Barnes & Noble has plenty of books. Shocking, I know. The selection is excellent, and I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the DVD and vinyl record sections too. Every time I try and order a book to be on hold before it's released I never get a notification regarding its arrival. I called for over 2 weeks including the release date since the store is an hour away only to then be told I'd get an email when the book came in but it could be a week or two after its release. Seriously? Who wants to wait 1-2 weeks after a book you've already been waiting on gets released?! I ordered the book a month in advance. Never got that email, stopped calling, ordered the book the day before from Amazon and had it on my front porch the day it came out. Thanks for nothing Barnes and Noble. I remember the days at Barnes and Noble where there were comfy chairs all around. A Coffee section. I would linger in this bookstore for hours, and more often than not make a purchase or two. Now one cannot linger because almost all of the chairs/comfortable chairs have been removed, and the coffee shop gone. It just isn't cozy and welcoming anymore, and there is no feeling to it. I only go if I 'have to' look for a book but that is now rare. read more

I can't imagine giving a Barnes & Noble anything less than a 5 star. The staff are always so nice and helpful. This location in particular tends to have new manga releases so my boyfriend and I make the drive out to browse. The prices are what you would expect for books and toys and collectibles. Nice Barnes & Noble store, set up is good. Everybody was very helpful. They have a good selection of non book items as well. Toys, puzzles, art sets , different card games and such. I was able to use my $5 of 30 Bday coupon on top of my B & N membership discount. Was able to participate in their holiday book drive. I don't know what the deal is with this location, but the attitudes of the staff are horrendous. I've never had an issue like this at any other Barnes & Noble. And they do really weird stuff that isn't typical. For example, I normally go here for the Criterion Collection flash sales because I use my B&N membership to get an extra 10% off. I've done this since they started the flash sale. The clerk wouldn't process it and was acting so off about it. Like, I'm not mad about it, but she's over here treating me like I should be. Beyond that, people are barking at you for looking through books at, you know, a STORE FOR BOOKS! What am I supposed to do, know exactly what I want and only buy that thing? Go elsewhere folks. Hate that I have to give such a negative review, but feel it's appropriate. The employees were so sweet, but the red-haired manager was blatantly, unreasonably rude. An employee asked her to help her buy me a book to get delivered to my house, and not only was the manager rude to the sweet girl trying to help me, but she then proceeded to be rude to me by initially ignoring my simple, politely-asked question & then answering it two minutes later with an incredible amount of disdain & sass. It's a bummer for this store because when I got on here to make the review, I saw other negative reviews about this red-haired manager as well. I've been here four times in the last month and I really enjoy it. I live in Castle Rock so it is a little drive, but I really wanted the atmosphere of the book and coffee shop for studying for my finals. The Starbucks here is great - I asked for a newer drink one time and the barista didn't know what it was but gave it a go. Another time I asked for a completely modified drink based on calorie/macro needs and again the barista was totally accommodating and made me a great drink without even making a face about all of my modifications The bookstore itself is a typical Barnes & Noble, tons of books but with the addition of the games, puzzles and electronics section which I like as I love games. The couches and chairs outside of the coffee shop make this the perfect cozy spot for a warm drink and a good book. I only wish it were closer to me and open later! read more

I love this place and any locations really. You can't go wrong with books! This place sells more then just books. They've got great cards, games, and neat gift ideas for anyone. The places are always clean and the staffs are always nice. Sometimes staff can be unavailable because they are helping people. I have a book fetish and sometimes whenever I come here I always end up buying like $100 worth of books! Close to where I live, unfortunately. After walking all around the store, hardly saw any employees walking around to offer assistance if needed. Found what I wanted, and then went to wait in line. The woman behind the counter, when asked, was able to give me information on the teacher discount, which is 20%. She was going to let me fill the form out in front of her, but I suggested I move over so she could help other people. When I was done, both this woman, and the other cashier, completely ignored me and then told me to wait. Meanwhile, I had already waited in line! Apparently this location prefers women with like three children hanging off of them and multiple book purchases. If you are by yourself, you are not their preferred customer. I wasn't in a rush, but my time is just as important as anyone else's. Lame. This location has a HUGE area for Nook, with no employees staffing it. I honestly am surprised that this location is still in business. It was just like a huge coffee shop with terrible service. While I would like to shop at a bookstore that is close by, I prefer Tattered Cover, or Amazon, instead of this lame chain. read more

