This fantasy-themed shop is huge and obviously THE place in Denver for costumes, games, and other novelties. Prices seemed quite reasonable, and I found a gift for a friend to take home! It's also extremely accessible: two floors, but there's a staircase AND a ramp to go down below (check out the awesome garden and castle themed mural as you travel down the ramp). Signage above the registers tells of upcoming events at the shop. What a whimsical place; something fun for everyone! read more

Cool little store we found walking around Denver. Nice selection of board games, but selection seems almost random. Service members very friendly. read more

So I came here on a friend's advice, though prior experience has taught me not to shop here as they never have what I'm looking for and i wasn't wrong once again. If you're looking for costume accessories like super hero pants not leggings. There is a difference that the employee who I was asking did not know the difference and i politely explained to her. And other accessories than this is not the place. There is a fantastic costuming store off colfax that has basically all your needs. read more

Very cute and magical store. It looks like how you would imagine a magic store in a movie to look. They have a really wide variety of things to buy here: costumes, dog costumes, magic tricks, toys, miniature kits, board games, Halloween decor, puzzles, D&D stuff. There is also an escape room in the basement that doubles as a gaming room. If there are any kids (or adults who are kids at heart) in your life, take them here. They will love it! read more

Fantastic Denver staple. They have a great game selection and plenty of dice and pieces to choose from. 10/10 would recommend stopping by!

I've been coming in this place for a long, long time. Decades. Going back to when they were in Cherry Creek area. I understand how it's work to keep everything updated on the website. But it's worth it. Now that they do not, I find it interesting that some of the staff there will bitch about Amazon and how it's had a horrible effect on the business. Or seem so impatient on the phone when I called to ask questions about what I used to be able to look up online. What's my option for shopping? I can call down and if they're busy, no one can go look for anything, I can come down and search around, and hopefully they have what I want. Or... If I know exactly what I want, I jump on Amazon, look it up and order it. And let me be clear: I really am not a fan of Amazon. I think they're the devil. I am more than willing to pay more for the convenience of local store stores, and I also like supporting local businesses. Wizard's Chest needs to figure out what it wants to be. I'd suggest bringing back the ability to look up items online, and failing that, make sure all the staff understands positive service for people who call up and ask questions. I'd be more than willing to pay a little more for the convenience of picking it up the same day. read more

Super fun super stocked Halloween and novelty store in a great location on South Broadway. Highly recommend for the super wide selection and friendly service. Great place to come and browse. This location has a huge selection of masks and costumes. Great unusual candies from all over the world. The employees are fun and playful as well. Great place to bring the kiddos. read more

What a wonderful store! I visit Denver once a year or so, and I wish I had known about this place sooner! Everyone in the store was super helpful. I loved how they had easter eggs set out for the kids to find to get little toys. The cost of some of the costume items were pricey, but happy to support a business like this. I wish I had a store like this in my area, there was a lot of fun things to see and do if I had more time to stay in the store. read more

As an avid TTRPG player, I've visited many gaming stores and this one is at or near the top of the list. The quantity of games and the variety of genres make this a must in the Denver area. They have a wide assortment of miniatures, paint and supplies, and terrain features for warhammer, D&D, and other TTRPGs. Their minis were maybe slightly overpriced, but thems the times. Everything is more expensive, and I have no problem supporting a rad gaming shop such as this. read more

HUGE selection of costumes and stage things on top floor. Basement floor was all games and neat game rooms you can use for your game night with friends. Lots of theme decor from all the realms! The store is a destination even to just go explore. My crew came away with a few things they couldn't find elsewhere. read more

Walking in the front door, I hear the lyrics to this song playing in my head (and in my head alone): "So you wanted to meet the wizard Let me tell you that you've come to the right place Shall I make you a frog or a lizard You should see the strained expression on your face If the way I come on is fright'ning That's the way I felt like coming on today Have you ever been kissed by lightning Let me tell you, that will make you go away" And yes, as you step inside, you are transported to another world. A world of dreams and imagination. So what are we talking about here? Magic and things that make magic real. Costumes are year-round and not just for Halloween. Masks, wigs, outfits for tall and small. Games, puzzles, cheese boards, and more. Hats, collectibles, and figurines galore. Lots of interactive stuff and interesting novelties. Stuffed animals, posters, and castles. Spiders, makeup, and roleplaying board games. Can't forget the trading card universe. There are a couple of fun levels to explore and the staff is friendly. read more

So my boyfriend and I went to the wizards chest the other day and he bought 6 packs of Pokémon cards for his mom.when we got to his moms house we discovered that the packs of cards were opened and then resealed to make them look unopended. And what was worse was that the packs of 10 cards now had 12 or 13 cards some of the packs duplicates. I mean what's more pathetic then them taking out cards they wanted was they can't count. I will never go there. read more

Regarding its status as a magical treasure chest, I was curious as to how it appeared on the inside. The sheer quantity of items on display astounded me. Toys, costumes, and magic supplies, as well as cosplay wigs, makeup, puppets, and stuffed animals, can be found on the second floor. Downstairs, you'll find a nerdy assortment of Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, and other collections, as well as a wide range of miniature statues. There's also a plethora of classic board games, puzzles, and even an escape room. The staff was friendly, informative, and eager to answer any queries I had. read more

Great store, lots of stuff, but they do not buy Pokémon cards contrary to what you may hear.

