BUYER BEWARE!!! If I could give a "ZERO" star review I would. My wife went to buy supplies for my son's salamander tank. The owner of the store sold my wife some water agents and purposely wrote instructions with a black sharpie on the bottles and charged her for two filters instead of one. When we realized we didn't need most of the supplies we tried to return them and she refused because the bottles had been written on......by the OWNER! The owner also claimed that how could she believe that she charged us for two filters when we only brought back one? I guess that is on us for not itemizing the receipt in-store, but still absolutely horrible service! This owner will scam you, sell you what you don't need, and then refuse to return anything. And finally, the health department needs to give them a visit based on the smell and condition of the animals. I hardly ever give reviews and have owned my own business in the past, so I know how hard it is to maintain a solid business reputation. But the public should not support this place and it seems that based on other reviews a lot of folks agree with me. BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS read more

The only place I buy my fish and aquarium supplies. Knowledgable and friendly owners.

Crappy service and half dead animals DO NOT buy from here. Lady running the desk was rude and overcharged me.

Great place for fishes and aquarium. They are very warm and knowledgeable. Obviously there is a language barrier but that doesn't mean they are rude. I went there on a whim to check out their small animals section, which had snakes, hamsters and various kinds of lizards. I am not a reptile person(awakening inside the store) but I got a small colorful flinch from there as she was so lonely alone & caged! I would recommend them not to keep birds in that environment, I have released my bird in the wild but it is awesome place for both saline and fresh water fishes. Also they have amazing collection of small animals food and pet store stuff. Do check them out. read more

Little Amazon Fish & Pets - My flinch chilling at my place relaxing - Pet Stores Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Little Amazon - NO WAY! Worst Customer Service in Seattle. I have been searching for a bow front tank lid for my new tank, Little Amazon on Aurora ended up having the correct size needed. The owner helped me find it and was very nice about helping me. The tank lid was clearly marked $44.99, but when I took it to the front to pay, his wife was going to ring me up. Right in front of me she said, no I will charge you $74.99 not the price marked. I asked her why she did that and right in front of me took a sharpie and made a 7 out of the 4 to make it $74.99. She said I don't want to sell these for the regular price. She was VERY rude and I said, you can't just do that to a customer.... Well they can because they own the place but I said that was very bad customer service and she said I don't care! This lady is ALWAYS rude and had many run in's with other customers. I highly recommend you do not shop at this fish store, there are many other fish stores have better quality and service. I have never been treated so poorly and disrespected but a store employee let alone an owner. Do not shop at Little Amazon!! read more

The owners are rude and their return policy is a joke. They will happily take your money and then not care whatsoever about you as a customer. BEWARE!! There are so many pet stores in Seattle that actually treat their customers with respect and professionalism. read more

Eep, not sure where to start with this store. Located right on the main Aurora road, this place is hard to miss. Packed with a variety of fish, décor and other aquarium items, one can definitely find something that's needed. In terms of plants = not a very large selection. Most of the plants were ok but overall, pricing for the plants were a bit too high. For fishes, I was a bit dismayed to see some of the fish tank conditions. Quite a lot of dead fishes and I felt a bit bad for the overcrowding of certain types of fishes for the tanks. In general though, there is a pretty solid amount of different fishes to look at. Prices again, were a bit high when compared to other places, so I would recommend looking around before you buy. In terms of other items like decorations and such, prices seem a bit high and you can easily get some of the stuff through Amazon at a lower cost. In summary, if you're strapped for time and can't travel far, this is an ok fish store to stop by and get whatever you need. Otherwise, it wouldn't hurt to look at other places before making a final decision to buy x,y,z at this store. read more

I had to lower the rating because I am seeing betta fish being kept with other fish. They should be kept alone as I saw them nipping at the other fish. It saddens me to see some of the dead fish floating in the tanks. Overall the fish are being maintained but more care needs to be put in order for the fish to thrive. I'm hoping they will see this message so that they can improve the conditions of their fish and reptiles. I really don't want to see this business close. read more

