Nails Star - Nail Salons Near Me - Plano, Texas

Just left this nail salon and I am so disappointed in the behavior of the employees. I came in for a manicure/pedicure and my friend got a pedicure. As they started to work on our feet the 3 women began speaking in Vietnamese. Unbeknownst to them my friend is Vietnamese and speaks the language. The woman working on my friends pedicure started calling my friend "lazy" to the other employees and repeating "She's so lazy", "It's probably 3 months since she cut her nails". Then the woman working on my manicure asked which service my friend got and she said "regular". Then the woman doing my manicure told the other lady to "trick her into doing the more expensive one and give her a $5 discount". My friend was texting me the transcript and I held my tongue but told her I wanted to say something when it was over. Fast forward towards the end and the Olympics were on. One woman tried to make conversation with us, and said first in Viet that she "hate Chinese". Then re-iterated it in English. I'm not sure when the inkling of common sense struck her but she started asking my friend if she was from Thailand, then guessed the Philippines. After much probing my friend finally revealed she was not only Vietnamese but Chinese as well and spoke the language. You could see the shock roll over their faces trying to remember their conversations. It didn't stop them however from making comments about tipping. We all like to gossip at work and people say mean things but everyone should have the tack to keep it to themselves when the person you are being mean about is right in front of your face. I don't expect everyone to love each other but I expect professionalism. Be kind, you own a business you should care about the customers who come in. read more

Like this nail salon. Been searching for a new one and they do really good work here. I'm very satisfied for the $65 I paid. (Deluxe pedicure, solar fill for my hands with cutdown and one broken nail, and eyebrow waxing and shaping). My feet were in bad shape after the winter months and the heels needed lots of work. Plus, it had been waaaaay too long since my last manicure/solar fill. They did joke about my poor heel condition, but that's okay. I can take it in stride. Tina did my nails and she shaped them beautifully. Poor Henry had to do my feet and did an impeccable job with the bright pink paint on them. Tina also did my eyebrows and they are purrrr-fect! I'll go back there in a few weeks and give it a second go-around. I did tip exxtra due to the extra work they incurred and appreciation was also shown, which is nice. read more

I have been going here for months the people who work here are so great and positive ! Their work is just excellent and affordable they fix my nails up so well I fall asleep sometimes it's really comfy and you don't feel like you're an outsider here. I just moved from NY and I thought I wouldn't find a good nail spot but this ones just amazing. The people here do their work with great passion like it's art. Truly amazed !! Ask for Lisa !! read more

I love this place. At first, it may appear as your typical nail place. However, you find less of the oh-so-talked about chattering you find in nail salons. More importantly, the employees are super friendly and eager to please. read more

I went in for acrylic nails for the first time in my life. The girl did such an awful job I had to go to another nail salon the next day and have them removed and done again. The worst was having to go to work and be seen in public with these things on my fingers that cannot even be called nails. Embarrassing and and expensive mistake!! Even the nail girl at the salon I went to the next day said , " and you paid for these??? "......! read more

After going by this place several times, I finally made a visit to the salon. Luckily, I didn't have to wait long for a much needed pedicure. Great service and the employees are super friendly. I'll defiantly make another visit soon. I encourage anyone to try this place out. You won't be disappointed. read more

I've been getting my nails done every other week for about five years now and I have never had anyone hurt me as many times as the woman who did my nails here. She nicked my cuticles seriously every other minute and was SUPER aggressive with the nail file with zero regard for my skin. She kept trying to bend my fingers to the side which HURT. My nails look nice, but my nail beds burn and my knuckles hurt. She also rubbed cuticle oil alll the way up my arms and my long sleeves weren't pushed up so she pushed them up with her oily hands and there are oil stains all over the cuffs of my shirt now and I washed the oil off immediately. Not to mention, when I walked in, all employees gave me a blank stare and no greeting. I hate leaving bad reviews and I hate leaving bad tips as I'm in the service industry, but this service sucked. read more

I got a mani/pedi I would have gave it a 5 if I would have just got a pedicure the ONLY reason why it got a 3 was because the woman that did my pedicure was awesome! She took her time and she was very nice. But the man that did my manicure was HORRIBLE he filed my nails but some of them looked lop sided and I kept asking him to fix them but even when he went back to file them they still didn't look right. He rushed through the paint job there was finger nail polish all around the nail bed that I had to ask him to remove. If you go ask for Lisa ( I think that's her name) that's the only one I will go to IF I ever even go back. read more

This place is amazing! I've been going to this salon exclusively for almost 6 months now. They are always friendly and helpful. They've helped me decide in colors and always remember me and my preferences. I highly recommend this place. read more

I love love love this place! My fave salon... I feel like I'm home when I come for my nail upkeep. Henry is the best nail technician... he's a perfectionist and I appreciate his talent! Kevin is an amazing nail tech too he's my fave pedi tech! So precise and gentle! read more

I took my friend to get her underarms waxed and they ended up plucking all of her hairs there! OUCH! They also commented on her ethnicity saying Hispanics are hairy, as an excuse of why their wax wasn't working. My friend still ended up paying full price for the service. I don't recommend any waxing services from here! read more

