I'm pretty bummed. I went here on a Saturday because many places were fully booked and they were over 4 stars and accepted me as a walk-in. Disclaimer, I've only gotten mani pedis a handful of times. Honestly, it's a sensory nightmare for me and I only get them done for vacations or special occasions. I've never had an issue before though. The lady who serviced me was very kind and accommodating. She didn't make me feel anxious. I told her twice I wanted gel for both, she accidentally gave me regular polish for my pedicure. I didn't say anything, no big deal. I had no pain or issues during the service. She had me walk across their floor barefoot from the pedicure chair to the manicure table, which was kind of nasty, but whatever. However, the next day, I started having pain in my toes, specifically my big toes. It was painful to bear weight and walk. I checked and noticed I have swelling and a small wound on my left big toe. I think she was too rough and thorough. I'm pretty disappointed because I'm going on a vacation where I'll be doing lots of physical activities and hikes. Now I'm worried how I'm going to fare when my feet are in pain from the pedicure. I wish I could give good reviews because the ladies who came in during my session all seemed like regulars who trust their service. Perhaps it was just an off day for my nail artist. I had a great experience at All About Nails. I couldn't make it to my usual nail salon for my pedicure so I called them the morning of the appointment and they were able to accommodate me. I walked in and they immediately welcomed me in and I was amazed at the wide selection of OPI nail polishes they had available. I picked out one of my favorite reds - the OPI Infinite Shine, Adam said "Its New Year's Eve"!! Its really bright shiny and apple red. A return visit to All About Nails, what else are you going to do on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Covid 19 Rules were opened up and my Partner in Crime had pedi appointments set up for Saturday afternoon at All about Nails on Grand Ave. The place is well lit and clean. Following percautions were in place 1. Temperature taken on the forehead. 2. Questionaire to see if the customer has had exposure to Covid 19. 3. Plastic shields setup between customer and nail tech. 4. Masks to be worn by customer I felt safe with all of the safety precaution. Very good service performed by the nail technicians. They removed all of the nasty cuticle stuff and trimmed those toenails. File nice and even. Nice work by Judy and Twi, great customer service. Jeanie runs the operations. I have had a gel manicure done here 3 times, and all three have not been great experiences and the last pushed me over the edge. The first appointment, my nails were all filed unevenly and the polish was lumpy, but the staff was very nice so I decided to come in again. The second appointment, the tech would not file my nails short enough, I had her cut them twice and asked a third time to shorten them and finally gave up for the sake of time. The polish one again came out extremely lumpy, and was so bad that within a day an air bubble formed on one nail and popped, so it started peeling. I called the salon and the owner was very nice an apologetic, and offered to fix the damaged nails for free, which was very nice. She was clearly rushing and the polish was spotty and had smeared around my cuticles and on my finger pads but again, she was doing me a favor so I didn't complain. I decided that even after these two not awesome experiences I would give them one last shot, but this was by far the worst. I asked up front to have my nails filed short, explained that i did not want them longer than my fingertips, and still had to ask again, and when I pointed out that all of my nails were different lengths and even held them up next to each other, the tech told me it's because my nail beds are uneven (uh, what?), so it couldn't be fixed. Again, gel polish came out super lumpy and flawed, with obvious air bubbles underneath. But the worst of all is that all of my nails are broken. Not an exaggeration, every single one of my nails is broken, or split along my cuticle edge. My cuticle skin looks like it was filed with sandpaper, and I have half a dozen hangnails that I did not come in with. This salon IS super affordable, but definitely a "get what you pay for" situation. Learned my lesson, won't be back, cannot recommend to a friend. read more

I wanted to like this place, I really did. The ladies were so sweet and I was going to give a 3 star rating for the pedicure alone. However the gel manicure was too messed up to qualify for a 3. I wanted a clean "diagonalish" French manicure (you'll understand when you see the picture). The woman who did my nails didn't use any special tools, just a brush. Initially I was okay with it, thinking to myself the next time I come I'll just ask for a simple gel manicure instead. However, upon looking more closely at my nails, I see that dust has gotten into some of them and will stay there until the gel is removed. There are also air bubbles. Furtermore, when the woman was shaping my nail into coffin-shape, she failed to file one pointy part of my pinky nail. I had to go back home and shape it myself because the pointy part would have annoyed me to no end. It turned out to be $50 dollars total instead of the expected $43 though the nails are botched. Average salon. Price is reasonable but don't expect anything special. The last time I went the woman rushed through my pedicure, only buffed and applied oil to one foot. The two times I've been they didn't scrub the bottom very well. I wanted a very light color and it looks best if you apply the first coat and let it dry a bit before adding the second, but she apparently was in a rush to be done (mind you, there was only one other customer in the salon at the time and she was already being serviced. There weren't any customers waiting). She tried to add the clear immediately after when it clearly needed a third coat to look even. Not very happy with the application, there's polish on the cuticles and it's not even. Honestly I may take it off at home and do another color which would be a waste of money but I hate when light colors are sloppy as it's unforgiving. Not sure I will go back. read more

