This visit I was on a mission as I saw they had posted the selling of comic ornaments. As previously posted I'm always on the lookout for Blade items and he is a rare find. So I'm told they can search for items on catalogs and every time i ask for the character no one has ever offered me that assist. As a comic and collectible connoisseur, this is one of those places that you just need to visit to understand what it means to find practically anything and everything that you didn't know you were looking for to begin with. This is a MUST STOP for anyone visiting Denver. If you are a comic fan you will be in HEAVEN and even if you aren't into comics it is just a fun place to walk around. It is almost like a museum with all of the amazing collectibles they have on display. They are an ally for the LGBTQ+ community which I'm a fan of. Love that they have long boxes filled with discounted books. One thing I didn't realize is that they have a back issues section, but if there is something you can't find you can go up to to one of the desks and ring the bell. Then one of the nice employees will look up the books you are searching for and tell you the grades and prices of what they have. I was throwing out obscure books and they had them! Then they would go in the back and retrieve the books which was so cool. They even have discount days which is neat. This place is great. It's a very large, warehouse sized building with a wide variety of comics, toys, and collectibles. Some folks have complained about the prices, but the collectible market prices/values change by the minute. You can't expect a store of this size to have everything 100% in step with current online prices. Look around, there are deals to be found. I found some great deals here. It was an enjoyable way for us to spend an hour or two. It's definitely worth checking out, if you're into this sort of thing. read more

The people were friendly and it is impressive when you walk in but their selection is not much better than other stores that are far easier to navigate. Additionally they are WAY overpriced, like comically (pun intended) overpriced. Books that I find in the dollar bin back home have a $40 sticker. And these are not immaculate, grade 9 books. Looked at some Spawn in the 40-90, all $20-60 dollars a piece. I can't understand how they price these books. Good selection of toys and action figures and they seemed much more reasonably priced. I can't wait to get back to my local store with a pricing system that makes sense. read more