I decided to be a total Karen and go to a store deep in the suburbs to look for a technology book at this Barnes and Noble. Instead what did I find: 3 aisles of Bibles and Christian studies. 3/4 of an aisle dedicated to technology and tech learning. So instead I'll need to go to another Barnes and Noble where the smart people live to find my book or just use Amazon. I have always loved B&N and I understand they must cater to their local demographic but come on. Anyway end of my rant. If you love Christianity come here to get your Bibles but don't look for anything other than that. I'm sure this store gives LifeWay a run for their money. Where would I be without this Barnes & Noble?! I'd be missing out on my stress free moment that I love to take every once in while to treat myself to doing absolutely nothing except for find my new favorite book. Wondering around this store where there's a plethora of information, puts a smile on my face and spring in my step. Most of the time I shop here on the weekdays, so I'm sure someone might have a different opinion about walking around this store on a weekend. But, for me, it's a stress-free gift. They have a fairly good amount of seating near Starbucks, and it's funny because you could be sitting next to a table full of mom's planning their next trip to the zoo, or it could be someone that has their own "at home" business and is about to make a million dollar deal, or maybe someone is just cramming for their next big exam. Either way, it's interesting and adds entertainment while you sip on your Starbucks reading your next favorite book or magazine. read more

I was flabbergasted and disgusted at the left-wind politic propaganda that was being pushed out by B&N. The New Release books were 100% slanted to the left and there was no reason for change. Nice size bookstore but two significant issues for me: 1) Terrible music on both recent visits. I love opera, but it's not good for reading. 2) in the reading area I and 7 others were trying to relax and read our books. But at a table sat a young man and his paid tutor studying aloud for an SAT test (they were here on my last visit as well). How annoying! I could tell others reading were also annoyed. I was bummed they didn't carry Neil Gaiman's "Absolute Death," but I found other miscellaneous books from the author. I totally disagree with the aisles and aisles of totally confusing sections of books. I found a few good sections that were in good reach, but moreover not impressed by the set up. I loved the service. I saw how committed every associate was towards my visit. There was a worker in easy reach, I liked that. Dev was attempting to find the Gaiman book, offered to order it for me, God, just didn't want to go that route. But she was very attentive. During the Black Friday deal, 3 for $10 on Marvel comics. But I was bummed that the sign was teeny weeny and not applied for any of the manga or fiction. It's not very nice but we took advantage of the sale! read more

I came here on a mission for a book series specifically. Upon entry I immediately asked for help on where these books were and was directed accordingly. Once found, only hard back versions of all three in the series, I was wondering if paper back versions existed for a lesser cost. A nice young man pointed me in the right direction and indeed two out of three books came in paper back and saved ~$10. Woo Woo! I was helped by three or more people and all were super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Barnes & Noble has an excellent variety of books for all ages along with the normal book accompaniments, including a Starbucks. Customer service is top notch and will keep me coming back as long as they continue to treat me so wonderful. read more

