My esthetician is Paula and let me tell you I don't lie when I say she's more like family to me. When I call Paula to schedule and appointment, she's prompt and gives me the earliest schedule to my liking. When I arrive, she always greets me with her warm smile and gets right to work. We have tried a few different styles that give me the look I want, natural and wispy. She also doesn't take a whole lot of time like other places I've been to, and I'm out of there in 1-1:30hrs. SHIREEN! Woah girl! She has lashing down! It was my first time, but as an Esthetician myself, I had an ideal standard of cleanliness and application. She exceeded my expectations and before I was out of the chair I knew I had to re-book my next appointment. This woman is going to book up fast once word gets out. She was fast- literally it only felt like fifteen minutes. She is so delicate and calming, really puts you at ease. There was only one issue and it was my fault. I misplaced my debit card and it was a last minute evening apt, so going to the bank was not an option. I thought I had just enough to put half on my credit card and the rest cash. Well I looked online under classic fill which was $100, but really a first time set is $150. I was totally embarrassed, but they were warm and excepted a check. I was only then able to tip $11, so I still owe $14 to Shireen for a proper tip, but it all worked out and I am so happy. Just make sure you know exactly what you want and go over pricing first if you don't want to look silly like me. Lastly: You do walk through a barber shop in the front. I was completely fine with it. I came in and let's say a panic mode because I had chose to give my nail shop that I've gone to for five years a chance to do my lashes for the first time mind you for $25. I got home and when I woke up the next morning my eyes literally were stuck together all I can explain in words that are equal enough to tell you the feeling is that the glue that they used for each separate single eyelash combined into one Hardened strip that was as hard as a rock. Immediately I knew somethings wrong I called the nail shop and said my lashes were stuck together when I woke up and it's harden into one complete solid piece of glue and they told me to use baby oil. For two hours I put so much baby oil on my eye it did not touch whatever this glue they put on my eyes it didn't do anything didn't loosen the glue nothing I was in a complete panic I called them back they tell me to go to the beauty supply across the street from their nail salon and ask for eyelash glue remover. I did that and I got that and when I tell you that the minute it touched my eye It was on fire I can't say anything else but my eyes were on fire and as I'm rubbing in this eyelash glue remover I'm literally feeling my eyelashes being ripped out long story short I came in to happy lashes with a gap in between my lashes on both sides and I could literally count how many lashes I had left and I was horrified and in pain and didn't know what to do. I had used happy lashes before so I called them and made an appointment with Paula Ngo. I will include a picture of what my eyelashes looks like before I came in to see her because when I tell you she worked miracles on the maybe 20 eyelashes that I had left I was shocked. When I looked at her miraculous work I said I will never go anywhere but to happy lashes in Alameda and be with Paula Ngo. Not only did I walk out having beautiful lashes but she recommended that I use Latisse . Which is a prescribed serum that is $100 but when you read the reviews see pictures of the reviews women in similar situations that I was in I didn't have to think twice I spent the $100. The next month I came in she could immediately see the growth I could see the growth I was so incredibly thankful for her suggestion and I still have some of the Latisse left and I've seen her twice since I bought that it's a little tiny bottle all you do is just put it on the skin right above your hairline and it works miracles. Paula Ngo has always been so wonderful before and after the "situation." The thing I learned more than anything is if something is way too cheap then it's too good to be true and that's what I learned. I just saw Paula this past week I hadn't seen her for almost a month she remembered that I had gone on vacation for my birthday and immediately asked me how my birthday was she's just a very caring, genuine, good woman and I'm so happy that I found happy lashes in Alameda and wish I would've never made the mistake of going to anyone else but them! I would recommend Paula Ngo and all of happy lashes I've never had a bad experience before or after my horrible situation. My first visit with her after my eyelashes were literally ripped out was so incredible I could not believe that she was able to do that with my lashes and I could literally count like 20 lashes and i had a huge gap of eyelashes missing being ripped out ...it looked beautiful When I walked out I literally feel like crying it looked so good and she made me feel so beautiful! First time with extensions, whole process took about 2 hours. The room was very relaxing to be in and she had soft music playing in the background (still surprised I didn't fall asleep). My lashes were so beautiful when she finished! Very natural looking, a little too much for me initially, but definitely grade A work. I'm Asian so I know our eyelashes are difficult to work with. A comment I'd like to make is that I've had my lashes now for almost three weeks and they, in the beginning, irritated the shit outta me. (Not because of the work but because I'm not used to them). I pretty much stopped caring for them a week after by scratching my eyes in the morning, getting them wet in the shower or when washing my face, still going over eye area. And let me tell you, if you're going to this place, see Janeen because some lashes have fallen out but they're definitely still going strong. And when I say I rub my lashes, I REALLY GET IN THERE. A major plus is that they kind of fell out in the