Brian took the time to truly listen, collaborate, and iterate with me instead of dismissing the problem. He measured everything twice, consulted directly with the lab, and helped to fine-tune the lenses based on function: everyday use and occasional cycling. The final result turned out amazing -- super clear, wide field of view, and comfortable at every angle. Alisha was outstanding as well. She squeezed me into her busy season schedule and efficiently solved my dry eye and high-astigmatism issues with a comfortable daily contact Iens. I would not recommend this office at all. My son and I had our glasses made here, and both of us are having issues with the vision and quality of the materials. I have had glasses for over 35 years and have seen a number of local optometrists in Pleasanton, and feel like this was overall hands-down the worst experience I've ever had. They nickel and dime simple adjustments, and the quality of my glasses are the worst I've had. I can only assume they use a low end lab to make the glasses and pocket most of the cost. We have since moved to another optometrist in San Ramon and the prescription was accurate (the doctor said their prescription was wrong) and the customer service is outstanding. And my son now has a better set of glasses and great vision, and an experienced optometrist that knows what he's doing. Avoid this place seriously, zero stars. read more

I wish I could give less than one star. Had a horrible experience. The staff is very rude including the main doctor. Before placing the order I was checking if the rimless glass size can be reduced by the lab, so I asked the staff to check if any option while placing the order. She rudely refused, then I requested to check with the doctor just in case. To my surprise the doctor was much ruder than the staff. Anyways I placed the order and was told it would take a maximum of 3 weeks. In the third week, on a Wednesday I called to check the status and I was told it should come by the Friday and they would ask the lab to expedite it. Fast forward Monday, I called and another female staffer answered and provided status that they don't have any update in the system and might take another couple of weeks. I reminded them that I had a call with another staffer last week and was told on track and they also said would request to expedite delivery, to my surprise I was told there isn't anything mentioned by anyone on the order. I was rudely told that I have to wait for two weeks for the order. I asked them to check with the lab, if the glasses can be delivered by Wednesday it's good else I will cancel the order. The staff in a rude attitude said she will be happy to cancel the order right away.! I asked her to cancel it immediately and appreciated her rude behavior. Dr. Chan answered all of my questions, provided excellent explanations for what she was doing, and was easy to understand for those of us who know nothing about eyes and eye health. Rave all around. I love this place. They answer their phones and the staff at every position generally give wonderful service. Dr. Chan is approachable and an effective communicator who works efficiently without making you feel rushed. I also appreciated Brian at the frames and lens desk. He knew all the details, accurately, about my insurance coverage and other lens options and provided helpful fashion/practical advice regarding frame choice. Really enjoyed my exam and the Dr was top notch. I did find glasses that were awesome. Definitely pricey but my insurance covered part. All the staff were respectful. I just ended up needing my prescription while traveling and called at 4pm and was able to get it taken care of (there is a lesson about bringing a spare our when on travel but we won't talk about that). I have used Dr Chen several times. The first time she had glasses made for me the lenses were remade twice. This time my lenses have been remade 3 times and are still not correct. I had a severe dry eye condition and Dr. Chan was able to help alleviate it so that I feel more comfortable. I have wretched eyesight. Ridiculously bad. I also depend on my eyesight for my career. I've been looking for a good optometrist in the bay area for a while. One that knew my situation and respected my somewhat unique situation. I haven't had any truly bad service, but nothing special enough to warrant repeat business. Until now. I went to my first visit with Dr. Chan and was immediately offered something to drink and made to feel comfortable by her staff. Dr. Chan took the time to explain my eyes in a way no previous doctor has. I didn't feel rushed or blown off. She told me what to watch for in the future as far as any possible complications. Then, she helped me pick out goggles for burning man and was the first doc to suggest daily wear contacts. They have seriously changed how I wear contacts! I don't know why no previous doctor suggested such for my lifestyle. They are perfect! She really considers the individual patient. Lastly, she and her staff helped me select glasses. I don't have the first sense of fashion, but they were very helpful and talked about what fit my face. 20+ years of wearing glasses and she was the first to explain the sizing numbers on a pair of glasses. Finally, I've found an optometrist to whom I will return! There was no pressure for surgery, which isn't a good option for me. There was no upsell on the glasses or goggles. It was about what I needed and what worked for me. Oh lastly, this time for real, as Micheal said, the staff refers to you by name. You aren't just a patient with a credit card. And my name is tough! If I could give this place over 5 stars, I would. Every time I come to 20/20 Eye Wellness Optometry, my visits are nothing short of exceptional. Dr. Chan and her staff are extremely personable, take a genuine interest in their patients and strive to provide the best service they can. The eye exams are thorough and done with great care; Dr. Chan does not rush her patients at all and she makes sure that they are 100% comfortable before moving on. I cannot stress enough about how much she clearly cares about her patients and how much positive energy she has while working. Dr. Chan is wonderful with conversation, humorous, patient, and I have never heard her give any implication at all of any "rude" or "condescending" comments (as mentioned in another review) and I'm sure all her other patients feel the same way. When I walked in for my first eye exam with her, I had many questions and she took her time to answer each one, never making me feel uncomfortable or stupid at all. To her, there is clearly no "dumb" question. When she prescribed my first pair of contacts she sat next to me and guided me step by step on how to place them in my eyes without rushing me at all, and even let me practice an additional number of times so I was sure I was truly comfortable with them before going home. She is also incredibly knowledgeable about different types of eye diseases and disorders but explains them in a way that even my 