I decided to swing by since I had a task in the area. I am glad I did. It looked rather plain from the outside and since it was in a very active strip mall area I was not sure how much was for this store. Wow. When I opened it all the gaming tables were full. There were boardgames and card games (i.e. Magic/Pokémon/etc...). On the other side was tables for miniatures to do battle! It took a few laps around looking at all the product to see what was there for sale. Good selection of games, minis, paints, game books, and cards. I'd have to say the cards probably make up the lion share but the game side is not small by any means. I was looking for some stuff and happened on to the employee who was doing inventory. He walked me over to what I was looking for. I was glad, wallet not so much! I just came to look! Honest! The energy is good in the store. The absolute worst service. I would never visit this store ever again. Purchased an item and someone had exchanged pieces inside the box. When I opened it right there in the store and showed them, the employee agreed it had been tampered with. Store manager said he wouldn't honor it and it was our problem now and he didn't want to be stuck with something he couldn't sell. I called company vendor and reported them. read more

Arguably the best card/game shop i've ever been to. They are always stocked with the latest products as well as having a good collection as some older stuff as well. Good environment and friendly/knowledgeable staff. They are also INCREDIBLY responsive on their Facebook page, answering most questions within an hour of being asked. Couldn't recommend them enough for Pokemon/Magic fans. (Also having looked at a review in regard to Pricing, many of this store's products are market priced, not retail priced, because that's simply the way stores in the TCG business have to operate. By the name, I assumed this place was reserved for dedicated tabletop players. "Mythic Games" gave a title of competitive nature & serious role culture. I feel absolutely foolish in my presumptions and (albeit internally expressed) "face value" bias. This place was an impromptu stop that turned out to be a wonderful find! We were leaving our set destination and stopped in merely to see if they would happen to have a game we were looking for. Oh, boy, DID they! This place has EVERYTHING for EVERY PERSON at EVERY LEVEL in the game night hierarchy. From the competitive; to the child; to the drunk acting like a child; to the casual fun! There were shelves upon shelves of entertainment opportunities. I'll divide this up simply since it all of it is 5-star worthy... CUSTOMER SERVICE When there, we were promptly, and pleasantly, greeted by the owner. She assisted in helping us find what we wanted (Codenames), gave a brief rundown of the store, and told us to always feel free to reach out with questions, suggestionss, or assistance. NOT related to us but just too adorable not to mention... As the pictures show, there's a lot of open table space to play. An intense game of something was happening. A father was playing while his young son was present. As the dad played his game...a staff member was with the child politely/patiently playing an instructed version of it. He was showing the child how to play the game at a pace & language they could follow! This, in addition to the muffled niceties of cordials "so & so can play with us" at one table. "It's okay if you sit here," at another. It was just a wonderful, positive atmosphere they have there and I feel it should be commended. PRODUCT As stated, it's vast. They have a lot of games to play and there's something for all! Additionally, they show staff picks but don't push you to one or the other. It's based on "you". BONUS At checkout, the owner stated that in the back they have shelves of open games. ALL are welcome to come in, grab a game, and play! You may try out games and see if you like them and feel they are a good fit for you. (...or just to have some fun!) I really loved this place and joy we got from it. Highly recommend. I've been here many times. At first, I thought it was an isolated issue. However, it's not. I come in here with my husband. We shop for board games, Pokémon cards, one piece cards (if they have any), D&D books and miniatures. I'm the Pokémon collector of the 2 of us. Every single time we have gone in over the last 2 years, my husband is approached quickly and in a friendly manner. I am completely ignored. Even as he is looking at games and I'm looking at cards. If I'm waiting behind someone to look at something behind glass or the counter, I'm ignored after the employee is done with the man (yes, it's always a male presenting person in front of me). I'm never asked if I need help with something or if I'm looking for something specific. In 2023, I would expect sexist and discriminatory employees to be a given. But it's not. This store is full of sexist employees. I cannot recommend this store. And I regret every single purchase I've made and my husband has made. (Which isn't a small number. We've purchased sets and boxes and games there.) To whoever owns this store, please train your employees to help everyone who comes in, regardless of gender. read more

Quality location for serious MTG fiends. Good selection of singles and rarely ever low on stock, staff is usually very kind and helpful.

Their selection of games is great, and their knowledge of the games is great as well. The only warning is if you purchase something and choose to return it, you cannot get your money back. Found this because I purchased a game and changed my mind for a more expensive version. They apparently follow the first Ferengi rule of acquisition that states "Once you have their money... you never give it back." Good store to find hard to find items, but I will avoid it unless I know I will never need to return anything. read more

