Great selection, I could spend all day in there. Sometimes things are even cheaper than on Amazon. Last time I went in I was asked if I wanted to donate a toy to a children's hospital- how can I say no to that. But what I didn't know is it tacked on an additional $25 to my $12 total. Oh well. Today I went in and got two books that were $7 and a box of pocky sticks, then I was asked about donating coffee to the troops with a big pitch about the beautiful gift basket it comes in- okay, I felt too guilty to say no- and my total was $36. Double what I thought it would be. What? What was I supposed to say. I paid my total disgruntled and left and from now on I will purchase on eBay or Amazon. There is never any information on what you're donating or the cost. My friend behind me also got roped into it and felt the same way as me. I already donate to a lot of charities and sometimes I just want a good deal on a used book or two without a guilt trip as I have a hard time saying no. Lately I have ended up losing money by shopping here for used books vs the competitors for new books. I don't mind donating but make it CLEAR about the cost. I had no idea that this place existed. We wandered in after lunch at Crisp & Green, directly across the parking lot. It's apparently a used book, vinyl album, movies galore, boxed TV show sets, Manga stuff, guitars, and games store, but they have a lot of new toys and new books, too. It's HUGE. I found a David Baldacci book in the clearance section, woohoo! I didn't have enough time to fully explore and absorb, so a return trip is in order. But I'm thrilled to find this place, because I am a voracious reader, and the cost of new books is crazy. I don't have to read them as soon as they come out, so I'm perfectly fine with used books :) And there's always the library if I MUST read a new book. Really fun store! read more

What a rrip off. I took 12 books, excellent condition, where read once. Great novels and paid an average of $20 per book. I had no idea what I would get. The clerk said you're getting either .90 cents in cash or 1.80 store credit. I almost passed out. Next time they're going to Arc or Goodwill. These guys should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Big business with lots of hostile new merchandise, almost all of the good stuff is used and sometimes it's priced well, other times it's priced so highly compared to the trade ins you bring in it doesn't make a difference whether or not you bring in anything to sell because they'll probably only offer you 5$ and change for the whole lot in total. Really not a great place to go if you've got a stick in your paycheck the size of mount Evan's and your want money to get lunch the next day. read more

I like this store for the selection of used books mostly and the price. However, the employees here really don't want to help you. I'm sure it's not every single one of them, but recently I wanted to get a price checked and for one reason or another not a single one of the 4 employees behind the counter could help me. The one at the cash register couldn't be bothered to just walk a few steps over to check the price on a scanner when I asked, claiming that they weren't "allowed to leave the cash register." So I stood at the "customer service" area, and waited while the other employees just looked my way and did nothing. After attempting to get a price on a single item turned out to be this much of a hassle for them, I decided 10 minutes was enough, and we left. read more

To give 2nd and Charles even one star is an exaggeration. I took in two boxes of fairly new, excellent condition hardcover books in one trip. On a second trip, I took in three boxes of a variety of books, also in very good condition. They offered me $3-something cash or $6-something store credit for each of those trips! -- for 5 boxes of books! I asked to take back the books they did not buy and was told there​ are no returns!! So basically I donated a ton of books to that store!! I should have just taken them to Goodwill! read more

Everyone is seriously hating on this 2nd & Charles location, however I had a blast finding Alice In Wonderland pillow cushions and notebooks!! Perhaps, it's the most "ghost town" of all 2nd & Charles locations I've been to. No existing customer service, other than the check out counter. I however, want my own peace and quietness while reading; without customer service always asking how my cat's doing, my shoes untied, or if my refrigerator is running? No seriously, this place always succeeds at surprising me at every visit! I was curious, yet excited to purchase a $5.00 mystery brown bag, filled with interesting reads. Nick was wowing at all the guitars and ukuleles displayed on the walls! The only major downside was a store credit that 2nd & Charles didn't honor, because it was past 90 days, I think. Unfortunately the hubby forgot to claim it a while back, but 2nd & Charles employees were still able to locate the credit in its system, but not issue a store credit card or something. Such an inconvenient ordeal. Also, my face mask got damaged, yet 2nd & Charles wouldn't offer me a new one and they were obviously uncomfortable having me around shopping without one. It did cut my visit quite short. read more

This is by far the worst 2NC I've ever been to - their vinyl section is embarrassing (unless if you're looking for 40 copies of every Barbra Streisand and Phoebe Snow record imaginable), they don't have any video games for current gen consoles, and they literally sell incense for $6 for 15 sticks!! Beyond this, I drove almost 20 miles to use my store credit here that I earned at the Lakewood store only to be told that "their systems don't talk" so I couldn't buy the literal one item I found to make my drive worthwhile. Avoid this place at all costs, weird vibes aplenty!! read more

