    The bus stop

I'm writing this review after more than a month of trying to get help from FlixBus following my trip on August 4th from Rochester to New York City (31st St & 8th Ave stop). My bag was lost during that trip. It never came off the bus when we arrived in NYC. Since then, I've repeatedly contacted FlixBus Support, but their replies have been standardized, robotic responses with no empathy or effort to actually help. Every time you reach out to their customer care line, it feels like nobody truly cares about your situation. They just tell you to fill out a form, and after waiting two weeks, you receive the same generic message saying your bag wasn't found. That's not fair to customers who trusted this company with their belongings. My bag contained important personal items worth around $1,800, including a new suitcase and things I had collected over the years- memories that cannot be replaced. Losing it caused me a lot of emotional distress. I was crying at the bus stop, feeling completely helpless, because everything important to me was in that bag. When I went to the FlixBus stop at 31st & 8th Avenue, the staff were rude and dismissive. Instead of helping, they asked me to leave immediately, and one person even shoved me away when I tried to explain my situation. I expected basic understanding and compassion, but I was treated with indifference and disrespect. FlixBus needs to understand that these aren't just "bags". They hold people's memories, personal items, and valuables that take years to collect. The lack of accountability and safety for passengers' belongings is unacceptable. As humans, we deserve compassion and responsibility from the companies we trust with our travel. I truly hope FlixBus reconsiders how they handle lost baggage and begins treating their customers with genuine empathy and care. I'm happy to provide a detailed list of everything I lost if someone from the team actually takes the time to look into my case seriously.

The last time I took this bus was 2019, so I wasn't 100% sure what to expect…read more The bus and ride were surprisingly pleasant. The things I noticed/encountered: -The seats were a little smaller, but fairly comfy. -There were seat belts available -Depending on the seat, outlets were in the bottom/front of the 2 seats or side of the window seats. -There were large, panoramic tinted windows, which made the ride better. -Large garbage bags were placed throughout the bus, which helped keep the bus cleaner (assuming people used them). -The bathroom was small, but decent and clean...at least at the start of the ride. -There were foot rests, but they weren't very useful. I took the 5:30 pm bus on a Wednesday, so it wasn't as packed as a weekend bus may have been. The driver was friendly, check-in process was seamless...we just gave our names. I didn't have any large luggage, so I didn't have to use that extra compartment on the outside/bottom of the bus, but it was available for self-loading/unloading. There was additional storage available above the seats (similar to an airplane) and below the front seats. Even though there was traffic and heavy rain, we made it to our stop (stop #2 out of 3) in perfect time. There are multiple signs for Go Bus, luckily the bus driver walked over to us and let us know that the bus is actually stopped 2 signs ahead. Would I take this bus again? Yea, absolutely.

This week I decided to do it because the train fare was so high for the holiday weekend. Driver went thru upstate NY for some reason, then NJ which added a bunch of time to the trip, was on the phone most of the time and yelling at passengers. Total trip time was about 6.5hrs.

He scanned our ticket and we boarded. The bus was pretty full, so we ended up sitting separately. The above head storage bins are kind of tight, so I had to take something out of my over stuffed backpack to manage to wiggle it in. While my purse sat on my lap. I liked the foot rest and the hook on the handle on the seat in front of me. Trash bags were hung here and there. Looks like they also provided small bottles of water for us, though we had to grab those ourselves. The electric plugs didn't seem to work, but perhaps the ubs plugs in the ceiling did. Our driver was a great communicator. He set expectations so we knew that we had a 20 min rest stop before arriving at Baltimore, and pointed out things to help us to pay attention and to get back to the right bus. He warned us that given current construction that we were sure to arrive later than what our tickets said, and gave us his best eta given the circumstances. Another passenger later commented that the bus bathroom was clean. We kind of ended up being dropped off on a brightly painted bridge in the middle of no where - perhaps on Maryland Ave?, by a bus stop. A short walk from Penn Station.
