I've been coming here when in a pinch for pedicures. The salon is clean, spacious and I usually am able to be serviced pretty quickly without an appointment. They also offer nonalcoholic beverages. I've tried the milk & honey pedicure, the jelly, and green tea and honestly aside from a hot stone massage there's not much of a difference. The pedicures last the standard 2-3 weeks with no chipping. Good, not amazing quality most times they are rushing through. My biggest complaint is the color selection. They claim to offer OPI and all of these options but really only have the typical DND. That's fine but don't offer OPI, Essie, Chrome swatches, only to bring out the standard DND when it's time to polish my nails and think I won't notice. It's insulting. As far as Gel X manicures, I go elsewhere because I am super picky about my nail shape and uniformity and no one has gotten it right. read more

This is my second time and I was really disappointed with my recent pedicure. The technician did not finish the service properly-- the final step where she put cuticle oil on my nails, she only put one side of my leg and not on the other side. And I don't know whether the pedicure was done or not. I was left sitting there until I ask someone if they are done working on my feet and one of the technician just brushed me off and say I can leave. This is the 2nd time visiting this salon. The first time the person cut my toe and caused minor bleeding which flared up the next day. They cut me w the metal grinder and I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assume they clean the tools. 2nd time they cut my finger and caused significant bleeding. Blood on me, the employee and the padded nail file. They put acetone on the cut which was incredibly painful. However my biggest concern, for public health reasons, is the fact that they proceeded to wipe the blood off the padded nail file w a used buffer and went to the next client w the tools. I assume that is not the proper way to sanitize tools with a customer's blood on the tool. Sanitation is the biggest concern and secondly don't feel they care if the customer is cut or in pain due to their careless handling of the tools. read more

Let's start with the positive I love my pedicures every time, the gel-x nails come out cute but imo my dip powder manicures were not executed the way you would expect from a professional nail salon. I went in 4 days after I got my nails done because I realized they weren't holding up well. I wish I had time to go sooner because they asked me to pay 30 MORE dollars when the work was very mediocre, to begin with, and the alternative set would be the same amount as what I paid. Two stars. I gave the first star because they tried to provide me with another option, like layering another coat or putting acrylic over SNS to switch the set, but that wouldn't be cute or what I was going for. I gave the second star because I also got an okay pedicure. I would not recommend going here at all. If you do, don't get anything other than a basic manicure, or specifically go to Tina because she seems much more experienced and does better work (if you haven't read any of the yelp reviews already). read more

