That being said, I didn't have a great experience with the follow interactions. A couple days after my appointment My cat wasn't eating the prescription food I had bought from them. I had tried multiple flavors/types and was at a loss on how to get him to eat again. I called pacific city and the receptionist was short with me and interrupted me and said I should "absolutely not" mix any of his old food in with his new prescription food. When she finally offered to ask one of the vet techs for me (what I had called for originally), the vet tech gave the *same* advice that I had initially suggested. It's clear that the receptionist was not qualified to be giving me such strong advice. However, other people I interacted with were generally very friendly! I did feel like they made an effort to up sell products/services that may not have been necessary? I am always thankful that pacific city was available for me, but I think these bad experiences have discouraged me from being a regular patient.

I set out all my plants that needed water on the main kitchen counter, along with a bottle to water them. I have smart devices and a few strategically placed indoor cameras (about which I made him aware), and when I was notified that the water level on the fountain was low I messaged him and asked him to refill it. He refilled it, but put it back on the stand and didn't even check to see if it was working. It wasn't. I was in a different country with a significant time change, so when I next checked my device notifications and camera I discovered my cat had no source of water. I contacted him immediately to make him aware of the issue, but as his visits were typically later in the day I reached out to a neighbor and asked them to go over and provide a bowl of water for my cat in the meantime. Thankfully she did, and she indicated my cat was very thirsty. Despite providing directions about the fountains and some additional prompting, Ray was unable to figure out how to work the fountain. I asked him to ensure that he left out a bowl of water for the cat, which he did. I have no idea if he actually saw the cat, or if he had any level of interaction with her on his visits. I didn't specifically ask him for this info or pictures prior to using him, but as all other cat sitters I had previously used did so without prompting, I (mistakenly) expected this. He also failed to water my plants and two of them died. This was minimal compared to leaving my cat without water, and not knowing whether or not he even saw her (other than one time he mentioned she came out to see him on one of his visits).

Under his care, my cat died…read more I'll never go into details about how my cat passed because no one should/needs to have that knowledge. However, it was due to Ray not physically getting his eyeballs on the cats every single day. Cats aren't house plants. You have to make sure they're not up to something. You don't just feed and water and leave. Especially when the cat mom leaves SEVEN PAGES of instructions on how they needed to be separated while they ate so that one could take his pill and if he didn't then you could use the pill popper provided to put it down his throat. But that's not what happened. I guess my notes were taken as suggestions. On the last day when the vet thinks he passed, I received a text from him saying: "Dear (me), Another uneventful visit. Your children are going to be so happy that you're back home. Left your FOB on the kitchen counter. - Ray." Nowhere in that text does it say I couldn't find them so I just left. I don't really know what else I can do at this point other than warn other pet owners. Yes, I know he didn't mean to have this happen but it did. And I think when it comes to your pets life so you shouldn't take any risks. This shouldn't have to happen to any other pet owner out there. I'm notifying all the organizations that he lists on his website too. He did refund fully and returned my key. He was also an incredibly nice person. That aside, nothing will bring my cat back but I pray this doesn't happen with anyone else.

She's 100% reliable, our dog loves her, and always comes back worn out from her park visits. She's even put up with our dogs occasional (frequent?) skittishness and the fact that our dog is allergic to bees (requiring Helen to carry an epi-pen. No, seriously). On occasion we've also had her take our dog out/feed her for times when we can't get back home after work early enough, and the occasional pet-related house-sitting. I can't recommend Helen highly enough, honestly. There's no one else I'd want (besides myself, and even then...) helping me take care of my furry and not-so-furry creatures. 1-gillion-percent recommended (times infinity + 1).

I was unable to make an appointment and was charged a $65 fee (no big deal). Paid it within 2 months of the missed appointment and now they are saying it was too late and they have cancelled my account. Apparently their policy is that if you have a cancelation fee of $65 and don't pay within 30 days they will cancel your account and refuse to see you for life. I proved to them the fee was paid but they still have not acknowledged the fact it was paid and refuse me as a customer. Its too bad as we have had 3 generations of dogs taken care of there but the new Gestopo management seems to be looking for reasons to eliminate customers.

It's really made a difference in our household where the two of us work full time. For the dog park adventures, Not only is our dog having fun, but she makes sure he sticks close and doesn't wander too far from the pack. At the end of each day, she writes us a quick update on the day's events. As for boarding, Veda has taken great care of our dog for up to a week at a time. But I have also been taking my younger cat there for weekly adjustments and replacement of a splint on his right rear achilles tendon. So i have gotten to know them very well over 9 months or so, in addition to the previous 17 years I have had them as my vet, before Dr. Barfield took over the clinic from Tom Penn, also a wonderful doctor. Yes, they get busy, they have to manage their flow of people through the office and dogs that bark, etc., and it's a tough job. But when it comes down to it, i would trust any of my beloved pets to them, and know they and i will be treated with skill and kindness.
