Used to be a Foothill Optometry customer. While I wasn't the biggest fan of Foothill Optometry (Extremely expensive, always needed an appointment for everything, wasn't nearly as easy as other Optometrist offices), I was very pleased with our Optometrist. She retired a few years ago and the company changed ownership. It's really gone downhill and we decided to go elsewhere. Customer service is bad, they won't assist you over the phone and it is still ridiculously expensive. Very happy with Imagine Optometry in Dublin if you are looking to leave also. read more

This place is horrible. Gave them too many chances. Our fault big lesson learned. Provided completely wrong prescription glasses. When we questioned them they assured the prescription was correct. 6 months later after looking thru wrong prescriptions and complaining frequently they confirmed they provided wrong prescription glasses. Then we set up an appointment for today afternoon and 2 hours before our appointment they canceled the appointment claiming doctor was sick not attempting to get another doctor to fill in. Then said no appointments till next year. BS unreliable! Not going back back. read more

I had a retinal detachment emergency on the Saturday before the Superbowl and Total Vision was the only optometry place in the area that would do an optomap on short notice (that's what the retinal specialist told me to do - get an optomap immediately and send it to him). I'm extremely grateful for Total Vision stepping up on short notice in an emergency to help me. Unfortunately, at the time, their staff was unable to give me a digital version of the optomap photos, so they just gave me a paper printout. Later, I called to talk to the manager Katie, who generously took the time to send me the digital optomap images, for which I'm most grateful. We were happy regular patrons of Foothill Optometric before Total Vision bought them, and stopped going there because the new ownership was not up to standard. Now, I'm very, very grateful for the service they gave me in this emergency and I'm also grateful for Katie taking the time to do things right. I very, very highly recommend them!! read more

Dr. Lily and staff are always warm, professional and efficient. From booking appointments to the actual in-office visits, the staff have been friendly, courteous, and responsive, whether I'm calling in or sending an email. Dr. Lily is exceptional. She takes the time to listen, explains things clearly, and makes sure I feel comfortable and well-informed about my eye health. How do you rate a doctor's office that sends a confirmation email to you with a time only to change your time last minute via voicemail? No confirmation from a patient that the change (up) in time by 20 minutes would be acceptable or would work with his/her schedule? Welp... folks of yelp... this is what happened at Total Vision. I have a confirmation via email stating 3:20. And arrived at 3:17...only to be told that no, the doctor does not have time to "do a complete exam." I asked them why there was no email or if they received confirmation that the change of time would be ok -- and got a response of "well we left a voicemail." Hate to say it. But unimpressed is how I felt. More than unimpressed -- and rather I cannot believe a doctor's office would do something like that. Let's think about this for a moment please if you will -- If one has a written confirmation of a time, would you assume that is your appointment time? Is it my mistake that I did not get a chance to review my voicemail messages (with two young kids -- school just starting -- and all the activities for them?) possibly. But let's take another step -- as a business establishment, a private practice if you will, would you accommodate the patient if there is a written confirmation and there is no record of actually speaking to the patient? The receptionist had NO empathy. And responded poorly. Total Vision, I highly recommend some empathy and understanding of certain situations. This was handled extremely terribly. I have been coming here for years. I seen this office extremely busy to barely anyone patient/customers in the office. So times have changed. I will not be coming back - I like the optometrist. I hope he works at a different location. The office is up charging the customers/ patients now. Telling me they have been bill wrong for years by someone who is NOT a biller and has no bill degree. Asking me to pay almost double from last year. I feel like I am being lied too. I complained about and asked to compare billing from last year. I was told as a curtesy they will lower the out of pocket expense... the girl who checked me in speaks loudly so the entire office can hear the conversation even if you are standing directly in front of her. They take care of you! Funny when you walk in it's quiet, but the hive is at work! Check in is easy with a short wait (if any) and they will leave you to peruse the frames or make an order. I was told 2 weeks but glad my frames were back sooner and I LOVE them!! I'll be back. =) read more

The Doctor Lily Nguyen, OD, was amazing and professional and I have enjoyed working with her through some very trying times in me vision journey. I like the way she talks me through everything and her manor is top notch. Once my exam was over, Katy helped me with my glasses/sun glasses. She was professional, nice, caring and kind. I appreciated her upbeat personality and it made me want to buy more. Not only did she do great work that day, but she followed up knowing I needed my glasses for an important event and gave me options to get them sooner. After a mishap happened with the mail being picked up probably due to weather or it be Valentines day, she called me let me know. from last several years, I am getting vision care From this facility. We really liked doctors . Frame selection used to be good which comes with one year warranty. Last year, new management took over this place. We still like the doctors & vision care. First they removed warranty unless I pay extra. Now this year, they gave appointment. Just before appointment, they told that somehow insurance company has delisted their practice. They assured us that they will cover everything what insurance covered last year. After going to office , we have given a form to sign in. The form says, I acknowledge that their practice is open access (which means not associated with any insurance) and I am responsible for any out-of network charges. I felt that the office staff gave misleading information. This is not good as per ethics. They didn't explain about the form what I am signing. Good that I read it and asked questions. Don't have complaints about vision care but didn't like these practices to book appointments and give half information . Sorry Foothill office .. i need to find someone else for my vision care. I went to get an Rx for contact lenses and had trouble using the first Rx. Went back and asked for a second try and still had problems seeing well. Asked the Dr. if there were other lenses I could try, and what had changed that I couldn't seem to get lenses that worked. I had been wearing contacts for many years, then had cataract surgery. I never got any more then an "uh-hum" from the Dr. Went to another optician for a second opinion and found I was not a good candidate for contacts after the cataract surgery. That opinion cost me $70. I payed way more than that at Total Vision, including expensive, useless contacts. read more

