Nice quiet place for breakfast with great food and friendly service. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, making it a perfect spot if you want to enjoy a calm, easy morning meal without a lot of noise or rush. The menu has a lot of great options, so there's something for everyone. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly. The ingredients tasted fresh, the portions were satisfying, and the presentation was simple but done right. The staff was attentive and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed without hovering. It really felt like a place that cares about both the food and the customers. Overall, a great breakfast spot with quality food, great service, and a peaceful vibe.
My-Kitchen feels like a hidden gem I just discovered. I was craving a breakfast burrito and stumbled upon this spot on Yelp, and I'm so glad I did. The place was packed for a Wednesday morning, which immediately felt like a good sign. It's a small diner with cozy booth seating and welcoming vibes. I ordered the sausage breakfast burrito and subbed the country potatoes for hash browns. They offer homemade salsa and sour cream on the side, both of which were delicious. The burrito tasted clean and fresh; soft, fluffy eggs, fresh avocado, and no greasyness like you find at other spots. I really enjoyed it. Hubs ordered the Early Bird special and enjoyed his meal as well... along with a few bites of mine. I highly recommend checking out this small business. Cheers!
Brunch at My Kitchen was a bit of a mixed bag, so I'd give it about 3.5 stars. The caramel milkshake was creamy, but no taste of caramel. The crab cake benedict had nice flavor with a smooth hollandaise, but a bit too heavy for me. The Denver omelet was hearty and satisfying. I actually liked the white gravy sauce on top, it gave it an extra richness that worked well. Overall, cozy spot with potential, just not quite a full 4-star experience for me.
I came here with my husband once and saw the breakfast enchiladas. Ended up changing my mind. Came back and MANNNNNN I was beyond impressed! If you don't like spicy AT ALL this isn't the dish for you.
One weekend, my partner and I were feeling too lazy to make breakfast, so we decided to eat out instead. We originally planned to go to a different restaurant, but they were closed for remodeling. In a bit of a rush, I checked Yelp and found this place with an overall rating of four stars, which made us eager to give it a try. The place was clean, and overall a nice place for a meal. We decided to share a Waffle Egg Benedict, and it was absolutely delicious! Instead of the typical English muffins, the dish used a waffle as the base. One half of the waffle had a perfectly poached egg on top, which was wonderfully runny. Rich, creamy hollandaise sauce was drizzled over the egg--so tasty! The other half of the waffle was placed alongside seasoned country potatoes, which were exceptionally well-seasoned and the best I've ever had. I believe this dish might have been a special, as I can no longer find it on the regular menu on their website.
First of all, the service was amazing. The waitress was so patient, kind, and understanding with us because we were on a bit of a time crunch. Secondly, the food was ready so fast that I was actually stunned. Not only that, the food was ready in a crazy short time but they did not sacrifice quality for the sake of time which I really appreciate. We ordered the pancakes combo with bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. And then we also got a plate of chicken and waffles. To start, the fried chicken was so crispy and crunchy on the exterior and the inside was so juicy and moist and full of flavor. Im not personally a big fan of chicken as a protein but this was amazing and definitely almost made me change my opinion on chicken as a whole. Secondly, the waffles were so crisp yet soft, it was such a perfect delicate balance of texture that I really enjoyed. I'm also not a big fan of sausage because processed meats like salami and hot dogs usually scare me. BUT, the sausage was honestly super good it did change my mind on sausage as a whole. The scrambled eggs were so soft and fluffy and the flavor on its own, it really spoke for itself. I felt like it was a good example of when chefs let the ingredients speak for themselves. Because I usually will add pepper and hot sauce to my hash browns and eggs but it really did not need it. Everything was already super flavorful and well seasoned. It was amazing, I actually have no negative comments for the food whatsoever. The ambiance itself was just a simple diner vibe where everybody is chatty within their own groups and it's very, I wanna say comfortable and welcoming kind of vibe where it feels like people are friendly and just happy to be there. I absolutely adore the aesthetics of all the decorations on the wall, this restaurant definitely had a theme in mind and executed it well. I'm not sure how to describe it fully but it was very cool and definitely sparks a lot of good talking points. Overall, this is my second time here and I am happy to say I will be coming back here as well. This might be my new favorite breakfast diner
My fiancé has been wanting to try this place forever but I've been hesitant because of the negative reviews. Anddd they were right. We came in at 10:30am and were seated pretty quickly but then there was a line right after we sat. After being seated no one came by to take our order. Servers would walk by and we'd try to flag them down and they'd walk right by us. After 20 minutes, we finally went to the front to ask to order. Someone else also had to go ask. Tables that came after us got their orders taken quickly though. I dont know why our two tables were completely ignored. When the food came out, it was piping hot but it was just okay. I got an eggs benedict that was supposed to come with fruits and they didn't give me fruits. The hollandaise sauce was super sour. The hashbrown was crunchy though. Prices are on par with Bill's cafe, which imo is expensive, considering the nonexistent service. After we were done eating, we tried to flag someone down to pay. Again, no one would stop. I guess they didn't wanna be paid. I had to go to the front again to ask to be paid. If you're like us and have been hesitant to try My kitchen, don't do it.
My Kitchen was pretty full when we arrived. It wasn't clear if it was seat yourself or wait to be seated so we stood awkwardly at the front for a bit. There were two tables available that needed to be cleared and cleaned first. The menu is full with lots of popular options. We went with chicken friend steak and eggs, waffle Benedict, and Irish benefit. Coffee refills came but were a tad slow. But they were pretty busy. The dining area is a circle with booths all around. The food was good! We'll probably be back.

