In the past I took the M15 after a Pier 17 concert toward the better late-night food options around Houston. And recently the M15 helped ease the crushing blow of a 3 1/2 hour wait at Upstate, shuttling me to the friendlier turf of Chinatown. Compared to some non-SBS buses, the vanilla M15 is fast enough that you won't have a ton of time to regret your non-express trip. Houston-Grand-Canal may not be on the level of Somebody Told Me-Mr. Brightside-All These Things That I've Done but the bus is doing a capable job until that 2nd Ave. Subway shows up in the year 2083. read more

If you're under 65, disabled, using walker or Rollator AVOID taking Local M15 Uptown Bus! African American Female bus driver I encountered yesterday 10/31/24 prefers to shout, verbally intimidate, demanding you to fold up your walker is beyond ridiculous & unacceptable. I had one large bag to unload with the help of my senior mother in order to fold up my rollator, yet female bus driver kept telling me I can not put my bag here or there, been living here for 38 years & fully aware I can't dump my bag on certain spots of the bus reserved for people with disabilities seating area. Never once I blocked the entry or walkway using all MTA buses or public buildings entrance way, however she was convinced I'm gonna block the passenger walkway within first 3-4 minutes of me trying to get myself situated on the handicapped seat area. She's was very aggressive with her yelling and discriminating behaviour! How can I fold up my Rollator without giving my mother that bigger bag first? No one was boarding behind us and she was still aggressively shouting at me! Is this type of behaviour MTA have trained their drivers to do? Target the disabled?! She never even bothered to tell non-disabled passengers occupying and seated in these priority front of bus handicapped seats to move their behind or get up from those seats. I had to ask one person to do it! Filed a proper complaint about this incident already. Will not tolerate this type of discrimination or crude behaviour. By the way, local bus M102, 103 Uptown 3rd Avenue is not much better especially with Female African American drivers! Only met (1) that was polite and respectful on downtown local M15 bus, I'm also a female but with a lighter skin colour but not Caucasian. Maybe this is racism issue? Don't know what the issue is but this horrendous discriminating and bullying attitude must stop, end of. No one with disabilities should tolerate it. Needless to say my mother and I decided to get off this toxic bus (2) stops after getting on at 1st Avenue & 34th Street stop. What is wrong with these disgusting African American women acting all rude, bad attitudes bus drivers on MTA buses? Never had any issues like this with male drivers regardless of their skin colour! read more

NYC M15 bus*not selected bus. Some ppl are mixing up the review but this is again M15 bus. Local/not express. Most of time you'll be broad to the bus less than 10min wait. But sometimes around 3-4pm bus isn't running more than 20min. I'll recommend you to take M15 SELECT BUS around 3-4pm. M15 bus goes to all way uptown Harlem to downtown Manhattan. 2hrs trip all together. after 4pm- 6pm is always packed. If you're going to 1st ave, York ave it's pretty convenient. You can charge the phone sometimes. read more

MTA M15 Bus Uptown to Costco has always been clean and fairly timely. We usually get the ticket at the bus-top for select bus service. It's limited stops to our 117th Street location. Today the regular M15 bus just kept going past us speeding along. We both noticed the select bus we were on was going fast today too. I really like the comfort of the newer buses. When the driver is going fast the ride isn't comfortable due to the many holes and bumps in the road. That's what happened today. This location has a shelter in case it's raining or you want to sit to wait for the bus. I suggest you be noticeable on the sidewalk or the bus driver might just speed by! read more

Took the bus in NYC lower Manhattan. The MTA - M15 starts in is a local bus. The bus was clean when we got on. We took the bus to Chinatown. The bus itself was clean. Bus driver was very friendly. Best of all there are free charging port on the bus. We had a weekly pass. The pass costed $34 for unlimited ride for the week. read more

The man operating the m 15 bus at 1124 am at approximately 79th street was extremely discourteous to the passengers