10-year old cousin could understand. I bought some frames in San Francisco but needed an exam. Checked Yelp, saw good reviews for 20/20. Made an appointment over the phone. Pleasant call. They checked my insurance on the spot. Came in for my appointment a couple of days later. Nice office. Pleasant reception. Filled out a very minimal form. Modern office, great equipment. Dr. Chan was extremely pleasant and knowledgable and spent a great deal of time examining and explaining what she was doing and why. I really couldn't ask for a better experience. My girlfriend is going in to see Dr. Chan this afternoon for her exam as well. My previous experience was at Kaiser and was hit and miss. 20/20 Eye wellness is an optometry office that you'd actually enjoy visiting because they really take the time to get to know you and your needs. My husband and I went in for eye exams and each bought a pair of glasses and we couldn't be happier with the services and the product selections. We were treated like kings from start to finish in that office! I'm so glad I will never have to step into another small, crowded office with an emotionless optometrist who rushes through my eye exam! Dr. Chan and her staff are friendly, professional, and helpful. They are always there to greet us with big smiles. The office itself is neat, bright, and stylishly decorated. It provides a very comfortable and relaxing environment for us to choose from the well-stocked racks of fashionable, and reasonably priced frames and sunglasses. After my eye examination, Dr. Chan gave me a relaxing eye treatment in a cozy room. I reclined in a soft, comfy recliner while Dr. Chan applied a warm compress to my eyes. I say it was like a spa because this room had candle-like lighting, a soothing smell and relaxing, ambient music. Definitely ask for this service! She not only does diagnostics for my eyes, she also suggested exercises I can do to strengthen them. After having worked in an optometric office, I can say that I am well versed in the in's and outs of an optometric practice. I am very pleased with the way they run their practice! The staff were awesome! They take the time and effort to take care of all your needs. Something small that goes a long way to me is when people refer to you by your first name. They've not only done that but made me feel like family. The office itself is beautiful! Her equipment is also really fancy. What I really liked about my eye exam was that Dr. Chan spent alot of time with me and answered my whole barrage of questions. Not only did she perform a refraction, she performed an entire eye wellness exam and was very thorough! I was referred to Dr Chan by my brother several years back. Had 3 pairs of glasses and two pairs of sun glasses in her practice. One very memorable event that I still remember was when my son broken my glasses frame when I was sleeping. I called Dr Chan's office right away and she was able to see me the same day. After she exam the broken glass frame, she told me that it is broken beyond repair. She was able to find a floor sample frame and give it to me free of charge. read more

I found my optometrist!! Of all the optometrist I've visited, I like Dr. Chan the most. Dr. Chan is very knowledgeable and very detailed with her exam. I have an eye condition that most optometrists overlooked, but Dr. Chan thoroughly went through what symptoms I should be looking for. Of all these years with my eye condition, I never knew! It's so reassuring now to know what to look for. She made me feel comfortable and and made me feel like she really cared for my well being, which she does. I've had gone to a couple different optometrist previous to her and they just couldn't get my prescription right. I had complained to other optometrists that I'm getting headaches and dizzy from my prescription, and they wouldn't budge. Dr. Chan was not like other optometrist and didn't have the arrogant attitude where she knows best. She listened to me, and agree that my comfort is best for me. If the other prescriptions are making me dizzy, there's no reason to keep that prescription. Thank goodness! and she nailed my prescription! Finally can wear glasses with comfort. Throughout the whole exam, I did not feel rushed. She took her time and made me feel so comfortable. It was a different experience, and a good one. Overall, my experience was OK here. We found this place after my husband and I switched insurances and this was an office that took our new insurance and also decided to come here based off Yelp reviews. When my husband and I came in with our kids, there were only three people in the office -- they were chatting with each other, stopped briefly to look at us and chatted again for a few more minutes. We thought they were just customers talking amongst themselves but it turns out the three were office staff...um okay. We realized that because after the social talk they had with each other, for say about 5 minutes, it turned into: "hi, are you here for an appointment?" We let that first impression go because they turned out to be a pretty friendly staff and even sweet actually with our little kids. Anyhow, what was suppose to be about an hour or so visit ended up being over two. My husband went in first and he said it was routine for him. Then I went in second. Dr. Chan went in the room with the new tech that was hired to help train her on how to check my eyes with the field vision device. They checked my right eye first and then Dr. Chan said to the tech "ok that's it." I asked "hey, aren't you suppose my left eye too?" There was an awkward silence and then the tech proceeded to check my other eye. Moving on to my eye exam with the Dr., while I believe she's competent with her work, socially, it was off. Remind you, I came in with my husband and my two kids -- she was opinionated about children, had strong feelings about how marriage was not necessary, etc. -- hey, I am not opposed to people not having kids or people not being married. But I was there for an eye exam and felt that her comments came across as rude, and at times, her personality a bit condescending. I had dry eyes and had to come in again a month later for another exam. So a month passes & my follow up appt. was yesterday. While in the exam room with the Dr, she again shared her strong opinions about the same topics and more -- I did not feel comfortable and this time I realized that the first time was not a fluke and that I probably would not be coming back again. My eyes are still dry even after using the therapy she had rxed for me last time and she said she wanted to see me again in a month. Towards the end of my second visit, I kindly clued in the Dr. more about my background, her demeanor changed and I could see that she was a little friendlier in her tone. When I was about to walk out, she reminded me that I needed to schedule another appointment in a month -- I just said that I would call them. All in all, I didn't quite have the best experience here and will look for another provider. read more