Great food. Pancakes were light and fluffy. Not chewy or rubbery. My only complaint is that the bottle of ketchup was not very clean. I look at the other tables and they were the same. No one wipes them down after customers use them.
Cute little breakfast spot. I've been here before but it was first time with my toddler. She liked her food and I loved my skillet. I would definitely get that again. The only thing what was not my favorite is the bathroom. You have to go down a hallway close the the kitchen. Other than that service was good and decent prices.
Met up with a friend for brunch. Luckily she recommended this spot. I love supporting local restaurants. Upon entering we were greeted and shown to a table. They were busy, but lucky for us we got these before the huge morning rush arrived. We were seated at a booth and provided with drinks right away. They have an extensive menu and I love that you can change your toast for pancakes. I ordered the veggie omelet but asked if they could make it a scramble and they did. I paired it with their potatoes and chose pancake as the option. My friend ordered the pancake combo. We enjoyed our drinks, coffee and fresh OJ while we waited. The dining room is not huge but they had plenty of space for you to not feel like everyone was part of your conversation. Plus they had booths which I love! The food came out and it was perfectly cooked, as some places tend to overcook scrambles. The pancakes was probably the best part, perfectly cooked, and fluffy. If you're looking for a local brunch spot I highly recommend them. I will be back for sure and perhaps become a regular.
Solid 3 1/2 stars for my first visit to My-Kitchen. I have a friend who has eaten there multiple times, and I joined her recently to check it out. Apparently, My-Kitchen either has new ownership or management and underwent a facelift. It looks nice and clean with 14 booths. Think family-owned diner open for breakfast and lunch from 7:30 am-2:00 pm. I don't know if they were short-staffed, but they only had one server while we were there and everything took a while (we didn't get our drinks until shortly before our food came out). My friend tried the breakfast enchiladas (3 corn tortillas, egg, chorizo, ranchera sauce, Jack cheese, & avocado) with home fries. She liked it. I opted for the Joe's Special (ground beef, spinach, egg, green onion, & mushrooms) with hashbrowns and pancakes. This was the first time I'd had Joe's special w/green onions vs yellow. I kind of liked the difference. The pancakes were good, and I really liked the crispy hashbrowns. It was better than I anticipated from looking at the previous restaurant's photos. I feel good about going back. Next time I'll try their chicken and waffles.

My favorite spot to lesson plan and grade! Enjoyed a very delicious and filling breakfast, then since they're open until 8pm Wednesday to Sunday, I stayed later and enjoyed this amazing "JOLIET" (Banana Piña Colada) Shake...sooo good!! A good start to a new beginning. I should preface this review by stating that I never went to this restaurant before. And reading the history of it, I learned that it has been sold to a new manager. So when it comes to how it was like in comparison, I cannot speak on that experience. But when I can talk about is the experience now, and it was a nice experience. Usually when I think of diners, I think of a nice communal area to get breakfast (not lunch, but breakfast most of the time). Heavy emphasis ok the community as when I walked in, there was a family returning from a long time, an out-of-state son returning home to celebrate his father's birthday, and couples just getting some food to eat. And the food was great! I think from a price perspective, everything was leaning towards $20, which sorta daunted me because nowadays, I want to make sure that $20 provided a good meal. And opting to get the country biscuits, I was not disappointed. The service size was good, the taste was excellent. The sausage patties was filled with flavor, the country gravy tasted really rich, and the biscuits were soft and sweet. I would say everything on the plate was great and delicious. A fun atmosphere with amazing food in a small corner of San Jose. A really nice gem of a diner. The pricing might seem daunting at first, but you'll be greeted with a nice moment for breakfast. read more