We have gotten about 8 fish from Little Amazon and they are very healthy and happy. We love going there and find the staff kind and friendly. I have no idea what people in some of these reviews. I have been in 4 times and all fish were looking lively and happy. It's a nice shop and seems to be run by a kind family. Also very kid friendly!! read more

Went in today. Wow that's a mistake Seriously, If you have saltwater - stay away from this store. The lady told me shipping costs have tripled due to COVID-19 so the corals are about $50 per frag. No other store has jacked prices. They will not cut polyps off either. When I left the entry door open the lady asked me if I would be fixing the AC unit. They are rude, unknowledgeable, and over priced. One time was enough for that store. Am shocked they are still in business. read more

This place initially threw me off due to the smell and yelp reviews but it's actually not that bad! The owners are very kind and when I asked about their larger turtle, parrot and others, they were informative and cared about them. The turtle get out of its cage every morning to roam the store and the parrot is attached to the women and can only be let out during off hours. read more

It is clear the people here are not at all knowledgeable and do not care for the animals they are selling. There are so many better places to go, even petco beats this place. Don't shop here. If you're looking for a good fish store, go to The Fish Store on Lake City Way. They're extremely kind, knowledgeable, and they have very reasonable prices. Every animal looked half dead. I don't know what animal safety regulations look like, but this ain't it.

I went to buy some frozen pinkie mice and this store was open and close. That was a BIG MISTAKE. The store smelled terribly. I was in such a hurry to leave I didn't look the Frozen mice over, another BIG MISTAKE. See photo. These were expensive and they look so sketchy I wouldn't dare free them to my snake. I would definitely stay away from this store. What a waste of money, I'll have to go but more some where else. read more

Worst pet store I've ever been to, the animals look sickly, we saw several literal live betta fish on the ground, inside plastic bags! Wtf ? What's going on here ? Come on Seattle get it together ! To top it all off the owner was so rude and dismissive. Please don't support this store and their careless attitude/actions towards animals. read more

After reading some of the reviews I found myself very confused. I love this place! I have multiple fish tanks and indoor ponds. I also have a hedgehog who appreciates their fresh live and healthy bug selection. I love my pets and have been able to get many questions answered at Little Amazon. The owner and his wife are both really nice too which some of the reviews said they weren't!? Do people not have anything better to do than criticize others? The quality of little Amazon is much better than Petco, although not as cheap or corporate. read more

I love this store! They have a great selection of supplies for reptiles and fish. They even have cheaper prices than petco! For a UTH (Under Tank Heater) their smallest sells for 9.99 while petco goes for 14.99. They love their reptiles, and I say this cause many of their reptiles are tame and are use to human handling. Oh! And they have a big selection of care books for various animals from fish to reptiles to birds to even specific dog breeds! This business has been open since 1996, they're obviously doing something right to be open for almost 20 years! And if they don't have anything you want, they'll order it for you! They really know their stuff, believe me. And for snake owners, if you ever want to get a live rat or mouse to feed your snake, just come to this place! Even petco employees told me this is the place to get live food for your reptiles :) they have super great prices as well and have many sales. Please don't judge this store by the bad reviews. You should have your own opinion, so go check out this store for yourself! read more

I bought my fish tank here, and I honestly wish I hadn't supported this place. Two reasons: Animals Care and Bad Business Practices.Their fish are kept in unclean tanks, the bettas have been dead in their cups for a while, the arowanas do not look like silvers, the repiltes in the back are in unbearable conditions, and I heard birds behind the stacks of boxes in that same room but could not see them among the garbage. Also when someone bring back a return within a qeek, unopened and with the receipts saying paid in cash, you are required by law to refund me the in the method I paid, NOT in store credit written on the damn receipt. Sketchy business, do not support. Someone go inspect this place and shut them down. read more

TOO OVER PRICED!!!! why Pay over $200 for a reptile that is $100 at pet smart! yeah not falling for a scam.

