They had not seen anything shark related but I looked through anyway as suggested. Mostly what I saw was very commercial tie-in to media topics, games, movies and tv show characters. Nicely packaged and displayed. Moderate prices, but more than I would have paid back in the day for my kids' costumes. We were more of make it ourselves types. But this is what I see as common for parties and trick or treating these days so it's a viable option for common requests and one stop shopping. I will also mention that there are costumes grouped together for the very young set, kitties. ballerinas, cowboys and bunnies and the like. Most of it very scary adult costumes. There are 2 children's areas, more my style. In the toddler and preschool age group, there are a lot of Baby Shark options, from baby to daddy if you know the song. All the rage for the last year at preschools and daycares. The staff was very helpful though they ended up not having anything that I was thinking of getting though the place is stuffed with merchandise. I'm probably just not their target customer. There was a security component to their duties it seems as they were concerned about a customer in full costume following me. The register person said they weren't able to look it up that way. I asked if they were sure because I'd done it in the past. After an awkward convo, we didn't find my account. Again - not a huge deal. What really bothered me was the person immediately leaving the register to tell a coworker "that customer was so rude" which I overheard. Customer service can be an annoying job but not insulting customers within earshot is a bare minimum. Will be unfortunately shopping elsewhere as I now feel very uncomfortable in this store.

My granddaughter has it now after her Dad learned on it too, when he was young. Because of aging and vision loss, I no longer do much sewing, just the quick small repair using extra lights and magnification. That is what led me to Sewbo today as there are no more multi craft stores left near me. I prefer quality parts and local ownership so the loss of one chain was really no big deal. But the remaining fabric store, one of my long time favorites, does not carry the sort of thing I was looking for. It specializes in high-end classic fabrics and has a talented staff in more formal design and construction. It pains me to no longer be able to support that business which I had for nearly 50 years. Somewhere along in recent times, Sewbo opened quite close to me but in a rather obscure corner of a shopping center we use regularly for other things. For those confused by its address on Baseline, know that it is on the "back" (south side) of the Basemar shopping center, behind Dougs Diner but with its own parking accessed from 27th Way which connects 28th St to Broadway. You can turn into the store access from 27th Way next to the Core Yoga building. With the reserved parking spaces and before lunch, we had no trouble taking an empty space. Not only does the store carry many choices in contemporary fabrics, they carry lots of notions like zippers and threads. They also teach classes, even for children, which is a great summer project. I wish my granddaughter was here to take one. I found exactly the zipper I was looking for, their colors and lengths stock was expansive. The price was minimal though it appears to be high quality too. A staff member greeted us immediately upon entering and was so helpful in finding the exact type zipper I wanted.. I wish even more that I still was sewing regularly as it is so nice to have another comprehensive quality local source for projects.

There is so much still good about Boulder, no matter what you hear on media. And there is so much…read moremore than just the Pearl St Mall in "Downtown." There are restaurants on side streets crossing the Mall, There are restaurants and shops on streets that run parallel to Pearl. There are more places, east and west of the Mall on the further ends of Pearl. The Museum of Boulder is along Broadway a block from Pearl. There are a variety of city parking garages which are all free, all weekend. Use them, they access so many places. Even during the week, we find that the time saved in hunting around looking for a street space or a getting a ticket for overstaying your time paid, or paying way more than you need to prevent a ticket, it is cheaper and quicker to use a garage. There are hundreds of spaces in each garage. The two we use are never full. You only pay for the time you actually use and the first 15 minutes are free. I once made a quick pickup in a shop close to the 15th St Garage and the car was out in under 15 minutes, no charge at all. The garages are clean and no longer have any vagrants hanging around. They have elevators that work. Our other favorite is the Walnut and 10th St Garage, underneath the St Julien which has some reserved space on G1 for Valet Service of the hotel but the rest of both levels is for the public to use. The Boulder Theater is downtown as is E-Town's broadcast and concert space. There is a nightclub, the Velvet Elk, there is Poke at Pearl Poke, near Pearl but not on it, Pasta Jay is on West Pearl but not the Mall. The New Local, an arts seller and Spruce Confections are even further west on Pearl. Spruce has concerts on the patio on Sundays in the summer and Espresso! provides the Jazz. Food and drink is available, children and dogs welcome. Admittedly there are some vacancies right now, mostly towards the east and beyond the Mall itself. Some of those spaces are used for pop up stores such as King Arthur Baking which comes in winter to cover the holidays with products for gifts or for yourself. I found it very useful last winter. There are some unique shops there, for vinyl album collectors, Paradise Found and some local shops providing souvenir items.
