This time around, I ended up purchasing some Palo Santo. Jenny helped me out at the register and was such a sweetheart. She has such a sweet aura! Previously Engineers, these two have used their engineering minds to organize the books logically and online. We stopped in and chatted with Barry who was charming and helpful. During our conversation we kept thinking of other books to buy and it took him only moments to find them in his online database and locate them in his store. If you want a used book store that has gently used books, reasonably priced, in easy to find aisles, and a knowledgeable proprietor to help you find the rest, check out this place. This book store is dedicated to World War Two and and most other armed conflicts in human history. I was really excited about checking this place out but was disappointed with the experience. The man at the counter had very little to say to us when we walked in. The aisles, floors and stairs are close to being impassable with boxes and stacks of books. It's really cold in the building, uncomfortably so. I finally made a choice of a few books and checked out and the same man at the counter seemed bothered by my presence. He was never rude he just basically ignored me. I'm not sure I'd go back even though the topic they cater to is very interesting to me.

I called ahead to Barnes & Nobel, an employee answered the phone and had the book on hold for us. The parking lot is clean, easy and had lots of spaces. The employees were friendly and helpful but not annoying. The store was clean. It was like a fancy library with all the good books. Of course a kid needed the bathroom and they were clean and operable. So much better than the public library! The coffee shop was also clean I and looked at it wistfully... next time. Also the book was actually cheaper than on Amazon. Wow!

This Barnes & Noble has a nice big Starbucks attached (it's separate - so you have to purchase of leave B&N merchandise before going in) but it does make it nice to get a coffee and wander the bookstore. The one downside to this B&N is that a few months ago they rearranged a lot of the store to make room for games, Legos, movies, and a lot of non-book related things ... I called for over 2 weeks including the release date since the store is an hour away only to then be told I'd get an email when the book came in but it could be a week or two after its release. Seriously? Who wants to wait 1-2 weeks after a book you've already been waiting on gets released?! I ordered the book a month in advance. Never got that email, stopped calling, ordered the book the day before from Amazon and had it on my front porch the day it came out. Thanks for nothing Barnes and Noble. Also, you cost more.