I went to the Board Game Geek convention with my husband for six years yet... I wasn't prepared for Mythic Games. This place has an entire wall of games from the floor to the ceiling. The BGG library paled in comparison to this place and everything is organized in ways that make sense. Both times we've driven a half hour across town, we've gotten games that were out of print and nowhere to be found. (Uwe Rosenberg's Tea and Trade Fields of Arle expansion and the Ladies of Troyes just yesterday.) Game stores are often geared more towards the miniature community or the CCG world but somehow this place manages those as well as a bus load of euro games/ Ameritrash games/ heavy economic games... I mean it's truly a sight to see. The owners weren't there when we came by yesterday but my husband says they're very helpful and welcoming overall. They're happy to help people get the games that they're looking for. But even the rest of the staff was offering to call them and see if they had heard of a few games they didn't seen to have in stock. (Both games were out of print for a few years.. we've got too many games and always have at least a few we're looking for.) There's reserved parking for customers in front of the store parking lot and because of COViD I assume, they were both available. The employees and the customers were aware of personal space and safe practices while we were there which was refreshing seeing as my immune system is terrible and I can be a bit paranoid anymore about that kind of thing. We spent two hours there, not because of disorganization but due to the inventory... I'm telling you, it was overwhelming but in the best way possible. My husband and I are originally from Austin, Texas, where game stores are fairly common and some of the best stores were minutes away from us. While Colorado has plenty of game stores, we were yet to visit a store like Mythic Games. If you like board games, especially heavier games (plenty of party games as well!) that feel harder and harder to find, go here ASAP and try to keep from drooling. And we needed sleeves for cards of a few sizes, all of which they had plenty of as well as some nice draw bags. Lots of upgrade kits and expansions that you might be looking for. But there were some real gems there that we got in the past through trades online... I don't know if I've ever seen Al la carte in the retail setting, to give you an example, and it was quite the sight to see. PS. I'm a Lego person and next door there's a lego store that has spare parts you might be missing. It's great and worth checking out if you're into that kind of thing. read more

Black Gold is one of the best local game stores I've played at. It's large, well-lit, and clean, with lots of gaming tables. Their game selection is very good, and their trading card and card supply selection is great as well. There are always a lot of people playing at various events, and they always have enough people to have great tournaments every week. I've been going for about a year, and have found the customer base to be pretty friendly on the whole. I'd say it's a pretty welcoming place and a lot of players are there to have fun more than just win every game. The prices are fair, especially for tournament entry. The payouts are a bit top heavy, so if you win 3 or 4 rounds out of 4 at a Magic tournament you can win enough to support your next 3-4 entries. I like that quite a bit, because when I have a good night it really feels like you won something. The staff that works there is always at least helpful, and frequently quite nice! My preferred place to play Magic in the Denver area. read more

Sadly the shop isn't what it used to be. Outside the owner there's not much good to say anymore. The prices for sealed product are maybe the highest in the entire state. Booster boxes being sold at 115$ to 120$ when they can be bought online for 90$ literally anywhere. Sealed commander product for Ikoria were being sold at 55$ to 80$ during a time in covid where it was going to be difficult to get they jacked the prices up... and then Walmart sold all the commander decks for one flat rate of 42.99$. The prices on singles here are fair but nothing to write home about. I think the shop is neat but DO NOT buy sealed product of Magic The Gathering here as you are highly over paying. read more

I had been going to this store for many years until recently the employs became extremely disrespectful about helping me while I was in the store. they said they "have a lot of online order to get to and to write down my order so they can get to it later." then the store owners wife became very abrasive about the situation demanding I apologize for my behavior calling me toxic and sexist when I asked to speak to the owner ( her husband). I can't say I have ever been treated like this before from a local business. I hope they fix their staffs attitude towards customers. I'd hate to see Mythic games lose more customers because of a few bad employs taking out their frustrations on the patrons. I wanted to pre-order an item and I went in after failed attempts at calling the day before. Not a single greeting or welcome. While the stock and products available is not comparable, the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. When I finally got asked if I needed help and told the person what I wanted, another 'employee' sitting at a table unfocused on anything but his task pipes in with a comment about how the discount is gone. Mind you I would have gotten had they answered the phone on Sunday the 17th when called. But he didn't say hello just so you know we the discount ended yesterday I apologize. He was rude and short and not personable. I run a restaurant so customer service is well known to me. This place needs an overhaul on its ability to offer it. read more

With an amazing collection of MTG singles dating back to the OG sets this is the place to come seeking out those few random singles to set your deck apart and make it unique. This place is awesome, the staff are friendly and the people are nice enough. I have a much better experience here then when I go to "Denver central games", the employees there kick you out right when they have to close so even when your playing there on Friday nights. You have to do all your purchasing between rounds or before you start playing. At "black gold" you can stay for as long as you want, and they have such a bigger and better selection. So even when you win at "DCG" for Friday night magic you have to wait till next time their open because they won't let you buy anything after store hours. Plus they always give you dirty looks and probably talking behind your back after you leave. I recommend coming to black gold, just a much friendlier environment and kids come play magic there all the time. My boyfriend and I make the extra miles just to come to black gold, when "DCG" is much closer. But we like the environment better. Plus I love collecting foils, so when we asked for the foils at "DCG" they gave us a funny look again and asked us a second time what card we were looking for. So we repeated our self, we just wanted foils. They don't take care of their foils so their all curled up and spread all over in different boxes. But at black gold they take care of their foils. They are all sleeved and all in one box, so you don't have to go searching for them, and they were in amazing conduction. read more
