Dr. Kamena is a highly skilled optometrist, he zero'd in on and diagnosed an error in the prescription for my glasses that had been missed by three successive optometrists, resulting in a prescription that is providing much sharper vision for both my distance, and workspace prescriptions. The staff here is cordial an professional, it's a first-class operation all the way around imho. My prior optometrist is Stanford-trained, well regarded, experienced -- but after i complained about muscle strain with parallax and focus problems while driving at night, he STILL missed the issue in a re-exam. Since moving to California in 2010, I've tried different primary care doctors and a few specialists, never entirely comfortable with any. This is a huge exception in my healthcare orbit. I actually look forward to my annual appointments. Hard to believe. The staff is all very friendly, but the physicians in particular are a hoot, especially if you come in wearing a Stanford sweatshirt (overly proud Cal graduate practices here). It's a low pressure place to shop for glasses as well. I'm usually wary at shopping with an optician right at an eye practice, because you frequently pay heavily for the convenience, but I've found their prices quite reasonable (full disclosure: I'm a former LensCrafters employee). I came here because my fiancé goes here, and I see why now, because the staff are awesome and the doctor takes great care to make sure that everything is good with your prescription. I love the selection of frames, and I'm really very picky about that. I noticed they were seeing kids also, and the staff seemed really good with them. I got glasses and contact lenses, and I had to go back a couple of times to change the contact lens prescription, and the doctor and staff were really awesome about it. Just a personal pet peeve, having an appointment, arriving early or on time, and then having to wait. Customer service and professionalism is what you will find as soon as you walk in the door. 10/10 would recommend! My husband and I each completed our eye exams with Dr Jessop. She is super down to earth and a pleasure to chat with. Dr Jessop flagged that my current prescription is higher than what I needed. She also informed me my astigmatism improved, which I didn't know could happen. We ended up picking out new frames for sunglasses, regular glasses, while I also updated my current frames. Not only are they punctual for your appointment, their pricing for contacts and glasses is reasonable, including a huge selection and styles to choose from. I have been coming here for so many many years and specifically to see Dr. Kamena. He is so professional, knowledgeable in every aspect of eye care. I recently visited, and again, the best patient care. He examined my eyes, performed a few tests and did not like the results of the test, therefore, asked me to come back for another test in a week to be sure. Well I did and all good, as he said that would be the case. He provided me samples for contacts to try out for a week before ordering. After seeing Dr. Kamena, I always feel good that my eyes are in good care and know I am in good hands. I would not trade this place for eye care and highly recommend them.
