Like Jen S., I walked in here by mistake, intending to go to the better-reviewed salon across the street. It was 1pm on a Friday and the salon was very busy and loud. I waited 10 minutes for a pedicure. The water was already sitting in the bowl when I sat down, which made me a little skeeved-out, and it was room temperature. The technician was very fast - this is the kind of place designed for lunch-hour manicures and heavy client turn-over - but quite sloppy. Nearly all of my toes had polish slathered around the edges of my nails. It looked like something I might have done at home which is, ummm...kind of missing the point. I have found the woman I want to do my eyebrows for the rest of my life. Rose did the best job I have ever had anyone do on my eyebrows. While it took a little longer than other women I have seen here, it was a superb job. My eyebrows look awesome and there were no tiny hairs remaining that I had to pluck at home later. It's cash only, but an eyebrow wax is only $10 here, so it's the bargain of the century. The other women I have been to definitely do a good job, but I'll be going to Rose from now on. read more

I like this place because it's quick and allows for easy lunch mani/pedi. However, that's about all you're gonna get. If you're looking for special treatment and feeling pampered, this isn't your place. And the prices are run-of-the-mill. I haven't found a place that is super cheap in Chicago. Mani usually lasts about 5 days for me and I'm pretty rough on my nails, Pedi can last 2 1/2-3 weeks. read more

I also had a living social voucher. Used it yesterday and while there the experience was pleasant. However, my no chip manicure is sloppy. I get them often, I understand it's a gel tip. The gentleman who did mine attached the gel to my skin and my nails don't look like they were professionally done. Pedicure was as expected but wouldn't spend over 25 for it. To be honest, I won't go back. I prefer elite nails on north ave, cheaper and a better experience. One hour for a pedi and no chip mani is not enough for 70 in regular priced services. read more

What a difference a technician can make!! I had just a no-chip polish removal the last time with Bruce, and he gave me an excellent service - so much so, that I booked another appointment with the salon this time, for a no-chip polish removal and application. Unfortunately, I did not ask for Bruce this time, thinking, how bad could the others be? Turns out... VERY!!! The lady I got (I didn't catch her name unfortunately) looked like she would rather be anywhere else but here. She was rough with the removal and was hurting my cuticles when she brushed them. I had to ask her thrice to be careful, when she eventually moved to a smaller file. Each step of the process was painful. She would leave polish left on my nails until I pointed it out to her, did not wait for the acetone to set in before she started trying to roughly buff them off my nails (I asked her to wait and she finally did, with a sour face). And then the french manicure! She was in such a rush - despite the salon being empty because of the cold - that she started on the white tips before I stopped and asked her about when she would apply the nude pink undertone. She stopped, and then applied it. So had I not asked, my french manicure would have just been white tips with a clear overcoat! And once she was done, I stepped out and then had to go back in since I realized there was an ugly reddish/ black mark in the polish on one of my nails. I just got back and realized that the nail polish is so thinly applied/ with bubbles on my other hand that I might just have to redo it myself. The only saving grace was the hand lotion and 1-min hand massage that she provided at the end. The only reason I will go back is if it's an emergency, since it is close to where I work. read more

The guy who did my nails was in a rush. After he finished all he did was chit chat with the other employees. It wasn't like there was a lot of people so he had to hurry. I got gel nails and he didn't even measure the tips before gluing them on. This caused one of them to be too small for my fingernail. I didn't notice until I left. So I had a tiny piece of the corner of my nail with out gel. You couldn't tell that much, but since I'm a perfectionist it really bothered me. I did my nails downtown because I thought, "they must do them really good downtown because a lot of people get them done here." I was wrong. I went for a fill-in at a nail salon in Hermosa Park and they charged less and I promise they did a better job. They looked more natural. Never coming here again. read more

This place is great for a quickie mani/pedi in the Loop. The Manager is really friendly and accomodating. Good polish selection and a lot of people working, so typically no matter how crowded it is, you can still get in with minimal wait. Bonus points that they play nature shows on the flat screens. read more

I went for an eyebrow wax and since I'm usually not picky since I go for just clean ups I agreed to let this elderly woman w glasses who works there do my eyebrows. I first told her I needed them trimmed because I hate when they look super long and she straight out told me no that she wouldn't do that... Like excuse me its my eyebrows!!! She then proceeded to wax them.. since I obviously had my eyes closed I can't say that she wasn't paying attention to her job but she dropped freaking wax all over my eyelid and it smeared down to my eyelashes so OBVIOUSLY she wasnt paying much attention, that was easily one of the most painful scary experiences to be honest and to top it all off I only got 50% off my wax that a different lady was asked to do afterwards, like seriously?!? Honestly, I think anyone you get is pretty good but I like how thorough she is the most. I am a regular when it comes to getting No Chip manicures, and not only did four of my nails chip within the first two days, they are all cracking and practically see thru. Got a $15 lunchtime manicure on a particularly hard day at work and was pleased with the results. No-frills here, and the no-chip manicure is $35.... $20 more?! Never got the pedicure. I was told 5-10 minutes, and wasted 30 waiting in a chair until the water went cold. You should be able to provide a realistic wait time, especially in the loop where most people are coming during their work day and are time sensitive. read more

