They have a lot of different frames to choose from, with lots of very unique styles and colors. They offer a lot of different options for lenses, as well, including some new ones I haven't seen before at other offices. The spacious frames display area kind of doubles as the lobby, which made it a fun and cozy place to wait, especially with antsy kids. The staff is super friendly and smiley. The doctor is great with little kids. She explained everything clearly and was understanding of all of our concerns. Her office uses newer technology to get readings. read more

I would've never found this place if it weren't for Yelp. At my child's last well-exam, it was noted that she needed glasses. I wanted to find a doctor who accepted my vision plan (Anthem Blue Cross), who is good with kids and specialized in eye growth. I went on their website, checked for availability and was able to schedule an appointment for the same week. Dr. Melissa was one of the best eye doctors I have seen. She took her time and performed a very thorough exam. Additionally, she was knowledgeable and was able to answer many of my questions. I liked her great bedside manner and how patient she was with my daughter. As for the office, it is located in a shopping center on a smaller (less busy) street. I have passed by several times and never noticed this practice. I found the office to be clean, inviting and modern. Also, they have a nice selection of frames and the staff is friendly. I arrived at Accuvision Optometry this morning and was greeted immediately by a team member. After going through several eyes screening by a very pleasant young lady, I finally was seen by Dr. Sidney Nguyen. She was very thorough with her exam, with questions regarding my health. She explained in details to me, as I am looking at pictures of my eyes on her computer screen, what is in my eyes and how healthy they are. Throughout the eye exam, Dr. Nguyen was very personable, sweet, yet very professional. She and her team made me feel very comfortable with their friendly service. When I was looking for the right pair of glasses, Phuong was very helpful with choosing and have me many choices to pick and try. She was very patient with me and i was able to pick the right pair of glasses for work. I feel very happy. I had such an amazing experience at this eye optometrist office, and I have to give a huge shoutout to Kathy. From the very first phone call, she was incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely helpful. When I arrived, she went above and beyond to help me find the right contacts, and she made the whole process so easy and stress-free. She even helped me lift my stroller up the stairs -- who does that anymore?! Kathy is truly a gem and such a bright spot in customer service. I also want to thank Inderpreet and the management team for being just as wonderful. Everyone here made me feel welcomed and taken care of. I called in to inquire about dry eye evaluation and treatment and was assured that I could be properly evaluated and given some treatment options. However, my experience was very disappointing. Upon arriving, I discovered that the clinic lacks the specialized equipment necessary for proper dry eye testing to determine the underlying cause of my condition. Dr. Li spent about 5 minutes quickly looking at my eyes, concluding I had moderate dry eye, and then another 5 minutes prescribing steroid eye drops. There was no real explanation provided as to why steroid drops were necessary, and the entire visit felt rushed. I left with no clear understanding of my condition or treatment options. To make matters worse, I was handed a bill that was higher than the amount I was quoted over the phone. Since I didn't receive any real treatment--just another prescription--I expected to be charged the initial quoted amount. When I asked about the additional charge, I was told that the doctor didn't specify why it was added. Given that I only spent about 10 minutes in total being evaluated, I can't imagine what a basic assessment would have entailed. In short, this practice is not equipped to handle dry eye evaluations or treatment, despite advertising that they do. If you're looking for dry eye care, I would not recommend this business. It felt like a complete waste of time and money. They might be fine for general eye exams, but they are definitely not qualified to handle more specialized issues like dry eye. read more

I find this clinic, very professional and staffed with courteous front office as well as techs. I have had early myopia treatment done for my kid and it was really explained very well. Plus, I do all my annual check ups here. I find them reasonably priced as well as willing to explain all the cost and options, rather than doing hard selling. I saw Dr. Li today and had the most thorough and well explained eye exam. She took the time to properly fit me for contacts which took some troubleshooting. She didn't rush through the appointment and I finally have a solution which doesn't involve different glasses for different tasks. No one tried to upsell me anything and the prices were reasonable. The doctor was nice - however I purchased my $800 glasses with my employee benefits. Once I got them back I tried to use them and felt nauseous every time I put them on. I kept going back and they would adjust the rims - and they kept telling me I would adjust to them. Went to Kaiser and looking for a new pair of sunglasses they confirmed the glasses I kept complaining about were over prescribed that was this week. Initially I left the office because the staff as mentioned were rude - not the front desk but a bunch of what seemed high school girls chatting and acting like you were putting them out if you walked in with a question. I sent an email to the doctor and no response. read more