They lost my $1000 pair of glasses! This is a sad story. I got my pair from them but later figured out it didn't fit me very well. In October, they kindly agreed to redo my lenses. But after more than a month nobody contacted me. I went there check and they realized my frame was lost. They said they'd reorder but I haven't got my glasses yet. It's been more than two months. The manager said they can offer me 50% discount for my next pair. Their eye exam is pretty good so I still want to give them some credit. read more

This practice used to be a good one and we are their customers for over 15 years. But the things changed after ownership changed around 3 years ago. They charged me a new pair of glasses for over $850 but the frames last only last a few months. They refused to repair for it and ask to replace with a new frame for another $250. Although I am a long time customer but I have to switch for sure now. Be cautious if anyone want to try/continue with them. read more

Just to get new TRIAL contacts, it took almost 6 months which is just ridiculous. On top of that, I had to repeatedly call the clinic (they also barely picked up) to find out my trial contacts had been shipped weeks ago. When I went in to test the trials, I arrived on time but was asked to wait nearly an hour & after they finally called me, I was just told to take the trials home and schedule another appointment to discuss the results of the trials. I am a college student and am not in the area very often so I try to get as much done in one trip as I can. I've had several instances where they've been unresponsive. My in office experiences have been 90% of a wait and 10% of a rushed meeting with the doctor. I'm quite disappointed with how this group now operates. I've been coming here for 10 years + but I am now looking for a new optometry. read more

I have been going to Foothill optometric for the last 15 years. The couples who owned it, sold to Total Vision. I like the optometrist, service and glasses selection there. Their equipment is state of the art. I did notice that the prices were higher last year and that 1 year warranty coverage now required out of pocket payment. They explained that this was the package that they negotiated with the company they buy their glasses from. This month they are not in the VSP network anymore, but the prices of my glasses were cheaper. A google search shows that VSP tried to buy total vision and when rebuffed they removed them from the network. Avoid this place at all costs. Horrendous service. My optometrist, who doesn't sell glasses, gave me a few recommendations for glasses. I decided to try this place and omg was the service bad. 1. Nobody answers the phone. Averaged 12 calls before someone answered. 2. Lenses take 4-6 weeks or longer to get. I called 3 other optometry places and each one told me two weeks wait max. 3. Each time I called for status of order, they put me on hold for 15 minutes. Can someone tell me why it takes so long ito determine if glasses have arrived? 4. Their prices are higher than other places. What a mistake on my part. read more

I was happy customer of Foothill Optometry for last 7 years but not any more. With Total vision taking it over, this has become a worst Optometric one can visit to. We had to visit this place several times in last few months just to get accurate contact lens prescription for my teen age daughter as they made mistake and provided completely wrong prescription, my daughter could barely see anything and that's when we realized something is not right. It took them more than three months to get the order finalized. Most importantly, I exprienced absolutely horrible and extremely rude customer service (after calling them three times), when I called to cancel order for the contact lens within an hour after we placed the order. I have never received this kind of response from a customer rep in last 20 years. They just don't CARE. Certainly, this place has gone down the hill..so fast. Avoid this place at any cost ! Awful experience. Can't even follow instructions and no quality control - brought a kids prescription and they transposed the sphere wrong. We found out after 5 months in hospital ophthalmologist follow up and the damage to the developing eyes is done. They're gonna remake the lens but I would have to spend another 60 mins in the shop when the lens are ready, to cut and re-fit the lens to the old frame. I asked if I can just get a new frame they said no - come on it's a kids plastic frame. They were like they were already doing me a favor because they agreed to remake the lens. Frustrated. The doctors here are fine. This review is for the clinic's payment only. After the exam, it took 25+ minutes to get the payment done. I agreed with the bill and it is a simple credit card payment. This is unbelievable. Also remember to ask for a copy of your prescription. Otherwise, you have to wait for it in the mail. There is no online system where you can look up your account and no prescription will be emailed to you either. read more

