My first time here and I popped in to get a pedicure during my lunch time. No one was there when I walked in and I was asked if I had an appointment (I didn't but in hindsight, next time I'll make one because it quickly got very busy) I was told to choose a color and was put in a chair right away. The nail tech was very nice and made sure the water was perfect. I was offered a free drink and I was like...what?! YES! I got an iced coffee and call me simple but it was good and it made my experience that much better. The chair massage also worked, which again, sometimes I don't get that much at other spots. Chose a simple pedi ($40) and she did a really good job at the massage and cleaning of my cuticles. I was in/out in about an hour and I would def come back. Oh! I also liked that I was able to get an idea of pricing beforehand by looking online. I hate surprises so I appreciated it a lot. read more

I got there on a Sunday morning before noon and they weren't busy, but they filled up immediately after. Cute nail salon on Lakeshore Avenue in the grand Lake neighborhood. They do not do acrylics, but I got a full set of gel X for $60. They also gave me free Vietnamese coffee. Everyone was friendly, accommodating and quick. My nails feel strong, professional, and well done. First visit. But so far so good. read more

This is my second time and I was really disappointed with my recent pedicure. The technician did not finish the service properly-- the final step where she put cuticle oil on my nails, she only put one side of my leg and not on the other side. And I don't know whether the pedicure was done or not. I was left sitting there until I ask someone if they are done working on my feet and one of the technician just brushed me off and say I can leave. Also I picked OPI nail polish and only to be given DND brand nail polish. At least inform me that they would be using a different brand. The pedicure job is good but not like great. I still tipped almost 20% but I think I will try another place before coming back again read more

I've been coming here when in a pinch for pedicures. The salon is clean, spacious and I usually am able to be serviced pretty quickly without an appointment. They also offer nonalcoholic beverages. I've tried the milk & honey pedicure, the jelly, and green tea and honestly aside from a hot stone massage there's not much of a difference. The pedicures last the standard 2-3 weeks with no chipping. Good, not amazing quality most times they are rushing through. My biggest complaint is the color selection. They claim to offer OPI and all of these options but really only have the typical DND. That's fine but don't offer OPI, Essie, Chrome swatches, only to bring out the standard DND when it's time to polish my nails and think I won't notice. It's insulting. As far as Gel X manicures, I go elsewhere because I am super picky about my nail shape and uniformity and no one has gotten it right. read more

I've been going here for years. They're always able to take me as a drop-in. Welcoming vibe. The quality of work is good. Various mani/pedi packages. They provide non-alcohol beverages. My only concerns are, they rinse my legs of with the same water my feet were soaking in instead of the attached hose. Also, they used the same UV lite machine on my hands that they used on my feet read more

This place is amazing! I'm from Michigan, in visiting my sister and daughter who attends college out here. I have been coming to Oakland for many years, and have had many pedicures around these parts and even other towns over. My favorite place thus far! This is the 2nd time visiting this salon. The first time the person cut my toe and caused minor bleeding which flared up the next day. They cut me w the metal grinder and I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assume they clean the tools. 2nd time they cut my finger and caused significant bleeding. Blood on me, the employee and the padded nail file. They put acetone on the cut which was incredibly painful. However my biggest concern, for public health reasons, is the fact that they proceeded to wipe the blood off the padded nail file w a used buffer and went to the next client w the tools. I assume that is not the proper way to sanitize tools with a customer's blood on the tool. Sanitation is the biggest concern and secondly don't feel they care if the customer is cut or in pain due to their careless handling of the tools. read more

I went in 4 days after I got my nails done because I realized they weren't holding up well. I wish I had time to go sooner because they asked me to pay 30 MORE dollars when the work was very mediocre, to begin with, and the alternative set would be the same amount as what I paid. Two stars. I gave the first star because they tried to provide me with another option, like layering another coat or putting acrylic over SNS to switch the set, but that wouldn't be cute or what I was going for. I gave the second star because I also got an okay pedicure. I would not recommend going here at all. If you do, don't get anything other than a basic manicure, or specifically go to Tina because she seems much more experienced and does better work (if you haven't read any of the yelp reviews already). read more

We have been here a couple times now so I feel I've had enough experience to leave a review now. Let's start with the positive I love my pedicures every time, the gel-x nails come out cute but imo my dip powder manicures were not executed the way you would expect from a professional nail salon. I tried to explain to the woman servicing me the things I didn't like with my nails unfortunately she didn't understand a word I was saying. She just rushed through my nails and moved on to the next client. I just paid and left very disappointed . If you stick to jealous or a natural nail manicure, I'm sure you'll be fine but don't do the dip powder. read more

