fragrant rosemary bread. This place is incredibly environmentally conscious so you'll have a little note on your table encouraging you to bring your own tupperware for leftovers. Usually places like that lose sight of providing tasty, flavorful food because they're so focused on going green and sometimes raw. That's definitely not the case here with Naked Cafe. After stuffing ourselves with this amazing goodness, we walked down to the beach and collected a few rocks. A lovely end to a lovely meal. read more

I pulled into this little strip mall plaza on the hunt for something fast, cheap, and easy, but then I saw the Naked Cafe and decided to give it a try (I am a former vegetarian.) The atmosphere was pleasant enough and it was not crowded. I was unsure what to order but finally decided on the pesto and artichoke heart quesadillas. They were delicious! I wanted more. I don't order quesadillas often because they're usually dry, but these tasted fresh and juicy. The staff I came in contact with were all extremely friendly. Service could have been a little faster, but it was during an off-peak time so they probably didn't have a full staff. Was looking for a healthy place to eat lunch and came across the Naked Cafe. The name screams healthy and I do give them credit for the humor behind their menu, but overall the food wasn't as great as it sounded. Environment felt like a jungle and the customer service was average. I ordered the roast beef hash. It came with potatoes, beef, eggs, bread, and horseradish sauce. I get this entree at most brunch places at eat at and this particular one falls into the lower tiers. The quality of the ingredients were nothing special and the horseradish sauce didn't make me ecstatic about the dish either. The dish definitely lacked flavor profile as the hash and beef didn't have enough seasoning. The friend I did go with said other items on the menu were much better so maybe I'll give it another try in the future. Overall, a pretty mundane meal, but at least I ate healthy. read more

Arrived around 11:30/11:45 and looked like there was a line but one table for two just outside so we snagged that up right away. If was our first time and we were crusin the menu to find our fill as the waitress came up. Game time decision, do we order on the fly or ask her to come back and give us a few. Well, we would have lost the game since the few minutes was about 15 before she came back. It's a busy breakfast place so it's important to know what you want the first time around. That doesn't just apply here but any busy place. Restaurant service is what it is and you just need to be ready. 12:30pm our food order has been in for a while and still no food...this is ridiculous! A few minutes later our food arrived. Both dishes looked great. I ordered the prosperity plate and the husband ordered the protein breakfast burrito. Both tasted great and I wouldn't go as far to say worth the wait but we were happy with the taste of the meal. On this particular day they may have been short staffed. I only remember seeing 3 servers and that included the greeter/host that may have been the manager. Went here for breakfast. Was told it would be a 5-10 minute wait and ended up being over an hour. Once we were seated it was over 30 minutes and we had still not seen our order. When we asked the waitress about this she told us they were low on staff yet every table was full. They should not be seating every table if they do not have the staffing. You don't get much of a line on the weekends and the communal tables are a nice touch. It's a wee pricey but very good food. I don't drink coffee, but I took my parents here and they said the French press was excellent. Delicious breakfast, my daughter had buttermilk pancakes. I had the Select Two: 1/2 Avocado, artichoke hearts, cucumber, with hummus spread on honey berry wheat, and 1/2 portion of Naked Salad.
