Nice little place that always has me walking around looking at the different options (especially the great selection of graphic novels) even if I only came in for a specific new release. It has a clean, organized vibe to it that doesn't always exist in "nerdy" places like this, which is really important to me. The worker is a pretty quiet guy unless you're a regular, but not to a degree that bothers me at all. He's happy to have a conversation about what you're picking out/looking for if you start one, but will otherwise sit there quietly while you look around, which can be nice when walking around a small place like that. Overall, it's a place I'm very happy to go back to for my (admittingly few) comic needs. I haven't joined the subscription service they offer but it seems like a solid deal that I will consider for future releases. read more

I've stopped by here a few times now. Average size comic book store with a lot of older stuff. I wish there was more non-superhero comics because that's what I read, but I understand that most people read superhero stuff so that's what's going to be in stock. And not just at this store but all of them. However, I didn't really like the experience of asking to order something from this place. Didn't really get the best customer service and I asked if I could get a phone call when my comic came in, and I received a flat "we don't do that." Response. Probably won't be back anytime soon honestly. read more

I hit this shop up while searching for back stock. It's your run mill average comic shop. I will say they had a decent selection of back stock (well organized), but from where I'm from the comic shops are dinky to non existence so it doesn't take much to appease my nerd lust. The prices for back stock where decent to a little high. I found some good issues for a decent price (cheaper then I could find On E-bay). Some key issues on the wall and in the cases though were WAY over priced though! The number one reason I didn't give this store a 4 star was the jerk employee behind the counter. The entire time I was in the store he acted like I had walked into his home and rudely began to finger through his personal collection of comics. He avoided all eye contact and had the salesmanship ability of a shut in. read more

Aamazing Fantasy has been around for years, over in the Southwest/Columbine portion of town. I first found it in late 1993 while I was delivering tortillas at the Safeway across the street. It's a quiet little store in a neighborhood strip mall. If memory serves me correct, Aamazing Fantasy has been in the strip longer than any other business in the little mall. Its staying power is quite impressive, in that regard. The store has a great new release rack. If you've missed the last few issues of a title, chances are you can find all of them sitting on the new release rack. I really like their policy of not pulling something off the "new" rack until it's 3 months old. Great for collectors who don't memorize shipping dates and like to actually SHOP at a comic book store. Too often in the modern era, it seems like a pre-order pull-list is essential to following a title. Nice to see a shop with a healthy selection of new releases. The back issue selection is kinda' skimpy, I've found. There are boxes of stuff...but nothing too impressive and no great deals. They have a few pricey key issues tacked up on the walls, but they almost seem obligatory. One thing that I've always liked about Aamazing Fantasy is the smell! it smells pulpy...like comics should. It doesn't smell dingy or gross, though. I'm not too fond of the employees, though. I walked in one day to browse and the guy behind the desk was blasting and singing along to crappy nu-metal tunes. That, sir, is why headphones were invented. Really made the shop seem like the "nerd ghetto" stereotype that hurts comic book stores. He also hit me with the "let me know if you need help finding anything" line several times within five minutes. Look, if I'm in your store and LOOKING at comics, I'm in the process of shopping, finding and selecting. You may think you're being helpful, but it really comes across as annoying or like: "you gonna' BUY something, buddy?!" I didn't care for that. Just a casual "hey, how's it going" would've worked. I felt like I had to buy something within five minutes, so he could get back to blasting SlipKnot tunes while browsing the Internet for racy pics of Lara Croft. Also, the store has hosted miniature and collectible card playing tournaments over the years. Yes, most stores do that, nowadays...but the game-playing tables were right in the middle of the store. On one occassion, I walked in to shop for comics while a tournament was going on. Full of folding chairs, kids and adults playing their little games. With maybe 5 feet for me to look at comics. Wow, was THAT awkward. I didn't buy anything, that day. Thus, I only go to Aamazing Fantasy if I'm REALLY hard up for some comic book shopping. It's a good functional store for new releases, but frustrates me because it could be so much better. read more

