There are three steep escalators that take you to the street without ever climbing a step. (If you think I'm lazy, I'll remind you that I'm no spring chicken.) -- I frequently go between Philadelphia and NYC via Amtrak. The Q is a couple of blocks from the Moynahan station, and leaves me minutes from my building. -- The Q goes practically everywhere I want to go: Carnegie Hall (57th Street), Times Square (42nd Street), Macy's (34th Street), Chinatown (Canal Street .... though I usually take the bus) and Coney Island. -- In Brooklyn, the Q follows the same route that the D formerly did, which is what I took growing up. (I'm nostalgic!) -- Going downtown I always get a seat -- though I'm happy to relinquish it when someone boards who needs it. The train seems clean. Or clean-ish. Climate-controlled, too. Years ago cars were dirty and filled with graffiti. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter. So yeah, I'm happy. The Q has it going on!

I can get off here at 57th to go to Nordstrom and much more. I seldom take the subway. If I plan to enjoy shopping in this neighborhood this winter I better get used to this station. Winter came early this year. I'm usually in a hurry to get out from underground. I haven't noticed the condition. I feel like it's always being renovated. I'm just glad I have door to door service because this station is located at 57th Street. I'll probably be here today with my daughter.

This elevated station has two side platforms and three tracks. This subway station has been updated modernized and contains simple architecture keeping with function and operational rather than beauty and ornate. My style is traditional, but I do believe individuals and society must adapt with changing times for updated modernization - at least keep it classic and simple which this subway station maintain. The entrance/exit kiosk is modern, but a classic and very simple appeal glass-and-steel canopies with no lavish modern awnings. The artwork for the station, titled "Perasma I and II; Dappleganger," by Stephen Westfall installed in 2018 consists of 47 laminated glass mural panels in the mezzanine, each with geometric designs. It allows color and natural sunlight to be emitted.

There are walkway ramps with exposed "I" beams visible and wall murals and mosaics commissioned by artists. Occasionally, there are NYPD police presence on the platform which fends the illusion of safety and security for New Yorkers during turbulent times for rash of hate or bias assaults. Duke Ellington's "Take the A Train" still resonates through time and tide.

I get out on the Fulton side that leads you to Fulton St and Stuyvesant Ave across the street from Boys and Girls High School, adjacent from Fulton Park. There is no token booth, no one for customer service, and seldom NYPD available, however it is anything but grimey (that's Ebonics for dirty) and the four kiosk are always working but please be advised some mornings these kiosks do not take dollar bills. This exit is well lit and clean. The murals are a stationery to the culture of working class people and youth that attend neighboring schools that access the A/C trains daily. 4 stars because the MTA tore down our Token Booth. Welcome to Bed-Stuy.

The absolute best mode of transportation from Da Bronix to the Flatiron District. Even when they…read morehad those old school buses running the Bronx-Manhattan routes back in the day it was awesome. The BxM9 has been and always will be the way to travel quickly in between Manhattan and The Bronx. This bus service offers efficient and personable bus drivers, (I think it's cool to be able to say, 'Good Morning' to a bus driver and actually receive a pleasant response back to start the day off right...it's the little things sometimes). There are comfortable reclining seats, individual overhead lights, individual a/c, and to add to the comfort once you hit the highway the bus driver turns off the interior bus lights so you can get a nice nap during your ride or if you prefer you can use your overhead light if needed. Using the express bus almost daily made me never ever want to ride the train again...I got seriously spoiled. There's a timetable that is adhered to and can be found online and downloaded to your phone. The schedule is pretty much on point even during rush-hour due to the fact that there are designated bus lanes between 30 something street and 59th street on Madison Ave going North and 125th-110th thru 23rd street on 5th Ave going South (Drop Off only). The commute in either direction can be anywhere from 20 mins - 1.5hr, depending on the day plus time of day, driver, traffic or road construction, and/or any other NYC variable that can be thrown at you. As a daily rider you eventually get the hang of timing your commute accordingly. The fare is about $6.00 each way, but if your company offers Flexible Spending Benefits this can help subsidize the cost of using this mode of transport. In addition, if you need to transfer to the train or local bus those connections are free. The BxM9 Express Bus is well worth it for its comfort and convenience.

It is an ADA compliant accessible station. In 2007, the MTA installedl faceted stained glass windows designed by New York artist Tomie Arai called "Back to the Garden," a nod to the Joni MItchell song lyrics about a more simpler life. You'll find among the floral one of the things I enjoyed the most - inset screened black & white historic photos of areas this White Plains Road Line passes through. Period images of The Grand Concourse, Prospect Avenue, the old subway entrance at East 149th Street, trollies along Third Avenue show how much the Bronx has changed. My favorite pic - the 1890 White Plains Road 2-story wooden Hotel W. Thwaite that also sold wines and lager beer! All in all, they add to this great public artwork, making it worth taking a closer look!

When I got off the plane from Las Vegas to JFK, I picked up my luggage and walked over to the tram. There was two different trams going, and the one I was getting on was the Howard Beach AirTrain route. The Howard Beach AirTrain route offers a nearly nonstop, 15 minute link from Terminal 5 to the subway at Howard Beach, with simplicity, platform screen doors, and round the clock availability. The Howard Beach line originates at Howard Beach station, travels through Lefferts Boulevard, moves into Federal Circle, and then enters the terminal loop, stopping at Terminals 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8 in that sequence. Travel between terminals is free! There are seats in the Tram, but it can get busy during the morning hours or in the evening. When I arrived in around 7:00 P.M, its pretty empty. Once I arrived at the Howard Beach stop, I went down the escalator, to the ride share app pickup location. It's a seamless ride!

It goes…read moreall the way to Riverside (no other crosstown does that I can think of), which is much further west in that area than where Riverside is further up. So that is a big plus. It crosses the park on the same route as the 66th street crosstown does. The problem is that it runs about once a millennium. It is the only bus line where I actually check the schedule sometimes. If you are in a rush and you catch it, you feel like you won the lottery. But generally speaking, you will be standing around at the bus stop for awhile. Bring something to read.

This is a pretty good subway station. It has one big advantage. This is close to Central Park…read more Convenient from downtown. This is a heavily traveled line. It serves the B and C. It's not all that much to look at. This station however is pretty clean, which isn't all that usual. It heads up Central Park West for a stretch and into Harlem. The station is also near a bus stop. It's overall an okay station. Convenient if you're going to northern areas of Central Park. These areas include the transverse road and the waterfalls.
