Janice does such a great job with my lashes. I am really happy since I've been going to her (for about a little less than a year now). Not only is she super close by, making logistics a breeze, she is also an artist and a perfectionist! She is so good at making my lashes just right for my face and my eye shape. She listens to me and is always polite, patient, and attentive. I'll tell her certain things that I like and prefer and she always does her very best to be super accommodating. I find her price point to be extremely fair. Especially for the work she does. Easy when it comes to scheduling too. Very communicative and as sweet as can be. You go Janice! The space is shared and open. I'm used to private studios when I've gotten my lashes done in the past, but the building interior is so large, with high ceilings, that it doesn't matter that there are other people around. This review if for Hayley's eyelash extension service (I had an old review at her previous location so this is long overdue). I wish I had a more glamorous photo to share of my eyelash extensions but I decided to just take one now on a whim for this review. So this is what my lashes look like, straight out of bed, no brushing. This is it and it looks great. This photo is taken a couple days after a fill. Hayley is very good and I get the impression that she takes a lot of pride in her work. She's actually pretty fast given that she lashes almost every single lash, if not every single lash. I would know since I used to get "one to one" lashes with her. I am pretty particular about my extensions. And for me, her extensions last a long time. They still look really amazing at the end of 4 weeks. I also personally like them "not too long" since I also wear glasses and I like a mix of lashes. Hayley is really wonderful at what she does. I appreciate that she allows me to relax and sometimes even fall asleep during the fills. Even at 39 weeks pregnant with a giant belly, she offers these wedge pillows to make you more comfortable so you can lie on your side for the fills--which I think is very thoughtful and kind of her, especially because it seems like an inconvenience for her to be lashing at a weird angle. I actually have tried a few of the other technicians (Sandy and Daisy) and they are also very nice and good at what they do. Hayley is my favorite though so I will be getting my lashes done by her for as long as she is working! I've been with her for four years now. I highly recommend her. She's been doing lashes for a long time and is the first lash artist I've had who cares about tailoring my lashes to my eyes and what is most flattering for my face, and I've been getting lashes for nearly a decade. She was honest but kind that the lashes I had before going to her were much too long for my face and told me I would benefit from a shorter lash with less volume to open my eyes back up. She was also honest it would likely surprise me at first but that I'd hopefully love it--and she was right! My eyes look more open, the set I have now is more comfortable and easy to take care of with less fall out because they're smaller and less heavy. My mom and I have been going to Sandy for the past couple of months and her lashes look fabulous and last! I get hybrid lashes, and can go two or three weeks before needing a fill. Even when it is time for the fill my lashes still look nice just not as full as I like them how I like to describe it is when I go in for fill they look like a classic set. WARNING!! The lash techs are excellent! 5 STARS TL;DR: This place has TOXIC fumes and no ventilation. You will get sick, let me explain. I've been here twice. The first time, the tech sweetly booked me a late appointment because I had an event the next day. She took me at 7pm and since no one else was there, so I didn't know what other services were performed in the space. For 90 minutes my nose BURNED from fumes. Though I've been to other places to get my lashes done, I just assumed it was the lash glue. It was uncomfortable to breathe but I got through it. The next day I had a runny nose, that progressed to a minor sore throat, that progressed to white spots on my tonsils that I thought was strep, or mono, or...something! I started to develop hives and for a week or so I was getting every test there is. All negative. no strep. no mono. no flu. Mysterious! I googled "lash glue allergy" to inconsistent results. Just assumed I had a weird bug. Yesterday, 9/9/22, I go back to get lashes from another tech. As soon as I walk in I am HIT with FUMES. It smells like a 90s nail salon--I say that because there is actually a nail salon next door where I'd just gotten a mani-pedi and they don't smell like this! This time I come around noon so I see several lash techs, but there's also a nail tech working up front. THE PLACE SMELLS LIKE PURE ACETONE I'm wearing a mask but my nose burns. When my tech is ready I say "can you smell that? can I have a second mask?" She looks confused and I say "oh, you haven't been outside and back in, huh?" She's used to it. I am genuinely worried for her and everyone else's health. I put a second mask over my mask and for 2 hours I can feel the inside of my nose burning with every breath. An hour later I'm coughing. All night I'm having THE SAME sinus issues as before, but worse. My chest hurts, I have a coughing fit. Same thing that happened last time. It feels like Allergic Rhinitis and you *can* google Nail Salon Allergy and voilà, all of my symptoms described are consistent with inhaling DANGEROUS FUMES, including hives that appear anywhere on the body. This isn't a polish allergy, it's the chemicals and poor ventilation causing a systemic reaction in response to an irritant. I'll end with this, my lash tech said her nose is always messed up, she's always having issues. This place is a HEALTH HAZARD. Also, I get my lashes done to go to a party but it's not cute to show up with a bunch of COVID symptoms like runny nose, coughing, rashes (monkeypox out here too) all because they have no air flow and are NOT set up for lash fumes. (I've never had covid, hella vaxxed, I test regularly, and I had a whole slew of lab work when me and my doc tried to figure out my symptoms last time.) I'll also alter it if this business fixes the fumes issue, it's really gonna harm the health of folks who are working there 8 hours a day, in addition to clients. read more

