Dr. Is great. Don't recommend buying glasses there. I spent over $500. This was on top of what my insurance paid. They reduced their hours to 10-4 so god forbid if you work. It's really tough to get there. I show up, the young lady helping me didn't even try to fit the glasses on me. The worst experience. I struggled to get time off and my glasses have been there for two weeks. You should have recommended shipping them if you were not going to help me. I was trying to buy from a local business and not a big box retailer. Next time I'll go to Costco and have a few hundred dollars left in my pocket. read more

I started seeing flashes in the corner of my eye suddenly and it was very scary. Walked in to the office without a formal appointment hoping that we would get some help right away. Within an hour, they took the retina scan and Dr.Kamena reviewed the results with us and explained the observations. I've been seeing Dr. Kamena for a number of years now! An absolutely excellent Dr; besides glasses, he help me through a detached retina, a very bad eye infection, and recently with cataract surgery. He explains everything, gives suggestions, and has a great bed side manor so to speak. His staff I would also give 5 stars; absolutely the best customer service possible, always friendly! FYI - This review is 2 sided. It's part my story and then my husband's story. He does not Yelp, but asked me to please Yelp Murrieta Optometry with kudos to everyone who helped him recently. A little back-story - We ended up coming here 2 yrs ago after our family of 4 had just been through the whole eye examination/sales pitch for every test available at Lenscrafters in the mall. The doctor recommended that our 17 yr old son get reading glasses, but because of their limited selection and his wide face, we had to look elsewhere. We basically walked into MO a week later with his prescription, had him pick a pair of glasses that he loved and then come to find out that we had great vision coverage that would have covered all costs for examinations at MO. The optician who assisted us, I'm pretty sure it was Jessica, suggested that I submit for reimbursement of those costs and went through the process of how to do so. I followed her advice and received a good portion of the money we spent at Lenscrafters back. Needless to say, we knew we'd found a keeper. About 6 months later, when our son scratched his lenses, I called about getting them fixed/replaced and was able to get new lens ordered for him over-the-phone (still under warranty - YES!). Voila - problem solved again at no cost. When it came time for my husband to get an annual checkup, I didn't hesitate to set him up with an appt at MO. I went along with Mr. M and patiently waited in the lobby area, even though they said I was welcome to come back with him. After about an hour it was time to pick his glasses. He was going to have the same issue as our son, finding the right glasses for a wide face. It only took 2 tries before he decided on a pair. Let me tell you, Jessica really knows her stuff. Her attention to detail and ability to pinpoint exactly what is needed for comfort, on top of her willingness to go the extra mile for the patient, is well worth Yelping about. She even replaced my husbands old pairs of glasses with new parts, cleaned them and gave him new glass cases. The cases he was using were completely falling apart. By the time we walked out of there, he had his vision issues taken care of, 2 practically new pair of glasses and a new pair on the way. He wanted to be sure that I mention everyone who helped him that day because he commented they all made him feel like they cared about the patient, him. They were friendly, pleasant to talk to and looked like they loved their jobs. He was seen by Dr. Melanie Mook and has requested that he only be seen by her going forward, the optician as I said before was Jessica, and Natalie, the optometric assistant, was so easy going and nice. The following week, our son went in for an examination (by himself), breezed out there and later gave us a rundown of what was discussed. I didn't have to worry about any unclear explanation from the doctor or him getting pushed to pay for extras. They both should be receiving their new glasses this week and I'm confident they will be pleased. So that's our review. 5 stars for top notch service. read more

Not enough words can express how grateful I am for Dr Kamena and his amazing team. The first time I walked into the office, I immediately felt like family- not a patient. The way the team can balance conversation between cost(s) and having fun is a true gift. As for Dr Kamena... I have never had a doctor be so determined in finding the reasons why my vision/health is the way is is. He never gave up on me and he figured it out. He didn't settle for "it's just the way it is". I now have answers regarding my vision all thanks to Dr Kamena. Do yourself a favor and see him. I will be recommending all friends, family and colleagues. I would not recommend them, they check my eyes and then ordered lenses for my glasses. They installed the lenses but they were not right for my eyes. I went in again and they rechecked and said they would order new lenses, however they did not but never told me until I called two weeks later and they gave me some double talk. I then canceled my appointments however I had already spent over $300 and had unusable glasses. Since I wrote this review Dr. Kamena has provided me with new glasses with the correct prescription and refunded the cost of the incorrect lenses. He has made every effort to make up for their error read more