I was actually going to write a pretty crappy review of this place after my first visit, but after two more trips I can say they are pretty decent (if you go in for certain things). The pedicures are pretty good, however I think they are a bit aggressive with the cuticle removal. The manicures are hit and miss. I hated how quickly it starting chipping, especially the French, but on the last two visits I got straight up color and they look quite nice. I recommend being discerning and telling them if something bothers you right away, b/c I'm pretty sure they would kill if you came in at a later date for changes. They are fast, within walking distance from work and convenient to get to - no luxury relaxation here, folks. You come in, get your nails did and go. Which is how I like it...sometimes. This place is inconsistent, at best. I've come here at least 10 times over lunch breaks and these are the pros and cons: Pros: They can usually get you in pretty quickly and no appointment is necessary; They have a big selection of nail colors Some of their techs are decent/ pretty good They offer waxing and eyelash extensions, neither of which I've used, but it's still nice to have those services offered. Cons: It smells strongly of gel nails in there; The techs who are bad are REALLY bad. I had an older lady Friday who rushed through, barely did anything to file or shape my nails, and then messed up the polish on a few of my nails and rushed through trying to fix it. Two days later and several of my nails are chipped. My hand massage totaled 3 second per hand. The people who came in before me were still being worked on when I was leaving. It was a pretty bang up job. Not really a relaxing atmosphere Will I go back? Probably, but only when I'm desperate for a manicure. I am not impressed. I went here for an acrylic nail fill and a no chip manicure. She didn't push back my cuticles or anything, all my nails were filed slanted, and my fingernails look like Chicklets. And when I asked her to fix the filing, she tried to tell me the 30 degree angle was straight. they when i asked her to touch up the polish, she rolled her eyes and started speaking in her native tongue!! You get what you pay for. I worked across the street and liked being able to "pop in" when it was convenient. It is true the capability of the staff in inconsistent and they don't go the extra mile but I have had some better than average gel fills. If you can get Mai, I would totally recommend her. I never learn. This place is perfectly located by my office so on a handful of occasions I've stopped in to have a quick manicure/no chip/no chip removal. Manicures- sloppy. no matter the technician, my polish is always THICK, cuticles never trimmed properly, and I usually find nail polish under my nail bed. I usually like this place. But the last two times I've been here, I didn't like the way they made me feel. Instead of being treated like a customer, I was treated like a pest. The last time I was there, I saw a nail color I liked and they moved me and gave me another set of nail colors to choose from. I told them I liked the nail color samples at the last station, they insisted that the samples at this station were the same and they were not. It was like pulling teeth for them to just go get me the nail samples that I was previously looking at two stations down! Fine. I go back last night with my sister for some bonding time, they refused to let us sit next to each other. Again, whatever. I had also asked for a specific nail tech and he did not do my nails. He was too busy getting a mani himself. But to take the cake, I asked the nail tech to make my nails short, because I have to be able to type, she was hesitant to do so. Then I asked her to round out my nails and she started being so rough that she cut my finger! She wasn't even apologetic. I will not be returning. I have been going to this nail pro for years. I went in for a mani/pedi two days ago. Since I was getting the mani/pedi close to the event I'm going to, I opted for regular instead of no-chip. Within 48 hours, one nail completely peeled off, with two more well on their way. I called explaining what happened and while the woman offered to repaint them if I stop in (event is tonight and I don't have time), she also explained that regular manicures now only last 1 or 2 days and that really I should get no-chip. I'm sorry, but this is bogus. Before no-chips were a thing, regular manicures would last at least a few days and maybe you'd end up with a little chip, not an entire nail peeling off. I'm not sure what has changed, if they've added something different to the polish or spray or what, but be aware. This feels like an attempted push at making everyone get no-chip. Sadly, after many years, I will not be returning. 3 nails peeling off within 48 hours is just bad business. Disappointing. read more

I was recently purchased a daily special for $33.00 for manicure/pedicure no chip polish. At first I was upset because I did have to go to Fed Ex and print out my confirmation. When I returned to the shop not only one employee but three employees were taking care of me. I have had mani/pedicure for the last 10 years., I was satisfied will the service. My pedicure was great and the employee actually matched my polish so that after my manicure the polish looks exactly like my toes. They did apologies for the misunderstanding. I am very surprised by the low ratings on Nail Pro. My experience has been great. The staff at Nail Pro is very friendly and hard-working. The many times that I have stopped there to have my manicures/pedicures have resulted in great looking nails and toes. My pedicures last for weeks looking beautiful without fading nor chipping. I receive countless compliments on my nails. I tried the 'no chip' manicures and did not like them through no fault of the technician. 'No Chip' nail polishes do not stay on for very long. Mine would chip after a few days. 'No Chip' polish manufacturers need to figure out a better method for removing 'no chip' polishes and improving no chipping. It takes 30 minutes to remove which is why Nal Pro charges a fee to remove the 'no chip' polish. It is not the nail technician's fault that 'no chip' polishes do not deliver what they promise - it is the manufacturers problem. The nail technicians at Nail Pro do a very good job and try to meet customers needs. If you are not happy about something tell them right away and they will try to meet your demands. This nail location is very busy which is why the staff works quickly so as not not to keep people waiting for an appointment. This is a great place if you work downtown with a busy schedule and want to get a great manicure or pedicure in a hurry. read more

I bought the Living Social deal for a pedicure and no-chip manicure. The experience was AWFUL! The pedicure was completely rushed and the woman did a terrible job of actually painting my nails - the color was uneven, she didn't go down to the nail bed on most and then went over the top of the nails onto my skin on almost all! The no-chip manicure was HORRIFIC! I have had no-chip manicures done before, so I know how it should be applied and dried throughout the process. The male nail tech I had did not let it dry during the process, the color was uneven and on my skin, he did not go down to my nail bed and the whole thing peeled off within the first two days! This shop is poor quality!! The only redeeming thing that I experienced was how nice the older gentleman who took my payment information was - he gets five stars. Worst manicure I have ever gotten. I was in and out in 15 minutes (and that includes the time under the drying fans). The woman didn't even take the pusher thing around the cuticles.
