Wow....after 12 years, I guess it's time for an update. Ash Way has moved, changed business model and name. (Ash Way Pet Spa) We've been taking our black lab/border collie (Fenway) here for grooming since day one. Owners are very friendly and run a great business. The on-line scheduling and text confirmations are so convenient. Our groomer of choice is always Kaylee. We always request a simple wash and nail trim. Kaylee manages to work with Fenway's eccentricities and he always comes home clean, fresh with nicely clipped/dremeled nails. I like that Kaylee comes out, delivers Fenway to lobby and will discuss any details of his appointment or answer questions. This is a first class operation and worth the extra drive! read more

We just took our dogs to the new location for Ash Way Pet Spa in Everett, near the Hobby Lobby. The new location is very convenient, and we were able to have both of our dogs groomed at the same time which greatly reduced the overall time it takes for them to be groomed. Ash Way Pet Spa is the first out of many different groomers that my dogs actually wag their tales when we go there and they seem to really enjoy going to be groomed. They do a great job every time, and it is easy to see they really love dogs which is probably the primary reason our dogs love to go there. read more

This was my first time, taking my dachshund to the groomers. I called beforehand to make an appointment, and was told there would not be a groomer to do the haircut portion, which I was more than okay with since I did not want her hair to be cut. I asked her nails, be trimmed, anal glands expressed, and a bath and conditioning. I stated multiple times over the phone that I like the way that her hair falls naturally, and did not want it cut. I dropped her off a few days later, picked her up and noticed her paws were cut, and the man apologized as that's not the service he normally did. Her paws were all jagged and uneven, which was frustrating because I didn't want any haircut to begin with. I also noticed a few knots in her hair on her ears, and that she didn't have any smell like I was expecting. Disappointed read more

Very disappointed at how my 7 month old Maltese puppy was left after her $75 grooming. I paid extra for a certain shampoo they offer and she didn't smell that great when I picked her up. When I seen her after the grooming it didn't look too bad because they put a cute bow and Bandana on but when I actually held her I was left covered with dog hair all over my clothes and I noticed her hair cut was very uneven and choppy especially the butt area it was completely bald to the skin and look irritated. If looking for a nail trim amongst your pet supplies the groomer here does a really quick and confident job and is very sweet. They can clip or use a dremel, my dog has had both. And they've always been really great about coming out to do a trim quite quickly despite working on other dogs. The shop is also great. And the owner is really kind and committed. I've been very pleased with all of my purchases from Ash Way Pet Supply to date. It has a very nice selection of treats, food, toys, and gear so there is always something special to pamper your pet with. The seasonal dog biscuits at the counter are always a hit with my dog! Of course your well behaved dog is welcome here, and is always greeted warmly with treats. I do wish that there was a little more inclusion for breed sizes within their dog treat selection as I have a toy breed, but including mini sized training treats would be good for puppies of all sizes as well. Usually I can find mini training treats around 1.6-2/kcal each, but the smallest ones I could find here were 4/kcal each. Luckily they were soft so I could break them in half during the training session, and it's not really a big deal, but some lower calorie options for small dogs or puppies would be appreciated! That said, I absolutely adore the red plaid blanket style coat I got for my dog here and I haven't seen anything else like it locally, so it is worth stopping in for some unique finds! read more

Took my dog in for shower today and they can get me in the same day appointment which is great. During pickup my dog still kind of wet, well I guess I was too early to pick him up (~45mins wait). The owner/groomer super friendly. Offer fragrance and makes my dog smells like Christmas! Love the smell. Overall, good experience and hopefully need a little more drying. We began the search for a new groomer and after one failed attempt, we found Ash Way. Our beloved Cairn Terrier is treated so nicely, she looks adorable and they get her in and out very quickly. A few weeks ago, I got a call from Tracy regarding my last review. She offered me a free groom in the hopes I would give Ashway another chance. I took her up on it and I'm glad I did. In an hour my chihuahua, Sushi, got his hair did and nails trimmed. There was no choppy hair lines and a perfectly dry dog at the end of his groom. There were 2 small spots where he was knicked, but I forgot to tell the groomer he had little cysts that stuck out. All in all, happy dog, happy owner. read more