Their system of buying our used cds is a rip off Very unclear from the beginning Usually when you get rid of your stuff it is not to buy some more getting dust in the basement. So their store credit is 3 times higher than cash ...and they cannot even tell you this before you bring your stuff. They want to see you in person for the offer as if email does not exist... You can find some decent stuff here in the way of vinyl and cds. The cost for new vinyl is crazily outrageous, and the used vinyl finds is spotty, sometimes you luck out, most of the time you don't. I have better luck purchasing stuff off Amazon, but not to say that any 2nd & Charles is iffy in that sense, but they do have a lot of good stuff.. it's the "hunt" that's worth it and it's a great place to kill an hour when you're waiting for mom to get out of her doctor's appointment. read more

My girlfriend and myself drove a long way from Parker to visit this 2nd & Charles store to see the selection of books they had due to there only being 4 of these stores in the entire state. We went today due to the President's Day "sale" they were having. Today they were having a "$5 off of a $25 dollar purchase or more" sale which we assumed would be automatically taken off of our purchase at the end of the sale. We left and checked our receipts and there was no $5 off. We went back inside to ask if we didn't receive a discount because of the types of books we bought and a female employee told us no. We sat there and waited for an answer to why there wasn't one and the employee clearly had no idea about any details of a sale. She asked her female manager from afar and the manager also answered from afar instead of approaching us and said "yeah we need a coupon. Without the coupon in the email there is no discount." Bottom line is it was my fault to not have checked the details of the sale, but I was disappointed and sort of shocked that the employees handled the interaction the way they did and didn't do anything to help us other then make us feel stupid. I really liked 2nd & Charles, but we will probably be buying our books elsewhere from now on. read more

I really wanted to like this place. All of the employees I interacted with were nice and the selection of new collectables was good. This is a good place to go if you are looking newer/used books which is the majority of the retail space, they have a ton of funko pop and other pop culture items. For collectible video games, there is a very decent selection of xbox/xbox 360 ps3/ps4 games and the case up front had a handful of NES/SNES games. Here are the issues I have for the Littleton locale, from a buying perspective the prices are very retail, there are no deals to be had here. You can expect to pay a premium for video games, comic books, or anything remotely collectible. The vinyl section sucked... I mean terrible. 80% of the vinyl are new, reprinted versions of previous albums. Fine. But the prices are ridiculous, $35-$45 for a single record. $50 - $90 for a newer collectible set. It looks like they may have bought vintage records at one time but these have been steadily phased out. If you appreciate vintage, go elsewhere, if you want to overpay for a reprinted 180g Nickelback pressing... you're at the right place. Oh, and they are a bagless store, fine, whatever. But they are more than happy to sell you an overpriced grocery bag and then upsell you in line on some sort of club they have when you just want to leave with your overpriced crap. From a selling perspective I was really disappointed. In general, don't ever expect to make money from selling, after seeing the retail prices I had asked what I could expect to receive on items that they would purchase and I was told ~30% of retail, which is what it is but at least a good barometer for consideration. You are allotted two of their bins for your stuff, they do a quick run through and pull out obvious rejections. Two hours later which wasn't terrible considering it used to take 3-4 weeks previously. The offer is the part that ticked me off the most. Prices were 5-10% of retail and their offer is all or nothing. I had asked about this previously as there was one particular item I was on the fence about selling and was told they would work with me. False. I would of settled on the offer but I wanted to pull out the one item as I was not going to accept the lowball, "nope... All or nothing." Can you ask a manager? "nope, all or nothing" So I took my stuff back. Adding insult to injury they don't allow you to leave the store with their precious re-purposed US Mail bins. I had to go back out, get my boxes and repack everything. Bottom line, 2nd and Charles is a glorified toy section of Target. My suggestion to you, the reader, buy/sell on ebay or amazon or even Walmart. read more

When compared to the other two stores in the area, this one is awful. As a comic buyer, I will get $40-50 worth at a time. Spent 20 minutes in line, only 3 people in this line as they had one cashier working who was doing her best. The other staff never stepped up to help her. I put my merchandise down and left. Also, they will have multiple prices on items and claim "oh those are not our stickers" when they are all over the store. The shop in Aurora? Fast, friendly and honors whatever price that they have on item. read more