Project Glow Studio its self is a nice clean trendy beauty salon conveniently located on Grand Ave about half a block up from the grand lake theater on the opposite side. The outside of the salon blends in and can be easily missed if you're not looking for it . The one downfall of the location is Safe parking. But the real reason I even visit the studio is to see Hayley. Hayley is my sweet soft spoken lash queen who always gets me looking right. I Normally get a fill every 3-4 weeks and with my retention I could probably push them even farther but prefer a fuller look and tend to keep up on my fills. Hayley does high quality fast work that last and is durable. She sets you up nicely so you are in a position to make them last. Just Because Hayley does such a good job doesn't mean you don't have to put in the work and do daily maintenance to keep them clean and detangled!! I've used Project Glow on and off for years. After a long break from lash extensions, I decided to come back here. I did a classic full set with Jenny for 9:15am. She called at 9:15 to tell me she was running late. Everyone runs late once in a while, not the end of the world. 15 minutes late and we started the appointment, afterwards she didn't talk to me ask me how I liked them, asked about booking a fill it was all very dismissive. I scheduled a 1 week fill (it was 9 days from my original appt) and due to the crazy weather the tech asked if I could move the appointment. Of course, no problem. But then it ended up being pushed out two days. I was on a time crunch that day, Jenny was 20 minutes late again, I had to be off the table 40 minutes after she arrived (45 min is the time allotted for a 1 week fill) and then I get up and she charges me for a two week fill. I figured since it was a tech that moved the original appointment, they'd still honor the one week pricing. Wrong. Disappointed. The lash sets are nice but the customer service aspect has made the entire space lose its appeal for me unfortunately. read more

***for lash lift only*** I've been getting lash lifts for some time now and I've never experienced so much discomfort during the process until today. I was excited to visit this spot as the reviews were positive and it's close to where I live now. I did have to ask to adjust my eye patch multiple times as it was poking into my eye, and upon leaving I was even more disappointed to see my lashes barely even lifted and I still had glue on my eyelids The person providing the service gave me a discount, which I paid for as I still wanted to pay something for her time, but it was still quite a lot for leaving me with the same lashes I came in with. The name of the person who did my lashes was a name I recognized based off the reviews. I am unsure if she was new but charging $120 for the service I received (new or not) seems very unfair and misleading. read more

I had a lash lift + tint done, and it turned out awesome! It was my very first experience getting my lashes done. Minus one star because I had two weird experiences at the shop. When I came in, there weren't any other clients in the shop aside from 2 employees that worked there. After my session was done, it startled me to find another client was laying next to me getting her lashes done. I guess she was just super quiet when she came in? I dunno... Second weird part... a man randomly walked in asking if we wanted some free steak, because he had some extra... the lady who did my lashes kept telling the guy that no one in the shop wanted free steak. But the guy persistently kept asking not wanting to leave right away. It wasn't until after I left the shop that I realized how I put myself in an unsafe situation. Going to a shop where my eyes had to be closed the entire time, I shouldn't have gone alone. Overall, I'm now more weary of my surroundings and even if the shop has security cameras (not sure if they have em, wasn't paying attention) -- I likely won't be coming back because I felt very vulnerable and unsafe after reflecting back on what happened. read more

This salon is comparable to my fave lash salon in NYC. The waiting room is not only incredibly chic and welcoming but immaculate. I had an "outside salon volume fill" appointment with Tyna as my lash technician and she was great! She asked me how I liked my lashes styled. She explained what she was doing as she did it and best of all, she made sure I knew how to care for my lashes. Another thing Tyna did that I really appreciated was texting me a couple days prior to my appointment to let me know that fills from outside salons cost extra. Many salons won't do that. I was introduced to this place by a friend and also a patient I had taken care of. THANK YOU! Omg, after working with 4 lash artists over the span of 5-6 years- I can safely say that I've found a new home and lash artist to have my extensions done. Project Glow not only does lash extensions- they also provide waxing services and eyebrow tinting I believe. The shop itself is really modern and cute. There are 6 beds that are comfy with blankets to keep you warm (time for a lash nap) and they play pretty good music. I've had the pleasure of working with Daisy for all of my appointments and have received the MOST compliments with her style. I leave the shop feeling confident, nothing is stinging my eyes when I go for that first eyelash wash after 48 hours, and I don't know what magic she does- but my extensions are now able to last 3 full weeks (when in the past I would have major fall out after 1.5 weeks). I've never had any problems finding a parking spot each time I've gone for my appointments. The commute from Daly City to Oakland during the week (between 11-1) isn't bad. It takes me about 20-30 minutes each way- so I don't mind it. Especially, since my lashes come out looking great each time! Give this place a try and check my girl Daisy out! read more