This place shocked me. They have reptiles, a few without heat lamps, crowded in a very disorganized room with a Lorikeet eating nothing but sunflower seeds. Lorikeets don't eat seeds, their diet consists of fruit. A boa was in a very small enclosure and the tortoises literally have no room to move around or have any space to even feel settled. An Iguana is shoved in the back among the disarray in a wire cage in the dark with no heat source, a beautiful moniter lizard kept in the tiny cage way too small for how big it is. For all the reviews claiming the owners know so much about the pets they carry and sell, you'd think they could put that knowledge to use and take proper care of the animals huh? A few dead fish floating in the saltwater room, and in another aquarium two very stressed out eels, both battling the other over the very small space they have to move around in. All of the animals look unhappy to me. When humans live in their own chaos of an untidy house they get anxiety, or worse depression. Can you imagine how the animals feel? I'll be reporting this place. read more

Despite the bad reviews and comments on the service. I love visiting this place with my significant other. We haven't had an issue with the fish we bought dieing, but despite being a few months into this hobby we quarantine and acclimate all the fishes we buy no matter where they come from to lower the risk. After seeing a few discus photos for those worried the black spots are from freckling which does happen in fishes. They have great deals on fish and the owners do care about what they do, knowledgeable, and are willing to develop a relationship with their customers. For example we've been there multiple times so the female owner recognizes us and was even willing to give us a slight deal on a large piece of mopani wood. For a 12 pound piece of wood even without the deal it would of cost a lot anywhere else. The fish (we bought a lot of tiger barbs) are also fairly priced. My boyfriend and I have a sweet spot for them. They aren't rude if anything they are just loud (we are too I think it's common though - it's like being with my parents lol). The smell people talk about seems like it could be from the dogs having accidents, but it's not unbearable. read more

If you want a great selection of well-priced, imported bettas and other fish, visit this little place. The owner and his wife are friendly, knowledgeable, and down to earth. They WILL sell you individual schooling fish (not the happiest fish if kept alone) and incompatible tank mates (possible fighting or eating), so do your research beforehand. That being said, it's a no-frills joint that actually has a lot to offer. If you're complaining about bettas in cups or other 'conditions' just know that many of the fish are coming straight from Thailand or other Asian countries that breed them and keep them in even more confined spaces. In all, I love Amazon Fish & Pet, they're super sweet and the selection is one of my favorites in Seattle. read more

They will tell you anything to sell you something. I bought an eel and a couple months later I asked if a shark could be put in with the eel. They said yes, no problem. Immediately after opening the bag with the shark in it the eel attacked and killed the shark. I asked them to give me some kind of refund or credit. They said no. I will never go back there read more

DO NOT support this pet store. I was shocked, saddened and disgusted by the conditions of this pet store, specifically the reptile room. Dirty, smelly and VERY overcrowded. A large Sulcata tortoise in a way too-small pen. Two smaller Sulcata tortoises' shells were deformed from lack of proper nutrition and uvb lighting. All of the other animals including smaller species of tortoises, leopard geckos, a large savannah monitor lizard, chameleons, mice, snakes, etc. were all overcrowded and stressed out. No one wants to buy a pet from a store in already poor health. This means they will likely be there until they die. I did file a complaint with animal control and they said they have been there before and are keeping an eye on the place with regular check-ins. Unfortunately the store meets the bare minimum standard of care, which is also sad that Seattle has such low standards for animals. The best thing we can do is not support this store, forcing them out of business or to at least take better care of their animals. read more

This review is for their reptile room. Never have I seen such animal abuse at a pet shop. This place is beyond disgusting. The living situations for the animals is cruel. They had two adult balls housed together in maybe a 20 gallon tank with one hide. All the mice seemed rabid. They were also eating each other. The place is also covered in flies and bugs. read more

I stopped by the store the other day to get a larger fish bowl and some new rocks. Most of the fish were well kept and housed in large tasks, with only a few per tank. It looked good so far. However... when I got to the section where they kept their beta fish I was shocked. Not only were they kept in those tiny cups but the water was half full and brown. Some of the fish even had their fins exposed from lack of water. Appalling! So I bought one and took him home. Then called my friend and she did the same. Well my fish was dead within two days and hers in 4. Both seemed to have the same issue, convulsing for about a day and then dying. I am not even going to get started on the room the puppies are kept in. The proprietor seems like a nice woman, but she really needs to get several things together before the health department or animal control shuts her down. read more

