Ferry was on-time, clean and super quick ride to Manhattan. Super chill. Got tickets via the app. Recommended.

The line keeps getting longer. I'm finally up front-- took about an hour. But I think these people in the back have a long way to go.

I was debating switching from the subway to the ferry, given that the L will eventually be shutting down and the subway is generally evil anyway. I figured I would give the ferry a try. Forget it. There is no shade at the North Williamsburg stop-- so get ready to burn in the sun or freeze your behind off in bad weather. Plus you don't always fit on the boat. You line up and pray there is enough space otherwise you just have to wait for the next one. Mind you, this isn't even rush hour. I don't even want to know what it is like then. I doubt I'll ever find out. Unless you are on the back of the line, you have to stand and wait on a floating platform. So be ready for that too-- playing on your phone while waiting will likely make you sick if you are prone to motion sickness. The only sort of redeeming factor was the service woman selling tickets. She was really nice. So that was cool. Though the guys counting heads couldn't care less about anyone there. They told us the next ferry would come in 15 minutes. Nnnnope. Stick with the subway. Or spend the extra money for a cab or Uber. I know, one is awful and the other can be pretty pricey. But my new-found perspective says it can DEFINITELY be far worse. And you won't suffer sunburn.

Great alternative to a cab or other means of transport. Second time taking the boat but this time I took my 7 year old...and she LOVED it. Def. a cheap trip to take a kid on and escape the city for a minute. For only 4 bucks you can cross from the city or take it all the way from L.I.C to BK as I did. Very cool and unexpected find in the city....can't see it being the same for so long.

A pretty way to get to Manhattan from Greenpoint. The ride is cheap, takes only 10m, and there's a CitiBike station right on the other side of the river. It's quicker than taking the G to most of central Manhattan. The ferries are usually on time but only every 30m. You can buy tickets at this station (there's a machine) or on the NY Waterway app. Enjoy!

For only $2.75, same price as a subway ride, you can travel from American Veterans Memorial Pier to lower Manhattan Wall Street and Corlears Hook ( south of East River Park ). Kiosk in the station to purchase tickets. Only downside is that this transportation mode is not part of MTA Metrocard which is ridiculous at this point. You pay separately for this service. NYC needs to work out a plan to have all transportation ( subway, bus, ferry ) all on one inclusive way to pay.

Warning if you want to return to this exact Bay Ride stop from Governor's Island you'll need to check the time table because it stops running around 6pm! But alternatively you can take the Governor's Island direct ferry back into Manhattan. It was such a smooth ferry ride from Bay Ride -- 10 minutes total (second stop from here) and the bottom/inside of the ferry had AC, a bar and snacks area!! Since it was my first time on this ferry I went to the top to enjoy the view and it was so nice! The ferry was late but I think you should still get there on time just in case because they left as soon as everyone boarded! Was nice to take a ferry in the summer vs. the MTA trains!

From the moment we boarded, everything felt well-organized and welcoming. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the check-in and seating process smooth. The real highlight, of course, was the view. Seeing the skyline from the water gives you an entirely different appreciation for the city's architecture and scale. Passing by iconic landmarks while listening to the live narration added a lot of depth to the experience. Our tour guide, Andrew, was especially knowledgeable about the history of the city--he shared fascinating facts, stories, and context that really brought each landmark to life, all while keeping things engaging and easy to follow. The boat itself was clean and comfortable, with plenty of space to move around and take photos. Whether you prefer sitting inside or enjoying the open-air deck, there's a good spot for everyone. I especially appreciated how unhurried the cruise felt; there was enough time to soak in each sight without feeling rushed. I'd highly recommend the Circle Line Sightseeing Cruise to both visitors and locals--it's a relaxing, informative, and scenic way to see the city from a whole new angle.

Aaah yes, taking the ferry home on a Friday that also happens to be a prematurely warm and sunny not-quite-spring day. The ferry is too expensive to be a part of my daily commute. Comparing the $5.50 ride from World Financial Center to Jersey City (Paulus Hook) with the $1.75 PATH ride between World Trade Center and Exchange Place, you can see why the ferry is the Rich Man's PATH. Or, the poor man's cruise ship. Even the ferry terminal at World Financial Center is luxurious, at least compared to a PATH station. It's floating, and has a little balcony on the water where you can soak up that precious March sun while you wait for your ship to come in. It even had a nice clean bathroom, if you can handle the motion of the ocean. The PATH can't compare. The ferry ride takes about the same amount of time as the PATH ride (7 minutes from WFC to Paulus Hook). But unlike the five minutes you'll spend on the PATH, you can feel the salty wind in your hair, and the sun on your face, unless of course you get the boat where the upper level has been enclosed. But, still, you can pretend your itinerary takes you to somewhere more exotic than your average PATH stop... maybe Venice. A tourist you're not, but remember that some people travel far and wait a lifetime to glimpse these sights... the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Colgate clock, the tallest building in New Jersey, the tallest building in New York, cruise ships and tall sailing ships, all that and you can be home in time for dinner.