Absolutely my favorite nail salon I've ever had/been too. When I moved to Oakland a year ago I was stoked to be able to walk out my door and just be a few minute walk to lakeshore. I ended up at U A nails for my first nail salon experience in my new hometown and they exceeded any and all expectations. The first time I went I had one of Tina's employees and she is out of this world talented!!! She did such a gorgeous job on my full set, took her time and was so kind. After that I mostly see Tina now (the owner + her husband) and the service is always 100%. Her husband does an amazing pedicure as well!!! Tina does such a beautiful job on her work and also takes her time to really shape the nails the way you want them. I love natural, dainty acrylics and her and the other woman who do them just blow me away every time. And you cannot beat the prices. I was so use to being overcharged everywhere else so when i saw it was $50 for a full Set and $40 for a fill AND they do an outstanding job, I knew I'd never go any here else again! There was one time I was in a pinch and had to go to the pink place down the street and my nails looked awful. Was charged $75 and was rushed. I'll forever be a client of U A Nails as long as I'm in Oakland!!! read more

I just recently discovered this Nail Salon. I honestly think it is the best mani/ pedi I have ever had. Dat was my manicurist and he was extremely patient, thorough and kind. He really took his time with a real attention to detail and precision. In so many of my previous experiences at other nail shops I feel that the manicurist is often rushing and it may not be their fault. Managers may push them to be that way. Its hard to know but at VT Nails they were the opposite. Its also a beautiful salon with really comfy chairs. And I love that they have a whole menu to help you choose with their price point. Its a little pricier than some other salons but worth every penny. Thanks. I will be back! read more

I walked in to get a pedicure this morning and was warmly welcomed. This was my first time visiting this business and I'm always skeptical because I'm very picky. I was blown away!!! Very comfortable and clean atmosphere and very friendly owner & staff. The gal who gave me a pedicure took her time and was very precise. I love it!!! I highly recommend U A Nails! Thanks guys for the great experience. read more

This place is fantastic! I went to get a pedicure, they offer a range of different kinds of special pedicure options (i.e. aloe vera pedicure, green tea pedicure, etc) all VERY reasonably priced. Had a drink menu (soda, green tea, etc) that is complimentary, nothing fancy but still very nice! Most importantly, they treated me with so much kindness and respect. I did not feel like it was a factory of painting fingers and toe nails, in and out-- as these salons can OFTEN feel... It was not a pure transactional relationship. Just really good energy there. (And not to mention they did a great job on my nails!) Will defeinitly bring a friend and go back! Would like to continue to support businesses like these! read more

When I moved to Oakland I needed a new nail salon and I stumbled upon this one. Honestly, this is my favorite salon ever!! All the workers are extremely gentle and kind. One thing I love about this place is that it's very relaxing and it's not like all other salons where the employees are talking all the time and sometimes can make people uncomfortable. They accept card as payment, but you should Take cash when you pay!! I always feel bad when I forget to do so. Prices are also reasonable here and they sometimes have deals. Will continue to go to this location for as long as I'm in the Bay Area!! One more thing, you may have to pay for parking, but you can park by the park and it should be free- just pay attention to the signs. read more

Horrific. November 16th, i went in to get acrylics removed and get regular gel. well the lady filed away my nail beds on EVERY SINGLE one of my nails. i have been in SO MUCH PAIN. while she was doing it i kept complaining that she was filing them too much. she even threw -actually threw! the nail clippers at me and told me to cut my own nails then. It's December 12th and my nail beds have still not grown back, I can't do anything, even washing my hair hurts my nails. EVERY SINGLE NAIL BED GONE. read more

WOW, I'm so impressed with UA Nails. I found this spot on Yelp and walked in on a Saturday afternoon. It took 15-20 minutes for two of us to get seated and about an hour to get through the pedicures. Even though it was busy, both technicians took time to carefully clip, scrub, massage, apply, etc. Each step was done with precision and expertise. The end result were beautiful nails colored to the edges, silky smooth skin, and a smile. The total for each pedicure was $35 ($27 + $8 tip). I'll definitely be back! Pro tips: As of 4/9/22, there's a promo for paraffin wax with the pedis OR $5 off. Also, make an appt or allocate 2 hours. read more

VT Nails Spa - Love my acrylic set done by Tina!!!!!! Great quality and great price - Nail Salons Near Me - Oakland, California

