Docs is amazing and patient. He helped me figure out how a Fourscore for the Nintendo would work and helped me figure out what the weird bootleg NES I had was. He made sure I knew to use a different plug than what came with it. I then asked what the "Nintendo Family Computer" was behind him. He then showed me an original famicom Nintendo Family Computer and explained how it's the upgraded version of (that) He then showed me the top loader American Nintendo that came out around the same time,looked similar. He then told me those need a different plug than they come with and that Japanese plugs work in American outlets, but they are higher voltage so can damage the Famicom (either one) Then he sold me two plugs because I needed them, for the future AV famicom. I would have bought the one he had but a customer was coming back for it from the bank. I don't have the pictures I took because I couldn't get help with my (potentially) bricked phone, because the Xfinity store I went to threw me out after berating their own employee who apparently had diabetes and said "don't help this guy, he has autism" because of my Autism Awareness Captain Crunch whistle. * update* They replied back to me and defended their price by showing me recent sells on eBay to justify their price showing how one sold the other day for $110. This is how dishonest they are, that one for $110 was the one I purchased, it was their own eBay account but tried to play it off as it was a valid sale on eBay! ----------------------------------------------- Do your research ahead of time, this place will rob you blind! Dishonest and unethical! My kids are older now and want them to get into the NES like I did when I was a kid. Turns out I am missing a lot of stuff so found this place to check out. They have a large selection, they had a scope for the old NES zapper that I've never seen. So I asked about it, they said it's rare and they are asking $110 with a zapper, I asked why that price, they said that's what it's worth. Figured that was an honest answer. I search eBay and could not find one for sale so took their word for it and bought it. I went to a different shop to look for other games and asked how they get their values. They said to use PriceCharting.com, that's what they do. So I check it out to see what my $110 investment looks like and it's worth a whopping $37!!! I called them back today, asked them how they get their values thinking maybe there is a different way they do it, they could not answer me. So I asked them to look at pricecharting.com and they confirmed it shows as $37. So I asked for my money back and they said they do not offer refunds even after they rip someone off! So bottom line, if you do business here, research the item ahead of time, they are dishonest and will take all your money if you let them. First time here. My son and I couldn't find it on google as it kept showing the Lakewood location and we didn't want to drive that far. Then on my way somewhere else I saw it. So after my errand I decided to check it out and see whether it's a good place to buy game boy games which are what my son wanted. Turned out to be an excellent place. They had a nice selection of those games and the store clerk helped me pick out some games my son might like. After a mini shopping spree as a surprise for my son who wasn't feeling well, I decided to add cases for the games. Spent money I should have saved but to cheer my son up I'd do anything. And I liked that I was supporting a local business. Will be back. read more

I've been to Doc's Video Games quite a few times since they opened up. Most recently on a whim looking for an old Nintendo game I was craving to play again. PRO: While they have a large selection of games for every console under the sun, the old-school systems are their specialty. We're talking original Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintedo 64, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Sega Genesis, Game boy, and sooo much more! Gotta love the classics. CON: They take trades on games, dvds, and Blurays too. You may not get the best bang for your buck though. Sometimes it's best to sell your games on your own and then buy what you've got you're eye on. PRO: The staff is always quite helpful. I'm always a bit skeptical of old-school games and whether they both work and are the game they advertise to be. They'll throw the game in a demo system to reassure me. CON: My biggest drawback to Doc's Video Games is the pricing. During my visit I picked up a copy of Bubble Bobble for the original Nintendo. Since I wanted instant gratification, I spent approximately $30 after tax. Unfortunately, I know that I could pick up the game for about $20 after shipping on eBay. Bummer when you want instant gratification. I'm sure that I'll be back to Doc's Video Games to see what "new" old-school games they've got in. read more

What a gold mine for used DVDs and BluRays! Nowadays, Amazon and NetFlix want $3-$5 for older streaming rentals - but for that price I can score the DVD at Doc's for the same or less money - and own it - forever - without commercials. Doc's has a good movie selection at half the price of 2nd&Charles etal. I'm building out my Hollywood collection! Support Aurora's local businesses and check out Doc's first, before spending money at the bigger chains. They greet everyone who walks in the store, and will thank you for your visit when you leave whether you buy of not. read more

Oh no! I feel so bad I left a review for Doc's and then just realized I put it under the wrong location! So here is my review of this location on Iliff that is a really awesome place to go! I love this place!! I go there often with my honey and took my brother today. I love their large selections of movies and they have a great selection of old and new games and lots of machines and even an old arcade game. :) Its like childhood memory heaven! (except now you can play all this stuff as an adult without having to go to bed when mom says) I really like how friendly and helpful the employee's are. I've even witnessed one employee who remained calm and professional with a customer who was cussing and yelling because they don't do refunds. (It is posted literally EVERYWHERE in the store.) I felt so bad for the nice employee who did everything he could to make the customer happy, even tho the customer was irate and using foul language in front kids that were in the store. But I try and take all my friends there because I really love this location and want to see them succeed! I love this place and will continue to shop there and give them my business, and I'll be heading over soon to do some last minute Christmas shopping because I'd rather give this local place with great employee's my money than some corporation. read more

Horrible customer service! After picking up my pizza from the pizza place next door, food still in the closed pizza box, my seven-year-old son and I stopped to pick up a game from here. I headed to the back of the store with money in hand, looking to find where the Xbox 360 games were but I was stopped in my tracks by a very rude man. The man told me in very broken English that there was no food or drink allowed in the store. Even though the box was still closed and neither of us were eating or had eaten any yet, they insisted it did not matter the pizza was still in the box and made us leave! I'm glad I spent my money elsewhwere! I only support small businesses when they are friendly to the local customers. read more

Good selection, however this location only gets two stars from me because I purchased a nes game here and it didn't work, I took it back immediately and the guy cleaned it and it still didn't work. Not their fault but I'm upset because he wouldn't exchange it when I took it back again, I had the receipt and it was only a day later, I didn't even want my money back just a new game. All of my other games work in my nes so I'm not sure why this one didn't. He told me that there isn't much to a nes game and it must be my machine, he didn't have one hooked up to test it so no exchange. I use to like going here because they have nes games and I'm not a fan of GameStop, it's been a bummer because I won't go here anymore and am forced to go elsewhere. The staff were two guys in their forties, both educated on video games, both chill, EPIC experience. Everything is well priced the selection is over the top. The most abysmal service I have EVER received. Not only was this store not open when posted but the person working actually insulted me and my intelligence. I asked why I was receiving a dollar trade in when the item was selling for 18, I mentioned my experience at GameStop and he said I should trade my games in there full well knowing that they do not accept the trade in there, I truly hope his insults were worth this review. I have been shopping at ALL of there locations for years. The staff is very friendly and EXTREMELY knowledgeable of ALL systems. They have competitive prices. They ALWAYS greet you when you enter the store. My favorite aspect about any employee is how much they enjoy talking about games, past, present, and the prospect of what is to come in the future. I bring my kids here and they always have a smile on their face because the store employees interact with them. They might not always have what I am looking for, but I find that they will help you find what you need regardless. I will always prefer to do business with them versus any other retro-video game store. read more