I just recently discovered this Nail Salon. I honestly think it is the best mani/ pedi I have ever had. Dat was my manicurist and he was extremely patient, thorough and kind. He really took his time with a real attention to detail and precision. In so many of my previous experiences at other nail shops I feel that the manicurist is often rushing and it may not be their fault. Managers may push them to be that way. Its hard to know but at VT Nails they were the opposite. Its also a beautiful salon with really comfy chairs. And I love that they have a whole menu to help you choose with their price point. Absolutely my favorite nail salon I've ever had/been too. When I moved to Oakland a year ago I was stoked to be able to walk out my door and just be a few minute walk to lakeshore. I ended up at U A nails for my first nail salon experience in my new hometown and they exceeded any and all expectations. The first time I went I had one of Tina's employees and she is out of this world talented!!! She did such a gorgeous job on my full set, took her time and was so kind. After that I mostly see Tina now (the owner + her husband) and the service is always 100%. Her husband does an amazing pedicure as well!!! Tina does such a beautiful job on her work and also takes her time to really shape the nails the way you want them. I love natural, dainty acrylics and her and the other woman who do them just blow me away every time. And you cannot beat the prices. I was so use to being overcharged everywhere else so when i saw it was $50 for a full Set and $40 for a fill AND they do an outstanding job, I knew I'd never go any here else again! This place is fantastic! I went to get a pedicure, they offer a range of different kinds of special pedicure options (i.e. aloe vera pedicure, green tea pedicure, etc) all VERY reasonably priced. Had a drink menu (soda, green tea, etc) that is complimentary, nothing fancy but still very nice! Most importantly, they treated me with so much kindness and respect. I did not feel like it was a factory of painting fingers and toe nails, in and out-- as these salons can OFTEN feel... It was not a pure transactional relationship. Just really good energy there. When I moved to Oakland I needed a new nail salon and I stumbled upon this one. Honestly, this is my favorite salon ever!! All the workers are extremely gentle and kind. One thing I love about this place is that it's very relaxing and it's not like all other salons where the employees are talking all the time and sometimes can make people uncomfortable. They accept card as payment, but you should Take cash when you pay!! I always feel bad when I forget to do so. Prices are also reasonable here and they sometimes have deals. I made an appointment through the website and it was confirmed but when I got there they had no clue where the reservation was. It was crazy busy and there was no one to do my manicure, so they quickly filed and put wraps on my gel for what felt like 20 minutes which is way too long... someone, I'm assuming the person I requested for my appointment came in and started on my nails. He said they were too fragile for gel..probably because they were in wraps for half an hour..and gave me regular polish. He didn't wait between coats so it was impossible for them to dry properly and I felt like I was being rushed out the door before they could fully dry. Ended up taking the polish off at home and doing them myself The shape of my nails and the buffing, etc was nice. But everything else wasn't. WOW, I'm so impressed with UA Nails. I found this spot on Yelp and walked in on a Saturday afternoon. It took 15-20 minutes for two of us to get seated and about an hour to get through the pedicures. Even though it was busy, both technicians took time to carefully clip, scrub, massage, apply, etc. Each step was done with precision and expertise. The end result were beautiful nails colored to the edges, silky smooth skin, and a smile. The total for each pedicure was $35 ($27 + $8 tip). I'll definitely be back! This place was ok. They have a large space, but could use some updating. They took me right away, but the people working on my hands and feet took quit a long time (2.5 hours) for a simple gel mani and regular pedi, no design or anything. Thankfully I had nowhere to be and my hands and feet looked good at the end, but still -- that's a long time. I would return in future as last resort. They charge typical price as nearby competitors ($25 gel mani). Not all of their shellac colors have matching regular polish, so make sure you know that before officially deciding on a color if you want both your hands and feet to match exactly. read more

I was really hoping to like this nail salon, but after 2 strikes, I don't think I will be returning. The first strike was when I received a jelly pedi and the woman who was working on my toes, made me bleed 3 times by roughly cutting my cuticle (the cleaning process was hurried and mediocre). The second strike was when I received a regular manicure and the man who was doing my nails did a sloppy job. He also made me bleed a few times while cutting my cuticles. When he went to paint my nails, it was rushed and the polish was uneven or missing on parts of my nails. I showed my nails to another nail tech and they repainted my nails which was nice but my nails still looked rough (uneven cutting/filing of the nail and overall just messy). I have been going to Tina for my acrylic nails for years. She always does a great job! Their prices are very reasonable and it's not hard to get an appointment. I also regularly use their pedicure services. Basic is $25 and for an extra $10 you can get a longer massage and other special good things. On the rare I've gone somewhere else because I need services on Tuesday (when they're closed) I always regret it. Teenagers these days.. apparently having acrylics every week of their life is the mandatory thing now! My niece was looking for a full set, so I figured I'd get a pedi to fill in time. After calling like 10 places on a Sunday around 4:30pm, this place actually had the time to do us both. My lady spoke very softly.. I didn't catch her name, she was the youngest technician there tho. I like my spa water hot, if not freakishly hot, but when I put my feet in, I almost had my toes burnt off! That's okay, she regulated the temp & I waited for her to get set up. I did the deluxe pedi which was $33, to me was well worth the price. Due to my toe nails being trimmed already, all she had to do first was clear out my cuticles. My specific service included a soak with cuticle care, sea salt scrub, warm paraffin wax, the longest lotion massage I ever received in a pedicure (kid you not) plus polish. I believe due to how late we came in, there were no more hot stones, but my lady still did an EXCELLENT JOB with her massage & I didn't feel like she rushed thru it. Side note: Careful how long you sit in the spa chair, for some reason it made my behind hurt & fall asleep at the same time Their location is not the best, especially if you come at a busy time on a busy day, but for my first impression, I really enjoyed this place! read more
