Prior to shopping here, we did most of our shopping at Petsmart, or other large chains. We found this place when we moved to Greenwood. We loved how the store didn't really have alot of major brands. It had a great food selection, and some unique toys we hadn't seen before. We've bought lots of snacks here, some leashes, a travel bag, and alot of toys. The staff is always very friendly. They helped us pick out our travel bag since we were flying with our dog for the first time. They also had suggestions about Vets/Dog walkers in the area. I am not an anti-mask covid 'hoaxer' - and yet, I was just made to feel like one. I went in after stopping by Freddies, and washed my hands with sanitizer like I ALWAYS do between stores; AND I had my mask ON - but apparently, it wasn't on good enough for store employees. Someone needs to get them the memo that masks inhibit 'plumes & droplets' from reaching other customers and social distancing helps, too. HOWEVER, if my mask is only partially covering my nose because I find the actual medical masks harder to breathe through, THAT does NOT put them OR their customers at risk. I resent being treated like a common ignorant T-fan. I wear these masks everywhere; and I've never had any complaints from any other store employees. My partially-covered nose is my business. I've been going into mud bay for years for cat food. They are always the nicest, most helpful, and knowledgeable! You can tell they really care for their own pets and embrace yours as well. They have also reconfigured their stores for COVID restrictions and they have one of the most intuitive and safety conscious set up I have encountered. Keep it up Mud Bay! read more

Another Greenwood gem! Located to the east of the Fred Meyer and to the north of Top Ten Toys, Mud Bay is in the retail space of a condo complex. I have been going there for years for my cats (in fact, I still remember when they replaced Bosley's on Greenwood Ave. and still call the store "Bosley's" sometimes). They have always been super duper friendly, helpful and always have exactly what product I need and, if not, recommend local places to get what I need (for instance, Advantage flea med). Now I have a dog and, again, they have been informative and friendly. Every time we go in there, Rosie gets a little smile on her face and an extra spring in her step because Mud Bay means one thing: treats! She sniffs around the treats and then is always given one at checkout. It is one of her favoritest places. read more

Mud Bay is just a few blocks away from my apartment and it's so convenient. I refuse to shop anywhere else for my pet supplies. They have a great selection of foods, treats and toys. My cats are super picky and it's usually hard to find the right things for them. The staff is always welcoming and very helpful. Staff have only ever been happy to answer my questions about... - Which wet food would my cat like? (because you know my cat, right?) - How much dry food should I feed my cat? - How can I stop my litter box from perfuming my entire apartment? - How can I make sure he's getting enough water? - What cat conditioner can I buy to help brush out his bum burrs? I went in looking for a covered litter box for my kitty. I asked a woman for help with regards to size and fit. The customer service woman that helped me went out of her way to give me all the info I needed to make the right purchase. They even said I could return it if my kitty didn't like it. In addition, The woman answered all of my questions, even probably silly ones, amazingly. It was the best experience I've had at a pet store. I'm easily entertained. That being said, I should probably feel bad when I have guests over. Sure, we can have drinks. Movie night? Okay. But wouldn't you rather just watch my dog go buck wild for a treat from Mud Bay? Honestly, watching my lab mix, Hercules, run laps around my small apartment and do flying leaps off the back of my couch out of sheer excitement is completely entertaining. My dog will eat pretty much anything, really, so I tend to just buy dog food from the grocery store, since it's not as expensive. For special treats and toys though, Mud Bay is my go to place. The staff is always really friendly and offer samples of treats when I go in. My roommate's dog has certain dietary requirements and the staff has always been very helpful pointing her and her dog in the right direction. read more

If you want to spend more money for the same exact product sold at another pet store, come here. The staff is great here, or I would've given 1 star. Just do me a favor and compare the price of say, a bottle of powder multivitamin for dogs, to another leading pet store (same exact brand/size). You will see the huge difference in dollars (not cents, dollars). Also, they don't offer the same deal for dog treats (like buy 5, get 1 free) that a different pet store (in Ballard) offers. I did the math and if I switch pet stores I will be saving about 40 bucks a month. read more