After reading the great reviews of this optometrist office on Yelp - I decided to reach out them about their services. I called asking what they charged for a contact lens exam. I was asked if I was an existing patient and/or if I had vision insurance; I answered "no" to both. I was then told that a contact lens exam would cost between $70-$100 - depending on whether or not my prescription changes. Price seemed reasonable so I scheduled an exam for the following morning. I also purchased a voucher via Yelp that offered $75 of services for $50. Upon arriving for my exam - the receptionist went into great detail about what I could expect during my exam - and what the fees would be. Again - I was told that the exam would cost me $70-$100 depending. I was also told that there is usually a $59 fee for an "Optomap" - but this fee would be waived because I don't have insurance. Exam was typical - based on my past experience. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Dr. Michelsen even took a few extra minutes to show me the results of the various tests. During checkout - I was surprised to find that the bill was $278.00!! After various discounts and my $75 voucher - I was still asked to pay $133.50 out of pocket - which seemed far above and beyond what I was expecting to pay. I was in a hurry to get to another appointment - so I didn't question the bill and paid it. After getting home later that day - I took a closer look at the invoice to find that they billed me $149 for a "New Patient Routine Exam" fee. This $149 fee was NEVER disclosed to me - not when making my appointment - not when checking in for my appointment - NEVER! I've been wearing corrective lenses for 25 years and have been to many optometrists - none of which have ever charged such a fee. I called the office to inquire about the fee and ask if it was some sort of mistake. I was told that it was no mistake - and that this is a typical fee they bill those who don't have vision insurance. I then explained to them that this fee was never disclosed to me - and that I'd like them to refund this charge. The young lady told me she'd need to talk to the optometrist about the refund - and that she'd get back to me. Later that day - I received a return phone call from the office. I was told that they couldn't offer a refund for services already rendered. I explained again that this fee had never been disclosed to me - and that not disclosing any/all fees to their patients prior to treatment is poor business practice. I made it obvious that I was unhappy. Shortly after that phone call - Dr. Michelsen phoned me to discuss the situation. The Dr. began to explain everything that was involved in my exam in an attempt to justify the $149 fee. I explained to him that my complaint was not about the quality of the exam - but that I was never made aware of the additional fee. I told the Dr. that I wanted the $133.50 that I paid out of pocket refunded - he then began to bargain with me - getting the ultimate refund down to $88.50 - which seemed incredibly petty of him. Dr. Michelsen apologized several times about the situation - but I really question his sincerity. He seemed very disingenuous - and often tried to distract from the simple matter at hand. He and his office really handled this situation poorly. Needless to say - I will never be going back to a clinical office that operates in such unscrupulous billing practices. read more

My sister was the first from our family to come here.Our insurance was not covering our other optometry place in Livermore, so she picked this place.What a true BLESSING!! Dr.Amy Thich was so helpful.She was able to help my sister get better vision from her current contacts.She recommended her a different contact lens solution.My sister was so happy with her I decided to switch. Now here comes the BEST part: I have had HORRIBLE vision for years. I never got much help from contacts or glasses, even though I went 2x a year to my other Livermore optometrist. My vision just kept deteriorating fast!! When I got there she immediately diagnosed me with a condition known as Keratoconus.This condition deteriorates the cornea of your eye and may lead to blindness. Sadly, by the time I went to see her I was already legally blind in my left eye. This was beacause the previous optometrist in Livermore that I had gone to for the last 5yrs failed to diagnose me.She recommended me an excellent specialist that could perform the surgery needed to save what was left of my sight. I am now recouperating from surgery. So, YES!! I totally recommend her.To top it off, her and her staff are very friendly.She litterally saved my life because I dont know what I would've done if I went blind! read more