The couple times I went here to purchase bettas, both died within a couple of days. I'm not new to raising Betta fish as pets so the outcome is shocking. After reading some of the reviews it seems like it's a recurring issue when it comes to them selling below quality water creatures. I didn't bother returning dead fishes ti the store since I know I won't be getting a refund. I should just stick with PetSmart or PetCo, my fish lasts 3 years. And their place needs sanitation, it's dirty in there. read more

I live near this store and have been coming here for 12 years. The owners, Huey and Lynn are two of the hardest working people I have ever met. They work every single day of the year except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Huey and Lynn are also very personable and know most of their customers (and our pets) by name. What they sell is fresh and saltwater fish, some reptiles, and supplies for most any kind of pet often cheaper than what you can find at a mega monster store. THEY NO LONGER SELL PUPPIES. Some time ago Huey and Lynn did the right thing and stopped selling puppies. While they treated the animals very well, there are always unknown issues with a supply chain and the owners admirably responded to community pressure, yet the activists are still unfairly dogging the store (pun intended) with negative ratings. If you're in the neighborhood or in North Seattle, check them out. Don read more

...this place is exactly what you'd expect.. Aquatic Department I feel the owner has a soft spot for discus as they appear healthy BUT as for the rest there is a generic selection of fish & plants. There were a lot of sick, diseased & dead fish to be found.. but not a single tank was marked 'quarantine/not for sale' ..so simply put its not a good idea to purchase fish here unless you have a solid understanding of how to identity disease & treat accordingly prior to introducing them to your tank at home. I've read a lot of negative reviews but feel most of them are by inexperienced keepers who purchased sick/weak fish without doin research prior to purchase. This is not a good place for beginners who don't know the difference between alive & thriving. Reptile Department The enclosures were not filthy & some were surprisingly spacious & appropriate. However you can tell that they are not thriving.. a few young water dragons showing metabolic bone disease, snakes with patchy sheds/retained caps, thin chameleons.. etc.. Small animals Small cramped spaces & the usual results follow, some animals have upper respiratory infections, injuries, parasites, the weaker individuals won't survive, no enrichment.. terrible life for these guys.. but they are mostly feeders & let's face it, this is normal for pet stores.. Summary Obviously this place is not in business for the better interest of the animals, it comes down to profit. The owners run a business. That's the industry standard so if you do bring any animal home from this place (or most others) be aware that it'll probably need to be acclimated by an experienced handler.. good luck & always do your research before buying any pet or better yet rescue one instead!! read more

This lady ripped us off. We bought two guinea pigs paired and all equipment to raise them. On the same day, the wheel for exercise broke, the water bottle was awful, she forgot to add the food to our package and when we came back within an hour she refused to refund the food, broken wheel and water bottle. She forgot to give us food, though she brought to the register. I was willing to accept that. However, she refused to refund the wheel that was broken and the water bottle that would not fit the cage. Total nightmare. Never again will we buy from her or local. She is a crook. Spends $350 and she offered $10 off. To try to trust people who are local owners is now tarnished by her psycho anti-customer service. read more

Lynn is truly amazing she is a wealth of knowledge and can really help you take the best care of your animals. The owners are so friendly patient and helpful. We have a ball python and so we stop by about once a week and each time we do it's a joy to visit with them while getting our supplies. Our ball python wasn't doing so good and just by asking us a few questions Lynn was able to make some suggestions for how to change his environment we took her advice and were able to pickup everything we needed right there, within less than a week we could see that his health was improving! I highly recommend them!! read more