I want to love the last generation of bookstores, I really do. This Barnes and Noble makes it close to impossible. I will admit that this review reflects my experiences during peak Christmas Shopping Season. That being said, if you work in retail IT IS YOUR JOB to be friendly and helpful no matter how busy you are, how stupid you think the question is, or how close it is to said holiday. The staff at this B&N was outright rude when we asked where we would find an author saying, "He can be found in about four different places and I'm helping a lot of people in front of you." SOOO sorry I disturbed your very important mission, madam, I AM JUST TRYING TO GIVE YOU MONEY! What the what?!?!? I'll be shopping on-line at amazon from now until eternity, thank you very much. Now THIS location . . . THIS location is the one I choose to go to, despite it being a few miles south of me, while the sub-par B&N is directly across the street. This location is HUGE. The Starbucks is INSIDE, though it is always particularly busy due to the high volume of the store. It doesn't help that the waiting area isn't sufficient for the large numbers of people usually waiting for their java, but I guess I should complain to Starbucks? It doesn't matter. I've only gotten Starbucks once, so it's lame of me to complain. The BOOK store itself is huge, with a venti . . . er HUGE . . . selection of books. Why they bother selling DVDs and CDs at the store confuses me. Actually, I never even bother with that area so I'm not even sure there is one. True, books are pricey these days, and most of the time I write down titles of books I find interesting and buy them from Amazon.com, but I know that I can count on this location to have what I want, or to reveal something I didn't know I wanted. In fact, that planner I mentioned in my review of the other B&N? Yep - they had it here. I was actually taken by surprise, as I didn't expect to find the same make and model - canvas exterior and all. The color choices were lame, but somehow I found that I'd overlooked the best color combination of all. When I asked the staff if they could check to see if there was a less worn version of the planner, they spent a good 5 minutes trying to help me. Sadly, the one in my hand was the last of that color combination. I bought it anyway, but was disturbed by the older man in line ahead of me, who started talking to the cashier and didn't stop when it was MY turn. It didn't help that he referred to the women of a certain CO university as "sluts", while a small child stood behind us. I gave the cashier one of those looks, a.k.a. "OMG Girl I'll get your manager" and loudly told her Thank You as I walked away. Fortunately the old perv caught my drift and told her Goodbye. Hell, I hope he didn't follow me home. This is a nice bookstore. Yes, it's your typical Barnes & Noble chain, but you can always count on it to have a good selection of each genre and is always fun to browse through. My husband and I come just to grab some books and read/skim them while enjoying a coffee. This Barnes & Noble has a nice big Starbucks attached (it's separate - so you have to purchase of leave B&N merchandise before going in) but it does make it nice to get a coffee and wander the bookstore. The one downside to this B&N is that a few months ago they rearranged a lot of the store to make room for games, Legos, movies, and a lot of non-book related things ... Kind of taking away from the whole enjoyment of a store just for books! read more

He talked to another employee (a woman, I didn't get her name) in a totally condescending manner, really rude to her for no good reason, and it was in front of other customers! Great selection of books! However, some things need help. We are having a baby and got some great books that we do not need. However, they will not allow us to return the books because we don't have a receipt and they could not or would not look up the person who gave the books to us. Now, we are stuck flying home with books that we don't need. Wait we have to pay for that too. Why can't they look up the book and just give back a supposed discount rate? I mean they had a sticker on the back that said they were from Barnes and Noble so it's not like they were purchased at Walmart or anything. read more

Helped by no one nor acknowledged. No one even bothered to look my way. If I wasn't an honest man, I would've walked out with a bunch of magazines and books. However, this is a Barnes & Noble. The store was clean at least and the magazine rack looked neatly organized. This might be the closest one to my home. I usually download my books but magazines, I love holding them when I read. I've purchased a book here on two separate occasions and have had no issues. I wish their rewards program didn't have an annual fee.

Store is always clean and planned out well. I usually only visit to peruse the bargain book section. Employees, though few and far between, are able to direct me to the correct area when I need something specific. One time I got a Giant Wings of Fire book for only three dollars that's cheap. On your birthday at Barnes and Nobles you get a free book and a free cupcake. Stopped in to buy a Search Engine Optimization book for our dental business because the other mall book store did not have a good selection. They had four different books on the subject and I bought two. It staff was very friendly and found a financial book that I have been looking for the past few weeks. Good selection of books and it looked like the wi-fi was working well, I forgot my Ipod touch so I could not say for sure. Parking is always tight because of the stores close by but we were able to find a place to park. The store also has a Starbucks so you can drink and read before you buy. read more

I have always enjoyed going to this store. I usually spend an hour or so browsing and I always find several books I have to have. Today, I was approached 4 times in 5 minutes by sales people asking if I needed anything, if I was still doing okay, etc. The cashier was snotty when I asked if corporate policy had changed. So, I left the book I was going to purchase with her. Manager confirmed that policy had changed. My daughter and her boyfriend were with me and reported that they had also been approached several times in about 10 minutes by sales staff. It was irritating. read more

I received a duplicate book for my birthday and had to ask my Mother in Law to send the receipt since I already had a copy. By the time I received the receipt in the mail and took it to B & N, it was past the 14 day period..... I'd never heard of the 14 day period! I had the actual receipt, I hadn't even cracked the book open, but couldn't even get a gift card to pick something out when I had more time! They said it was their policy, even with a receipt, to not accept any returns after the 14 day period. I won't be shopping at B & N ever again! What ever happened to customer service! read more

This is not really your "typical" B&N because there is (1) a separate children's book section and (2) a separate children's toy and game section. But the best thing about this location is the *huge* board games section, rivaling many stand-alone board game shops in terms of selection. There is also an in-house cafe. read more