I absolutely love this store. Best used book store I've ever been in. I can't speak for the music/movie departments of the store since I haven't really explored them but I was so surprised at the variety of books they offered, both used and new. They at least attempt to categorize/alphabetize the books here vs. many other places I've been to that sell used books. There's certainly room for improvement, but with how many books they have, I can only imagine it would take many, many hours to properly sort these books. I've saved a lot of money buying gently used copies here that I would have otherwise bought new. They seem to frequently run deals as well if you sign up for their texts. read more

Fun store with recycled books, videos, etc! Take some in to trade or get money or store credit! Found my book club book for $1.95 like brand new (Amazon for $18.00)! It's like a huge book store if the past except its books that have been very gently used! I can spend hours in here Edit: if selling items expect LOW compensation! Six fairly recent books (hardbacks) yielded $1.95 store credit---money in hand would have been less! I guess that's why you can buy some books at pretty low prices. read more

This location isn't as good as the one in Broomfield, aesthetically. I wish it was cozier and provided an environment that you want to stay and hang out a bit instead of the warehouse vibe. However, this bookstore is amazing. I love their book prices and the clearance section is amazing. read more

What a condescending group of people. They will recite their rules, when you explain to them they changed the rules, they repeat their rules to you in a belittling tone. They don't want to assist you. Their time to do inventory is not my problem that causes them to change the rules about their system. Tony needs additional training dealing with people. Have taken items here for trade in until recently. Walked in today and they say their buy back is closed at 5pm (and also "sorry" fwiw)I asked if the reduced buyback hours were because of Coronavirus and they said "that it's always been that way" (referring to the 5pm buyback closing). I can clearly recall taking things in for buyback at 7pm to 8pm at this exact location. While I typically am flexible about most things, lying to my face pisses me off. The "sorry" seemed kinda empty in the context of lying to my face like I wouldn't catch on. Last time I do business at this location. read more

A store full of varieties of things from videos, instruments, books, stationary, and so much more. I've never personally sold anything here but I think the concept is great. It's like thrift shopping but more upscale. Not everything is second owned here but a lot of their DVD's, games, books, and music is second owned but still in great condition. I recently bought most of the Big Bang Theory DVD collection here and with the used DVD's paid half of what I would pay brand new and the DVD's have no problem. They seem to have a higher standard of what they can take as second hand which is a great. read more

I was super sad when tradesmart/Hastings closed I Used to get the best bargain deals on movies,music, and books. Now with this place just opening I don't have to shop online for those weird off the wall things I like. The staff was amazingly sweet! The used cds and books are such a good deal (I always make sure to check what condition they're in before buying and luckily i was able to). I brought in a bunch of books to sell and when I came back to receive my credit there were several books they couldn't take for various reasons which were all understandable but one of the books was a three ring binder style cook book. They don't take those but that wasn't my issue. My issue was that when I received the book back half of the pages were removed from the book and placed in the box along with the other books. Also when I asked to borrow a box to take them back to my car they said no because people have been taking the boxes so I asked for a shopping bag and he said no. Like really? read more

Definitely not the best location I've been too. The Broomfield and Aurora locations are much better. I had an issue with their organization and pricing of their young adult book section. I know they have new books along with used but it seemed every used book I picked up was full retail price. This chain has "New Book" bookshelves but this location seemed to have mixed in their new books with the used books as well, which is confusing and disappointing. Almost every book I picked up was priced to full retail when it was clearly worn. Even a newish book that was clearly used and damaged was full price! A hardcover book that came out about 10 years that was obviously used was selling for full price retail too. *I check the same authors every time so I am somewhat familiar at what the pricing should be. They were higher here than at other locations. read more

I'm a librarian who had lots of books donated to our library. We were not able to use all of them, so I thought I'd take some to 2nd & Charles to get store credit to buy other delights for my middle school. I arrived at 9:00 (their website says that's when they open). Nope, they open at 10:00. The employee at the door told me they couldn't get Google to change it on the site. Huh? After wasting an hour of my work day, I came back to have a different employee tell me the website says 10:00. Nope, looked at the site again. It says 9:00. I left approximately 75 books with them. They said they wouldn't need them all in the store, and they'd have to send some to the warehouse for back stock, so I wouldn't receive as much credit. When I went back later, the amount of credit I received for 75 mostly new books was $8.30. Ugh, not impressed. read more

This place is a God-send! I go through 3-4 books a week and I'm in a couple of book clubs. I try to locate books on my wish list through a couple of different library systems, but when I can't find them, I can always find them here. Plus, they're prices on books are more than reasonable for the condition they're in, which is "like new". AND, I've been able to steadily trade books for store credit, so I rarely pay out of pocket. This place is truly my go-to for my guilty pleasure! read more