This place has gotten some bad reviews in the past but since I've been coming here for about a year and a half and its a cool little shop! Yea it smells a little funky (but what fish/reptile store doesn't??), which I know was one if the complaints from some people. They gave a great and varied selection of reptiles and both fresh and saltwater fish, as well as supplies. The owners (their only staff) are incredibly nice and remeber meceach timebi come in and ask how my reptiles are doing which is very cool. It's definitely worth checking out! My main reason for shopping here is for their reptile food selection. Their large crickets are truly LARGE, unlike petco/petsmart who's "larges" are more like small /mediums. They are also the only place in the area who sell feeder roaches (both discoid and hissers). I talked to the owner about ordering me some dubia and he said since I come in so frequently he would include some in his next order! My only complaint is their prices on roaches. Their crickets prices are the same as petsmart/petco, but their large roaches are $3/ea. which is waaaaaaay overpriced. But seeing as my only other option is to drive to Everett (Seattle reptile) I continue to go here for the convenience of being only about a mile away. Btw Seattle reptile charges $.50/ea for adult and large nymph B. Dubia. So for larger quantities its worth the half hour drive. I do like supporting local business though so buying a 2-3 a coue times a week is ok with me although I leave feeling a bit ripped off. In closing, this is a cool little spot and worth stopping by. They can also special order specific species of reptiles or fish if requested. I will continue to shop here... Although less frequently as I'm starting my own roach colony now :) read more

I finally decided to check this place out after inching by it dozen of times during rush hour. I walked into an empty store lined with aquariums and filled with the sound of bubbling water that makes fish nerds flush with glee. The tanks were fairly well kept, and the fish were pretty standard. There were some discus an other unusual fish, and the saltwater section had nothing in the way of coral or inverts--just fish. Overall, The Fish Store on Roosevelt would blow them out of the water. I wandered into a back room that housed a pretty extensive collection of reptiles, a few hamsters, and what looked like a bunch of exotic insects. Spying a species of turtle that I thought I recognized I went to take a picture of it with my phone to ask my friend about it. The woman behihnd the counter was on me in a flash. "Excuse me! Excuse me! No picture! No picture!" Startled, I apologized. What would be the issue with taking a picture of an animal? It seemed really strange, and given the awkward feeling I had gotten from the place when I walked in, I decided that my time was up. I didn't try to go through the door marked "puppies" for fear that I'd get yelled at again. I just left. Customer service isn't great. Fish selection is average. Salt water was unimpressive. Meh. read more

One time I spent a day visiting all the pet fish stores in Seattle and Little Amazon was easily the cleanest. The floor was relatively dry and the store was clean and didn't have a dirty fish smell that some shops have. The fish selection was pretty good with a small room inside with saltwater fish inside and fresh water fish outside in the big room. The fish looked healthy enough for me. I didn't see any dead fish on my visit. Inside the saltwater room there were some baby boxfish that were to die for, sooo cute! Prices were ok. The owner was friendly enough and there was street parking outside. There are a lot of complaints on this page about their fish dying but it's not easy to keep fish. There's something called new tank syndrome where your fish will die if a new tank hasn't matured and equilibrium hasn't been reached. It is not the pet store's fault if your fish dies, however the pet store should be a little culpable if it tries to sell expensive fish to a new owner knowing that NTS will probably occur. However, these days there is so much info on the internet that anyone should be able to research keep fish before spending a lot of dough. I don't really recommend one fish store over another because every store's selection is going to be a lot different and a fish enthusiast will usually visit all the fish stores regularly to check them out. read more

My roomate and I bought 5 fish from here for nearly $250 dollars. 1 week later they all died. Incredibly high prices, and lackluster customer service. Higher prices are typically justified by the inclusion of good customer service, post-purchase support, a strong warranty, or some sort of added value like that. However, it seems you'll find none of that here. The item I was seeking was slightly over double the typical price in a brick and mortar store. I believe in supporting local businesses, even though they can be slightly more expensive than ordering online, but a markup of this magnitude was surprising to me. I respectfully inquired why the price was significantly higher than many other stores in the area. The man (possibly owner, or of relation to the owner based on other reviews I've read) Acted as if I had insulted him, and rudely responded along the lines of "that's just the way it is, deal with it." With that, I decided to take my business elsewhere. read more
