Sashimi set

This is our favorite nigiri place! Really can't beat $28 nigiri combo that delivers quality. While seating is limited in the Hayward location, we usually come early and can get a seat. Seems like reservations are available. Definitely come in groups smaller than 4 as this place really doesn't have tables to host groups of 4 and more unless you want to all sit in a line at the counter.

Ok, Hayward. I see you. Came here hungry and got the nigiri combo with chef choice rolls and chawanmushi. Both were excellent! I usually would get sashimi but I heard their rice is really good so got the nigiri and it didn't disappoint. Everything was fresh and so flavorful, I didn't want to put any soy sauce. The chawanmushi was perfect as well. Although, I didn't leave completely stuffed, I was satisfied and I will definitely need to come back. Ambiance is unassuming. It's very small and easy to miss. Lots of parking across the street.

Ordered some fresh sushi takeout from Mujiri. The packaging was so artsy and unique (video/pictures attached). The maki rolls were fresh and they did not skimp on the fish. We got the spicy sake maki and salmon&shisho hosimaki rolls. Both were delicious and fresh. Cannot comment on the service or ambience as we got takeout. Highly recommend !

Nigiri Combo x2

Mujiri is a must-visit and such a great spot to bring friends for fresh, mouthwatering nigiri combos and rolls. Parking can be tough but I always park across the street in the parking lot (which can fill up quick). I always order the Nigiri Combo, which is now $32. I remember when it was $25, but honestly, it's still worth the extra $7+ for the quality you're getting. I alone can get full off the Nigiri Combo but I recommend ordering the any one of the Ala Carte Maki Rolls like the Spicy Sake Roll. The nigiri is so so delicious on its own, you don't even need to dip it in soy sauce. The staff are always friendly and will explain each fish, which I really appreciate. The interior is cozy and intimate, seating is limited. If you're planning to eat inside, I definitely recommend making a reservation in case. I've come in during lunch for one person and seating can fill up.

I had this place bookmarked for awhile, so I was glad that I finally got a chance to try Mujiri. The restaurant is charming, intimate, and cozy. Several tables and seating at the sushi bar. Not a good place for a party larger than 6. Soft house music is playing throughout the restaurant. One unisex restroom only. Chawanmushi: Japanese steamed egg served in a cup. Mixture flavor of dashi and house soy sauce. Contains shrimp and REAL crabmeat, chives, and topped with ikura. Nigiri Combo: chef's choice or your choice of 7 different fishes (they cannot be duplicate). Maguro (big eye tuna), Hamachi (yellowtail), Sake (salmon), Hotate (Hokkaido scallop), Umi Masu (ocean trout), Iwana (artic char), Toro (fatty bluefin tuna). It also comes with 1 chef's choice hosomaki. The fish was fresh on their house-flavored infused rice. The nigiri is on the smaller side. The service was attentive, polite, and nice. Support your local business. BTW, this was my 2000th review!

Stopped by this sushi spot and had a really good experience. The food was fresh and tasty, and the quality was solid overall. The sushi was well prepared and everything I ordered was enjoyable. The atmosphere was nice and service was friendly too. Definitely a place I'd come back to!

Yes this place reminds me of Japan. Great food, great music, and atmosphere. We got the nigiri and sashimi specials. Food was so good I had to order a second nigiri special. Sashimi was fresh and sweet. Well worth the wait and money. Glad to have Mujiri in Hayward.

Visiting and had to stop by my favorite sushi place. Still the freshest sushi I've had outside of Japan! Great service and traditional style sushi bar. I even introduced this place to a couple of friends. So, if you love sushi, I definitely recommend this place!

Santa Barbara Uni Nigiri and Iwana(岩魚) Nigiri

Pro Tip: The Nigiri Combo is the best bang for your buck. If it's your first time dining in or taking out, definitely go straight for this and order the following: 1. Sake (Salmon) 2. Hamachi (Yellowtail) 3. Iwana (Artic Char) 4. Umi Masu (Ocean Trout) 5. Kanpachi (Amberjack) 6. Kurodai (Black Snapper) 7. Toro (Bluefin Fatty Tuna) These are the best options without any additional costs. If you want to get anything from the additional menu I would swap out the Toro for the Santa Barbara Uni or the Hokkaido Uni because those sourced fresh here and are bomb. Also please stop asking if there are baked rolls here. They do not serve anything baked and this may not be the place to bring your kids or friends who aren't familiar with raw fish.

I always have a great experience ordering from Mujiri. The fish is always super fresh and you can really taste the quality. This time we got the 7 nigiri box and it was such a great mix of fish. Everything was so good! The restaurant itself is really charming and cozy too. I can't wait to come back and dine in next time!

nigiri combo and added ikura, Santa Barbara uni, and snow crab (zuwai kani).