The people who work here are bad ass and do excellent work. Like... truly the lord's work because I damaged my nail bed running and they don't bat an eyelash when i'm like, 'yeah that nail fell off can you just paint the skin?' 'Oh that? that's like a bloody bruise under my nail just hit ignore and paint away, please.' And they're like, 'say no more, fren. we gotchu.' This is the best nail salon in the bay and I refuse to hear otherwise. It's the best value with the price and quality and because the place is small their attention to detail is unmatched. You definitely need to call ahead (preferably more than a day ahead) to make an appointment because they are always full (again it's small), but calling here is like the ONE place I don't mind calling. They can even recognize me by just saying hello (props to my distinct nasal-y midwestern voice). I never get nail art but I will get crazy with all sorts of different colors and they never mind or give me shit. Having lived in this neighborhood for 4+ years, I've struggled to find a salon that is consistent in their level of service and attention to detail. After my first appointment (for my wedding), Jeannie remembered me going forward and always greets me by name upon entry into her salon. I haven't found a better, diligently accomplished pedicure in Oakland that takes care of my needs (including my crazy ingrown toenails that need extra TLC). Haven't had a bad ingrown outbreak since coming here religiously. Yes, you need to make an appointment. But does that not speak volumes? All About Nails nail salon is located on the streets of Grand Ave along with many other shops and restaurants! I came in on a Thursday afternoon and parking was easy-peasy. I booked an appoint the day before and when I came in, the place only had one other woman doing her nails. The service is great, they offer you tea or water while getting your nails done. They're quiet when doing your nails, which I think is a good idea (because I like silence), and because from past experiences, there have been ladies speaking in Vietnamese and according to native-speakers, they say they're talking crap! Wuuut. All About Nails doesn't do that though!! So, no worries! The shop itself is small, with 3 manicure tables and 4 massage chairs (not sure if they work). They have a great selection of nail polishes - Essie, OPI, and some miscellaneous. They arrange them by nudes, pinks, and other colors. I chose a red hue from OPI called Wocka Wocka - loved it! It appeared to be a sexy red in the store, when shined under the sunlight. But when I enter a restaurant or home under florescent lighting, it turns kinda maroon! Their pricing is also cheap! My go-to nail salon (so far) was in SF, on Lombard Street (Sassi Beauty Salon) .. which is located across the city from where I live (by Daly City). I tried finding other nail salons closer to home with pricing as cheap ($30 for reg mani/pedi) as theirs but had no luck. Since I'm in the East Bay all the time cause I live in Hayward, I was so happy to find All About Nails! A reg mani/pedi here is $27! I will definitely come back again when I need my nails done! Love this place! Got 3 gel manicures so far, they lasted me about 3 weeks each. It's a small family business, affordable prices and nice atmosphere. Brought a friend today who loved them also. Customer beware: Nail tech ripped the cuticle around my toe such that it bled, was sore for two weeks (needed to take painkiller for the first few days), and took a month to appear healed. During my appointment, the nail tech didn't seem to realize that the cuticle was damaged and she kept picking at it to the point that I had to tell her to stop. Ultimately, I hope the cut doesn't lead to a scar or infection. I also just contacted my doctor as I'm still feeling soreness in the impacted area. I've experienced minor redness after a cuticle trim at other nail salons before, but never a painful wound from treatment like this. Much more than the cuticle trim I expected while getting a pedicure. Shortly after the appointment, I respectfully informed the owner Jeannie via phone about what happened. She apologized, but she didn't seem genuinely too concerned. As other reviewers mentioned, there doesn't appear to be much interest in garnering repeat business at this establishment. After speaking to Jeannie for a few minutes, she only offered to try to do anything to rectify the situation (which was that she could perhaps put antiseptic oil on the cut) after I asked if there was something she could do. At my usual salon, they proactively offer to do something when they make a mistake as good customer service and a show of sincere care for their patrons. Also, I overheard the owner gossiping to her client during a manicure-- at a volume such that the whole salon could hear-- about a different upcoming client who was running late. Although my manicure lasted very well (hence the salon deserves one star for this review), I don't plan on visiting All About Nails again. read more