In a world... ...where I often feel like a number when it comes to healthcare but feel like a cherished human being here... ...where I hate wasting time yet I'll routinely drive an hour for Dr. Gee's care... ...where I'm often disappointed by customer service failures but delighted at how this place goes above and beyond the call of duty... ...Murieta Optometry is a refreshing change. I never previously went to any eyecare center loyally, yet I now have faithfully visited Murrieta Optometry for years. Why? -I feel I get the highest standard of eyecare (I believe Dr. Gee won "Best Young Optometrist of the Year" in California, or something like that). -Service is fun, friendly, and effective. -Hassle is minimal. What else could I ask for? Dr. Gee continually impresses me with his extensive professional knowledge and his ability to communicate it in layman's terms that even a five-year-old (literally) can understand. Not only can he make any aspect of eye health easy for you to understand, but he can make it fun, funny, and comfortable, too. I always feel that he has my best interests at heart, for now and for the long run. I never feel that he prioritizes his or his practice's needs over mine. His assistants have also consistently been warm, conversational, and friendly. Sometimes, they're also fun/funny. :) It's this type of human customer service/interaction that can make an otherwise unpleasant annual ordeal become a yearly enjoyable experience. I've had limited contact with Dr. Kamena but found him to be pleasant and agreeable. I *am* impressed and appreciative of the business he's put together, though. With respect to the opticians, I've been very pleased with what they've put together for me. I've gotten compliments on the frames they've provided me with, and I love the state-of-the-art Transitions lenses they've guided me to. I've never had an issue with the facilities (as I've found them always to be clean, modern, and neat). Scheduling of appointments and insurance coverage have gone very smoothly. Perhaps the only downside I can recall is having to drive back again once my prescription came in so that Dr. Gee could verify it was the right one...but then again, I can't really argue with my doctor wanting to make sure I've got the right solution, can I? I wish I had more friends and family in/near Livermore so that I could tell them all to go to Murrieta Optometry. For now, I suppose I'll just let the Yelp world know that everybody should. Not too many business deserve 5 stars, but this one does. The team at Murrieta Optimetry is the best I've seen in years. From the moment you walk in you're greeted kindly and smiled at. The support staff that do the initial exams for the doctor are friendly and enjoy questions both related and not to your visit. Everything is thoroughly explained and the smiles continue. Doctor Liou was super energetic and happy, corny jokes and all as you'd expect from your optometrist. He answered all my questions and made me feel like I got what I came for. Then it was off to Julie for glasses and lenses. Julie was patient and helpful and didn't say a word when I changed my mind and she had to redo my quote from the beginning. Somehow I got out of there without knowing they sell contacts (cheaper than 1800Contacts btw), which I wear almost every day. Holly called me the next day to follow up on my visit and when I told her I ordered contacts on line already she gave me a very nice credit (the difference in costs) for the inconvenience of not getting them from the office before I left- now that, is customer service. My wife and I had never been to an Optometrist before, but we both agreed that we should get our eyes checked out now that we're in our 40's. Not knowing what to expect, we made an appointment with Dr. Kamena. We did show up early, as requested, to fill out our new patient paperwork, and then had to wait well past our appointment time before we were called from the waiting room. Once inside, the assistant put us through a flurry of tests and had us wait in an exam room for the doctor. When the doctor arrived, he performed some additional tests, explained the results to us and answered a lot of questions that we had. Then we were shown to the glasses showroom to pick out a pair of frames. Overall, it was a good experience, and I felt like Scott was very thorough in helping us better understand what is going on with our vision. The entire appointment ended up taking a little over two hours, but then again, there were two of us. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the long periods of waiting. We waited again for about 30 minutes when we returned to pick up our glasses, even though we were told that they were ready for pickup the day before. read more