Why was this place empty when the spot down the street was not? That's what i was pondering during this fantastic experience. Tina was welcoming, and genuinely concerned in getting my nails exactly how i wanted them - from length to shape to color to finish. And another team member was so detailed in his work on my toes, it was endearing to watch. They were able to start as soon as i walked in, continued at a steady but meticulous pace, and were a great balance of kind and quiet. Prices were solid. Also the spot was very relaxing. No TVs or obnoxious music. Super chill. It's my new go-to. read more

I have been getting gel nails and manicures at this salon for many years. I was worried with Tina retired that I would not find someone who could do gel nails that lasted more than two weeks. However, the technicians at the newly remodeled VT NAils are excellent. I have been now about 5 months off and on and both regular manicures, pedicures and gel nails last an incredibly long time. I highly recommend. read more

Honestly feel really disappointed in my experience of this place, especially with the reviews given. I made an appointment through the website and it was confirmed but when I got there they had no clue where the reservation was. It was crazy busy and there was no one to do my manicure, so they quickly filed and put wraps on my gel for what felt like 20 minutes which is way too long... someone, I'm assuming the person I requested for my appointment came in and started on my nails. He said they were too fragile for gel..probably because they were in wraps for half an hour..and gave me regular polish. He didn't wait between coats so it was impossible for them to dry properly and I felt like I was being rushed out the door before they could fully dry. Ended up taking the polish off at home and doing them myself The shape of my nails and the buffing, etc was nice. But everything else wasn't. I never write bad reviews but felt so disappointed read more

This place was ok. They have a large space, but could use some updating. They took me right away, but the people working on my hands and feet took quit a long time (2.5 hours) for a simple gel mani and regular pedi, no design or anything. Thankfully I had nowhere to be and my hands and feet looked good at the end, but still -- that's a long time. I would return in future as last resort. They charge typical price as nearby competitors ($25 gel mani). Not all of their shellac colors have matching regular polish, so make sure you know that before officially deciding on a color if you want both your hands and feet to match exactly. read more

VT Nails Spa - Gel mani $25 - Nail Salons Near Me - Oakland, California

I was really hoping to like this nail salon, but after 2 strikes, I don't think I will be returning. The first strike was when I received a jelly pedi and the woman who was working on my toes, made me bleed 3 times by roughly cutting my cuticle (the cleaning process was hurried and mediocre). The second strike was when I received a regular manicure and the man who was doing my nails did a sloppy job. He also made me bleed a few times while cutting my cuticles. When he went to paint my nails, it was rushed and the polish was uneven or missing on parts of my nails. I showed my nails to another nail tech and they repainted my nails which was nice but my nails still looked rough (uneven cutting/filing of the nail and overall just messy). I'm sad to leave this review but I'm disappointed. read more

I got a gel manicure last week at VT Nails Spa which apparently changed to new ownership six months ago. Tam immediately offered me a complimentary drink menu and brought over a huge selection of fake nail cards in order to let me select my color. She was extremely detailed and took her time while painting my nails. The gel is a little softer than I am used to so I may ask for a different brand or dry longer under the uv light next time. Overall, I am pleased and will return. read more

I have been going to Tina for my acrylic nails for years. She always does a great job! Their prices are very reasonable and it's not hard to get an appointment. I also regularly use their pedicure services. Basic is $25 and for an extra $10 you can get a longer massage and other special good things. On the rare I've gone somewhere else because I need services on Tuesday (when they're closed) I always regret it. Teenagers these days.. apparently having acrylics every week of their life is the mandatory thing now! My niece was looking for a full set, so I figured I'd get a pedi to fill in time. After calling like 10 places on a Sunday around 4:30pm, this place actually had the time to do us both. My lady spoke very softly.. I didn't catch her name, she was the youngest technician there tho. I like my spa water hot, if not freakishly hot, but when I put my feet in, I almost had my toes burnt off! That's okay, she regulated the temp & I waited for her to get set up. I did the deluxe pedi which was $33, to me was well worth the price. Due to my toe nails being trimmed already, all she had to do first was clear out my cuticles. My specific service included a soak with cuticle care, sea salt scrub, warm paraffin wax, the longest lotion massage I ever received in a pedicure (kid you not) plus polish. I believe due to how late we came in, there were no more hot stones, but my lady still did an EXCELLENT JOB with her massage & I didn't feel like she rushed thru it. Side note: Careful how long you sit in the spa chair, for some reason it made my behind hurt & fall asleep at the same time Their location is not the best, especially if you come at a busy time on a busy day, but for my first impression, I really enjoyed this place! read more