This bus has no restrooms--gender neutral or otherwise. (Why does Yelp! ask me that?) This is the local M15 up first avenue to Harlem; it's good and reliable and runs 24 hours, and I prefer it for short trips now that there's "Select" bus service for the longer trips. The best thing about the M15 local bus..it arrives at the bus stop before I even get a chance to check it on the MTA Bus Time website. Going downtown it runs along 2nd Avenue and then turns east on Houston Street and continues south on Allen Street, right on Madison Street and continues south again on St. James, Pearl and finally on Water Street all the way to South Ferry. It will go past the outskirts of Chinatown. More towards the LES. It's the best bus near Chinatown. The other bus that goes through the main avenue (Bowery) in Chinatown is terrible so I rather take the M15 but the M15 can be a bit too far in the east side of Manhattan sometimes. But it's the most reliable bus. Unfortunately there is no crosstown buses in Chinatown. read more

I can't believe anyone would give this fewer than five stars. The M15 Select makes it so easy to get uptown or downtown. With only a handful of stops between 42nd St and Houston St, I can get downtown almost as quickly as in a cab, and I save $8 in the process! The kiosks they have to get your pass before you get on makes boarding the bus much quicker than a regular bus. Print your receipt and then get on at any door. No waiting for the numbskull in front of you to find his metrocard and then try to insert it the right way! They do this in other cities and I think it's a great idea. You spend more time riding on the bus than waiting to board the bus, so that saves time, money and gasoline for everyone. read more

This bus does get you where you need to go from Downtown to Uptown (and vice versa) in no time really (well depending on traffic), so it is reliable. I got from the LES to NYUMC in less than 20 minutes, so that is the positive take on this bus. The negative? What is with this Select Bus Service ticket system? I get on board and then the driver directs me to a machine outside and says I need to get a ticket to get on. So I go outside, stick my Metrocard card in the machine and then get a paper ticket. I then board the bus again and then the driver waves me through. What kind of weirdo system is this? I understand that the concept is to speed up the process of getting everyone on board (especially during busy hours) BUT there are so many dimwits (myself included) that do not understand this system. So what you get is a bunch of people looking lost getting on and off the bus trying to get a paper ticket (uh mind you how many trees we are killing for this useless piece of paper) and in the end, we are still holding up the line. AND I know for a fact this system has been in place for at least 2 years now, so people aren't learning (myself included). And you know the saying...the path to Hell is indeed paved with good intentions. So, I rest my case. The select bus service ticket system is just plain dumb IMHO. How about changing to a system where we just scan our cards (you know like in Amsterdam and Hong Kong)? And besides, New Yorkers are scammers, so I am sure people use their tickets for days on end before anyone even bothers to check that the their ticket is from 2012...haha. It's not the best, but living on 1st Ave in Kips Bay, I'd rather take the bus than walk all the way to the 6 train and stand on a hot platform. I didn't use the bus for the longest time because I was confused about how it worked. You have to pay for your ticket BEFORE boarding at the machines located at the bus stop. Then hold on to that receipt because occasionally they will check for them. This is an "express" bus, so it stops about every 10 blocks. It's a relatively fast way to get from downtown to uptown and it's air conditioned! read more

Even though I'm on vacation forever I still have very important obligations during the weekdays in Midtown and the UES that require my being present five minutes early. Naturally I prefer to be at least five minutes late. The M15 helps make this happen. read more

a) We already had limited buses and they were fine. b) cops doing a shakedown of every one on the bus at random stops seems to nullify any time saved by not having to swipe your card on the bus--AND if makes me feel like a crime suspect c) when these buses are near other bus stops, i dont know if i should take the chance of buying a ticket for this one if a regular bus is going to come first. last minute decision making sometimes has to be made and its annoying. d) how much did these new ticket machines and buses COST??? Basically. . . thumbs down. Horrible idea. The increased police presence means they know New Yorkers are going to abuse the "honor system". .. so why even have it?! read more

This route is great, sometimes faster than the train once you factor in walking to/from the stations. I just wish they'd bring back the blue lights, so you could tell whether it was a local or select approaching! read more