I ordered Mujiri to-go and was honestly really impressed. First thing I noticed was the packaging -- everything was super clean, secure, and just really well put together. It almost felt too nice for takeout. I got the nigiri combo and added ikura, Santa Barbara uni, and snow crab (zuwai kani). Everything tasted really fresh, simple, and well done. Nothing felt rushed or sloppy, which I really appreciated. I've been lowkey looking for a Sugarfish-type spot in the Bay, and this is probably the closest I've had so far. Honestly... it might even be a little better. I also tried the green tea cheesecake. It was good, just not amazing, and definitely on the smaller side (very cute portion lol). I've heard the lemon one is better, so I'll try that next time. Overall, really solid. I'd definitely order again.

Up ahead, very small shop next to wheel xperts

Yes it's good. Yes it's fresh. Yes the take out box is fancy. It's one of two take out sushi I have thus far experienced serving their sushi rice similar to fancy omakase joints. HOWEVER, I did not appreciate how they gave me a salmon bomb literally. I intentionally ordered the salmon and shiso hosomaki separately based on the pictures and the hope they'll serve my favorite negi roll with the nigiri set. Thus, I intentionally did not select the saki/salmon nigiri since I thought I was reducing the chances of a salmon bomb on my plate. Boy, was I wrong. Therefore a major one star deduction for the lack of even trying to provide the customer with the chance of tasting a variety of fishes and flavors. I wanted to give three stars but I resisted. Brownie points for not giving ultra neon green wasabi. The server looked as if he was in ordinary clothing so I totally mistook him as a customer. Sketchy area. Super sketchy and very heavy door with lights as their sign (inside the window to the right) but when I went/when I drove by it wasn't turned on nor the open sign. I saw a white paper posted and I thought they relocated or something so I kept driving but grrrr you can't turn right after you see the wheel/mechanics shop on your right. But thankfully I saw street parking up ahead. If you're coming from the A street direction, Google maps will say "Montgomery Ave" but it's actually "Montgomery Street." 100% street parking. Will I come back? I would but I definitely will never order a separate side of any hosomaki roll ever again. And to anyone and everyone reading this, I highly recommend against ordering one too as you might risk the chance of them misunderstanding that's the type of fish you enjoy and therefore resulting as a bomb of it too on your plate. Very simple menu of nigiri, sashimi, hosomaki rolls, spicy rolls, and beverages.

We had an appetizer, two rolls, one regular salad and one seaweed salad - I particularly like the seaweed salad with the sesame seed oil you haven't had it, you should try it. The appetizer is great. You can see many pictures of it in the other reviews and enjoy the roles as well. Service was good. We came in at the end of their lunchtime, and they were pushing to get us served and out, maybe a little to much. Portions on the boxes were plentiful and the rolls were decent sized. Spent about 200 (including tip) on 8 people (each getting an item) not bad. Only problem was that I did put instructions on a couple items and they were overlooked (make spicy) so I went inside to get spicy mayo on the side. I could tell why they didn't answer - it was packed! The staff was doing a great job at pumping out orders for to-go and dine-in. Food was good. Service was food. The added .5 stars definitely has to be that they didn't forget an item.

I got to try firefly squid for the first time which has a short 1 month season. All the appetizers were unique, tasty, and beautifully presented. After 6 appetizers we got 8 nigiris and all tasted delicious. Wasabi was grated right in front of us. Not a lot of fatty cuts but each piece was so soft and tender. My favorites were the salmon, lean tuna, and otoro. We also ordered the rosy seabass from the supplement menu and it's the fattiest and most tender white fish i've ever had. Also so pleasantly surprised by the castella tamago which was made out of black tiger prawn, yam, and egg. It had an insane is-it-egg-or-cake flavor and texture. Restaurant is small with a cozy and intimate vibe. Service is top notch. Overall it was such a great meal and great night. This is prob the best omakase i've had in the bay

The restaurant is cute inside and definitely got the Japanese decors and vibe that makes the experience better. It is quite a small restaurant that can sit probably 16ish people capacity. Service was very attentive and friendly as expected. It is a fixed menu style and the food serving size is just okay because I expect something a bit more. I do find the food taste is bland and certain dishes are just okay. Food taste and quality is below my expectation for a somewhat expensive price tag comparing to what's served. The miso black cod was bland, the eel over rice was just nah, and the mackerel nigiri was super fishy. We didn't finish some of the nigiri even though there were only 6 of them total served. We added Otoro for extra $18 a piece and it was good (I mean how could you go wrong with Otoro?!) a bit too fatty of a cut so torching it make it better. We got a bottle of their sake and it was pretty good. I am disappointed because I am really hoping CV could have more great quality restaurants. Glad to give it a try though to cross off a list.
