It's easy to use, being ADA compliant, and also has colorful artwork within the station. African American artist Lisa Corinne Davis employs layered representations of maps in these 2024 public art mosaic murals taken from her paintings made of a combination of glass smalti, engraved glass cakes with color infill, and hand-painted glass. Before you enter fare control is "Tempestuous Terrain" and on the Mezzanine, flanking both stairs down the platforms are "Liminal Location." You must purchase a ticket before you board. All three doors open making for speedy boarding and disembarking of passengers. Keep your receipt after you buy your ticket. Sometimes a MTA Employee will be at a stop checking to see if passengers paid. The fine for not paying is hefty! The buses are new and have been clean when I ride. Passengers are not as crazy as I remember in the past on this route. I like that this bus stops right on my corner. Especially when I have shopping bags. All major intersections have a bus stop along this route. You need to use your Metro Card to buy the fare. Read all the instructions before you attempt to use this service. Much like all NYC Public Transportation there's lots of rules and regulations. I'm still a fan of faster service. If you're going very far, or out when it's 20 degrees wind chill, you should ride! As one of the 28 stations in the original 1904 IRT lines, decades before the Lincoln Center was built and it was only just the 66th St. Station in the San Juan Hill section of town, you'll find the original ceramic trim maintained along the top of the platform walls. Enjoy this station's colored glass mosaic murals which decorate the walls with dramatic characters appearing to perform for passengers, including an often repeated diva in a golden hooded full length robe, which captures the light - as it should for a diva! They are what I normally catch through my train window as my Express train speeds by. In 1999, giving a nod to the Lincoln Center's dedication to the performing arts, MTA installed artist and activist Nancy Spero's "Artemis, Actobats, Divas and Dancers." This work immortalizes the period musicians, actors, dancers, acrobats, and other classic performers doing what they do best - put on a show! Better to check out close up when you're at this stop!

This was my 1st time taking this train to the last stop I wanted to get to the Bronx via the 3 train at 145th st. and then transfer onto the 19 bus to cross the bridge. I messed up. I stayed on to 148 by mistake and had to take the downtown 1 stop for 145th. The conduct did announce that only the first 5 cars would open at 145th st. yet did not give a newbie like myself time to count the cars and run to the car I needed to be in and I ended up unable to get off and heading back downtown. Sad. Why announce what section of the train we need to be in if the doors are gonna close as soon as you do so?

I also enjoyed not having to deal with rats, smelly stations, bums, and annoying school kids on the subway. Over the past few months, however, service on the X63 has precipitously declined. Every morning, the bus breezes from my stop at Merrick and Farmers to the LIE. Once it gets on the LIE, it crawls all the way to Manhattan. Ironically, the "express" bus is slower than the subway. A few days ago, it took 45 minutes to travel from the Queens Blvd entrance of the LIE to 42nd Street and 3rd Avenue. That was the last straw. I'm done with the X63. The negatives outweigh the positives. I don't mind paying extra money for a premium service. I do mind getting to work late. If you have all of the time in the world then I encourage you to ride the X63. If not, then take the subway and local bus combination or LIRR (if you live near a LIRR station).

There is also an elevator on the SE corner of 86th and 2nd! Wonderful!! There is WiFi service in the station, and plenty of kiosks to get tickets. Not manned, but there are blue light kiosks for emergencies. Everytime I step on the Q, I swear the cleaning team has just stepped out the other door. Every morning it is freshly mopped and I want to be sure they know how appreciative I am and I spoke to others who agreed with me while we sat there. Masks are required, for good reason - too many people in a closed subway car - I wish everyone ALWAYS wore masks on there!!

The delays getting across town have been nonexistent. I feel safe because masks are required and the customers are peaceful on this route. Everyone does their best to spread out. There are times when I rely heavily to get back and forth from the West Side of Manhattan. I like to shop on the West Side and my eye doctor is located on the West Side. Without the crosstown bus I would spend a lot of money on taxi cabs. Make sure you have a metro card for your fare. The buses do not take cash. This bus makes all the major stops across town and passes through Central Park. It's a nice ride for site seeing. I'm recommending.
