Cannot recommend Vicky (Huong) highly enough. I tried another organic spa near coding school in Berkeley due to convenience recently and immediately regretted cheating on Vicky for my pedicure nail care. That technician cut my toenail beds too deep and it hurt for over a week. Vicky is the best at what she does. Super efficient but her skills are unparalleled. My nails always look and she is so down to earth and nice. I trust her implicitly to choose colors for me or to help me find what I'm trying to go for color wise. She is always willing to do a different color on my fourth finger if I want that. The salon itself is super cute. They have it all decked out right with holiday ornaments hung from the ceiling now. Clean with a bathroom in the back and a room for waxing. Been coming here to see Vicky (Huong) since before my now 4.8 year old was born. Since 2018-2019? Dear Today Nail - Miss Lan, I wanted to share my last experience, as the level of service I received during my last visit was extremely disappointing. I've always enjoyed coming in and have appreciated the work from both you and Vicky, which is why this situation has been so disheartening. During my visit, I was treated in a way that felt unappreciative and unprofessional. After giving Victoria a $10 tip, while I was still in my purse looking for more money to tip the other technician who did my manicure, Victoria loudly asked if I planned to tip her as well. This was unnecessary and embarrassing--especially since I have always tipped everyone who provides a service. Additionally, you asked me to move from my chair so another customer could sit, even though there were empty seats available. I found this request confusing and discourteous. I arrived at 5 for an appointment and was seated by 5:15. $25 for gel manicure because I didn't require removal, which was awesome. My best friend loves this place, so I've come here quite a few times. Pros: Nail Today is a clean salon, usually with some paid street parking available out front. They accept credit card and the employees are very friendly. Good range of colors, too. Cons: I usually get regular mani and pedis here and the quality is inconsistent. One nail tech is extremely aggressive with cuticle cleaning and cut a few of my cuticles, leading to an unpleasant manicure (sucks when your nail bed is bleeding). My nail beds were red and sore the next day. Sometimes, even when you make an appointment you can wait up to 20 minutes to be seen. I've had my cuticles cut before but not at the same place. That indicates to me that speed is a priority over quality. I understand customer servicing and turnaround is important, but not at the expense of quality! Unfortunately, I won't be coming back here unless they can improve their consistency and quality of nail service. read more

Look, they do good work and good work takes time so if you're doing an acrylic fill and a pedicure, give it at least an hour and a half! And pick a time when it's not busy, you can ask when you call! Lan and Tran do my nails now that I do acrylic but all of the ladies do great gel, Vicky would always do mine! And the pedicures are my favorite with everyone but I do get a little extra happy when it's Hidie that does it. They like photos for reference and prices are affordable and consistent and they're always up front with you about it. Also when you're loyal, so are they. I called on a time crunch asking if I came in 10 min could I get a mani/pedi they checked the book and said yes but I waited over 30 min once I got there. Most customers had someone different doing fingers and toes I had the same and while she was great it added time to my appt I didn't really have. I understand places get busy but be honest with customers. If you can't see me in 10 min don't say you can. read more

I think I've found my new nail salon. Highlights: -- Even while the salon was pretty much full capacity the ladies welcomed me and later apologized for the wait (which happens! all good!) -- Nail Shaping was 5 stars. I feel like the bedrock of a solid nail salon is how the nail artist shapes your nails... I showed Vicky one photo and she shaped my nails beautifully. -- Speaking of Vicky, what a star. Hilarious, sweet, and has a solid opinion on what would look good. The last point is particularly helpful for folks like me who come in with a vague idea and wants to put trust in the experts' hands. Vicky's an expert through and through - don't ask for her, cause I want to make sure she's free for me. -- Another artist, Tina, also did my pedicure and what I most appreciated about her is that at the very last top coat, a small piece of dust fell into my polish and she spent time pulling it out, cleaning it up, and redoing it. She even apologized! Why is this your fault! Everyone here is so sweet. All in all... new salons are always a hit or miss for me. Esp if the salon isn't "instagrammable" on Yelp photos (don't lie, you know what this means). But when the service is so solid and the humans are so good at what they do... sign me up. For $30 gel manicures, I will absolutely be back. P.s. Update for post COVID experience: the girls are still very friendly and sweet, they do a great job (I went yesterday for a color change to fix another salon's job) and the best part is their availability. I'm guilty of calling last-minute every time but they somehow always manage to fit me in day of.