In an unusual twist of fate I did not Yelp an optometry group but selected Accuvision because they accept my insurance AND coordinate benefits. Just before I walked in to my appointment though I did check their reviews and was very happy to see they have a good rating. I was examined by Dr. Hur. She was very friendly and professional as she explained everything to me. It has been awhile since my last exam and so much has changed. I didn't need to have air blown in my eye for the glaucoma test but instead some eye drops and a close up view of the eye. Don't ask me the technical terms. For a minimal additional fee a picture was taken of each eye. Dr Hur showed me the pictures of the inside of my eyes including the veins, macula, and that damn floater that has been bothering me! That was really cool to see. I was able to select from several nice frames including Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, Ray Ban, Juicy Couture, Gucci, Guess, and many others to choose from. This is a small but efficient office. The staff is cheerful and did not seem harried which I've encountered at one of the other optometry groups in Livermore. A bonus is the use of new less invasive methods of examining my eyes. Finally. I have a new doctor I like and who coordinates my insurance benefits. Yes, 'Eye'll' be back! read more

The actual optometrist is the only one with any direction of customer service skills. The glasses fitter I believe her name is Desiree is extremely rude every time me or one of my family members have been in. The selection of glasses at this location is poor and the front desk staff is also pretty rude. I will be finding a new optometrist as this location never has frames that I'm interested in at time of visit and since I'm always treated rudely. If you come here plan on trying to be upsold like no other on frames, lenses, etc. regardless of how many times you say no- there will be pressure to say yes. read more

Love, love, love my new prescription! I think I've been getting the wrong prescription for many years and now, with the correct prescription, I feel like I can finally see! It's my 1st prescription with the progressive lenses and I haven't had any problems transitioning to the difference in the two. The only negative, and it just could be my insurance, was the cost. It was a bit high but that could also be due to the fact I received both progressive eyeglasses and sunglasses. Very pleased overall. read more

If it was not for a thorough exam and a great experience with the Ophthalmologist, it would be a 1 star review. I am 5 weeks into ordering my glasses and still I wait. The first issue was due to poor manufacturing, the second issue was due them not asking me where I wanted my bi-focals to be placed on the lenses. Literally they were 60% of the lenses. Felt like I was walking around with water in swim goggles, their response was, "try to get used to it". I ended up getting a krick in my neck, from walking around trying to look through the part of the lens for distance. They could have looked at my other pair of glasses to see where I was used to them, if they didn't just want to ask the customer. And they are very expensive. I have learned my lesson, next time I will go to Costco or Walmart. My advice, the Exam is great, buy your glasses some where else. read more

I recently visited them and had a delightful experience. Saw Dr. Joy. It was my first time wearing contact lenses and I was quite worried as had never worn contacts before. I didn't know how to use them, what solutions to use or why - there were a million questions on my mind. Dr. Joy trained me on wearing, removing and taking care of my contacts. I am so used to getting a rushed service just about anywhere that I thought it would be the same. Was trying too hard to be careful not to waste Dr. Joy's time, but she was more than accommodating, giving me plenty of time and attention, answering my questions. One thing I feel bad about is making Dr. Joy open the contact lens bottles which had sharp metal seals. She opened some 3-4 contact lenses bottles sealed with metal. Those metal seals were sharp and I didn't realize until I returned home and tried opening one of the last two bottles myself. Dr Joy was quite friendly. I was impressed not just by her but even the staff working here. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend them. read more

Update: went to appointment on Saturday. I was very satisfied with the service. Doctors were pleasant, knowledgable and very relaxed. I highly recommend!! Just dropped by to make an appointment. Staff was professional and pleasant. They were able to make set an appointment for Saturday afternoon. I do not have insurance which was no problem. The exam quote, including dilation, is below $100. Their frames did seem a little expensive but it's been several years since I last purchased new frames so they may be in the average zone price wise. (4 stars because I haven't actually had my exam yet. But I'm pretty sure they will get 5 stars from me after Saturday's appointment!) read more