Don't sell your stuff here. They'll lie about when they'll contact you and take nearly a month to follow up. On top of that, by lying that they called you they can immediately convert your shit into store credit. What's worse is that they're not at all apologetic about being lousy at their job. read more

Every time I've visited, I've walked out with something new to read. I think their staff is friendly based on my experiences with them and the place is clean and very organized. read more

Just be careful about their "free magazine" offer, they send your credit card info to the magazine company automatically charging you in two months. I love stores like this. Used media stores are where I find some awesome things. I love the trade in system, as I will get new editions of books or movies, and it gives me somewhere to take my spares. This location is sub-pare... at best. Since they've opened, their used selection really hasn't changed. They have a much smaller selection than the other CO locations and never get any rotation. This doesn't seem to be a lack of trade-ins, though. I know they have lots of trade ins because they take a month to do buy backs. Which, in itself, is ridiculous. The staff says they have so much used stuff... but none of it seems to end up on the floor. My assumption is that the employees take their time and filter through at their leisure, doing personal shopping rather than working. When they do finish a buy back... the amount is pathetic. The store that formally was in this location was better in every way. I brought in 2 new release books and a newish popular movie on blu ray and got $5 trade in. It would have been $2 cash! I don't expect full value... but come on. That is pathetic. Overall, the flat irons and aurora locations are worth the drive to avoid this one. read more

I was sad when Tradesmart went out of business but was happy to see that it has been reborn as 2nd and Charles which, like Tradesmart before it, is a media mecca of books, movies, video games, comic books, toys and collectibles. Risen from the ashes of Tradesmart like a phoenix it is a more scaled-down version and the store is only about half the size and only has about half as much inventory as Tradesmart did. Gone are most of the collectible toys and action figures though they do still have them just not the selection they had before. What I don't like is that they group everything by "theme" so if you are looking for a specific brand like "Batman" for example, you have to wander the store to find the Batman display. I liked the layout of Tradesmart better because everything was located in their respective sections: Books, movies, games, toys, etc. The nice thing is you can still trade in your old media for store credit like Tradesmart which is helpful for getting rid of your unwanted stuff to help finance new purchases and they carry both new and used books, movies and music. While I am happy to see that Tradesmart did not go away completely, I'm not sure how they think it will do any better rebranded as a more condensed version of the same business model as Tradesmart before it which lasted only 4 years before it went out of business. We will see and I hope for the best. read more

2nd and Charles is a fun place to shop for books, harry potter stuff, and Zelda thing Its full with table and tables of harry potter merchandises forms fluffy socks and scarves to butter beer and decorations. It also includes all 7 books including fantastic beast and cursed child. they also stock up with Zelda stuff. They have the great games and comic books. They also have like stuffies and pictures. 2nd and Charles is a fun place to shop. read more

First time "customer" - will never go back. Brought in 2 large bags of less than 2 year old bestseller hardback books. All in good shape. Got my text, returned within their 24 hour rule. When I got there I was informed none of them "accepted". Why not tell me that in the text - then I could have picked the books up on my schedule. I dropped off a few things so they could do their appraisal. I was told it would take 2 weeks to process, as they were backed up. No worries there. When I finally got a text alerting me to come in and discuss their offer, I unfortunately couldn't make it in right away. When I did have time the following week, I was told my order had already been processed for store credit (much lower than I had thought they would offer). Basically, they can take as long as they need, but if if you don't go back within a day of receiving your text, they automatically give you store credit- without the courtesy of letting you know how much. After telling them that this policy was never explained to me, they pointed to the wall and said "our policy is on the wall". That wall was not in my peripheral vision of the counter in which my stuff was dropped off, and I never noticed it in the many times I've shopped there. The least they could do is alert the customers to their policy, and not assume customers understand it because it's on their wall. I'm upset at them for not being fully up front about their policy, and expecting me to notice it on their wall. I'm mad at myself for trusting them with my stuff. I feel ripped off and scammed. I don't recommend selling your stuff here. Proceed with caution. read more

This 2nd and Charles takes a lease a month to go through one box of items for trade, so beware. Also, I noticed two books they did not take came back damaged, as in the spines where broken and pages starting to fall out. Their rotation of items is extremely show and it seems they take their time placing new stuff on the floor. I can't recommend this location but the ones at Flatiron and Aurora are amazing. read more
