This spot used to be one of my family's go-to pizzerias since we lived in the neighborhood. After not going for a while, I decided to pay a visit recently when I was craving a slice. Sadly, it's not as good as I remember. I ordered a veggie slice, which the staff added the toppings on the spot for me (spinach, broccoli, mushrooms) and my friend got a cheese slice. The slices could've been more toasted and tasted better after I added hot honey from home. We also ordered their garlic knots, which were quite soft and resembled dinner rolls rather than knots. It seemed like they just bake it all closely in a sheet pan and separate them afterwards. Overall, their pizza is just mediocre and lack the crisp. My go to pizza spot in the neighborhood. Cheese is always good but my favorite is the fresh mozzarella and tomato. It's really flavorful, lots of garlic. Their white slice is good too. We got a pie of the white and added sausage - it was a little dry but ended up adding chili oil and it fixed it. Shop itself has a few tables. Everyone I've encountered here is friendly. And in the summer I get the Italian ice. read more

Used to order from Trio, until I discovered how much better the pizza is here! I always order over the phone for pick up, because I can request that they make the crust thinner and crispier. In the times that I've randomly stopped by for a slice or a pie without ordering ahead, the difference is slightly noticeable. Their crust is delicious enough to begin with, but when it's thinner, the cheese to sauce to crust ratio is superbb A medium pepperoni or sausage pizza is about $20, in 6 slices, and normally, I'm crazy about pepperoni, but here, I'm crazy about their sausage. They're much more generous with the sausage as they cut it up in these thick and fat slices and just spread allll around. With pepperoni, I'm often confused because occasionally I get half pepperonis on my pies. Weirddd Their cheese is a thicker layer too (yay!) and I'd say overall, the pie is saltier (and the grease pools are deeper) than the other ones on the block, but I'm not complaining, because if your pizza isn't greasy, it's not good. 10 Piece Chicken Wings ($13ish): these are a little on the small side but I like how crispy they are! Pizza is okay at best. Kind of sad considering I had heard good things about this place. The cheese they use is very commercial and almost plasticky. Sauce is okay but nothing to write home about, Sercice was quick and prompt. They take credit cards on purchases over $10 and they also do the sausage rolls and specialty slices. Classic NY style pizza deep in the heart of Brooklyn. No pineapple or designer sushi toppings here. This place delivers classic pizza done extremely well. The crust, and it's all about the crust, is thin and crisp on the bottom, but not too crisp, not to bready, not too doughy. Singed just right on the bottom. The top of the crust has just enough of a doughy texture to be able to fold the wedge to eat without it cracking or tearing the crust. You had to pull just the right amount with your teeth to tear your bite of pizza off the slice. The crust to tomato sauce to cheese ratio was spot on and the cheese and sauce came off appropriately with the crust bite. The sauce want to thin and cheese want too gooey. Salt pepper oregano and chili flakes were all set out on each table, as it should be. Great job guys keeping real NY pizza alive! read more

Good place, good atmosphere, good pizza. It's not the best in the neighborhood, but they do have a very original sauce that keeps me coming back. The local cops seem to LOVE this place. N & D is about 20 feet from a competitor pizzeria. That is not common but often when that happens, there are benefits for diners. I noticed that they take credit cards. Many neighborhood pizzerias do not. They have a nice TV. Many other pizza places do not. They have the name of their restaurant and address on their customized pizza (take out) box. That is quite rare for NYC pizza places to not use a generic box. Also the man behind the counter was very nice to me. Sometimes that is not true in similar places. I also noticed that they open at 10 AM. Most others open at 11 AM. It is necessary to be extra competitive, to stay in business. I have noticed them and their nearby competitor for many years. They are doing what is necessary to keep diners happy. I had higher than usual expectations for their food and they were met. The pizza was four and half stars. It had a very good blend of cheese, oil and tomato sauce. The crust could have been a little bit more tasty but it was close to perfect. The price was only $15.00. But that is expected with intense competition. Had a good pizza and will be sure to return. read more