They have a good selection of glasses. However there services are not as good as they used to be. I missed DeDe I think that was her name. She was so helpful and I always got the same add ons to all my glasses. I got there but since DeFe left the new girl that helped me didn't add on the scratch deterrent and they got two scratches on them and they couldn't do anything for me. They should have made sure I had all the add ons I typically get. I believe I told her I wanted all the add ons. The girl that helped me was not very helpful in giving me feed back. read more

I told the Optician I wanted to use EyeMed insurance which had a $120 frame allowance but would pay out of pocket for lenses (no coverage). She told me I could buy frames and contacts but couldn't pay for lenses out of pocket. I said that makes no sense - what good are eyeglasses without lenses? And no one would wear empty frames with contacts. I asked her to call insurance and she said no - that I could go call and they'd explain it to me. I went to the parking lot and called - of course EyeMed said YES I had frame allowance and YES I could pay for lenses out of pocket. No problem! I asked if they'd explain to the Optician before the call ended but Rep said they were Member line and the Optician would need to call Provider line. I returned and told the Receptionist that EyeMed confirmed I could purchase lenses out of pocket for the frames and use my $120 frame allowance. She said she'd let the Optician know and to take a seat. I wanted 10-12 minutes and nobody returned to talk to me. I was just sitting there! My husband contacted another Optometrist's office to ask if they'd give us a multi-pair discount, since I'd used my other optical insurance there the day before. They said of course! Yes! Please come in! so we left Foothill Optometric Group (no one ever came back out to work with us!) and we purchased eyewear elsewhere. That other optometrist's 20% off frame and lenses saved us more than the $120 EyeMed frame allowance, so we got great customer service and saved more money. I showed up and the Internet was out and was not able to see any additional selection and not able to complete an order. Complete waste of time. I was limited to the selection on hand- which was limited at best in the brand I wanted. No attempt was made to let me know in advance and potentially reschedule- clearly the phones still worked. On top of that- I had called multiple times to make this appointment. None of my calls were ever picked up. This place took a downfall when it changed ownership. Used to love this place when Dr Liu and Dr Longacre owned it. Dr Yang is still there and although he's great, the technician named Jennifer that assisted my 19 year old today took advantage of him. I left to go use the restroom and after returning they were finishing up and my son paid with his ATM since he didn't see me around. I later looked at his bill and noticed it was almost $200, I called to ask about additional fees for UV anti glare and why they didn't use both my dual coverage to offset the charge. She told me that my son chose to not use the remaining insurance and save it in case he wanted to come back for another pair of glasses. First of all my son didn't choose for a second pair of glasses and he wouldn't be back for a second pair of glasses before end of the year because he's leaving for college in SoCal and would be back until Christmas. I asked her to cancel the additional fees and she told me the fees are non refundable but that she would cancel the anti-glare. Which made no sense because if you're able to cancel the service why can't you refund my money? I then told her we wouldn't be getting a second pair of glasses and asked her to adjust the bill to use my dual coverage and she said she couldn't without getting her manager but then said her manager wasn't available. This is just shady and I told her I've been with this practice for over 10 years and have never experienced anything like this. Impressed. I needed to order sunglasses and my insurance covers some of that cost. Unlike so many other optometric groups, Foothill Opt, was able to help me quickly and NOT increase the price based on how much my insurance covered. I understand that there is a usually a price difference with / without insurance but it should not be based on the amount covered. I can't tell you how many different optometric groups I called and would adjust the price of the sunglasses 30-40% once they determined how much my insurance plan covered. I worked with someone named Sugi who made it super easy and painless. She understood exactly what I wanted, and kept me updated throughout the process. A+ highly recommend. read more

I had been going to the predecessor businesss (Foothill Optometry) for over 10 years - they used to be wonderful - excellent customer service, the same staff for years, and always very polite, caring and professional. However, after the ownership changed, so did the experience. Customer service has gotten worse (staff have been rude to me), and there seem to be different staff members every time I go. As an example - whenever I ordered new prescription glasses with the predecessor (Foothill Optometry), I used to get a brand-new pair with the branded case. For a recent order with Total Vision, they seemed to have passed off a display set of glasses as new and gave me a generic case. When I called them on it, the customer service rep got angry at me, and rather than owning up to it, made an excuse. I am not going back - I am looking for another place for my annual eye exam and prescription eye glasses. read more

I bought an eyeglass for my son, and we made sure with them that the new glasses would have similar properties such as shape and lens size and was helped by a staff member. When we came to pick it up, the lenses were twice as thick, despite there being a negligible change in the prescription. We asked them if we could return it, and we were told that it was a final sale, which is significant difference to the last owner. On top of that, there is no longer 1 year of guarantee after buying the glasses. If we wanted to fix the lenses, we were told to upgrade to high index lenses, which cannot even guarantee that our issue will be fixed. We completely agree with another reviewer who said that this office acts like it has nothing to lose. We don't want to waste another pair of glasses so we will start looking for other offices that will help us better. We are a family of 4, and have been with this office for more than 10 years, and we have decided that it is time to move on. read more