This is a great store where you can find food that will make your dogs and cats feel better and live longer. If you are still feeding them that stuff from the grocery store, shame on you! The staff is always pleasant and has good suggestions on products to try for what ever problem your pet has. DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE! All of the positive reviews you will see for this place will be solely for the store! There is a reason for that. We usually take our Italian Greyhound, Gouda to Posh Paws in Seattle and we love it there. However, they were closed today and he got really dirty at the dog park so he desperately needed a bath and nail trim. We made the horrible mistake of bringing him here. Making the appointment over the phone went smoothly enough. We made it for 11:30am and arrived a few minutes early. The woman who I spoke with on the phone was the same woman who checked us in when we arrived. I tell you this because she asked if we had been there before and I said no. So we were new clients who knew nothing about their policies or rules. So after they took him back I asked what the price would be since nobody told us, and the woman checked her little book of breeds and said "for a greyhound... $47". Um... No. He is an ITALIAN greyhound, which we told her over the phone and she could clearly see in person. That was a major red flag. So she went back and checked with her groomer and then said "oh sorry, yeah it's $27" well duh. You don't know our breed and even after seeing him you were going to charge us the price of a large dog? Not cool. But not a huge deal. Here's where the real issue begins- my husband had an appointment in downtown Seattle at 12:30, so we figured we'd pick up Gouda around 2. We get a call from the woman at 12:15 exactly saying that Gouda was done and we could go pick him up then. So I said "okay great, could we be there around 2 or so, or do we have to get him right now?" She said we had to pick him up right then and that they don't crate dogs afterwards which was a positive to her. Also, she said Gouda was very upset so she felt badly for him. Okay? He's never had an issue at the groomers so that was a surprise and we have been to 5 or so before settling on Posh Paws as our go to and we have never had an issue with picking up later on. She knew we were first time Clients so that important detail should've been specified UP FRONT. So we had to cancel my husbands appointment 15 minutes before it was scheduled, meaning we had to pay the same day cancellation fee. Awesome. When we arrived, that same woman we were dealing with on the phone and in person was the same one at the front. Turns out, she's the owner -_- So this owner was the one who didn't give us important information AND who didn't know what our dogs breed was and tried to charge double. That's very bad. She knew I was unhappy with the lack of communication from the phone call yet she didn't say a word about it. She just gave us the total and said "I'm so glad you guys are here to pick him up, he's not too happy". Uhuh. He was tethered to the wall by the way on a tight leash, crying like crazy, getting zero comfort from anyone and he had no water. I asked if I could speak to a manager which is when she informed me she was the owner. So I tell her we were very disappointed and upset because she knew we were new customers and didn't know any of their rules, yet she didn't tell us anything. She didn't apologize at all, she just said "right well that's how we do things.." Yes but we don't know how you do things "right, well I think the way we do it is great so you don't have to wait to pick up your dog". That's lovely, but we needed to know cuz then we wouldn't have come here in the first place because that was not conducive to our schedule. Then she just kept saying she loved the way they did and didn't say sorry until my husband said "well as first time clients you needed to inform us of the way you do things". She just goes "I'm very sorry about the miscommunication... But it's great how we do it!" Blah blah blah. Like, shut up. Clearly we don't care if you love how your shop runs things. You made us pay $25 to cancel an appointment we wouldn't have had to cancel if you just told us what we should've been told in the first place! Then she said "if you had told me you had an appointment we probably could've worked something out". Um, no because you were adamant on the phone about picking him up right then and reiterating multiple times that he was very scared. Then they couldn't find his leash and tried to give us the wrong one. Oh! And the woman who groomed him said (after I let them know he's never had a problem at any other groomer) that he was probably so scared because we didn't let him go to the bathroom beforehand because he pooped twice while there. Are you kidding me? Having to poop doesn't scare him and you're honestly going to accuse us of not letting him go potty? WOW. We did by the way, but we don't have to defend ourselves. I completely ignored her. The owner and groomer were incredibly unapologetic and the owner was more intent on letting us know how great they were instead of remedying the situation. An up front sincere apology and comped service would've been how a good owner handled it read more

This was my dog's first groomer. Took him here maybe 4-5 times? I liked how it was quick and they did a decent job. Over time I've been increasingly put off by the staff. They just aren't very friendly. I remember one time they called me to say they were done. I was at the Starbucks close by so I got to the store in minutes but she was still working on my dog. I stayed out of view but could hear her work with my dog. I'm sure my dog was a pain but..she seemed a bit aggressive. The nail in the coffin though was when I picked my dog up and a couple of his nails were bleeding. I get it. It happens. At least let the owner know. Or even better, put some powder on it. Now I take him to a place in Country Village where they take forever but are very friendly, will talk to you about how your dog did, and seem genuinely interested in customer satisfaction. read more