About two months ago I got a BAD eye infection that got so severe I couldn't even open my eye. The pain was so bad I honestly thought I was going to go blind! I hadn't had an eye exam in over two years because I had such a bad experience with my previous eye doctor, so I definitely wasn't going to go back there. I started searching online and chose Accuvison Optometry because of their good yelp reviews. I was a little skeptical and didn't know what to expect at first, but after the doctor examined my eye and gave me some medicine, I started to feel more at ease. Dr Michelsen also had me come in for a couple more follow-up appointments during the week, just to make sure my eye was healing properly. Dr. Michelsen is extremely competent, knowledgeable, intelligent and she truly cares about her patients. As many people know, I do a LOT of research before choosing a service provider. It's very important to me that I find a combination of value and quality, and I'm very happy to report that I've found it here! My last Rx for my contacts had expired and I was way overdue for new contacts. I researched about 7 different optometrists in the area, reviewed their Yelp reviews, and ended up calling 3 of them. Some had higher prices, some seemed more willing to answer my myriad of questions... and I ask a TON of questions!!! At the end of the day I settled on AccuVision Optometry and worked with Dr. Joy Michelsen, and I'm VERY glad I did! Dr. Joy was incredibly attentive to my very unique Rx and wonky astigmatism. I love this place! Small enough to get personal attention (unlike those big cold places at the mall), yet large enough to offer everything you need including a huge assortment of contemporary eyeglass frame styles from all the major designers. I had a really difficult time finding contact lenses for my near and far sighted condition, and Dr. Joy was a magician finding the perfect fit. I now have 20/20 vision 24 hours a day! I am very pleased with the service I recieve from this practice. It is a joy to see a married couple run a practice with care and integrity. My first visit was 2 years ago and I have been a faithful customer since. I enjoy their technology which makes visists for my minis painless. The staff is gentle, caring and the compassionate. All 4 children in my household ages 6-10 feel very comfortable with their visits as well. My step-daughter, age 6, originally went to another Optometrist and her mother was not satisfied (Dela Cruz Optometrist in Milpitas). The practice closed down and left our girl with an rx that was not working for her. I contacted the insurance company for Dela Cruz Optometrist and he refused to return calls forcing us to pay for another visit out of pocket. Accuvision was helpful, provided an affordable out of pocket rate (I have filed for a reimbursement from my ins. co.) and took the time to select out a variety of frames with my 6 year old who is very picky about what she puts on. They were not pushy and were very patient, considering I had 3 other children with me who were not being seen and were well "acting their age." It took us about an hour to select the perfect frame for Mila. She expressed her concern that the "all plastic frames", that she had in the past, fall off of her face and are uncomfortable, however she enjoyed the more pricey guess plastic lenses because of the style of the frame. They searched and found a replica pair in a metal frame with the exact same design and nose buds which Mila really enjoyed. They respected the fact that this was important to her and did not rush or persuade her into any particular frame. I will be back soon for my husband and 7 year old's visits and I am sure they will be just as pleased. read more

I really felt that I got a detailed exam and was given time to ask questions. From the time I stepped into the door until the few days later when I left with my new glasses I felt like I was treated special from everyone that worked there. I have to say that I have never enjoyed going to any type of Dr. However, working with Dr. Joy has been great. I first called the office to get an appointment for my daughter who was visiting for 1 weeks and wanted to get contacts. So I called and got her in a few days after my daughter arrived. Dr Joy was wonderful with my daughter and even squeezed my step daughter in also that same day. My daughter contacts arrived very fast and she was able to take them home with her. My stepdaughters glasses also arrived very quickly. I have since been back to get contacts for myself. Now that's a bigger issue. Every contact I try doesn't seem to stabilize. Dr Joy has given me trial after trial trying to find the right fit. I thought I had found them recently but it doesn't seem to be so. The next step will be the Hybrid Contacts. But this whole way has been so easy. Dr Joy has been awesome with me and my troublesome eyes that are being stubborn with contacts. She is so patient with me.