Service was impeccable. It was busy, there were 2 open tables when we walked in. As we were leaving, there were no open tables. This is a small and cozy restaurant. If you want good food, great service, and speedy service... come here! A wide variety on their menu. They serve breakfast all day. They are known for their pancakes, so I had to order a single al la carte. I wanted to try their Country Breakfast. My counterpart ordered their Big Breakfast. You can opt for roasted potatoes or hashbrowns and choice of toast. We waited about 10 minutes, maybe 11-12. The toast (we chose sourdough) came to us pre-buttered so if you don't want it buttered, pls let the server know prior. The Country Breakfast is a generous, delicious, and very comfortable meal. The country gravy is like icing on the cake. The omelet was cooked well, not under or overcooked. The roasted potatoes had a little bite to them but soft after you take your first bite. The pancake is huge! I am glad I did not order their short-stack or regular stack! The al la carte was plenty. I did not finish it. It is soft, fluffy, and light. FOOD: - Belgium Waffle: Pretty good waffle, but standard. 4/5. - Eggs Benedict (w/ham + hash browns): The eggs were a bit too wet, so it got soggy quick. The ham was also thick, which could be a good or bad thing depending on your liking. The hash browns were good though! 3.5/5. - Country Style Potatoes: A bit bland, but nicely cooked. 3.5/5. SERVICE: Everyone was very nice and kind of gave that southern hospitality! INSIDE: Very homey and decently clean. PARKING: Very easy parking since it's located in a plaza with plenty of space. 10/2024 update New owners. All the food was good before, and now it's even better!! Highly recommend Denver omelette and biscuits n gravy. The biscuits were so soft and fluffy. I ate half of my order for dinner and everything was still amazing. For all you die hard hash browns lovers, the country potatoes are super flavorful!! There has been a restaurant in this location since the late 70's. From what I recall it started with Alexi's which literally was there for decades. That finally closed a few years ago (probably due to retirement) and it became Sky Kitchen. That went away after a few years and then it became My Kitchen which has been there for maybe a year, but I'm not sure. My wife and I went to Alexi's quite often but that fell off when the ownership was changed. My wife decided to try out My Kitchen about a year ago on the days that I didn't work from home. She told me that she really enjoyed it and that I needed to go with her. Well, that finally happened last week. The restaurant is quite small but adequate. The decor is quite nice. I believe a lot of it came from the Sky Kitchen remodel. There are even some holdovers from the Alexi's era. For instance the Wi-Fi password sign is in the same location as it was back when it was Alexi's if I recall correctly. Anyway, the restaurant is clean and inviting...so is the staff. Today we were waited on by the owner, who, being an owner, I'm sure is there every day they are open. She was very pleasant, friendly, and efficient. They seemed to be a bit understaffed judging by the help wanted sign on the door but you'd never know. The food came out quickly and was plentiful. My wife went with her favorite dish, the waffle combo. She says that's the place to go for her waffle fix. I got the breakfast quesadilla with chorizo. The menu implies that toast comes with it so I put in my toast order. The owner pointed out that toast didn't come with it and I wouldn't need it anyway. She was right. This thing was HUGE. She said the tortilla is 19 inches in diameter. I could not finish it. It was my breakfast for the next day as well. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that the menu doesn't mention that eggs come inside the quesadilla. Like I said, I could be wrong but I looked a couple of times and I didn't see it. The reality is, of course eggs do come inside of it. The only thing I'd do differently is tell them to make the hash browns more crispy. Anyway, we totally enjoyed our breakfast and plan to make regular visits. In fact, we won't be the only regulars. We overheard one of the customers who was obviously a regular tell the owner that he'd see her tomorrow. That is loyalty! My wife also loves the Tiny Kitchen shows that they had on the TV. A cool small place that gives you old school diner vibes. Our server was amazing and chatted us up that made the whole experience feel more lively. I went here with two of my friends and we were impressed with our meals both portioning and quality to price. I got the chicken fried steak and was both crispy but buttery smooth. Highly recommend ordering it. Definitely a place to check out if you want to feel like you're living in the past with quality services and food. read more