right areas so they don't bother me as much anymore (natural selection at it's finest!). On another note, I tipped her 20% of the cost and she seemed a little shocked, saying it was a generous tip. PLEASE TIP YOUR TECHNICIANS, they put in two hours of work for you and it's quality service! I will definitely be returning now that I know what to expect from wearing them. The lash tech herself might be good but this place gives off major red flags as soon as you walk in. It's not a lash salon, it's a couple of rooms in the back storage area behind a haircut place. When I walked in there was no one at the desk. When they took me to the back, it looked totally sketchy - random boxes piled up, an unleashed dog walking around.. They took me into a room alone with the lash tech and closed the door. The room was tiny and there wasn't a window (it can't be good to be breathing in that room for hours). Overall a really sketchy place. Lash extension application is such a risky and delicate thing. It's not a service you want to have done in someone else's extra storage room. read more

A couple of months ago, I decided to be adventurous and try out eyelash extensions... here we are a couple of months later and I am hooked! Grace has been doing my lash extensions for a couple of months now and I am addicted! I love how natural they look and how beautiful they are! I was also overwhelmingly surprised by how lightweight they felt. I get so many compliments on my lashes and they last for about four weeks. Grace is amazing. Maria has done amazing work on me... the kind that gets comments in person by strangers, impresses photographers, and makes you feel like a fantasy designed-up diva with the most eye-catching eyes to be seen. It's worth the trip each time. Everyone should try this at least once for a special occasion when you want to wow everyone... but you might get addicted. The maintenance is reasonable. I'm no stranger to having my eyes worked on... contact lens wearer here... and she's so gentle, it doesn't bother me being on the table getting this kind of work done. It goes by in a flash if you can relax and zone out. I've nearly fallen asleep it's so soothing to be in her care! She's so friendly and a joy to deal with each time. There are different levels of "lashes" so you can fit your taste and budget. If anything goes awry, she's great with her customer care too. I've had several experiences with eyelash extensions and Maria is by far the best. Don't think you're saving yourself money by going to the cheap dirty salons in Chinatown. The cheaper extensions last only several weeks whereas Maria's application lasts at least a month plus longer if you really make an effort to take care of them (sleep flat on your back, don't douse your entire head under the shower stream, don't use oil-based soaps or makeup remover.) The extensions Maria uses are mink and look much more natural than what was available several years ago. Don't forget to purchase the extension mascara, which I swear by. It really helps hold the lashes in place, almost like a hair gel. Warning: If you're going through anything traumatic in your life, (i.e. your dog passed away, your boss hates you, your DVR cut off the season finale of Millionaire Decorators) make sure you're done crying before you get your application because those salty crocodile tears will wreck your lovely lashes. read more

Maria, was amazing! I had a photoshoot coming up and decided to get false lashes to enhance my eyes for the first time. I decided to go to a local nail salon and get individuals placed on... Stupid me, I should of known that 25 dollar eyelashes were not the smartest thing to do. I ended up ripping almost half of my false lashes to try and get them off! The vietnamese lady told my to wait for them to fall off, but they were all glued together! That means that when one false off ,it just dangles on untill the rest of them fall off! Anyways, so I looked online and discovered "Happy Lashes". I met with Maria, who took care of me and showed me step by step what she was doing and I could not believe how gentle it was! The first time I got my lashes done, I got them done with another person, and they fell out quickly and awkwardly after two weeks leaving me with some really long lashes, some backwards lashes, and lashes that moved and blew with the A/C in my car. However, I made the wise decison to see Adrienne, and she fixed my lashes amazingly. Not only were they beautiful, but they lasted 4+ weeks (I could've gone longer than I did too). She relashed me, and they're going on 4+ weeks again! This is due to her attention to detail, asking me what I want, and actually taking her time to do good work. I have found my Lash Lady and I'm telling everyone!!! Lan is amazing!!! I had my first lash extension experience with someone else and was satisfied because I thought that her work was good and acceptable. Meaning that I didn't know none of my lashes were supposed to remove themselves within a day. I thought the loss was a norm. Then I met a lady that works out at the same fitness location as me and her lashes were talking to me from across the gym floor. Not the type of talk that you get from those fake lashes that cost $15 at some nail shop in the hood. You know the kind I'm talking about and you know you had a few sets before you read this review. LOL . Of course I asked the lady about her lashes and she seemed shocked that I knew they were extensions. Mine were good but hers were GREAT!!! She sent me to LAN and the rest is history... sort of. Actually, not quite. Lan is amazing. I've been going to her for two months now in 3 week intervals and my lashes are on point. They look and feel natural. Of course the lashes loosen after a while but they're supposed to. But even then, by the time I get the reminder that I have a touch-up appointment, my lashes are still pretty full. I went to Happy Lashes because I was going on vacation. I thought it would be nice if I could just have some full lashes and not have to deal with applying makeup every day.