When it comes to comic book stores smaller is definitely better and few independently owned shops are better example then Aamazing Fantasy Comics in Littleton. The moment you enter this inconspicuous, little shop you'll know you've found a gem. First appearances and posters decorate the walls while the latest prints are displayed on shelves that almost run the entire length of the store and packed into every open space is a well sorted box of comics. At the front of the store are some card tables where some of Colorado's most sociable players can be found playing Magic in various casual and competitive formats. The owner even has his own 250 deck and when compared to the other games in town, Aamazing Fantasy Comics manages to keep things casual and enjoyable without losing the competitive spirit. There is no better venue for improving your skills and making friends. In a world where comic books are often lost in a sea of video game sequels and big budget, low quality movies the owner of Aamazing Fantasy Comics succeeds in making the media seem bigger then life itself. Okie dokie, we're going to look at Aamazing Fantasy Comics in three categories: selection, price, employee knowledge/helpfulness. Selection: Surprisingly deep for a strip-mall comic store. Not exhaustive by any means, but a solid selection and on more than one occasion I've been surprised by how many back issues of a series I could find here. Price: Definitely a winner in the cost category. Even if you decide to not sign up for their loyalty/comic reserve program, the issues here are well-priced. They routinely beat out Denver's resident comic behemoth, Mile High Comics. I've bought back issues here for cover price that would have sold for three times that at Mile High (unfortunately that's not an exaggeration). Employee knowledge/helpfulness: I've interacted with two folks, both of whom were friendly, helpful, and wiling to stop what they were doing to answer my questions. They didn't pressure me to join their loyalty/subscription service, which I consider a big sign of respect for their customers. TL,DR; Solid store with a surprisingly good selection, fair prices, and friendly employees. Definitely recommend this store. read more

Aamazing Fantasy Comics is exactly that--Aamazing! As soon as you walk into the store, your senses are pleasantly overwhelmed with dynamic comic covers and posters, the laughter and comraderie of fellow patrons, and the scent of history. Every time I'm there, I find something to catch my attention and make me smile. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. He takes the time to understand what I like before making a recommendation, as well as suggesting new and different titles I wouldn't have realized myself. His familiarity with the art and history of his products adds another level of entertainment and appreciation. He and the store have a very relaxed nature that encourages you to be comfortable with just being there. In this day and age of big chains and come-and-go businesses, you have to give a lot of credit to his 21+ year presence in this little shopping mall. It is a testament to his ability to provide excellent customer service and a broad range of merchandise. I'll make this short. Shawn knows his stuff, is incredibly accommodating, and his subscription service comes with 10% off *everything* I buy, including trade paperbacks. No, you won't find a huge selection of back issues at this store. So what? The point is that if you ask for something, you'll get an honest answer about how 'gettable' your item is and at what price. That's smart business, and it explains why Aamazing Fantasy Comics has been around since the late '80s. read more

I love this place. I went here every day after school on Wednesday until I moved. I would ride my bike down there and use my allowance to snag the next Walking Dead and East of West. However, the owner always seemed frantic and ready for me to leave. Although, it's my only problem. You need to check it out for the new releases, not classics. Very nice place, about 10 miles from my house but worth the drive. Cheaper back issues than Mile High Comics, but doesn't have the larger selection. The workers that I've seen are super nice and knowledgeable, they're always open to conversation whether it's about comics or not. Definitely enjoy going there. read more

Came into this shop today to check it out, came in with my fiancé and friends, our first visit to the shop, when we walked in we were not greeted and commenced to look around, my friend asked a worker about some magic cards and he smuggly gave him an answer and then went on to rudely comment that he shouldn't look through a deck because the way he was going through them was stupid. He made these kind of rude comments the whole time we were there, I finally had enough and had to walk out of the store because I have never heard a worker treat a customer so poorly. I will not be returning to this comic store, and I advise shoppers take their business elsewhere. read more

I've been to many comic book stores and this one seems like an average run of the mill store. The people seemed nice enough but I didn't really get they knew the comic book scene in order to make any recommendations. I asked about their subscription service and they charge for it which is unusual, and bag and board aren't included, so that's on your own dime. I'll probably give them another chance since there aren't many stores in this area. They do have extensive back issues and trades so that maybe is the store's strong suit. I need to look into their back issues and trades, see if I can find some good comics for good prices. Looking forward to visiting soon! read more

The kid that works there takes some patience, he acts like he knows comics.... i doubt he knows jughead... and that attitude takes some patience, most of us know the past 20-30 years of stories, i think he needs to realize that... we didn't just read the previews.....so patience it takes with this one, grasshopper young, he is...... padawan maybe, but not today, not yet ready for opinions to be valid or know story lines at all... truth, this is.... patience, you must use.....PS this review will self destruct when a helpful vote i get..... read more

Buy, don't browse. After a few visits without buying anything the owner (who is remarkably I'll - suited to deal with people) insinuated that because I hadn't bought anything in a while that I was stealing from him. I'm ok with surly, but I was treated as rudely as I'm willing to tolerate. There are so many better options within a few miles. Use them instead. read more

Great comic book shop that my kids and I enjoy on occasion. The owner is knowledgeable, but could be a tad more social - it's kind of awkward sometimes when he's just sitting there ignoring you and always looks as if he's had a bad day. But when you do get him talking, he knows a ton and can point you in the right direction for all your comic book needs. All in all, a cool shop that I recommend to my friends often. read more