Brought my Husband for a quick breakfast before an event for the first time. He got the egg benedict and really enjoyed them. Service is always friendly and by the time we ordered our breakfast the placed had filled up with people waiting. Love that they have regulars and know them by name. Still awesome! Where had this place been all my life??! I've lived less than a mile from this place for 6 years and never noticed it. I dropped by today (12/27/2021) because French toast cravings wait for no one, and plus this place looked family-owned so how can I not stop by? Very cozy and inviting atmosphere, from the employees to the owner to the decor. I also felt a sense of community when I saw local art pieces for sale on the wall. I like it when places do that. French toast!!! I ordered French toast (4 slices) that came with two side meats and two eggs. The golden brownness of the French toast made my eyes swell up with tears of joy. But even the two sausages were evenly golden browned. Most places (IHOP, I'm looking at you sternly) forgo side meats and warm them up willy nilly pumpkin dilly like silly billies, thinking we side lovers don't notice. Well we do notice, and it hurts. But I'm here to tell you My-Kitchen did it right. WARNING: mentally prepare yourself for photos of my French toast. I came here because I saw the pictures of the hash brown, and being a hash brown lover, I knew I had to try it. I arrived here on a Sunday at noon and was immediately seated. We were given the menu promptly and I decided to get the special crab cake with hash brown and asked to make it super crispy. The food overall was just okay. The hash brown was nowhere near crispy, more on the soggy side. The crab cakes weren't bad but it just wasn't my personal preference since it was filled with peppers and I'm not a big fan of them. My boyfriend got the country fried steak and he really liked it but he was also disappointed with the hash browns. Below average food quality, bottom in terms of food quantity. No service after the food was delivered. Average cleanliness. It looks like this place changed hands recently. I'm afraid the staff must be new to running a restaurant as well. I ordered a chicken apple sausage plate, you can see from the picture that the portion size is what you would normally receive in a kids plate, but for $18. Barely half a cup of fruit, the eggs were overcooked, and only a single sausage. Also ordered a side of pancakes Hawaiian style, but as you can see from the picture they didn't even put the pineapple and bananas inside the pancake to cook as you are supposed to do. From previous pictures from this place, they used to make them correctly. They also ran out of coconut. The pancake was made with the wrong type of flour, it was chewy and flavorless. Once the food was delivered we never saw the server again until the check showed up. Never had our waters refilled. Noticed they serve Tropicana out of a jar at the price of freshly squeeze orange juice. Can't imagine this place will last read more

Small lil family run breakfast diner. They make really good pancakes. Get the hot cakes while you can. Free banana pancake with yelp check-in. It gets poppin' early Sunday morning, so expect to wait. Tables just enough for parties of 4, but nothing more. Best if it's just 2 or less. The eggs look good. Got a breakfast burrito that was decent, but I'd prob go in again for the pancakes or something different. read more

I was super disappointed that Hayes Mansions dining room was closed. But as a yelper I searched for places to eat and found this place. It seems like a converted donut shop. The food was ok. The portions were just enough but rather mall for the price. The booths are SUPER SMALL. I do have to say I was impressed that they actually buttered the toast, not just a spot of butter like 98 percent of the other restaurants do. Overall it was an OK spot to eat wasn't crowded at all and the coffee was great. Oh the cheese omelet...doesn't really have cheese. It was very very hard to find lol read more

Had to come back a second time with my bf and we are not disappointed! As soon as we sat down our waitress remembered who we were and what we ordered! It's been a while since we last came and we were very shocked how they remembered us! I ordered breakfast sandwich with sausage patty, scrambled eggs, and hashbrown. My bf ordered chicken fried steak. Both food came out fast and we were not disappointed. My sandwich was not greasy, the melted cheese complimented all of the taste buds. My bf's chicken fried steak tasted so damn delicious! The gravy that was added on top reminded me of the biscuit and gravy we both got last time. As a local long time resident, this was our go to spot for breakfast growing up. Always the Denver omelet and hot chocolate. Then the Denver omelette changed. They added tomatoes and no cheese. The server would not allow substitutions. That's when I stopped going there. Now that is winter vacation, I wanted a low key breakfast. This place is beyond clean. There were two very fun and upbeat servers. I don't think I have seen anyone be that happy at work. They were passing out candy canes to the guests. I got the Denver omelette. No tomatoes. Added mushrooms. Then forgot it had no cheese. So I had them slap on some American cheese on top. Mimosa on the side. Couldn't eat all of the food. Large portions. read more

This is my first time going to My-Kitchen. When u walked into the restaurant I was greeted with a smile and a hello by one of the waitress. The restaurant was busy as well. There was only 2-3 tables open for seating left. I was told feel free to pick which one I wanted. After a moment sitting down I was greeted by a waitress to take my drink order, once she came right back she took my order. Throughout my meal the friendliness of all the employee's literally went above and beyond with a smile, being very friendly, constantly checking if I needed a refill of coffee or water. I found out during her trips to my table they were understaffed today. In addition it's Labor Day Weekend! Never once did I feel over looked as a paytron in this establishment! The waitresses even took the time to even engage in a few minutes of a conversation. As I went to the restroom to wash my hands before leaving I ran into the owner and had a wonderful conversation with her. I really felt I needed to bring it to her attention how greatful I was from the outstanding service, friendliness, from the employee's I received today. I had goosebumps and almost a tear of happiness as its so very very difficult to find nowadays anywhere. I truly recommend going to My-Kitchen They're known mostly for their breakfast. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with fries, and the smoke salmon with homemade potato salad. The homemade potato salad was delicious as its not mushy as most the potatoes had a touch of firmness in it which I find to be better. They have take out menu's as well as children menu's. There is a big parking lot in to park as well. The 1 and only thing is I wish the chicken sandwich had a little bit of some seasoning on the chicken. Other than that I have nothing whatsoever to even complain about. I'll definitely be looking forward to going back again.