This is a great place to find something special for the wizard, gamer or costume lover. I took my son here and easily spent an hour wandering through 2 floors of goodies. They have a really neat selection of items from board games, detailed costumes, toys, gadgets and more. If you're looking for a family gift or someone hard to buy for this is worth a look! read more

The Wizards Chest is a costume shop that not only has about a bazillion different costumes for every occasion, it also has sci-fi and fantasy related games, toys, and pretty much everything else you could possibly desire for your fantasy gamer needs. I even saw two game rooms. I saw some banners that were hanging from the ceiling that said they have been in business since 1983! that some amazing old school goodness right there. Oh man!!! I really wished that I lived in Denver!! This place was like a adult's inner child's play store! LOL So as you have probably guessed, I am not local. I was just visiting family in Denver and we took a walk down broadway and stumbled upon this gem of a store! It had amazing outfits for your Halloween costume shopping. . .I mean seriously, they had adult sized costumes. . .LOL They had a Jack Skellington costume that was adult sized and I know that if we lived here, that the hubby would've been getting that costume to wear for Halloween. lol Honestly, this was the first adult sized Jack Skellington costume that I have seen and the quality was top notch!! They also had anime type costumes for cosplay. This place would be a hit for Comic Con attendees! The hubby and I were just walking around but we got greeted as soon as we walked in and we got asked multiple times if we needed help with anything. Great service! And as a adult, I can say that my inner child just wanted to stay and ooh and ahh at everything there. Yes things were a little on the expensive side but it would've been money well spent as the selection of things there were amazing! I hope to return there one day again. read more

The selection of costume and boardgames at the Wizards Chest is pretty good. I especially value the deals I get by purchasing games on the consignment shelfs and consigning my own boardgames that I no longer play. V always provides great customer service and is able to help me find what I need. She also helped me track down where I would be able to purchase online the Herb Witches expansion for the old style Quacks of Quedlinburg game, something that I had been struggling to find for months. The Order of the Wizard program provides some pretty nifty benefits as well. read more

I am obsessed with this store and have been for years. Their game selection is incredible and their costumes are awesome. I'm even more obsessed after working with Wyatt this week to build my Halloween costume. He's fun, hilarious, and knows his stuff. He came up with things I would never have thought of and I'm so grateful. Best Halloween ever!! read more

I adore this place. It has costume make up, tights, wigs, dnd stuff, puzzles, plushies, a game room. Beautiful store. Helpful employees

How have I not discovered this magical place sooner? Walking in I felt transported to all things spooky and honestly felt like a kid in a candy store. We were greeted by the fun witch display and cool looking chair, which you could take a picture sitting on. The staff were helpful and always present if you needed them. I wanted to try on some wigs and didn't have a hair piece so one of the sweet staff members gave me one. The main level is where you can find Halloween decorations, party must haves and loads of stuff for costumes. My favorite part was trying on the beautiful wigs and coming across the Harry Potter section. Love this place and the fact that it is accessible for all kinds of people. You can either walk down the stairs or travel down the beautifully muraled ramp. Downstairs is where the fun is at. There's board games, puzzles, movie themed games and so much more. Not to mention, there's a room made special for those who want to play a board game. That was certainly cool in my book. Overall, I don't think you could come here and not find this place awesome. Wizard's Chest is the coolest in my book! read more

Loved my experience here! Was immediately greeted and helped by Wyatt, dressed in a very creative "ash Wednesday" costume, who immediately heard my costume ideas and gave me a ton of ideas and inspiration. it was the boost I needed to make a unique Halloween idea come to life. This is where I go when I'm feeling the itch to buy a new jigsaw puzzle and want to do it in person rather than online. Decent selection downstairs, lately they've been stocking some more unusual ones featuring art by the likes of Gorey and Mucha. Appreciate that I can support a local business, too. Parking can be a bit rough, but no worse than anywhere else downtown and in my opinion it's worth it. read more

Tuesday nights have a really fun game night and I've gotten some great plushies from here. Good vibe and the staff is really friendly.

Amazing store. Went for the first time last week. Great selection, friendly service and awesome lay out as well.

This place is mystical and so cool! I came here to do some last minute Christmas shopping and they had such a great selection of gifts for all. There were so many fantastical board games, toys, books, trinkets, and costumes. I spend at least an hour and a half just browsing to see what they had to offer. Super unique place with a friendly staff. The Wizards Chest is definitely worth checking out. read more

The Wizards Chest is a must-see for everyone! There are toys, gifts, board games, game accessories, and costumes galore. The space is whimsical and is just plain fun to walk through! Employees are friendly and helpful. Downstairs in the game area, we were introduced to and purchased two recommendations based on their suggestions. I wish 4.5 stars were a thing, but 4 stars will just have to do. I am a little taken aback at how few reviews this neighborhood staple costume, game, and toy store has! Upon entry you are greeted with a somehow "cozy" superstore feeling of delight! You are surrounded by unique masks, toys, costumes, and general delights on the main floor - and in the basement you can find pretty much any board game you could possibly be looking for. We had already done some serious damage to our wallets at another toy store (see my other reviews) and decided to stop by this place anyway as we were in the area. The prices here are VERY fair, and you will find a lot of items you haven't seen elsewhere. (At least we did!) Why 4 stars? On a table upon entry you are asked to wear a mask (but not required to) and there is hand sanitizer and a bowl of masks on display. It's 2023 - the reason for those items, and the usefulness of those items against the reason for those items, have all been debunked. Let's move on, shall we? Can't wait to bring the kids back and hopefully start a tradition! read more

Don't buy costumes from here. They don't give you a comfortable place to try on stuff then insult you and treat you like a disgusting person saying you have skin diseases so that's why you can't return items. And I had the tag on it was never worn. Awful place. read more
