I was unsure to write a review about this after my horrid experience but heard another customer had a close one with another customer's dog like we did few months ago at another location as well. I have a funny loving happy go lucky GSP. I took him with me on my lunch break to get him a leash and some treats. He was just under a year. We are at the checkout counter and I turn around and see this older lady with this 3 times the normal size Rottweiler. (not to go into breeds but just stating the other dog) he came in with a mean demeanor. She walked RIGHT UP TO ME AND MY DOG while I was checking out I turn and saw my dog lean in a couple inches from where we were to sniff him my dogs tail wagging...still on a leash he barely moved from the positon we were in when I return my card to my wallet and heard a yelp from my dog and a CRUNCH. The Rott had my dog by the neck picked him up and started to shake him violently as other animals to do kill something when going for the neck. The owner just stood there as I dove in to try and break the Rott's grip on my dog. I finally detached jaw from my dogs neck and moved him over to my right side where I was at the counter. He soiled himself and was bleeding very badly, yelping like I have never heard in my entire life of living with dogs. People including the other owner AND EMPLOYEES just stood there. I repeatedly asked for a dry and wet rags to put pressure on the wounds. I was crying trying to calm my dog down when I finally yell for them to get something to help with the bleeding as I am using my hands. The other owner did not remove her dog or even walk to the other end of the store. BUT GET THIS. When I finally carried him to the car (he could not walk) the manager pretended to care after not helping earlier. A very kind customer gave me her contact info and told me the part where I had my head turned to receive my change and she said not once did my dog do anything not even growl. nothing. She was standing in line to pay and when I left the Rott WAS STILL IN THE STORE. and they let them try on harnesses etc even after the customer said she would not come up to the counter to pay unit the Rott that was still shaking and salivating from the mouth. They lady said she didn't have to leave. Which is total BS. Shame on Mudbay employees for not helping more and for not escorting the dog that just attacked. It could have been my young child that I bring into the store sometimes. If that happened that dog would not have made it out alive and would have sued the others. I was too concentrated on my dog to call the cops because of his serious injuries that needed to be tended to. I was offered a bed and treats for him after I went back in couple days later to return the stuff I had purchased that day. I'm sorry but that does not make up for the poor response to all of this. I contacted corporate and they stated they do not have any kind of policy or procedure for things like this...uhm its a pet store...? My dog is humane friendly and has been introduced to people, other animals of all kinds, and children since birth. Dogs that are friendly and act right in public shouldn't have to deal with this. THEY SHOULD HAVE SOME TYPE OF PROCEDURE PERIOD AND SHOULD HAVE ESCORTED THAT DOG OUT ASAP. I have filed a police report a day or two after incident but wanted to give you an insight as to what happened. Be careful. Stay Alert. Again I am not trying to shame a particular breed. Just stating the facts of what dog was involved with my dog. read more

Hi, I don't like giving a business a bad review but this time I feel I need to speak up. Mud bay in general is a good store but their pet grooming products such as flea removal are very ineffective and very much a waste of your money. Do not buy their organic flea products as they simply DO NOT WORK. If your little kitty or doggie has fleas do the smart thing and go somewhere that sales FRONTLINE or visit your local vet and get some PRESCRIPTION flea medication. You will not only save money in the long run but your little buddy will be happier for it. :) read more

Great pet store with friendly staff and a wide variety of products. Many of the items tend to be a little more expensive than other stores/websites, so I don't think I'll buy from here on a regular basis. But will definitely be back to pick up some of the gourmet dog treats or an occasional toy. read more

Wow! I was blown away by the staff here. They REALLY know their stuff. Due to medical issues, my cat needed to switch diets after 17 years on the same diet. It was not a smooth transition, thus I was in no less than 6 times over a two week period and EVERY staff I encountered over that time asked questions about my pet and had recommendations. They really took the time to walk me around the store and tell about each product, with great detail. They also let me sample a variety of foods at no charge before I purchased. Yesterday, I stopped by another high end pet store that is closer to my house to purchase a can of food- where I encountered higher priced food and unhelpful staff who could not answer a question. I'll drive the extra distance from now on! Mud Bay has won my heart and I'll shop no where else for my pet needs. read more