Unfortunately, some family members got what seemed like food poisoning a couple of random times. We liked this place so much, we kept hoping it was a fluke and continued to play Russian Roulette, hoping we were wrong about where the sickness came from. Then, the last time we ordered, maybe six months ago, my son got violently ill. He was sick for 3 days to the point I was about to take him to the hospital. He had only eaten from here so we definitely knew this time. Scared us so badly, we've never ordered from here again. I don't know what has changed about this spot, but it is a real shame and I haven't found a pie I line as much since. I take negative reviews very seriously as it can make or break small businesses, but the level of illness and the amount of times we got sick, made me feel like I should make it known. Great, solid pizza slice with a good balance of tangy sauce and cheese. The square is soft and chewy and the edge pieces have good caramelization. We have dined in and ordered delivery and both are great experiences. But let me tell you about the eggplant parmesan plate, it's absolutely the best! The eggplant is sliced paper thin and fried to a tender finish. They layer the eggplant with sauce to what seems like a hundred layers. They top it with sauce and cheese and bake it to bubbly perfection. You get a choice of a side of pasta or salad and bread. I suggest getting the side of salad because it seems like you get a bigger portion of the eggplant which is easily shareable for two. I don't look forward to eggplant Parmesan from any other pizzeria. They're chicken Parmesan is pretty good but the chicken can be tough sometimes. Before jumping on the Pizza Craze Bandwagon, "good" pizza was found at N & D Pizzeria. Forget the sit down type restaurant with waiter service, Pizza at N & D is ordered and served at the counter. Whether you choose to consumer the pizza at the counter, on a table, or standing outside is entirely up to the your preferences. I'll forgo the usual comments on decor and ambiance. The pizzeria has simple formica tables, chairs from the early 1970's, and an old school Coca Cola refrigerator. The establishment has six tables for parties of four. Each table is set up with a napkin holder, pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. The Food... Regular Slice: Expect zero decadency. The slice does exactly what it's supposed to. Basic pizza dough crust is topped with a hearty tomato sauce and finished off with the usual processed mozzarella cheese. Consumers might find this slice to be rather chewy (in almost a rubbery texture). But the flavors of the tomato sauce help dull out the textural contrast generated from the cheese. As with processed cheese, expect a lot of saturated fat derived from the excess oil. Drain before consuming. Fresh Mozzarella with Sliced Tomato: Suggestion to N & D, omit the sliced tomatoes! This unnecessary addition takes away from the subtlety of the Fresh Mozzarella. In addition, use less Fresh Mozzarella with thicker cuts. The excess amounts of Fresh Mozzarella becomes the main property of the pizza, thus taking away from the sauce and dough crust. Nevertheless, the Fresh Mozzarella provided a sweet contrast to the tart flavor of the tomato sauce. Eggplant Ricotta Slice: This IS the slice everyone comes to N & D for! The application starts with a layer of dough that's topped with a heavy coating of Tomato Sauce, Processed Mozzarella Cheese, Slices of Fried Eggplant, and Scoops of Process Ricotta Cheese. The dough used for this application is that of medium-thin, which is used to harness the abundance of ingredients in the application. The taste of the slice is simply remarkable! The creaminess of the ricotta works in harmony with the lightly fried eggplant. These ingredients work well in combination of the hearty tomato sauce. In a manner of comparison, the application is similar to that of an Eggplant Caponata. Each of the ingredients are portioned correctly to create a savory balance of flavors in the application. Needless to say... The $2.25 slice does exist. Granted, it's all the way in South Brooklyn. Nevertheless, great pizza sometimes requires little notoriety... except for those most frequent customers. read more

I walked in tonight (8/4) and placed an order here for a large half cheese/half pepperoni and a large pineapple and meat (NOT CRUSHED UP MEATBALLS). I watched carefully as he was making the pizza and noticed he didn't start yet, and I wanted to change it, but the man making it said he already made it and put it in the oven. I thought maybe my eyes deceived me, so I just left it as is. After the pizzas were pulled from the oven, I realized he had lied and he didn't put the pizza in before I requested the order change like he said he did. The price was also crazy expensive in comparison to other places out here especially because the dude cut up meatballs, which I specifically requested him not to, and paired it with old disgusting pineapple. Let's get one thing straight - my brain is made of pizza. Okay? I'm always in the mood to eat it and am not ashamed to admit that I once ate a whole pie by myself. And my hips are proof of that. Using two bounty paper towels, I managed to blot the pizza just enough to soak up 25% of the grease. And trust me - I can handle grease - when there isn't a bucket of it on top. I took a bite, and forced myself to swallow. It was incredibly salty, rubbery and had no flavor at all. The tomato sauce was awfully bland. What's their secret? Pureed cardboard? I don't know what N&D stands for, but growing up nearby it was always a Neighborhood Delight. I love this place. I don't even know where to start. They might have the best chicken rolls. I ate one at least once a week growing up. Get a side of marinara with it. I love their square slices, especially their specialty ones. Those bread crumb slices are fantastic. The grandma slice, chicken parm slice, eggplant slice are all great. The regular slices are pretty good too. The garlic knots are a bit greasy, but very solid. Keep that side of marinara from the chicken roll. It's a basic neighborhood spot. Don't expect something with amazing decor. The pizza they've been doing here since I was a kid, can go toe to toe with any other generic neighborhood pizza shop. If you find yourself going down Avenue U in Sheepshead Bay, stop on in and try some old school Brooklyn pizza. read more

After ordering the pizza, that's when they actually take an original slice and put the toppings on it before reheating it. This was a bit weird since normally they don't do that. This pizzeria is the real deal. As a Brooklyn native i can tell you there are very few places in the city that sell a real slice or pie of NYC pizza. It's delicious and super affordable. Their marinara sauce is so delicious that my mother, aunt and I tried to figure out their secret ingredients. I mean they should sell it by the jar!! I think their secret in everything they make is their fresh and authentic ingredients. I love their sauce and cheese soo much. My mother, aunt and daughter cannot pass by this location without indulging on a pie or anything we can get our hands on.
