The events are well-coordinated and the hosts are always friendly, one even remembers me by name. The fellow magic patrons are generally friendly and generally less-competitive than you'll find at Enchanted Grounds or Wizard's Chest. (The events at this game store are usually stated as more about having fun than the competition.) I've always had fun here. All of these events have taken about as long as expected even though some start a little late due to demand. Sometimes events are coordinated online. When it comes to prizes, it's a pack-a-match win. You choose your won pack from current standard, in-universe set packs. Special events may have additional prizes. When it comes to cost/value for your money, they're better than at least half of the game stores I've played at for similar events. As far as the location, they're located along historic, downtown Golden. A lot of restaurants and shops up-and-down the street if you come early. Given when their events are usually timed, there's free ramp parking behind the store. This is my favorite game store I've ever played magic at out of a total of 9 between the areas of Longmont, Boulder, Golden, Littleton, Denver and Castle Rock.

Over the last five years I've been collecting and selling cards and accessories from high value…read morecards mostly Magic The Gathering to some sports cards as well. From Thornton and their more popular shops (if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it), to Greely even Sterling. Some of the more well known shops near the Denver metro area and Jefferson County. Covering man of these shops some will take advantage of buy backs by saying they will do a 60% on cards they need, however that never seems to be case as only one shop I know of will keep their percentage the same and have a listing of the Cards their looking for; that's about the one and only thing this shop does ethically. Always up for discovering new shops as my buddy and I have been wanting to open our own much of my merchandise has come from ordering directly at a percentage to the co-owner of our soon to be shop. I discovered The Hobby Source by pure luck. Looked on Google for shops near me and having a place near and around Washington Park The Hobby Source was this small little shop right near Evans and I-25. At that time you couldn't fit more than five people in that shop, but call it Intuition selling to this shop was one of the best moves I could have made for my love of collecting! They moved to their new shop on Broadway and Quincy. Finding this Gem of a shop is one of the best thing I have done with my hobby. From (I don't know if they want their names all over this) the two gentlemen one adept to Sports Cards and Memorabilia and the other who is adept to Pokemon, MTG and both having knowledge in many other not so popular cards games. From the first people you meet going into that store to one of the most down to Earth Owners. Come to think of it I don't think I have ever met one of the owners personally come out and introduce himself. He never did it in a way to brag, but in a sincere and thankful manner that I never experienced before! Everyone associated with The Hobby Source have been AMAZING and if I could leave them 10 star I would. Owner is super friendly and helpful. It's two floors of comics and collectibles, and we spent a good hour there exploring (great selection)! The basement is horror-themed and I would NOT wanna be trapped down there at night with the lights down low or off....very creepy! Lots of creative horrific decor from decaying skeletal figures to crazy clowns (the worst) to sofa chairs you'd think twice about sitting on. Every square inch is carefully thought out. Dollar comics and used graphic novels downstairs, found a couple Star Wars ones for $2-3 that we picked up for a friend's 10-year-old. Also available in the basement were whole packets of limited series sold together for convenience. These guys are here for the customer! Some clothing, pins, boots, Tshirts, lots of collectible toys! Be sure to visit Wolf the turtle in his terrarium next to the front desk. Highly recommend

Docs is amazing and patient…read more He helped me figure out how a Fourscore for the Nintendo would work and helped me figure out what the weird bootleg NES I had was. He made sure I knew to use a different plug than what came with it. I then asked what the "Nintendo Family Computer" was behind him. He then showed me an original famicom Nintendo Family Computer and explained how it's the upgraded version of (that) He then showed me the top loader American Nintendo that came out around the same time,looked similar. He then told me those need a different plug than they come with and that Japanese plugs work in American outlets, but they are higher voltage so can damage the Famicom (either one) Then he sold me two plugs because I needed them, for the future AV famicom. I would have bought the one he had but a customer was coming back for it from the bank. I don't have the pictures I took because I couldn't get help with my (potentially) bricked phone, because the Xfinity store I went to threw me out after berating their own employee who apparently had diabetes and said "don't help this guy, he has autism" because of my Autism Awareness Captain Crunch whistle. I am glad there are helpful stores like Doc's where they respect people.
