God knows how many nights and days I have waited trains at this station within 5 years I have spent in the neighbourhood so far and how many more to come.. Especially I used to catch late nights ones at about 2-3 AM in the morning when my shift was over and would take the Voorhies Ave to walk (short cut if coming from Emmons Ave.) and once in every 2 nights, train would come when I am still steps away from the entrance so I would have to run like crazy to catch it :) Were fun times but the worst part was " missing it ". Then you either have to wait for an extra 20 minutes at least with homeless or possibly drunk station-bodies. Imagine carrying your weekly salary and praying that no one will rob you :) Since it is an open air station, and built on a high platform, it is really cold on winter time. Exit on Sheepshead Bay Road is really central, you may buy all your daily needs. There are cabs under the bridge, keep in mind for rainy days.

I remember when this station was completely decrepit. That you really didn't want to be around it…read more It looked like garbage. Only in the last decade or so after they did a complete overhaul on the station has it now looked much better, more attractive, and appealing to want to take the train into this station. This station houses 4 subway lines; the Brighton Line (Q), the Culver Line (F), West End Line (D), and the Sea Beach Line (N), and is home to a few bus lines. For the subway, it takes roughly 45 mins to 1 hour for each of the trains to get into the city. Not quite sure on the buses. The new station is also quite easy to navigate now. The old one was almost like a maze to figure out where to go. This one is easy, user friendly, and is more fluid. Thank goodness for that. It's also convenient in that once you get off, Nathan's, and the boardwalk are right there, so there's something easily around it. The smell of the ocean off Surf Avenue once out on the street is one of the best smells and welcoming feelings that you can't really identify elsewhere, it's just that unique. And so is this "new" station.

Only take the train all the way to Coney Island when going to see a minor league baseball game…read more Convenient as it is the last stop heading down there and the 1st stop heading back. 4 train lines will get you there - D, F (the orange lines), N & Q (the yellow lines). It's walking distance - a few blocks from Maimonides Park where the Brooklyn Cyclones play or Luna Park if one doesn't want to drive there along with the beach and other restaurants. Follow the signs to figure out where you need to go as you exit.