I brought my Pomeranian here for grooming yesterday and was really disappointed. Upon picking my dog up, the groomer informed me that there was something wrong with one of his toenails and that she had clipped all of them and left that one alone. She said that it seemed to have broken on its own and that she did not touch that one. After I arrived home and showed my boyfriend, he was confused and said that he knew for sure nothing was wrong with his paw before the visit to the groomer. The reason he was so sure of himself is because of the way our dog plays with us. He likes it when we grab his paws and chase him around. My boyfriend assured me they were playing just before I picked him up to take him to his grooming appointment. After the appointment, we tried to hold is paw to take a closer look at it and he would cry in pain. This is what leads me to believe that something happened at the grooming appointment that ended up injuring my dog. Today, I called the store back and talked to one of the owners. She said she was there when it happened and the groomer told her right away when she "saw bleeding" but they both did not know what it was from. Then she said to me "Sorry, I don't really know what else to say". Anyway, to sum it all up, the bath + haircut + nail trim only took an 1 hour. Working so quickly, they gave my dog a horrible hair cut and hurt him in the process. His hair turned out very uneven and choppy. The groomer also shaved him around the ball area and even the shave job was uneven! They charged me $60 which was overpriced for the poor quality my dog and I got in return. Needless to say, I will never return to this shop again. read more

More like a 3.5 stars. Nice store -- decent selection for cats but definitely caters more toward dog owners. Par for the course unfortunately. The employees (owners?) are a tad bit frosty though like your typically PNW'ers which is why I docked them. They always seem a little put off by small talk especially when you are complimenting the beautiful cat Alice that live there. It's quite odd to be honest. I love cats though so I'll put myself through the awkward social encounters if it means I get to say hi to any feline friends. 5 stars for Alice and 3 for the humans. read more

it appears to be a local mom and pop shop down the road that is a bit pricier than a petco or petsmart; however, they offer specialty foods (frozen, dry, etc...) and the location is pretty convenient. i'll continue to come here because the owner is swell; it's just not a place i would shop regularly for my pet, ill head here more for the convenience. there are plenty of specialty pet stores in the seattle area that i would stop by first if it were closer, including mill creek village and the u village. read more

I've been very impressed since I've started buying my food at Ash Way Pet Supply. I buy dog food that is not normally found at the large chains, which is fine with me, since I generally prefer to avoid those locations anyway. I previously went to a small pet store on Bothell-Everett, and always found the employees less than enthusiastic when it comes to customer service. The guy at Ash Way is great. I've only been to the store three times, and since I buy the large dog food bag, it's usually a few months between visits. On my most recent visit, he actually remembered that I had been there before, and thanked me for coming back. I've had my dog for 5 years, and visited numerous pet stores, and never had anyone acknowledge that I was a repeat customer. Sometimes it's the little things when it comes to customer service, and this guy just made me a regular customer. It doesn't hurt that they are in a good location for me, easy parking, have a nice clean store, and sell the products I need. read more

I came home to visit my mother for the weekend. Her dog's nails were soooo long it was causing him pain. Apparently he's been very difficult to handle and does NOT like getting his nails clipped. I called Ash Way Pet Supply to explain them about the situation and they said it was ok to bring him in. The two women who were working there handled him very well. Because he was squirming and panicking, they wrapped him in a towel and very quickly, clipped his nails without hitting the quick. He's very happy walking around with shorter nails. Will have to take him there again. Their food selection in terms of quality is the best in town. I'm very picky about what my cats eat and Ashway isn't overpriced nor expensive for what they do sell. I don't always shop at Ash Way Pet Supply, but if I'm in the neighborhood, I HAVE to stop in to visit the shop cats, Mac and Cheese. Aside from having friendly, cute cats, they have a great supply of high quality pet foods, treats (even a pastry case of fancy dog treats!), etc. The staff is friendly and they have more than a passing knowledge about the products they sell. At my last visit, I even got a free can of cat food and samples of treats! Nice! read more

We regularly buy our dog food here and occasionally cat food; they don't really care to bring in brands when you mention them, which just means we have to go two different places for pet food (mostly our fault for getting our cat hooked on all natural limited ingredient food) The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They generally always have our dog food in stock. But let's get to the important stuff: Mac and Cheese are door greeters, personal shoppers and in store entertainment all wrapped up in fluffy orange fur. Ash Way Pet Supply is the best! This husband and wife team really know their product and only support companies with good morals and ethics, such as NOT testing on animals. They have a great selection of both and dog/cat food, treats as well as toys. The resident cats Mac and Cheese are also very helpful, last year at Christmas they helped me pick out the best toys for my cats! I called about 4 different pet stores looking for Innova small bites dog food before I found this place. The person who assisted me over the phone was very nice . That same day, I went to the store to purchase the dog food. The gentleman working there was very friendly, and even thanked me for the purchase. I had seen this same product on the internet for about $13.00. Here, I got it for $18.00, which isn't bad at all considering I didn't have to pay for shipping or wait for a delivery.