DENVER - Growing up as a comics-reading Gen X kid in Ohio, Mike High Comics entranced me, with its ubiquitous ads in Marvel and DC books, listing items for sale in teeny tiny type, catalog-style. It must be the size of a warehouse, I thought. In fact, it is. Walk in, it's sensory overload with so much merch and memorabilia to gawk at. Prices for back issues are so-so. MHC tees are on back order (unless you wear 4 XL, which are plentifully available). But just as an experience, this place is amazing in its bigness. Like many others, I could spend many, many more hours here. As it is, I was here for 3 hours and barely scratched the surface during a recenr visit to Denver. It is easy to tell when you've arrived. It is in a lower end business kind of area, but the building is huge and it has enormous murals of comic books on the outside of it. You enter through a red door and enter Narnia... er, Mile High Comics. Not surprising, there are a lot of comics here. They have some that are out to look through yourself. What you see isn't even all of it. Below the rows and rows of long boxes chock full of issues are more boxes in the cabinets underneath. What are in those? I have no idea. Suffice to say, if you are hunting for issues, you've reached the place to look. Staff waa friendly and ensured we knew the special they were running (issues with certain colored price tags were 60% off of that price), plus they pointed out some lesser expensive bins and a few other things to note. I wandered around for an hour trying to hunt for specific issues. I couldn't find all of them, but when I couldn't fins them, I checked their site. If it waa on their site, I could ring a bell and get someone to look through the motherload of all comic backstocks to pull it for me. Their inventory is pretty spot on. If you aren't interested in comics, they have everything else as well. Action figures, plush toys, collectibles, pokemon, cards, games, figurines, the list goes on and on. In 3 hours, I walked through most of it quickly, but only saw about 20% of everything there. Now, some of the prices on books canbe pretty high. I need a few Silver Surfer issues to finish my run and all they have are Mint Condition versions and they want over $100 a pop for those. Unless they were signed by the real life Silver Surfer, herald to Galactus, they aren't worth that much. Pretty decent copies of them are a fraction online, so you have to do some searching. That being said, some of the expensive issues werw offset by the 60% off for having the right colored price tag. You won't be able to get those deals online and must visit in person. The check out was super fast and I paid a couple bucks to have them box up my issues so I could put them in my suitcase for travel. They arrived home safe and sound. This place is a mecca for all things Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, GI Joe, Star Trek, Monster, Power Ranger, Dragon Ball Z, and on and on. You need half a day to have a shot at looking through the majority of it. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. This place was on my bucket list and it did not disappoint. What a disappointment! Everything is INSANELY OVERPRICED! $15 books with $120 price tags. That's high even for 2021 pricing! CHECK ON EBAY BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING. You can buy a slabbed 9.8CGC for a cheaper price with shipping than they are selling raw. Everything is extremely unorganized as well. It's like being at a flee market sale with only the bad items left. The employees aren't experts by any means either. What is the point in having the worlds largest comic book store if it's filled with overpriced undesirables. The First word that came to mind when walking into this place was HOLY S&^#@% This place is absolutely MASSIVE. I'm not understating that at all. This is like Costco for Nerds! They have EVERYTHING. Comics,Funkos,Action Figures,statues. Honestly there is no limit to what they have. If you can't find what you like to collect here you won't find it anywhere. I particularly loved how they organized specific shows or comics into sections, I am a star trek/Star Wars fan and they had some AMAZING collectibles for sale I have never seen before. Pricing: As expected most things are priced at or around Ebay value, so i wouldn't say finding a deal is easy. I work with individuals who have developmental disabilities. We stopped in today with a group of 8 and we could immediately feel that the staff was bothered that we were there. At one point, we were standing in front of the display case looking around when an employee harshly approached us and told us that we needed to spread out. When we explained that we were looking at the items in the display case he replied "well do you need help?" And we said no, he then rudely said "oh, okay then." Very rude encounters here today. This is a fun and cool place to visit, regardless of if you're into comics or not; with that being said, I wouldn't recommend spending any money here: I've visited Mile High Comics several times these past couple of years ... and I've yet to have a single positive experience with their staff. Don't bother asking anyone a question, or for any assistance, because they'll just glare at you like you're bothering them and give you curt, lazy responses. For example ... I once asked an employee if they happened to have a trade paperback copy of "X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills" in stock. The employee glared at me like he didn't know what I was talking about (which I thought was a little ... odd for someone who worked in a comic book store) and just grumbled: "If we had it, it'd be back there..." Another time, I actually found a couple of things I wanted and went to check out ... only to find I'd brought the wrong credit card. I was so embarrassed and politely informed the employee who'd ringed me up that the purchase was going to have to be cancelled. Obviously, I wasn't expecting her to give them to me for free or let me go put them back myself ... but I also didn't expect her to roll her eyes at me and hiss "Whatever..." before walking away. I get it; working in customer service can be an absolute nightmare and everyone has their bad days ... but when I have that experience EVERY time I visit, I start to feel like they don't want my business and I need to go somewhere else... Everyone and their grandmother seems to have mentioned this, but everything in this store is ludicrously overpriced. I get that Mile High is a small business and likely can't afford to sell everything at Amazon rates ... but they are out of their minds if they think I'm gonna pay $40+ for something I can find for less than $20 from another comic seller on eBay... I wish I had more positive things to say. Chuck I hope your reading this. Comic books are were a huge part of my life. I remember those mile high ads back in the day. And I remember asking my grandfather to order me some books. They seemed to take forever to arrive. I remember asking my grandfather to call and he did. I sometimes wonder if my grandfather was talking to chuck. They told us the books are the on the way. They eventually arrived and it made my week. To have some fresh books and too escape for a little bit. Fast forward to 2020 and the world has changed. There's a news story about a garage sale in the Bronx that specializes in comic books. I decide to visit just to get out the house. I pick up a few books. I get home and start reading them, and instantly I forget how messed up the world is. I see one of those mile high ads in the one of the books I purchased. I head to there website and purchase a few books. Well the order took longer then expected, I ended up calling mile high to check the status of my order. Just like my grandfather did when I was kid. The person I spoke to told me there on the way. Super polite guy btw. So I waited and waited. Then I got the package. I have been having a rough time at work and covid is always in the back of my mind. That package of books made me forget all of that, even if just for a few moments. Nostalgia wise, coming here was like a pilgrimage. Growing up reading comics and seeing the Mile High Comics ads made me want to come visit the almost mythical comic shop of dreams. Well it is mythical because as far as comic shops, I would not actually be a regular customer here. The size is impressive but thats about it. Oh also the resident cat is the most charming being there. I asked one of the floor people the pricing on one of the books way up high on the wall, he basically told me to check the website. They have the lesser valued books in boxes throughout the store, some along the sidewall and some in the middle on tables. You have to use their rather outdated website to check the inventory and if you cant find one in those boxes on the floor you have to go to the counter and ring the bell for service. There was a Spiderman issue I was looking for that said they had it, so I rang the bell and the girl, so enthusiastically lol, offered to help. She said she can go pull it, but only if I'm buying it. I said I need to look at the condition first. Yadda yadda yadda she brings the book. Sure enough condition was not near mint and I walked away. I'm glad to have made the pilgrimage with my son, pulled a couple of books on my list, got to see some cool books in the display cases and saw the life size X-Wing (looks like its on its last legs), but that's the only time i'll ever go. read more

After visiting this place for the first time ever last week I gotta say it was a disaster. They had all of their key books in display cases catching a nice fiery tan from the fluorescent lights inside the cases. Sure the prices were outrageous but so was the way they stored their comics. Unbelievable that nonone in the store sees what I saw in these cases. Tons of great books faded beyond repair. It was just awful. When I entered the MHC address into Google Maps, it informed me that I only had 10 more minutes until it closed. I called them in a panic practically begging them to stay open for me. They told me it was no problem and to stop by! I'll have you know I took every extra effort to get there quickly. I understand that someone people want to get home and I didn't want to take advantage of them staying an extra few minutes due to my stupid time management skills. I got there and told them exactly what I needed. One guy helped me find it and I was in and out in about 5 minutes. NICEST people. BEST store. TONS of good shit there for a GREAT price.