I'm kind of torn about this place. The location is convenient. The service could be better. When I go for a mani/pedi, I want to relax. Not a fan of the custom here in TX to have people completing my manicure and pedicure at the same time. They literally plop a pillow in your lap to place your arms/hands on for the manicure. My idea of relaxing is NOT balancing a bowl of soapy water on the pillow to soak my cuticles. Anyway, the shop seems to be busy most of the time. It's clean enough the times I've been there. Nothing fancy, but that's okay. I don't like when they are having full blown conversations while completing the services. It's very annoying. I usually take my headphones to drown them out. I usually get the 'baby butt' (yes, that's the name) pedicure and the deluxe manicure. Now, what they do well is the neck/shoulder massage that comes with the deluxe mani. Also, I workout a lot, so my feet tend to require some work, lol. They do a good job making sure they are smooth. I do feel like the polish could be neater. I've had someone back at home that was precise, so that's what I like. Not good: I was sitting out front one day at about 9:50am waiting for them to open at 10am. By 10:10am I left because they didn't open on time. Also, my last trip there, the lady doing my manicure took the cuticle skin from the tool she was using and wiped it on my hand, then motioned for me to look at it. Wait....... who does that? I just looked at her and frowned. That was so rude! I'm thankful she had sense enough not to do that again on my other hand. Overall, they are decent. I've experienced better, and I've experienced worse. read more

Had a pedicure done here. LOVED IT! Everyone is super nice and they really take their time with you. Going back for sure :)

Loved it! They were very nice and patient, Mary did my nails and did a great job :) I didn't have to wait at all they took me right away. It was Wednesday at 6pm but still most places don't seem to have enough staff in the evening. I will be back read more

This place is awesome. The decor is marble and the pedicure chairs are really nice. I am 7 months pregnant and the leg/feet massage was just what I needed. Very very happy!! read more

I've been coming here for a long time and have no complaints. It's a lovely salon and my nails always look perfect. I do enjoy pedicures with some technicians more than others due to skill of massage. I've only had Henry do my solar nails and never switch. I'm very picky and always want them done the same way. A friend recommended this place and I'm glad I switched. If they sell gift certificates I may buy for friends. read more

People are nice and courteous. Seems clean and sanitary. We just moved in the area and was in a pinch for a Pedi. Reviews said this place is usually a hit or miss. It was a miss for my first time so I won't be going back. My Pedi tech seemed very inexperienced. I was uncomfortable with his skills the entire time. read more

I've been going here to get pedi's for many years and it's always been great. However, in the last year or so the quality has gone down hill. There's one technician, I don't know her name, but I've had her the last few times I've been and she's horrible. While clipping my toe cuticles, she has clipped to close and cut me. She tries to hide it by applying pressure where she cut to stop the profuse bleeding. I yelped the last time and the owner just sat there. I know she's done the same to my daughter. I've been a loyal customer for so long but I go to relax, not get hurt. Have tried a new place that I love. The techs are friendly and they are always laughing, which makes me think they really like what they are doing. read more

OMG she was amazing very nice and fast was very gentle. The whole place was clean and kept together will always be coming back to this one and I've been to places read more

The mail nail tech is extremely rude and racist. The first time I came here they turned me away because of what he said was due to them being overcrowded when in fact there was only there Caucasian women getting pedicures at the time of my arrival. So I decided to go else where because I needed a to get a broken nail fixed. Today I decided to give them a second chance. The services I needed were very clear to him (acrylic nails soaked off, nexgen full set and a pedicure). He took off some of the old acrylic and proceeded to glue a new nail on after I already explained to him that I needed for him to take all of the old acrylic off cause that is what I was paying for. He got an attitude and asked me to leave. I wasn't rude I simply said can you take it all off because that's how you get a fungus under your nail and I'm not coming back in two weeks telling you I now have a fungus. While I was there there were two Caucasian women and Hispanic woman all were greeted and welcomed I was not nor was the other African American woman in fact they didn't even acknowledge her. One of the Caucasian women was very rude and demanding with the nail tech still no one asked her to leave but I however was because I wanted what I was paying for and I didn't even raise my voice or get rude. I definitely do not recommend this place to anyone who wants to be treated like a normal human being and I will not be back. read more

Kevin gave me the best pedicure massage of my life!!!