I've been coming here since it opened. The place isn't huge has a great selection, and everything is of the highest quality while still affordable. The staff here is excellent. They are very knowledgeable and never have I felt schmoozed into buying anything. They have a 100% try-it-and-bring-it-back-if-you-don't-love-it policy that I have utilized several times over the years as the needs (or picky preferences) of my pets have changed, and they have always been awesome. The manager Sue, was particularly helpful with a large purchase that I made last year and went out of her way for me in customer service and kindness. They also remember their regulars which is appreciated. I have visited Mud Bay locations in Mukilteo and Capital Hill, and the Mill Creek location is definitely the most friendly! This is by far my favorite pet store they have helped us countless times by offering samples of food for our slightly picky dog to giving us kitty litter and donated food for rescue cats over the weekend until we could get them placed . The staff is awesome and they post pictures of local pets as well and remember names . These people are in it for the love of animals not just the money . read more

Mud Bay is an amazing store! I would highly recommend this store to anyone who loves their pets and is looking to find high quality products at really reasonable prices. I had been seeking a particular brand of natural cat food for my 18 year-old cat who has chronic kidney disease and was starting to refuse his his long-time cat food (Trader Joes cat food). I was hoping to stimulate his interest and appetite with something different. A friend passed on a pouch of BFF cat food which he did eat but I had been unable to locate a retailer for this brand - even via the manufacturer's website. A colleague recommended that I try Mud Bay to see if they carried the BFF food line. Wow! Not only did they carry the BFF food line, but they had a huge selection of other high quality pet foods without all the scary stuff usually found in the mainstream pet foods generally sold in mainstream box-stores. I truly felt like a kid in a candy store! The store staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about their products (I was helped by Margaret but as I was checking out, I also found out that other store staff also were interested, helpful, and extremely generous - throwing in lots of free samples for me to try with my cat). I am so excited to go through the different foods to identify which one(s) will work for my elderly cat so I can go back and stock up. In the end, on my very first visit, for under $10, I walked out with 8 cans of different food to try, a large sample bag of dry cat food, several samples of cat treats, a thank you note with coupons for future shopping trips, and an awesome overall experience. I am now officially a hard-core fan of Mud Bay and have already been singing their praises to my colleagues, family, and friends. read more

Had a recommendation that I was feeding my kitty the wrong food....went in and was so happy with the assistance that Logan provided. He made recommendations....gave me free samples of multiple types of food, and instructed me how to introduce them. While Logan will be our go to person, all of the staff is incredibly professional, welcoming and super fun to interact with. Can't recommend this particular location enough! read more

My dogs love Mud Bay, their cookie/treat bar has their favorites. If they see the bulk bag they go crazy. The staff in any Mud Bay are terrific but yesterday was my first time in the Mill Creek location. It has a great layout compared to the one I used to live by. The Staff immediately acknowledged me when I walked in with my dog. I needed a dog sweater /rain proof jacket. But my Aussidor (lab & aussi mix) has a long and tall lab body but a very stocky and large rib cage. So even the XXL didn't fit. He's 97lbs. The staff went through every brand with the largest size and helped me try on and off to find one that fit. I was talking about a trip and the hassle of finding someone to take care of the dogs and the Lady assisting me recommended a dog nanny that she uses and handed me a card. That was extremely helpful and nice of her to spend so much time helping me. They will be my go to place now for all my pet needs. =) read more

I will never go to another big chain pet store again. This store was personal, local and it's no more expensive than the other stores. The service was fabulous! The quality and selection of merchandise was excellent. They also have good specials and coupons. And it's a family owned business. Five stars plus. Love it!!! read more

So I am a new pet owner of a handsome 2 year old Pitbull who I've named Bentley ! Being from California all I've known are Petcos and PetSmarts so fresh to Washington I heard a few people mention this mudbay place . So I called to find out about dog food INITIALLY and little did I know that was only the beginning to the amazing experience I would soon have with this place . I had the pleasure of speaking with Trinity ! I had soooo many questions because Bentley has food sensitivities and she was more than happy to suggest some options while I'm at walmart to help me find the closest dog food that would work at the time while at the same time educating me on what to look out for in ingredients . The next day I wanted to know what would be their suggestion on how to keep him from barking so much while I am away so of course I called them back after having such a goof experience with Trinity in which I had the pleasure of speaking with DeAndra ! She suggested a couple of things and encouraged me to bring him in theyd love to meet Bentley and see what products they had that would help both Bentley and I transition smoothly together ! As if I thought this establishment couldn't get any better ? When we walked in we were greeted warmly and kindly , Bentley was being so well behaved and he was of course being spoiled with treats ! Carl was soo amazing ! He was patient and soo sweet ! Helped me with all my questions , concerns , and I just felt like the people at this place really go above and beyond the expectation we as consumers really have ! I seriously will never step foot inside a petco or petsmart again after coming here ! I truly feel a review just isn't enough when giving praise to these awesome people !