Even if you don't love your pet, Mud Bay certainly does...They also love mark-ups, but you know, designer prices for designer products. The only thing they don't have, as far as I can tell, are claw caps. No big deal, who needs em when you can choose between four hundred and ninety million kinds of food. It's like CostCo for pets! What's not to love about Mud Bay in Greenwood? They have a huge selection of everything you could possibly need for your furry friend and helpful/knowledgeable staff to boot. They genuinely seem to like what they do and always fawn over the animals that come in (no wild pun intended). They are quick to talk about things like industry recalls and why they carry the brands that they do, offer suggestions about products based on your animal's needs, and give samples to test out. (In my experience they also have a money-back guarantee on all of their products, including any unused quantity of food if it's not working for your pet.) Sure, their prices are probably higher than some other stores, but the selection of quality products, convenient location, and great staff are worth it. read more

Helpful staff, and an EXCELLENT selection of cat treats. I enjoy walking by here and grabbing something yummy or fun for my kitties to enjoy. They have a great return policy (I haven't tried it, they just told me about it). You can try a new litter or food, and if your cats don't like it, they'll take the partial bag back. read more

The folks here are so nice, and we sometimes get samples which just makes Cady's day. I myself get freaked out by dog food that comes in a Jimmy Dean-like tube, but that's just me. My picky diva Chihuahua has decided she's not interested in her food anymore. So my mom recommended we go to Mud Bay to find foods she'll actually eat. Such a cute store & the staff are very knowledgable! Jessica was very helpful & made several recommendations for foods. The diva enjoyed the attention from staff & adores the "homemade" dog biscuits. I came in looking for a Wonder Walker. Liam was very helpful. He took me over to the harnesses and pointed out what I had asked for. He then got a demo dog (a stuffed dog) to demonstrate how to put the harness on at home. He also explained if it didn't work out to bring it back with the receipt. Right before Christmas, my husband and I decided to get ourselves a puppy. Even though my husband works for Petsmart, Mud Bay carries a lot of products that they dont have at my husbands store. They have a great variety of different brands, and the prices on products I have seen at other stores are pretty comparable. We go into Mud Bay at least ones a week, sometimes to get stuff we need and sometimes just to get the pup a chance to get out and meet new people. I cannot say enough about Mud Bay. My first experience with them was with their Maple Valley location. When my elderly cat, Fairbanks, was in his final year I started going to Mud Bay for their selection of non-domestic meat cat food to help with his failure to thrive. The vet thought he might have allergies in addition to other health issues. Mud Bay worked with me, giving me endless free sample of every different food to let him try and see what he liked and encouraging me as I navigated, often in tears, my last few months with my best friend. They will ALWAYS have my business. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that I am not able to get vet prescribed special diet food for my other elderly cat who suffers from kidney failure. Mud Bay carried Royal Canin, but not Royal Canin prescription diets. I would much rather give my business to Mud Bay than have to go to PetCo. or PetSmart, whose manager once told me that they didn't carry any smaller, organic, grain free pet foods because after all "someone has to help businesses like Purina and Friskies too" with a straight face. read more

This is the only place I shop for my dog! The staff at this Mud Bay are incredible. They know me and my dog call us by name and always ask how we are doing. This is the first dog I have ever had so they have been so helpful in answering all of my questions. Their return policy is a no brainer and I have used it several times as a new dog owner not sure about things. They have wonderful suggestions about food and have given me free samples several times until we came up with a good nutritional plan that she seems to be very happy with. The store has recently been remodeled and it's very easy to walk around in with my dog. I won't shop anywhere else! read more

Mud Bay is great. Me & Hero (the not too big, not too little, super picky dog) love going here frequently. Really though, the have an amazing selection of really good pet food. My mom got me started on this place when she went on a raw diet kick for her dogs. I tried it with Hero but he didn't take to it. So with some help from the (amazing) Mud Bay staff, we tried a couple of different dry foods till we found the perfect match. A very happy Hero thanks you guys! read more