I seen roaches in this nail place going across the floor. I will never go their again . Horrible

Great customer service! Highly recommend this nail salon! This will be my go to place from now on. Best pedicure I've ever gotten, the lady gave the best foot massage. Thank you! read more

I have been here a couple of times because it is close to home. Every time I go for gel nails they cut or file the skin under my nails using the tools without paying attention (usually in a rush to get to the next customer) and I go home with bleeding fingers every time. Not to mention that to push down your cuticle the man uses his nasty long yellow finger nail rather than a cuticle tool. When my nails were completed I asked him not to spray alcohol on the fingers which were bleeding, he said it would help and sprayed it anyway, Ouch! Won't be going back! read more

My granddaughter and I went to Nail Star using a Groupon. We were both very pleased with Nail Star. The facility was nicely furnished and extremely clean. The owner was accommodating (we were running late), but while there, I noticed how carefully she scheduled her appointments so she didn't inconvenience her patrons by waiting. The pedicure was wonderful...not only did we get a nice leg massage, but also our feet were put in baggies with paraffin, and our legs massaged with hot stones. My manicure was done very nicely...and when I got up too soon to put on my socks and messed up a nail, she was quick to come over and fix it...and put on my other sock. The only criticism was that I still have calluses on the soles of my feet. She did use a pumice stone and cream and paraffin...but did not use the device that cuts it off. Since I know that is very controversial and many people do not want that done and I never mentioned it...I decided not to take off a star for that. read more

Love love this nail salon the people are so nice and friendly I will never go to a different nail salon again

This place is under new management and I absolutely love it here! Employees are super friendly and nice!! If you're looking for a salon that has great service and a great environment I highly recommend this place. read more

I went in early December here to get my eyebrows waxed when I looked at the finished product my eyebrows looked weird. When she was waxing my eyebrows she accidentally waxed the hair off my head. A week after I got my eyebrows done here I went to European wax center in lewisville and bri my waxer told me my last waxer took off too much hair off my left eyebrow. Bri at European wax center did an excellent job on my eyebrows and they actually clean your eyebrows then wax them then put stuff on it to make it grow fuller. I would suggest going European wax center in lewisville and get bri to do your eyebrows. She did a good job on them and she also did a brazillian on me and it didn't hurt that much. At European wax center they use hard wax so you feel less pain. You also get a free wax there if your a new customer and book it online. Regular price for eyebrow waxing is $18 and worth the money. read more

Wow, where do I even begin! My mom and I have been looking for a salon that we thoroughly enjoy since we moved here last May and have finally found it! From now on we will always be returning to Nails Star. As soon as we walked in the door 2 people greeted us and they were nice as can be. We told them we wanted pedicures and we were seated instantly after picking a color. Then we were given a "menu" of their pedicure choices which range in price from $25 to $45. I'm not use to having choices, every other salon I've been to just offers a basic pedicure. Having not had a pedicure in quite awhile and my birthday being this week my mom and I treated ourselves to the "baby butt" pedicure which is suppose to make your feet as smooth as a babys butt! Started off with rose petals in the water, offered me wine, used a orange scented sugar scrub, and then used lime and orange slices, icy hot type blue gel, mud and last but not least paraffin wax. The guy doing my feet probably massaged my legs/feet for a good 30 minutes (which is usually how long a whole pedicure last at another salon). It was amazing and so relaxing. The people doing the pedicures were so gentle! All together we spend almost 2 hours there and I know that sounds like a long time, but it was a Sunday and we had nothing better to do and it was well worth the $40. My feet are definitely as soft as a babys butt! I recommend Stephen, he was great! My mom had Lisa and really enjoyed her as well! read more

My mom went here on a Friday afternoon for a mani/pedi. The lady doing her nails used the Dremil tool and was not paying attention due to talking to someone else. She cut my mom's finger and my mom had to bring the gushing blood to her attention. Then the guy doing her pedicure rubbed a raw place into the side of her heel while removing the rough skin. No apologies and still charged her full price. I do NOT recommend this place. read more

First time at this nail salon. Customer service and friendliness was great. Everybody was nice. I got the basic mani pedi but next time I'll get one of their upgrades. My pedi massage was great and relaxing. Definitely will be coming back. read more

Best pedicures in town! They take their time and are very friendly. Scrubbing, rubbing, paraffin, exfoliation, the whole shabang! I've been to probably 15 places in Dallas and this place tops them all. Get the peppermint pedicure and I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

I've been going here with my daughter for almost five years and have always had great experiences: mani, pedi and waxing (brows, lip, chin) regardless of who the tech is. This is my go to place and better than any other places I've used. The staff are courteous, attentive and friendly and always do a top notch job. read more

This is the worst nail salon ever. I went to get my nails done today and the lady Amy cut 6 of my fingers and tried to cover all the blood that I had already seen. I told her to stop getting onto my skin and she ignored me. She put this blue stuff that burns and didn't even tell me. I asked her what she was putting on my skin and she didn't say a word. Anyways we were about to pay and I told the lady I wasn't gonna pay full price for my nails bc I told her it was painful and she hid it away from me. They all refused and the guy pretended to lock the door and started talking in their language. I got my parents on the phone and they cut the price down. As they were talking on the phone my cousin asked Kevin for his name and he refused to give it to us. He was very rude and told us nothing was free in America. We told them we came here with money to pay but we weren't gonna pay after I was cut. So we asked for the names again and the man said we could not get his name cause he did nothing to us. They hid their licenses away from us so we could not get their information so I called the state and they said it was illegal for them to hide it because it is for the public. They called their manager to come and he came he was pretty rude but he was understanding. Anyways today's day 2 and my nails hurt. worst place ever!!!!! read more
